    Abstract: Ein Pferd wird zum Hufschmied Anker Ruud, Kristiansand südlich von Trondheim, gebracht. Es ist das letzte Pferd, das er beschlägt. Arbeitsphasen: Abreißen der alten Hufeisen, Beschneiden der Hufe; Schmieden der neuen Hufeisen: Strecken und Biegen des Eisens, Einschlagen der Vertiefungen für die Hufnagelköpfe, Durchschlagen der Nagellöcher, Anschweißen eines Griffs; Beschlagen des Pferdes: Befestigen des Eisens mit 8 Hufnägeln.
    Abstract: At Kristiansand south of Trondheim a horse is led to a farrier. The farrier unshoes the horse and pares the hooves. The film then shows the different operations of forging horseshoes: streching and bending the iron, hammering the cavities to receive the heads of the horseshoe-nails, striking holes for the nails, welding a handle. Finally, the horseshoe is nailed to the foot of the horse with eight horseshoe-nails.

    Abstract: Im Hügelgebiet des inneren Sörlandes wird von einer Bauernfamilie auf einer Unterlage aus Birkenzweigen Heu um einen Mittelpfosten herum bündelweise aufgeschichtet. Der Heuschober wird mit einem Windschutz aus Birkenzweigen abgedeckt.
    Abstract: In the hill-country of interior Sörland a haystack is built at a height of about 600 metres by a farmer's family. Hay-bundles are heaped up on a foundation of birch twigs around a pillar, alternately with shrubby birch twigs to improve the ventilation. These twigs are fixed by pairs to the pillar and help to hold the haystack together. The stack is carefully shaped and beaten into form and then fastened at the top with a ring of birch twigs. Finally a windbreak is made from long straight birch branches which are tied together at the upper end and put all-round the stack.

Der Teig wird zu großen dünnen Fladen ausgerollt und auf einer runden Backplatte gebacken. Die Fladenbrote sind der Vorrat für die nächsten Monate.
    Abstract: In Ål in the Hallingdal a farmer's wife bakes flatbrød in spring. The dough is prepared from barley, a little wheat and rye, grated cooked potatoes, full milk and water and rolled out into large thin flat cakes. These are baked on a round baking tray. They are the supply for the next few months.

    Abstract: Kiefernwurzeln werden gebrochen, zerkleinert und zum Trocknen ausgebreitet. Der trichterförmige Meilerboden wird mit Birkenrinden bedeckt und Schicht für Schicht mit Kienwurzeln, die rings um den Nabelstock aufgeschichtet werden, halbkugelförmig belegt sowie mit Torf zugedeckt. Dann folgen das Zünden des Meilers, das Regulieren von Wärme und Zug, Prüfen der Qualität des Teers sowie das Füllen der Teerfässer.
    Abstract: The film shows the manufacture of tar in Nordmøre, Norway, in 1966 as the last tar pile there was fired. Tar distillation in piles has been tradition in Nordmøre since prehistoric times, and this particular firing proceeded as usual, with no special arrangements for filming. We are shown how the pine-roots, the raw material for the tar, are broken, crushed, and spread out to dry. The film continues with the technicalities of setting up the pile, and shows how the wood is laid in thick, circular layers and covered with peat. The firing of the pile then follows, with regulation of heat and draught by the men to ensure that the pile burns properly to give the best possible tar. The final portion of the film covers quality testing of the tar and filling of the tar-barrels. We see all work at the pile and control of the pile until this is completely burned down and the last of the tar is won from the wood.

    Abstract: A West Norwegian sumpter-horse, a Fjording, is saddled and loaded. Driver and horse pass over the fjord in a rowing-boat and climb the steep slope of the fjord up to a diary hut. The film shows the loading with firewood and the transportation of barrels, then the way back to the fjord.

    Abstract: The film shows the handicraft of herring-keg manufacture. The cooper, bökkeren, m., has ready-cut material of pine-wood for staver, pl. (staves), and botnar, pl. (bottoms), and tönneband, pl. (hoops) of hazel (Corylus avellane) or of willow (Salicaccae). He works the material with special tools, bökkerverkty, pl. (cooper's tools). All stages of the cooper's work are shown, right up to the finished keg.
