    Abstract: "About projections" gives insights into world maps, their ways of representation and the associated worldviews. On the one hand, the projection is presented as an ideal projection in the sense of a worldview that describes prevailing mental images, values, order principles, ways of thinking or explanatory models of the world. On the other hand, the focus is on the geometric projection that underlies world maps: every world map faces the difficulty of displaying the spherical surface in a two-dimensional plane. In a reconstruction various paradigmatic worldviews are shown on the basis of world maps. In a deconstruction, conventional ones are contrasted by alternative world maps. The wide variety of possible world maps shows that world maps do not represent a status quo, but are merely a subjective interpretation of the world at a given time, which remain subject to constant upheavals

    Abstract: Known for much of the nineteenth century as "the ever-faithful isle," Cuba did not earn its independence from Spain until 1898, long after most American colonies had achieved emancipation from European rule. In this groundbreaking history, David Sartorius explores the relationship between political allegiance and race in nineteenth-century Cuba. Challenging assumptions that loyalty to the Spanish empire was the exclusive province of the white Cuban elite, he examines the free and enslaved people of African descent who actively supported colonialism. By claiming loyalty, many black and mulatto Cubans attained some degree of social mobility, legal freedom, and political inclusion in a world where hierarchy and inequality were the fundamental lineaments of colonial subjectivity. Sartorius explores Cuba's battlefields, plantations, and meeting halls to consider the goals and limits of loyalty. In the process, he makes a bold call for fresh perspectives on imperial ideologies of race and on the rich political history of the African diaspora.     Abstract: The different written and archaeological sources give a very heterogeneous picture of the social and religious structures in Eastern Middle Europe. Recent developments in modern archaeological and historical research have shown new approaches to the analysis of elites. In every society there is a leading minority, who cumulates both wealth and prestige and is characterized by an elevated social rank, reputation and acceptance. An external marker of these elites is especially the superregional transfer of certain items, but also of the culturally encoded value systems. The present study asks whether this notion of cultural transfer, developed in the context of modern history, can be applied as well to the study of mutual influences between the elites of medieval Western and Eastern Middle Europe. It also raises the question if this terminology is equally useful for the analysis of written and material sources, and to what extent it might open a new perspective on the rich but as yet often unexplored history of the lands east of the Elbe river.〈p〉So unterschiedlich Schriftquellen und Bodenfunde des östlichen Mitteleuropas auch Zeugnis ablegen, so stimmen sie darin überein, ein sehr heterogenes Bild von der inneren gesellschaftlichen und religiösen Struktur der gentes zu liefern. Die gegenwärtige Entwicklung in der Archäologie und Geschichtswissenschaft zeigt neue Betrachtungsweisen in der Untersuchung von Eliten. In jeder Gesellschaft existiert eine Reichtum und Prestige auf sich ziehende führende Minderheit: Sie wird durch eine hohe soziale Position gekennzeichnet, aber auch durch Ansehen und Anerkennung. Als äußeres Kennzeichen der Eliten zeichnet sich dabei besonders der überregionale Transfer einzelner Güter und ihrer kulturell kodierten Wertsysteme ab. Doch eignet sich die eigentlich an neuzeitlichen Verhältnissen entwickelte Vorstellung des Kulturtransfers auch zur Untersuchung wechselseitiger Beeinflussungen der Eliten des westlichen und östlichen Mitteleuropas im Mittelalter? Ist es gleichermaßen für die Untersuchung schriftlicher wie materieller Quellen geeignet? Öffnet es einen neuen Blick auf die reiche, überbordende und zugleich noch vielfach verschlossene Geschichte des Raumes östlich der Elbe?

    Abstract: The villages on Bali’s north-east coast have a long history. Archaeological finds have shown that the coastal settlements of Tejakula District enjoyed trading relations with India as long as 2000 years ago or more. Royal decrees dating from the 10th to the 12th century, inscribed on copper tablets and still preserved in the local villages as part of their religious heritage, bear witness to the fact that, over a period of over 1000 years, these played a major role as harbour and trading centres in the transmaritime trade between India and (probably) the Spice Islands. At the same time the inscriptions attest to the complexity in those days of Balinese society, with a hierarchical social organisation headed by a king who resided in the interior – precisely where, nobody knows. The interior was connected to the prosperous coastal settlements through a network of trade and ritual. The questions that faced the German-Balinese research team were first: Was there anything left over of this evidently glorious past? And second: Would our professional anthropological and archaeological research work be able to throw any more light on the vibrant past of these villages?     Abstract: Im November und Dezember 1985 wurden in acht Ayt-Yazza-Dörfern der Ayt-Hdiddu-Berber am Asif-Mllull-Fluß in Südmarokko 101 Bräute von ihren Eltern in tagelang gemeinsam ausgeführten Zeremonien verheiratet. Die Bräutigame spielen dabei eine untergeordnete Rolle. 98% dieser Erstverheirateten werden wieder geschieden. Man sucht sich dann den nächsten Partner selbst und kann künftige Ehen ohne großes Heiratszeremoniell eingehen.
    Abstract: In November and December of 1985 101 brides were married by their parents in collective ceremonies lasting several days taking place in 8 villages of the Ayt-Hdiddu-Berbs at the Asif Mllull river in southern Morocco. The bridegrooms play a less important role. 98% of the first marriages are divorced. The next partner is chosen autonomously and further marriages take place without great ceremonies.

    Abstract: In February 1991 caravans of the Kel Gress and the Buzu travel to Fachi (Rep. Niger, Sahel zone). Only the Buzu-Caravan takes the exhausting way further on through the Ténéré desert to the oasis Bilma, in order to barter their sorghum for salt and dates. After a 5-days stop in Bilma, they return to their home village Galé near Keita.

Lediglich die Buzu-Karawane unternimmt den strapaziösen Weg weiter durch die Ténéré-Wüste zur Oase Bilma, um dort die mitgebrachte Hirse gegen Salz und Datteln zu tauschen. Nach einem fünftägigen Aufenthalt in Bilma zieht die Karawane wieder zurück zu ihrem Heimatdorf Galé bei Keita.

    Abstract: Zwei Yanomami-Zauberärzte beschwören tanzend und singend im Drogenrausch ihre Hilfsgeister. Der erste behandelt anschließend mit Abstreifzauber seine Frau, der zweite seine kleine Tochter. Zur Behandlung streichen die Hände mit aufgelegten Handflächen in wechselnder Richtung am Körper entlang. Die Richtung wechselt. Nach jedem Streichvorgang werden die Hände in einer Greifbewegung zusammengeführt, und das symbolisch ergriffene Übel wird weggeworfen.
    Abstract: Two Yanomami-shamanes under the influence of their local drug conjure up the spirits for help while chanting and dancing. Both then treat a family member. The first one cures his wife and the second his little daughter. Part of the treatment consists of grubbing firmly with both palms along the body of the patient. After each "massage", the hands are brought together in a grasping movement. The evil is symbolically removed and thrown away.

Wiederholte Sequenzen von den Tänzern zeigen, wie diese klagen und den Besitz des Verstorbenen vorzeigen. Noch während sie tanzen, beginnt ein Himou zwischen Heshiwarehima, einem Neffen des Toten, und Yoreshiawa, dem Headman der Hapokashitha-Gruppe. Danach werden unter dem Wehklagen der Trauergemeinde die Knochen des Toten zerstampft, die Knochenasche gesiebt und ein Teil in Bananensuppe vermischt von Trauergästen getrunken.
    Abstract: Mourning for a high-ranking man, the second chieftain of the group, by a fraction of the Pantaneotheri that now lives in Hapokashitha. After a round dance of adorned persons, with which this event is opened, as is the case for all types of festivals (Reahu), one sees how banana soup is prepared in kettles. Pictures of four mourning relatives, who are lamentingly dancing with personal possessions of the deceased. Repeated sequences of the dances show how they wail and present the possessions of the deceased. While they are still dancing, a Himou begins ... between Heshiwarehima, a nephew of the deceased, and Yoreshiawa, the cheftian of the Hapokashitha group. Subsequently the bones of the deceased are crushed amid the wailing of the mourning group, the bone ashes sieved and part of them mixed in the banana soup and drunk by the mourning guests.

Der Einjährige reagiert auf verbale Verbote ("mem"), die er auch wiederholt. Mit Stöckchen schlägt, hebelt und stößt er und erkundet so variantenreich die Möglichkeiten des Einsetzens dieser Werkzeuge. Die Erwachsenen kommentieren sein Tun.
    Abstract: Study of the explorative behaviour of a one-year-old and a nine-year-old boy playing outside. Their behaviour is ambivalent, inviting and defensive, throwing each other with stones. The one-year-old responses to verbal interdictions by repeating them. He beats and pushes with little sticks, handling them with many variations, thus exploring the possibilities of tool use. Adults comment on his play.

Sie reden mehr in der Babysprache auf den Säugling ein und sind stärker auf ihr Subjekt der Betreuung ausgerichtet als die Buben, die weniger säuglingsfokussiert und mehr der übrigen Umwelt zugewandt bleiben. Buben zeigen weniger orale Zärtlichkeit (Küssen) und gehen eher sportlich mit kleinen Kindern um. Beim Trösten von Säuglingen stellen sie sich ungeschickter an als Mädchen. Beide Geschlechter verfügen aber über das gleiche Repertoire fürsorglicher Vergleichsweisen. Der Film belegt das für den Menschen typische Vorherrschen der Gesicht-zu-Gesicht-Orientierung bei zärtlicher Interaktion.
    Abstract: Boys and girls looking after babies and toddlers. They talk to them, play with them, tease and cuddle them. Girls are more spontaneous and affectionate, they use babytalk and are stuck closer to the suckling than boys who are more attentive to the world around. Boys don't give so much oral tenderness (kisses) and treat toddlers a little rougher, being more awkward in comforting. Both, boys and girls, show the same repertoire of caring behaviour. The film documents the typical face-to-face orientation in affectionate interaction.

    Abstract: Das Mädchen Molebo war 5 Jahre zuvor ein Kind mit Kontaktschwierigkeiten (s. a. E 2992). Dasselbe Mädchen, inzwischen 11 bis 12 Jahre alt, hilft seinen Eltern und betreut den kleinen Bruder. Molebo hat jetzt auch Freundinnen ihrer Altersgruppe gewonnen und ist oft mit ihnen zusammen, betreut aber auch sehr oft Kleinkinder ihrer Wohngruppe und ist ebenfalls älteren Personen behilflich. Auf diese Weise fördert sie ihre soziale Integration in die Gruppe der Erwachsenen.
    Abstract: The Film shows scenes of the life of the 11-year-old girl Molebo and her behavioural strategies for her social integration into the group of adults in the camp. Molebo helps her parents in the domestic activities and she also helps sitting her little brother Mongoi. Molebo, together with other girls of her age, participates intensively in babysitting of other small children and gives a lot of tenderness. She also jokes with them, hugs them and also kisses them, although the kiss cannot be observed between adult Pygmies. Molebo helps also very old persons like the charismatic Ambije. This film is a document following up the social development of Molebo, who was some years before a low ranking child and frequently served as "whipping child" sensu lato in hierarchic demonstrations from bigger and dominant girls in the group (cp. Film E 2992).

Während Männer das Grab ausheben, trauern Frauen klagend und weinend um den aufgebahrten Toten. Der Tote wird begraben. Ein Holzgerüst schützt seinen Körper vor den über ihn geschichteten Steinen und dem Erdreich. Abzug der Frauen und Männer.

    Abstract: Eintanz der Gäste mit Selbstdarstellung und mit freundlichen Appellen an mittanzende Frauen und Kinder. Die jungen Männer tanzen zunächst einzeln und stellen sich dabei den Familien der Gastgeber singend und tanzend vor. Zuletzt tanzen alle Gäste, Männer, Frauen und Kinder eine Runde. Die Frauen verteilen sich auf die mit ihnen befreundeten Familien, die Männer stellen sich im Zentrum des Shabonos auf. Der Häuptling wirkt an der Verteilung der Gäste auf die verschiedenen Familien der Gastgeber mit. Es folgt die Dokumentation eines im Rahmen dieses Festes am Abend stattgefundenen Kontraktgesanges (Himou) zwischen einem Besucher und dem Häuptling der Patanoetheri. Abgang am nächsten Morgen.
    Abstract: Display dance of the guests with image promotion and with friendly appeals on women and children who are also dancing. The young men first dance alone and in the process present themselves to the host's family in song and dance. Ultimately, all the guests - men, women and children - dance a turn. The women scatter to be with the families who are their friends; the men take positions in the centre of the "Shabonos".     Abstract: Der Film zeigt die Beziehung zweier 3jähriger Mädchen, die Strategie ihrer morgendlichen Kontaktaufnahme, die eine deutliche Ambivalenz (Zuwendung und Scheu) erkennen läßt. Aufforderung zum Spiel, Spielgesicht, spielerische Nachahmung. Die Ambivalenz ihrer Beziehung kommt auch in der Verweigerung einer Bitte zum Ausdruck. Das Mädchen Yoto ißt. Metik bittet durch ihr Verhalten, abzugeben, bekommt aber nichts. Yoto zeigt ihr herausfordernd den Bissen, gibt aber nicht ab. Bemerkenswert ist, daß Metik diese Entscheidung respektiert. Sie schmollt allerdings.
    Abstract: The film shows the relationship of two 3-year-old girls, the strategy of their morning contact establishment, which exhibits a clear ambivalence (attraction and timidity). Invitation to play, playful expression, playful imitation. The ambivalence of their relationship is also shown in the denial of a request. One of the girls, Yoto, eats. With her behaviour, Metik pleads for food sharing, but does not get anything. Yoto shows her the bites provocatively but does not give her anything. It is remarkable that Metik accepts this decision. However, she pouts.

    Abstract: Es handelt sich um eine Freudenmote (sang mote). Männertanz auf dem sakralen Dorfplatz von Dingakon. Die singenden und tanzenden Männer schließen sich in Spiralform mit erhobenen Pfeilen zu einem kompakten Kreis zusammen und kehren danach in die halbkreisförmige Ausgangsstellung zurück.
    Abstract: For the sang mote males posit themselves in a semicircle shoulder by shoulder. A singer who in most cases also leads the dance starts to sing. The others fall in as a chorus. Following this stationary phase the dancers turn for 90°, and forming a row the leader starts to run in a spiral into the interior of the semicircle followed by those behind him while the other side closes around them, so that dancers form a compact group singing and rocking rhythmically up and down on the spot. The dance ends when the group returns to the starting position which opens the next dance. The text of the songs does not necessarily refer to the motive of the dance. Thus the filmed dance expressed gratitude for presents we had given. But the songs referred to the consequences of the recent earthquake, and expressed sorrow about its victims. In another song, a man boasted of carrying away a woman by force, while others criticzed him for that. Whereupon the boaster gave in.

    Abstract: Nach kurzem Objektkonflikt mit Schlagabtausch beginnen die etwa 4jährige Koumbware und die etwa 18 Monate alte Onguaundjondjose Brennholz in die Hütte zu tragen. Die Mutter von Onguaundjondjose unterbindet das. Koumbware folgt und trägt die eingetragenen Holzstücke wieder hinaus. Onguaundjondjose dagegen trägt unermüdlich hinein, was Koumbware geduldig herausschafft. Daraus entwickelt sich ein Zusammenspiel.
    Abstract: After a brief object conflict with exchange of blows, Koumbware, who is approximately 4 years old, and Onguaundjondjose, who is about 18 months old, begin to carry firewood into the hut. Onguaundjondjose's mother stops this. Koumbware follows him and carries the pieces of wood which have been carried into the hut back out. Onguaundjondjose however tirelessly carries the wood that Koumbware patiently carries out back into the hut. This develops into a kind of game.

    Abstract: Die etwa 4 Jahre Koumbware betreut die 16-18 Monate alte Onguaundjondjose. Sie betätigt sich als Babysitter und tröstet die Kleine geduldig mit großem Engagement. Das Repertoire der Verhaltensweisen des Tröstens ist ausführlich dokumentiert. Später wird ihr ein wenige Monate alter männlicher Säugling kurz zum Liebkosen überreicht. Zuletzt spielt Koumbware mit einer Sandale, die sie wie ein Baby auf ihrem Schoß hält, betätschelt, aber auch kurz bestraft.
    Abstract: Koumbware, who is about 4 years old, cares for the 16-to-18 month-old Onguaundjondjose. She acts as baby-sitter and consoles the little one patiently with great dedication. Her repertoire on consoling behaviour patterns is comprehensively documented. Later a male baby that is only a few months old is given to her for cuddling. Finally, Koumbware plays with a sandal, which she holds on her lap like a baby, caresses it, but also briefly punishes it.

    Abstract: Bei Malingdam ist eines der beliebtesten Knabenspiele der Eipo aufgenommen, das Graspfeilspiel, bei dem zwei Parteien einander mit etwa bleistiftstarken, bis zu 60 cm langen Grasstengel bekämpfen. Sie schleudern diese Graspfeile mit der Hand nach dem Spielgegner. Das Auftreffen schmerzt. Die Jungen üben bei diesem Spiel kriegerisches Geschick und die kulturtypischen Formen aggressiver Selbstdarstellung. Ihr Mienenspiel verrät hohes emotionelles Engagement.
    Abstract: In Malingdam, one of the most popular boys' games, the grass dart game, of the Eipo has been taken up. In it two parties fight each other with grass stems that are about as thick as a pencil and up to 60 cm long. They throw these grass darts at their opponents. Being hit is painful. These youths practice their martial skills and the types of aggressive self-portrayal typical for their culture. Their expressions reveal a high degree of emotional commitment.

    Abstract: Der Film zeigt die verschiedenen, z. T. parallel verlaufenden Phasen eines Wohnhausbaus im Weiler Kabcedama sowie die Herstellung eines Erdofens, das Zubereiten und Garen von Speisen und schließlich die Bewirtung derjenigen, die am Hausbau teilnahmen. Beim Säubern und Schneiden der Taroscheiben sieht man den Gebrauch des traditionellen Schiefermessers im alltäglichen Kontext. Am Hausbau sind auch die Männer der benachbarten Weiler Imarin und Mumyerunde beteiligt. Die Frauen helfen in den späteren Phasen des Hausbaues durch Herbeitragen von Lehm für die Feuerstelle und Blättern für das Dach. Bei der Bewirtung werden die Männer bevorzugt. Nur sie speisen direkt am Erdofen und nur sie erhalten auch Essensgaben zum Heimnehmen. Den Frauen, die sich im Hintergrund halten, werden gegarte Speisen gereicht.
    Abstract: The film shows the different, in part concurrently occurring, phases of house construction in Weiler Kabcedama as well as the fabrication of an earthen oven, the preparation and cooking of food and finally the provision of those who participated in building the house with food and drink. On cleaning and cutting the taro slices, one sees the use of the traditional slate knife in an every-day context. The men of the neighbouring hamlets Imarin and Mumyerunde also participate in building the house. The women help in the later phases of house building by bringing clay for the hearth and leaves for the roof. The men are favoured in the serving of food and drink. Only they eat directly at the earthen oven and only they also receive gifts of food to take home. The women, who remain in the background, are given previously cooked food.

    Abstract: Der Film zeigt das Verhalten einer Mutter zu ihrem etwa einjährigen Sohn Kajepe. Sie herzt ihn, spricht zärtlich zu ihm und duldet, daß Kajepe sie an den Haarsträhnen zieht und ins Gesicht faßt. Zärtliche Gesicht-zu-Gesicht-Interaktionen mit kußartigen Lippenberührungen. Die Kontaktinitiative geht oft von Kajepe aus. Die Mutter stillt und füttert ihn. Zu Beginn neckt sie ihn, indem sie ihm den Zugang zur Brust mit dem Arm verdeckt. Der Säugling nimmt auch Kontakt zu anderen Frauen auf.
    Abstract: The film shows the behaviour of a mother to her approximately one-year-old son Kajepe. She hugs him, speaks affectionately to him, and tolerates Kajepe's pulling on strands of her hair and grasping her face. Affectionate face-to-face interactions with kiss-like lip contacts. Kajepe often demonstrates contact initiative. His mother nurses and feeds him. To begin with, she teases him by covering his access to her breast with her arm. The baby also makes contact to other women.

Die Schlitztrommel wird auf den Reisfeldern zum Vertreiben der Vögel und zur Selbstunterhaltung gespielt.

    Abstract: The film documents the social competence of an approximately 3 1/2-year-old girl in different social interactions of friendly and agonal types, above all in combination with an approximately 4-year-old girl. One sees repeated sharing and object conflicts, which are, among other things, provoked in explorative aggression. Später spielen die beiden allein, wobei auf Distanz aggressive und/oder kämpferische Handlungen mimisch dargestellt werden; besonders tut dies der Junge. (Spiegelaufnahmen)
    Abstract: A little two-year-old boy and his approximately five-year-old sister are playing in front of their hut under the eyes of their mother. During the children's interactions many instances of rivalry and aggressive quarrels about the object with which they are playing can be observed. The little boy acts without any restraint, whereas his elder sister controls her aggressive intentions. There are only a few instances where the mother interferes. Later, both siblings are playing alone. Now we observe their mimic expression of menacing and fighting activities directed towards an imaginery person in "empty space", so to speak.

    Abstract: Das erste und bedeutendste der alljährlichen Totengedenkfeste im Königreich Oku ist die vom Palast veranstaltete Zeremonie. Das Fest beginnt mit dem Teil, den die Geheimgesellschaft Kwifon bestreitet. Zunächst veranstaltet Kwifon in ihrem Gehöft eine geheime Zeremonie, die "Musik von Kwifon". Dabei werden die geheimen Musikinstrumente gespielt und Mabuh, die Läufermaske von Kwifon, tritt auf.
    Abstract: The first and most important of the annual feasts in Oku commemorating the deceased is the ceremony organized by the Royal Palace. It starts with the activities of the secret society Kwifon. In the society's compound on the palace premises Kwifon holds a secret ceremony called "the music of Kwifon". Several secret musical instruments are played and one of Kwifon's masks, Mabuh, appears in the compound.

    Abstract: Bei einer kriegerischen Auseinandersetzung ist ein Mann durch einen Steckschuß am rechten Oberarm verletzt worden. Gleich nach der Verwundung und am Tag darauf versuchen zwei Männer, mit spitzen Holzstäbchen einen noch im Gewebe verbliebenen Fremdkörper aus der Wunde zu entfernen, was nicht gelingt. Bemerkenswert ist die stoische Haltung des Verletzten während der Manipulation in der tiefen Fleischwunde.

Immediately after he was wounded and on the following day two men attempted to remove the foreign object that is still lodged in the tissue from the wound with sharpened wooden rods; the attempts fail. The stoical behaviour of the wounded man during the manipulations in the deep flesh wound is remarkable.

Der Vater stemmt ihn wiederholt hoch. Kajepe spielt mit dem Schnupftabakbehälter seines Vaters, wird dann geneckt durch Hinhalten und Wegziehen des begehrten Objektes. Kajepe wird kopfabwärts an den Beinen gehalten und pendelnd geschaukelt. Babysprache. Zuletzt Unterhaltung der nebeneinander sitzenden Eltern Kajepes und neuerliches Spielen des Vaters.

    Abstract: Auch in Kulturen, in denen Puppen nicht kommerziell hergestellt oder von den Eltern den Kindern angeboten werden, spielen Mädchen gerne mit Puppen. Verschiedene Gegenstände dienen ihnen als Puppenersatz, und oft stellen sie kleine Püppchen selbst her. Der Film stellt Kleinkinder und Mädchen der Himba beim Puppenspiel vor. Die ersten Einstellungen zeigen zwei kleine Mädchen, die eine Sandale als Puppenersatz auf dem Rücken herumtragen. Dann sieht man Mädchen, die Puppen aus Holzstückchen herstellen, sie bekleiden und betreuen. Sie überlassen sie Kleinkindern zum Spielen und helfen dabei, eine Puppe zum Stillen anzulegen.
    Abstract: Even in cultures in which dolls are not commercially manufactured or offered by the children's parents, girls like to play with dolls. Different objects serve as substitutes for dolls, and they often make small dolls themselves. The film presents small Himba children and girls playing with dolls. The first takes show two small girls who are carrying a sandal on their backs as a substitute for a doll. One subsequently sees girls making dolls from pieces of wood; they dress them and care for them. They let small children play with them and help them give the doll their breasts for nursing.

    Abstract: Die 1 1/2jährige Libunagawa als Hauptakteurin in liebevollem Bezug zur Mutter und anderen Kindern verschiedenen Geschlechts. Der Film belegt die Kontaktinitiative des kleinen Mädchens und die Freundlichkeit der sozialen Umwelt, welche das Kind aktiv erkundet. Auch beim spielerischen Abschaben von Bananenblattstreifen nimmt es mit seiner sozialen Umwelt Kontakt auf. Die Mutter bleibt die bevorzugte Bezugsperson und sichere Basis, von der aus das Kind exploriert. Ein kurzer Objektkonflikt zeigt, daß Libunagawa sich durchaus auch aggressiv behauptet. Stillakte und zärtliche Interaktionen mit der Mutter unterbrechen die Interaktionen mit anderen.
    Abstract: The 1 1/2-year old Libunagawa as the main character in affectionate regard to her mother and other children of different genders. The film documents the contact initiative of the small girl and the friendliness of her social environment, which the child actively explores. Even when playfully scraping off banana leaf strips, she maintains contact with her social environment. The mother remains the preferred significant other and the safe base from which the child explores. A short object conflict shows that Libunagawa can clearly hold her own in an aggressive situation. Nursing acts and affectionate interaction with her mother interrupt interactions with other people.

    Abstract: In dem Überschwemmungsgebiet der Theiß - auf einer Länge von ungefähr 100 Kilometern - in der großen ungarischen Tiefebene lebten in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten mehrere Roma-Gemeinschaften auch davon, daß sie aus den Bäumen des Waldes Holztröge, Werkzeuge, ja sogar Einbäume schnitzten. In dem Gebiet von Poroszló fällen sie Pappeln und stellen aus ihnen Tröge her, in Tiszafüred Holzlöffel. Sie arbeiten mit Zimmermannswerkzeugen. In ihren Arbeiten vermischen sich die Kunstgriffe des Holzhandwerks von professionellen Handwerkern und von Bastlern.
    Abstract: In the flood area of the Theiss - at a length of about 100 kilometres - in the Great Plain of Hungary several Rroma groups, in the past decades, earned their living also by making throughs, tools, even dugouts, from tree trunks. In the region Poroszló they cut down poplars in the forest and hollow out troughs, at Tiszafüred they carve ladles. They use carpenter's tools. Their techniques are a mixture of professional and amateur methods.

    Abstract: The first and most important of the annual feasts in Oku commemorating the deceased is the ceremony organized by the Royal Palace. Following the activities of the secret society Kwifon, Chong appears, a society well-known for its musical instruments. Then the wives of the king of Oku, organized as members of Fimbien, the women's society, appear in front of the palace and perform dances.

Er findet sie im Loch eines großen Baumes, nimmt die Wabe heraus und übersiedelt die Bienen in die eigenen Bienenstöcke.
    Abstract: The cinematographic sequences were produced in the northern Hungarian village of Bernecebaráti. József Pálinkás, an old beekeeper, observes the bees in the forests which surround the village. He finds them in a hole in a large tree, takes out the honeycomb, and transfers the bees to one of his own beehives.

Auch diese Masken werden von gruppeneigenen Musikinstrumenten begleitet.

Anschließend führen sieben Medizinmänner ein öffentliches Medizinritual durch.

During the final part of the one-week-ceremonies the influential military societies have their public appearances. One of them is Nfuh. The group dances in front of the spectators accompanied by a huge ivory trumpet. Afterwards seven medicine men publicly carry out a medicine ritual.

    Abstract: Besides the cradle the stile chest is the oldest piece of furniture to be found in farm-houses. Its history can be traced back to the Bronze Age. In the fifties there was a woodworker living at Szuhahuta (North Hungary) who, together with his wife, still knew the old techniques of chest-making. The couple make a stile chest for sale.

    Abstract: In der für die Filmaufnahmen bestellten Aufführung spielt der Musiker und Bauer Berlian Kabeakan aus dem Dorf Petall bei Sukaramai auf der offenen Längsflöte sordam. Die Bambusflöte besitzt vier Grifflöcher. Das der musikalischen Selbstunterhaltung wie Unterhaltung im kleinen Kreis dienende Flötenspiel beruht zum Teil auf Gesangsvorlagen aus dem Volksliedgut der Pakpak.
    Abstract: In a performance ordered for the film the musician and farmer Berlian Kabeakan from Petall village near Sukaramai plays on the open end-blown flute 〈i〉sordam〈/i〉. The bamboo flute has four finger-holes. The music, played for self-entertainment or in a small circle, is partly based on Pakpak folk-songs.

    Abstract: Am Vormittag bringen Mitglieder der Familie Sembiring an einem heiligen Platz den Ahnen ein Opfer dar. Zwei Frauen stellen den Kontakt zu den Geistern her. Am Nachmittag wird bei der heiligen Quelle - Wohnsitz eines Ahnengeistes - wiederum ein Opfer dargebracht und die rituelle Haarwaschung durchgeführt. Am Abend und in der Nacht werden im Haus die Zeremonialtänze aufgeführt. Im Verlauf des Festes werden wiederholt Frauen von verschiedenen Geistern, die sich am Fest beteiligen, besessen.
    Abstract: In the morning members of the Sembiring family offer a sacrifice to the ancestors in a holy place. Two women enter in relations to the spirits. In the afternoon a further offering is made at the sacred spring - seat of an ancestor spirit - and a ritual hair-washing takes place. In the evening and in the night the ceremonial dances are performed in the house. In the course of the feast women are repeatedly possessed by different spirits taking part in the feast.

    Abstract: Die Teilnehmer des alle vier Jahre durchgeführten Mittwinterbrauches sammeln sich am 5. Januar in Badgastein zum Umzug. Der Perchtenzug hält vor den Häusern, die Perchten begrüßen die Bewohner durch einen Tanz und erweisen ihnen die Ehre durch eine Verneigung. Nach Segenswünschen des Perchtenhauptmannes zieht die Gruppe weiter. Am Umzug beteiligen sich außer der "schönen" Perchten auch Schreckgestalten, wie der maskierte und pelzbekleidete Klaubauf, aber auch sonstige Brauchsfiguren wie Bärenführer, Hanswurst, Habergeiß, Händler, Schleifersmann, Zapfmandel und andere. An zwei Tagen werden die Häuser der Ortschaften in der Gastein besucht. Am 6. Januar wird das Perchtenlaufen in Bad Hofgastein beendet.
    Abstract: The participants of this midwinter custom, which is carried out every four years, gather in Bad Gastein for the parade on 5 January. The Perchtenlauf procession stops in front of the houses, the Perchten greet the inhabitants with a dance and honour them by bowing. After the Perchten leader has given his good wishes, the group moves on. Other than the "beautiful" Perchten, dreadful figures, such as the "Klaubauf", who is masked and dressed in fur, but also other traditional figures such as the bear leader, "Hanswurst", "Habergeis", the trader, "Schleifersmann", barman, and others also participate in the procession. The houses of the towns in Gastein are visited for two days. The Perchenlauf activities ends in Bad Hofgastein on 6 January.

    Abstract: Die für die Filmaufnahme bestellten elf Musiker spielen vier Stücke auf dem zur Zeremonialmusik gehörenden Instrumentensatz Genderang, bestehend aus einer Sarunei (Oboe), neun Trommeln, drei Gongs, einer Aufschlagplatte Pongpong und dem Gongspiel Gerantung mit vier horizontal aufgehängten Eisentellern. Die Stücke Gendang dudu pitu kali (Segen siebenmal), Gendang Raja (Gendang für den Raja), Gendang gajah mengiring gajah (Der Gajah [Opferbüffel] führt den Gajah) und Ende-ende juma gulangen (Das Lied von der Bergfarm) werden zur Begleitung der Zeremonialtänze bei Hochzeiten gespielt, das letzte auch bei dem Fest für die Jugend (Pesta muda-mudi).
    Abstract: The eleven musicians chosen for the filmed sequences play four pieces using the Genderang set of instruments that are traditionally used for ceremonial music. It consists of a "Sarunei" (oboe), nine drums, three gongs, a "Pongpong" striking plate and the "Gerantung" gong set with four horizontally suspended iron plates. The "Gedang dudu pitu kalie" (sevenfold blessing) "Gedang Raja" (Gedang for the "Raja"), "Gendang gajah mengiring gajah" (The Gajah [sacrificial buffalo] leads the Gajah) and "Ende-ende juma gulangen" (The Song about the alpine farm) are used to accompany the ceremonial dances at weddings, the last one is also played at the Festival for Youth (Pesta muda-mudi).

    Abstract: Die für die Filmaufnahme bestellten fünf Musiker spielen die Stücke "Das Nicken der Tauben" und "Das Klagen der Fische", die auf gesungenen Vorlagen beruhen. Die kleine, heute ausschließlich zur Unterhaltung spielende Instrumentalbesetzung besteht aus dem Xylophon kalondang und der Kernspaltflöte lobat. Auf dem Xylophon mit neun an einer Schnur hängenden Klangplatten spielen zwei Musiker.
    Abstract: Five musicians, engaged for the film, play the pieces "The Nodding of the Doves" and "The Wailing of the Fishes", based on songs. The small orchestra, today playing for entertainment only, consists of the xylophone 〈i〉kalondang〈/i〉 and the flue pipe 〈i〉lobat〈/i〉. The xylophone, made of nine bars suspended by a cord, is played by two musicians.

    Abstract: Ein Kinder-Gaban, ein Überwurf aus Wolle, wird hergestellt. Während Frau Juana Nunez Balverde die Wolle wäscht und reinigt, kämmt ihr Mann José Sanchez Vera gewaschene Wolle. Juana spinnt diese, während José die Kettfäden schärt und verzettelt. Der Gaban wird auf einem Trittwebstuhl gewoben. Das brochierte Muster wird von José Sanchez Nunez, Sohn von José und Juana, gefertigt. Zum Schluß wäscht Juana die Fransen und verdreht sie.
    Abstract: A Gabial (poncho/scarf) for a child is being made. Juana Nunez Balverde washes and cleans the wool and her husband José Sanchez Vera combs it. Juana spins the wool whilst José prepares the warp. The Gaban is woven on a treadle-loom. The stitched pattern is made by José Sanchez Nunez, José son, together with Juana. Finally Juana washes and knots the fringe.
