    Abstract: Zur Erhaltung der nach dem II. Weltkrieg gegründeten Glashütte in Wolfach/Schwarzwald leistet auch der Fremdenverkehr einen Beitrag. Nach einem "Schaublasen" für Touristen zeigt der Film das Drechseln einer Holzform, Beschicken des Ofens mit Schmelzgut, das Herstellen von Weingläsern, das Auswechseln eines Schmelzhafens, das aufwendige Verfahren bei der Herstellung von Überfanggläsern sowie Schliff und Qualitätskontrolle. Die einzelnen Arbeitsschritte werden von den Betroffenen selbst erläutert.
    Abstract: Tourism is a factor guaranteeing the existence of the glassworks at Wolfach/Black Forest, founded after World War II. After an "exhibition blowing" for tourists, the film shows the turning of a wooden mould, the putting of the melting-charge into the furnace, the making of wineglasses, the exchange of a glasshouse pot, the complicated manufacture of cover glasses, the graving, and the final check. The different operations are explained by the workers.

    Abstract: Drei Männer der Handwerkerfamilie Pantelakis aus Pyrgos demonstrieren an einer Hauswand die Technik der Kratzputzmalerei (Xista). Weiße Kalkfarbe wird auf den noch feuchten Putz aufgetragen und gleichmäßig verstrichen. Bevor Farbe und Putz trocknen, wird mit Hilfe von Gabeln und Nägeln durch die Kalkschicht hindurch die Oberfläche des Putzes an vorgezeichneten Stellen abgekratzt. Zurück bleibt eine schwarzweiß ornamentierte Fläche.
    Abstract: Three men from Pyrgos, members of the Pantelakis craftsmen family, demonstrate the technique of sgraffito (Xista) on the wall of a house. Whitewash is spread on the moist plaster and brushed evenly over the surface. Before whitewash and plaster dry, the plaster surface, with forks and nails, is scratched through the whitewash in marked places. The result is a black and white ornament on the wall.

    Abstract: In 1985 the Museum of Rafts at Weyer celebrates its tenth anniversary. On this occasion an Enns raft is built by the traditional method from pine trunks. Former raftsmen and woodcutters show for the last time their ability. The film presents all the stages of the work, from the woodcutting, disbranching, and decorating over the wood haulage to the fastening together of the trunks.

In Familien und bei besonderen Anlässen werden sie eingeladen, so von der Familie Hennis und der Schützengesellschaft von 1367, wo sie das Dreikönigslied ausführlich und außerdem weitere Lieder vortragen.

    Abstract: In einer kleingewerblich geführten Pelz- und Sämischgerberei in Rasing bei Mariazell werden 150-160 Hirsch-, Gams- und Rehhäute für die Verarbeitung zu Lederbekleidung gegerbt. Es handelt sich um Fettgerbung. Althergebrachte Geräte (Gerberbaum, Schabeisen, Walke) sind noch in Verwendung, nur zum Teil kommen neuere (Stollmaschine, Bimsmaschine) zum Einsatz.
    Abstract: In a family-owned workshop the chamois-dressing with blubber of 150-160 deer-; chamois- and roe-skins is done for work into leather-dresses. Traditional tools (scraping-wood, scraping-knife) are still in use. Tub, fulling-mill and a wringing-machine are run by waterpower. Just partly there are used more modern equipments (stretching-machine, pumice-machine) as well as electricity.

    Abstract: Den Höhepunkt des brauchtümlichen Faschingsgeschehens im Salinenort Ebensee bildet der "Fetzenzug". Vornehmlich männliche Teilnehmer, als alte, häßliche, zerlumpte Weiber verkleidet, ziehen, von Herolden, Prinzenpaar, Pritschenmeistern und Blasmusikkapelle begleitet, am Nachmittag des Faschingsmontages durch den Ort. Anschließend an den Umzug lassen die "Fetzen" ihrer Ausgelassenheit in den Straßen, den Wirtshäusern und beim Ball im Rathaus freien Lauf.
    Abstract: On carnival's monday afternoon a lot of ugly masked "Hutzen" and "Fetzen" have a meeting in the pub "Langbathtal" to march together through the village. They splash and beset the spectators. Subsequent they roam the pubs. In the evening there is a "Fetzenball" in the town hall.

    Abstract: Eine der letzten Siedepfannensalinen Mitteleuropas: natürliche Salzsole wird in offene Siedepfannen gepumpt. Das dort zu Boden gesunkene Salz wird von den Siedern an den Pfannenrand gezogen, abgesaugt, getrocknet und verpackt. Neben dieser besonderen Art der Salzgewinnung steht der mit dem geringen Technisierungsgrad eng zusammenhängende Arbeitsalltag in der Saline im Mittelpunkt des Films.

    Abstract: In Exten, Kreis Rinteln, formt der Spatenschmiedemeister Adolf Kretzer mit Hilfe eines wassergetriebenen Schmiedehammers Spatenblätter, die dann weiterverarbeitet werden. Im zweiten Teil des Films werden den traditionellen Arbeitsmethoden maschinelle Produktionsverfahren gegenübergestellt: Mit der Anschaffung neuer Maschinen einher geht die allmähliche Ablösung des überlieferten handgeschmiedeten Spatentyps durch einen aus gewalztem Bandmaterial hergestellten Stahlblechspaten.

    Abstract: Den Höhepunkt des brauchtümlichen Faschingsgeschehens im Salinenort Ebensee bildet der "Fetzenzug". Vornehmlich männliche Teilnehmer, als alte, häßliche, zerlumpte Weiber verkleidet, ziehen, von Herolden, Prinzenpaar, Pritschenmeistern und Blasmusikkapelle begleitet, am Nachmittag des Faschingsmontages durch den Ort. Anschließend an den Umzug lassen die "Fetzen" ihrer Ausgelassenheit in den Straßen, den Wirtshäusern und beim Ball im Rathaus freien Lauf.
    Abstract: On carnival's monday afternoon a lot of ugly masked "Hutzen" and "Fetzen" have a meeting in the pub "Langbathtal" to march together through the village. They splash and beset the spectators. Subsequent they roam the pubs. In the evening there is a "Fetzenball" in the town hall.

    Abstract: In einer kleingewerblich geführten Pelz- und Sämischgerberei in Rasing bei Mariazell werden 150-160 Hirsch-, Gams- und Rehhäute für die Verarbeitung zu Lederbekleidung gegerbt. Es handelt sich um Fettgerbung. Althergebrachte Geräte (Gerberbaum, Schabeisen, Walke) sind noch in Verwendung, nur zum Teil kommen neuere (Stollmaschine, Bimsmaschine) zum Einsatz.
    Abstract: In a family-owned workshop the chamois-dressing with blubber of 150-160 deer-; chamois- and roe-skins is done for work into leather-dresses. Traditional tools (scraping-wood, scraping-knife) are still in use. Tub, fulling-mill and a wringing-machine are run by waterpower. Just partly there are used more modern equipments (stretching-machine, pumice-machine) as well as electricity.

    Abstract: Der Uhrenschildmaler Karl Straub (geb. 1892) stellt ein Uhrenschild mit dem traditionellen Rosenmuster im Bogenfeld her: Eine Sperrholzplatte wird weiß grundiert, mit Hilfe einer Pappschablone mit schwarzem Zifferblatt versehen und aus freier Hand mit farbigen Blumenmotiven bemalt.
    Abstract: Karl Straub (born 1892) is one of the last painters of clockfaces in the Black Forest. The film shows him during his work, in this way it is possible to duplicate the completion of a clockface. In the beginning the panel gets its priming, then the dail is formed and following the empty spaces are decorated. Typical for clocks from the region around Furtwangen is the rose in the arc, for which decoration Karl Straub devotes most of his attention. Apart from the painting the film also imparts how the paint is used and which tools the painter needs.

    Abstract: In der Marktgemeinde Schwarzenberg wie auch in anderen Pfarren des Bregenzerwaldes ist es Brauch, daß zu bestimmten Anlässen als Zeichen der Trauer und des Totengedenkens von jeweils einer Frau einer Großfamilie zur allgemein üblichen Sonntags- und Feiertagstracht die "Leidstucha" und der "Leidmantel" getragen werden. Der Film zeigt die Einbindung dieser besonderen Trauertracht in die brauchmäßige Begehung des ortsüblichen Totengedächtnisses an den Familien-"Jahrtagen" oder "-Jahrzeiten", wobei der zeitliche Handlungsablauf und der soziale Kontext desselben im Vordergrund des Interesses stehen.
    Abstract: In the market-town of Schwarzenberg, as in other parishes of the Bregenzerwald, it is still the custom that on certain occasions and as a sign of mourning and remembrance of the dead, a woman from each family will wear, in addition to the usual costume for Sundays, a "mourning head-scarf" and "mourning-cape". The film stresses how this special outfit is used during the course of these remembrances on so-called "Family Anniversaries", and its social context.

    Abstract: Ein 5,67 m langer Schwarzföhrenstamm wird von Zimmerleuten teils mit althergebrachten Geräten (Zimmermannsschnur, Breitbeil, Handhobel, Reifmesser, Bohrer), teils mit modernen Maschinen (Motorsäge, Handhobelmaschine) und teils mit improvisierten Behelfen (Stangenzirkel) als Wellbaum zugerichtet. Nachdem der schmiedeeiserne Anker eingesetzt worden ist und hierauf die Spannringe aufgezogen worden sind, wird dieser Grindlbaum in die Sägemühle beim Waldbauernmuseum in Gutenstein eingebaut. Siehe auch Film E 2755 des ÖWF "Herstellen eines hölzernen Wasserrades".
    Abstract: A 5,67 m long trunk of a black pine is processed into an axle-tree by traditional tools ( carpenter's twine, broad hatchet, plane, drawknife, auger), simple machinery (power-saw, hand-planer) and improvised tools (beam compasses). After the wrought-iron tie is fitted in place the hoops are tilted on. Then the axle-tree is fitted into saw-mill of the Waldbauern-Museum in Gutenstein.     Abstract: This film shows the work of the dyer Josef Koó from Burgenland who uses a centuries-old resist technique to print patterns on material. A resist paste is applied to the material, which is dyed in an indigo vat and then dried. The reserve is removed, and after another drying it is smoothed and shined with a mangle. It is then sold in the market.

    Abstract: Die mehrwöchige Schwarmzeit der Heidebienen beginnt Anfang Juni mit dem Abgehen der Vorschwärme. In der Imkerei Georg Klindworth in Langenfelde bei Sittensen werden die schwarmbereiten Korbvölker in dem am Gehöft gelegenen Bienenstand gesammelt. Sobald ein Vorschwarm mit der alten Königin den Korb verläßt, fängt der Imker ihn in einem vorgesteckten Schwarmfangbeutel ein. Nachdem die Bienen im Beutel eine Schwarmtraube gebildet haben, werden die Vorschwärme zum Verkauf in Versandkisten gefüllt.
    Abstract: Swarming time for the bees on the heath lands starts an the beginning of june and lasts several weeks. Instantly a pre-swarm with the old queen leaves the hive they are caught in a net. When the bees in the bag have made a stable ball, they are placed in boxes and sent for sale.

    Abstract: Ein 5,67 m langer Schwarzföhrenstamm wird von Zimmerleuten teils mit althergebrachten Geräten (Zimmermannsschnur, Breitbeil, Handhobel, Reifmesser, Bohrer), teils mit modernen Maschinen (Motorsäge, Handhobelmaschine) und teils mit improvisierten Behelfen (Stangenzirkel) als Wellbaum zugerichtet. Nachdem der schmiedeeiserne Anker eingesetzt worden ist und hierauf die Spannringe aufgezogen worden sind, wird dieser Grindlbaum in die Sägemühle beim Waldbauernmuseum in Gutenstein eingebaut.     Abstract: A 5,67 m long trunk of a black pine is processed into an axle-tree by traditional tools ( carpenter's twine, broad hatchet, plane, drawknife, auger), simple machinery (power-saw, hand-planer) and improvised tools (beam compasses). After the wrought-iron tie is fitted in place the hoops are tilted on. Then the axle-tree is fitted into saw-mill of the Waldbauern-Museum in Gutenstein. The film shows the entire work-process, beginning with the cutting of the hide, the removing of the hair, and the plaiting itself to the greasing and racking of the finished product. Leather cords of this kind were used to bind hay, logs of wood, and other materials during transport.

    Abstract: In a snowed-up forest of the Mühlviertel sledges for the transport of wood are being pulled uphill by dogs. Having arrived at the working place, the sledges are loaded with timber. On their way back at the steep slopes the dogs are running at large behind the quickly gliding sledges, driven by the woodworkes. On an even path the sledge is drawn by both, man and dog.

    Abstract: Ein Hundegespann zieht einen Schlitten über durch Ebbe freigelegte Schlickflächen und durch Wasserrinnen zu den im Watt stehenden Reusen. Je nach Bodenbeschaffenheit steht der Krabbenfischer hinten auf dem Schlitten, schiebt eventuell mit einem Fuß an oder geht daneben her. An der Fangstelle entleert er die Reusen und schüttet den Fang auf einen Holzrost; durch Rütteln des Rostes sortiert er die großen Krabben aus. Etwa 90% des Fangs wird zurückgelassen.
    Abstract: A sledge is drawn on tidal mudflats by a team of dogs. At the place where he has set fish-traps the fisherman stops the sledge and empties the fish-traps. He pours the caught shrimps on a trellis and sorts out the big ones by vibrating the trellis. Nearly nine tenths of the catch are left in the tidal gutter and in the mud.

    Abstract: Der vom Webstuhl heruntergenommene Stoff wird in eine außerhalb des Dorfes gelegene Walkemühle gebracht, dort in eine Holzmulde gelegt und von zwei durch eine Nockenwelle angetriebenen Holzhämmer geschlagen (gewalkt). Zwischendurch wird der Stoff mit heißem Wasser begossen. Nach dem Walken wird er zum Trocknen in die Sonne gelegt.
    Abstract: The fabric removed from the loom is taken to a fulling-mill outside the village. There it is placed into a wooden trough and beaten (fulled) by two mallets operated by cam shaft. Ocasionally hot water is sprinkled on the cloth. After fulling the cloth is left in the sun to dry.

    Abstract: At Kristiansand south of Trondheim a horse is led to a farrier. The farrier unshoes the horse and pares the hooves. The film then shows the different operations of forging horseshoes: streching and bending the iron, hammering the cavities to receive the heads of the horseshoe-nails, striking holes for the nails, welding a handle. Finally, the horseshoe is nailed to the foot of the horse with eight horseshoe-nails.

Brauchträger war die Turn- und Sportunion.

    Abstract: A West Norwegian sumpter-horse, a Fjording, is saddled and loaded. Driver and horse pass over the fjord in a rowing-boat and climb the steep slope of the fjord up to a diary hut. Akteure: Sprecher, Müller, Weber - Weberin, Hanswurst - Weib, Schneider - Schneiderin, Schuster - Schusterin, Bauer - Bäuerin, Schreiber - Schreiberin, Chor der Männer und Weiber, Kapelle. Inhalt des Spiels: In der Mühle werden die Eheweiber auf Wunsch ihrer Männer verjüngt. Nachher verschmähen sie aber ihren alten Gatten und folgen jungen Kavalieren nach. Beim Hanswurstweib versagt die Mühle. Sie wird älter und häßlicher.
    Abstract: The musical comedy with spoken insertions is performed after the Shrove Monday's carnival parade in the market-place. The performance is organized by the "Freie Narrenzunft" (Free Fool's Company). Actors: speaker, miller, weaver - weaver's wife, buffoon - buffoon's wife, taylor - taylor's wife, cobbler - cobbler's wife, peasant - peasant's wife, clerk - clerk's wife, chorus of men and women, band. Subject of the play: At their husband's desire the wives are rejuvenated in the mill, but afterwards reject their old husbands and follow youg gallants. As the buffoon also wants his wife to be rejuvenated, the mill fails and the buffoon's wife is older and uglier than ever before.

Das Auffinden einer mit Stroh ausgestopften Schafhaut leitet eine zeremonielle Brauchhandlung ein: Trauerzugparodie, Verbrennen der Schafhaut, Tanz.
    Abstract: The sheaves spread out are treshed with flails. The threshers are working in teams of five persons arranged in two lines close to each other. The discovery of a stuffed sheepskin is the beginning of a ceremonial threshing custom. After nightfall the sheepskin is burnt in the open air.

Auch andere verkleidete Gestalten, wie Lotter und Lütterin, Wunderarzt mit Begleiter, Kettenteufel, treten auf. Die mit Holzlarven maskierten Klaubaufgestalten versuchen, den in der Ecke der Stube stehenden Tisch zu entfernen und attackieren die Anwesenden.
    Abstract: Santa Claus enters the houses and makes a speech. His attendant distributes nuts. Other disguised persons appear: "Lotter" and "Lütterin", quack doctor and attendant. The "Klaubaufs", disguised with wooden masks, try to remove the table in the corner of the room and attack the persons present.

    Abstract: Aus Roggenmehl, Salz, Wasser und Sauerteig bereitet eine Bäuerin in ihrer Küche den Brotteig zu. Den gegangenen Teig trägt sie auf dem Kopf zum Gemeindebackhaus, wo sie runde Brotlaibe formt. Das Heizen mit Reisig und Einschießen der Brote von mehreren Familien gleichzeitig besorgt ein Mann, der Forneiro. Nach Einschießen Gebet. Die fertigen Brote werden mit einem Strohwisch gesäubert und nach Hause getragen.

    Abstract: Das Zusammenwirken und die unterschiedliche Interessensverteilung der Mitglieder der Großfamilie Trost in Matrei (Osttirol) bei der Herstellung von Klaubaufmasken. Das Modellieren der Klaubaufköpfe aus Fensterkitt, die als Vorbilder für die Schnitzarbeiten dienen, findet in der Wohnküche statt. Die Schnitzarbeiten, das Bemalen, die Auspolsterung und Fertigstellung werden in der Werkstatt durchgeführt.

    Abstract: Mit Hilfe der Hebelade werden drei lange Baumstämme zuerst am Wurzelende angehoben, so daß der Vorderwagen eines Ackerwagens untergeschoben werden kann, dann am Zopfende zum Unterschieben des Hinterwagens. Um Stämme, Vorder- und Hinterwagen fest miteinander zu verbinden, werden drei Eisenketten darumgeschlungen.
    Abstract: Three straight logs are lifted at their bottom ends by means of the timber lifting jack. When they are high enough, the force-carriage of a farm wagon is pushed underneath and the load is lowered on to the pillow of the carriage. Then the top ends of the logs are lifted in the same way, the rear-carriage is pushed under the load and the timber lifting jack is moved away. In order to secure the logs safely to the wagon during transport three iron chains are fastened around the load.

Gefischt wird zu Fuß am Strand oder im Wasser mit einem Netzsack, der an einen Holzreifen mit Stiel angeknüpft ist (Frauen), sowie von Booten aus mit Rechen und Bootshaken (Männer). Der gesammelte Seetang wird entweder auf Tragen oder mit Ochsenkarren zum Trockenplatz geschafft.
    Abstract: The film shows the fishing of sea tang, carried on at low water, when the rocks stand up out of the water and boats and rafts may easily pass. The women fish on foot on the beach or in the water, the men from boats. The collected sea tang is carried to the drying-ground with hand-barrows or with ox-carts.

Die Luzien sagen einen Spruch auf und drohen den Kindern. Ihre Requisiten sind: Sichel und Wetzstein sowie ein Gefäß mit einem Holzlöffel.
    Abstract: In the area of Cham (Upper Palatinate) a bogy appears at the eve of Dec. 13th, the day of Saint Lucia, which is called "Luzia" or "Luzl". About the year 1930 this custom was still practised in the whole of north-east Bavaria especially by the farm workers. "Luzia" threatens to rip up the children's stomachs with her sickle and to fill them with bricks. Today this figure is widely rejected because of its negative effects on the children's minds.

    Abstract: Auf der offenen Feuerstelle in einer Almhütte wird in einer Pfanne Plente aus Butter, Salz, Wasser und Maismehl unter ständigem Rühren zubereitet. Auf dem heißen Brei werden Butter und Käse verteilt. Nach einem Gebet beginnt das gemeinsame Mahl, indem jeder mit seinem Löffel in die Pfanne (die auf einem hölzernen Pfannenhalter auf den Tisch kommt) nach Plente und in eine gemeinsame Schüssel nach Milch greift.
    Abstract: One of the ordinary dishes in the Gsies valley is a maize-pap called plente. Plente is cooked in a pan set on the fireplace in the centre of the Alpine dairy-farm. Butter is melted and salt and water are added. Then maize-flour is mixed in the water, stirred and boiled into a pap. To achieve a better detaching of the crust of the pap, the edge of the pan is repeatedly smeared with run butter. Finally pats of butter and cheese are distributed on the hot pap. The pan is set in a wooden pan-holder and put on the table with bowls of milk. After praying everybody begins to eat, dipping his spoon into the pan of plente and into the bowl of milk.

    Abstract: Die "Historische Gesellschaft Lazarus Strohmanus Jülich" (Generalversammlung und Vorbereitung am Fastnachtssonntag) führt im Rahmen eines öffentlichen Schaubrauches alljährlich am Fastnachtsdienstag das Aufwerfen einer Strohfigur vor: Umzug durch die Stadt, Aufwerfen, Einzug in die Wirtschaften, Ausstellung des Lazarus vor dem Rathaus und Schlüsselübergabe. Am Schluß wird die entkleidete Strohfigur in die Ruhr geworfen.
    Abstract: Every year on Shrove Tuesday the "Historische Gesellschaft Lazarus Strohmanus Jülich" (Historic Society Lazarus Strohmanus Jülich) performs in public the custom of throwing up a straw figure. The film presents in chronological order the general meeting of the performers and supporters of this custom (with "national song", commemoration of the dead, conferring of medals and swearing), the preparations for the performance (studying of the reprimanding verses, making of the brooms), and the principal phases of the performance: procession across the town, throwing up of the straw figure, entry into the inns, exhibition of the "Lazarus" in front of the town hall, and delivery of the keys of the town. Finally the undressed straw figure is thrown into Rur.

    Abstract: Im Hügelgebiet des inneren Sörlandes wird von einer Bauernfamilie auf einer Unterlage aus Birkenzweigen Heu um einen Mittelpfosten herum bündelweise aufgeschichtet. Der Heuschober wird mit einem Windschutz aus Birkenzweigen abgedeckt.
    Abstract: In the hill-country of interior Sörland a haystack is built at a height of about 600 metres by a farmer's family. Hay-bundles are heaped up on a foundation of birch twigs around a pillar, alternately with shrubby birch twigs to improve the ventilation. These twigs are fixed by pairs to the pillar and help to hold the haystack together. The stack is carefully shaped and beaten into form and then fastened at the top with a ring of birch twigs. Finally a windbreak is made from long straight birch branches which are tied together at the upper end and put all-round the stack.

    Abstract: Buben der 8. Volksschulklasse bauen aus Stroh, Buchs und Sade eine überlebensgroße Figur, die sie am Sonntag Lätare durchs Dorf führen. Sie schwingen lange, bebänderte Stangen und sagen vor den Häusern einen langen Heischespruch auf. Sie erhalten Eier und Geld. Am Nachmittag wird die Figur auf einer Anhöhe verbrannt. Abends finden sich die Buben mit den Mädchen des gleichen Jahrgangs zu einem Eieressen und anschließendem Tanz zusammen. =e The fourteen-year-old boys make a ten feet high figure from straw, box, and sabine. On Laetare Sunday this puppet is being guided through the village. The boys swing long ribboned poles and say a gift asking rhyme in front of all houses. They receive eggs and money from the inhabitants. In the afternoon the figure is being burnt on a hill. In the evening the boys meet the girls of the same age for eating the collected eggs and for a dance.

    Abstract: Am Morgen des zweiten Sonntags im Mai reiten die Teilnehmer, die eine Reliquie des hl. Gangolf mit sich führen, in feierlicher Prozession zur Gangolfskapelle. Dort erfolgt durch Geistliche die Weihe der Gangolfsquelle und der Pferde. Gegen Krankheiten reiben sich die Menschen mit Wasser ein oder trinken es.
    Abstract: At Neudenau on the Jagst, on St. Gangolf's day in May, horses are decorated and ridden in a solemn procession at St. Gangolf's chapel outside the town. A relic of St. Gangolf is carried too in the procession. At the chapel clergymen bless the source of St. Gangolf, then the slowly passing horses. In illness the water of the source is also used by men: they rub their body with it and drink it.

    Abstract: Auf der offenen Feuerstelle in einer Almhütte werden in einem großen Kupferkessel Milch und Molke zum Gerinnen gebracht. Der Topfen wird abgeschöpft und in Holzschalen gelegt, bis die Molke abgeflossen ist. Der fertige Topfen wird dann mit Kümmel und Anis verknetet und in faustgroßen, kegelförmigen Klumpen auf ein Holzbrett gestellt.
    Abstract: A large copper vessel with milk is hanging over the fireplace in an alpine dairy-hut. After removing impurities the milk is covered and heated. When the milk is near the boiling point, whey is added and little by little the milk, constantly controlled with the wooden ladle, is coagulated by stirring, adding more whey and regulating the temperature of the fire. Finally a little cold water is added. The curd is then taken out of the vessel and placed into wooden bowls to run the whey off. The whey remaining in the vessel is poured in a wooden bucket and stored. The curd is kneaded with caraway seed and anis and shaped on a wooden board into conical lumps big as a fist.

    Abstract: Männer schneiden mit Sensen Korn, Frauen binden mit Hilfe von kleinen dreizinkigen Holzharken und Strohbändern die Garben. Wettkampf um die letzte Garbe. Herrichten des Fock, der dem Hofbesitzer unter Aufsagen eines Gedichtes überreicht wird. Festliches Einfahren des letzten Fuders mit der Erntekrone und anschließendes Erntefest (Fockbier) der Beteiligten im Hofe des Bauern.
    Abstract: Before harvesting the crop is examined whether it is mature. On the harvest-day men and women go out to the field for reaping. After work they make the so-called Fock, a forked stick decorated with ears and flowers. The Fock and the harvest-wreath are presented to the farmer. Harvesting is closed by a festival in the farm-house.
