Abstract:
Das erste und bedeutendste der alljährlichen Totengedenkfeste im Königreich Oku ist die vom Palast veranstaltete Zeremonie. Den umfangreichsten Teil des Festes nehmen die öffentlichen Tanzauftritte der Maskengesellschaften ein. Zu ihnen gehören die machtvolle Nontang-Gesellschaft und die Mukong-Gesellschaft aus Ngashie. Ihre Maskenauftritte, begleitet von gruppeneigenen Musikinstrumenten, werden von zahlreichen Zuschauern verfolgt.
Abstract:
The first and most important of the annual feasts in Oku commemorating the deceased is the ceremony organized by the Royal Palace. The largest part of the feast consists of the dances of the mask societies, among them the powerful Nontang and Mukong from the village of Ngashie. Many spectators watch as these mask groups dance accompanied by music made by members of their own society.
