    Abstract: Die Teilnehmer des alle vier Jahre durchgeführten Mittwinterbrauches sammeln sich am 5. Januar in Badgastein zum Umzug. Der Perchtenzug hält vor den Häusern, die Perchten begrüßen die Bewohner durch einen Tanz und erweisen ihnen die Ehre durch eine Verneigung. Nach Segenswünschen des Perchtenhauptmannes zieht die Gruppe weiter. Am Umzug beteiligen sich außer der "schönen" Perchten auch Schreckgestalten, wie der maskierte und pelzbekleidete Klaubauf, aber auch sonstige Brauchsfiguren wie Bärenführer, Hanswurst, Habergeiß, Händler, Schleifersmann, Zapfmandel und andere. An zwei Tagen werden die Häuser der Ortschaften in der Gastein besucht. Am 6. Januar wird das Perchtenlaufen in Bad Hofgastein beendet.
    Abstract: The participants of this midwinter custom, which is carried out every four years, gather in Bad Gastein for the parade on 5 January. The Perchtenlauf procession stops in front of the houses, the Perchten greet the inhabitants with a dance and honour them by bowing. After the Perchten leader has given his good wishes, the group moves on. Other than the "beautiful" Perchten, dreadful figures, such as the "Klaubauf", who is masked and dressed in fur, but also other traditional figures such as the bear leader, "Hanswurst", "Habergeis", the trader, "Schleifersmann", barman, and others also participate in the procession. The houses of the towns in Gastein are visited for two days. The Perchenlauf activities ends in Bad Hofgastein on 6 January.

    Abstract: Der Hütereinzug ist ein Fest der Perchtoldsdorfer Weinhüter und findet alljährlich am Sonntag nach dem 6. November (Leonhard) statt. Bereits am Vorabend treffen sich die Hüter beim Herbergsvater zum Gstanzlsingen. Am Sonntagmorgen ziehen sie gemeinsam mit der Hiatapritschn zum Erntedankfest in die Pfarrkirche. Anschließend führt der Zug zum Pfarrhof, danach zum nahegelegenen Alten Rathaus, wo das öffentliche Gstanzlsingen in Form eines Rügegerichts stattfindet. Dann marschiert der Zug zum Hütevater, wo ein festliches Mittagessen mit geladenen Gästen stattfindet.
    Abstract: The "Hütereinzug" is a festival of the Perchtoldsdorf Weinhüter and is celebrated every year on the first Sunday after November 6th. All the "Weinhüter" meet on the evening before the festival at the "Herberg-father's" home to sing "Gstanzl". On Sunday morning they walk together to the parish church. A young farmer carries the "Hiatapritschn". After the harvest-festival service they continue to the parsonage and then to the nearby old Town Hall where the public "Gstanzlsingen" takes place as an inferior court of justice. Finally they walk to their "Hüter-father" where a festive meal is celebrated with other invited guests.

    Abstract: Der Kalser Bildhauer Thomas Rogl schnitzt und faßt im Auftrag für das Filmteam einen "Krapfenschnapper", wie ihn Kinder am Allerheiligentag zum "Krapfenschnappern" verwenden. Es entsteht der Kopf eines Donald Duck, dessen beweglicher Unterschnabel mit einer Schnur gegen den oberen Teil geschlagen werden kann, was ein "schnapperndes" Geräusch hervorruft. Der Schnitzer kommentiert den Film selbst. (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3047).
    Abstract: The sculptor Thomas Rogl demonstrates for a film the manufacture of a "Krapfenschnapper", how it will be used by children during afternoon and evening a day before the "All-Souls Day". A "Krapfenschnapper" consists of a wooden head of an animal or a man, attached on a stick. The moveable lower jaw can be pulled with a string and beats on the upper part of the head which produces a ratting noise of a special frequence. A separate movie was produced concerning the custom of "Krapfenschnappern". This film shows the development of the work of the sculptor from the raw wooden block to the finished product of a "Krapfenschnapper". The work for one "Krapfenschnapper" is normally done in one day. This film presents it in a short snatched up form.

    Abstract: Anfertigung von einfachem Kinderspielzeug, das im Frühling von viehhütenden Kindern zum Zeitvertreib hergestellt wird. Alle Schritte der Erzeugung und des Gebrauchs von Maipfeiferl, Rindenoboe und Hollerbüchse vom Aussuchen des geeigneten Zweiges bis zum Versuch, dem Instrument einen Ton zu entlocken. Ein Beispiel für nichtmusikalisch verwendetes Spielzeug: das Zusammenbinden eines "Zitterwagens".
    Abstract: This film shows how simple toys and musical instruments were once made by children tending cattle in springtime. Every step of the preparation and use of the "Maipfeiferl" (= may whistle), "Rindenoboe" (= willow-bark oboe), "Hollerbüchse" (= elder air-pistol) is demonstrated - from the selection of suitable tree boughs to the attempts to elicit a tone (or noise) from the musical instrument. An example of the building of a non-instrumental toy, the "Zitterwagerl" (= vibrating wagon), is also shown. In the course of the film the demonstrator Julius Sorger explains why now one can no longer observe children building those toys.

    Abstract: Dokumentiert wird die traditionelle, manuelle Ausarbeitung eines Werkstückes. Nach den Schablonen des Wiederaufbaus nach 1945 (Burgtheater) wird die Herstellung eines Gesimsstückes mit Wiederkehr aus Mannersdorfer Leithakalk, der im 19. Jahrhundert für die Bauten der Wiener Ringstraße überragende Bedeutung erlangt hat, nachvollzogen. Gleichzeitig bietet der Film ein Porträt des Steinmetzmeisters Friedrich Opferkuh, der aus seiner langen Berufserfahrung in seinem Heimatort Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge eine international beachtete, umfangreiche Sammlung von historischem Werkzeug, Materialien, Bearbeitungsspuren und damit zusammenhängenden Technologien aufgebaut hat. On the other hand the movie draws a portrait of the master mason Friedrich Opferkuh who out of his long professional experience has built up an internationally recognized, extensive collection of historic tools, workmanship's traces, material and technologies in his home village Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge.
    Abstract: The traditional craftmanlike finishing of dressed stone is documented. Out of a special regional limestone (Mannersdorfer Leithakalk) which was widely used for the buildings of Vienna's Ringstrasse (the most magnificent street in 19th century Vienna), a cornice stone's remake after stencels of the post World War II rebuilding program is demonstrated.

    Abstract: Am Nachmittag und Abend des Allerheiligentages laufen in Kals am Großglockner die Kinder von Haus zu Haus und sammeln Krapfen, Süßigkeiten oder Geld. Sie kündigen sich mit dem Geklapper, eigentlich Schnappern, ihrer "Krapfenschnapper" an und verabschieden sich mit einem "Vergelt's Gott für die Armen Seelen". (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3046).
    Abstract: The movie was filmed on All-Saints Day at Kals on the foot of the Großglockner-mountain in Austria (Eastern Tyrol). It shows the procession and the visit at the graveyard where people pray. Afterwards small children and school children do "Krapfenschnappern" during afternoon and evening. This souling custom, in connection with religious ideas, is used "to help the poor souls".

    Abstract: This film shows how simple toys and musical instruments were once made by children tending cattle in springtime. Every step of the preparation and use of the "Maipfeiferl" (= may whistle), "Rindenoboe" (= willow-bark oboe), "Hollerbüchse" (= elder air-pistol) is demonstrated - from the selection of suitable tree boughs to the attempts to elicit a tone (or noise) from the musical instrument. An example of the building of a non-instrumental toy, the "Zitterwagerl" (= vibrating wagon), is also shown. In the course of the film the demonstrator Julius Sorger explains why now one can no longer observe children building those toys.

Sie kündigen sich mit dem Geklapper, eigentlich Schnappern, ihrer "Krapfenschnapper" an und verabschieden sich mit einem "Vergelt's Gott für die Armen Seelen". (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3046).
    Abstract: The movie was filmed on All-Saints Day at Kals on the foot of the Großglockner-mountain in Austria (Eastern Tyrol). It shows the procession and the visit at the graveyard where people pray. Afterwards small children and school children do "Krapfenschnappern" during afternoon and evening. This souling custom, in connection with religious ideas, is used "to help the poor souls".

    Abstract: Dokumentiert wird die traditionelle, manuelle Ausarbeitung eines Werkstückes. Nach den Schablonen des Wiederaufbaus nach 1945 (Burgtheater) wird die Herstellung eines Gesimsstückes mit Wiederkehr aus Mannersdorfer Leithakalk, der im 19. Jahrhundert für die Bauten der Wiener Ringstraße überragende Bedeutung erlangt hat, nachvollzogen. Gleichzeitig bietet der Film ein Porträt des Steinmetzmeisters Friedrich Opferkuh, der aus seiner langen Berufserfahrung in seinem Heimatort Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge eine international beachtete, umfangreiche Sammlung von historischem Werkzeug, Materialien, Bearbeitungsspuren und damit zusammenhängenden Technologien aufgebaut hat. On the other hand the movie draws a portrait of the master mason Friedrich Opferkuh who out of his long professional experience has built up an internationally recognized, extensive collection of historic tools, workmanship's traces, material and technologies in his home village Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge.
    Abstract: The traditional craftmanlike finishing of dressed stone is documented. Out of a special regional limestone (Mannersdorfer Leithakalk) which was widely used for the buildings of Vienna's Ringstrasse (the most magnificent street in 19th century Vienna), a cornice stone's remake after stencels of the post World War II rebuilding program is demonstrated.

    Abstract: Der Kalser Bildhauer Thomas Rogl schnitzt und faßt im Auftrag für das Filmteam einen "Krapfenschnapper", wie ihn Kinder am Allerheiligentag zum "Krapfenschnappern" verwenden. Es entsteht der Kopf eines Donald Duck, dessen beweglicher Unterschnabel mit einer Schnur gegen den oberen Teil geschlagen werden kann, was ein "schnapperndes" Geräusch hervorruft. Der Schnitzer kommentiert den Film selbst. (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3047).
    Abstract: The sculptor Thomas Rogl demonstrates for a film the manufacture of a "Krapfenschnapper", how it will be used by children during afternoon and evening a day before the "All-Souls Day". A "Krapfenschnapper" consists of a wooden head of an animal or a man, attached on a stick. The moveable lower jaw can be pulled with a string and beats on the upper part of the head which produces a ratting noise of a special frequence. A separate movie was produced concerning the custom of "Krapfenschnappern". This film shows the development of the work of the sculptor from the raw wooden block to the finished product of a "Krapfenschnapper". The work for one "Krapfenschnapper" is normally done in one day. This film presents it in a short snatched up form.

    Abstract: Anhand von historischen Stuckmarmorarbeiten in der Kartause Mauerbach in Niederösterreich werden verschiedene Aufgaben bei der Erhaltung und Restaurierung von Stuckmarmor gezeigt. Der Stukkateur, Alois Jarosch, führt die einzelnen Arbeitsvorgänge wie Reinigen, Entfernen von Anstrichen, Ergänzung von Fehlstellen, die Hinterfüllung und letztlich die Neuherstellung vor allem mit seinen Händen und speziellen Werkzeugen vor. The stuccoist demonstrates the different phases like cleaning, removal of later layers of paint, addition of missing parts, refil of cavities under the surface and at least the remake of stucco marble with much detail given to the handwork and the tools in the various phases and stages of production.
    Abstract: The different tasks and problems rising when conserving and restoring stucco marble are shown by the example of recent restorations of stucco marble decorations in the historic carthusian monastery of Mauerbach. Since all measures concerning conservation and restauration are based upon the knowledge of how this craft was accomplished there is ample space dedicated to this topic.

    Abstract: The cutting of the stone is executed according to the pre-industrial historical technique in a quarry in the Leithagebirge (topographical indication). After his personal remembrances master-mason Friedrich Opferkuh demonstrates single steps of work as for instance the cutting of the stone by help of an iron pole and the treatment of the raw piece of stone.

    Abstract: In 1985 the Museum of Rafts at Weyer celebrates its tenth anniversary. On this occasion an Enns raft is built by the traditional method from pine trunks. Former raftsmen and woodcutters show for the last time their ability. The film presents all the stages of the work, from the woodcutting, disbranching, and decorating over the wood haulage to the fastening together of the trunks.

Vornehmlich männliche Teilnehmer, als alte, häßliche, zerlumpte Weiber verkleidet, ziehen, von Herolden, Prinzenpaar, Pritschenmeistern und Blasmusikkapelle begleitet, am Nachmittag des Faschingsmontages durch den Ort. Anschließend an den Umzug lassen die "Fetzen" ihrer Ausgelassenheit in den Straßen, den Wirtshäusern und beim Ball im Rathaus freien Lauf.

    Abstract: In a family-owned workshop the chamois-dressing with blubber of 150-160 deer-; chamois- and roe-skins is done for work into leather-dresses. Traditional tools (scraping-wood, scraping-knife) are still in use. Tub, fulling-mill and a wringing-machine are run by waterpower. Just partly there are used more modern equipments (stretching-machine, pumice-machine) as well as electricity.

    Abstract: In der Marktgemeinde Schwarzenberg wie auch in anderen Pfarren des Bregenzerwaldes ist es Brauch, daß zu bestimmten Anlässen als Zeichen der Trauer und des Totengedenkens von jeweils einer Frau einer Großfamilie zur allgemein üblichen Sonntags- und Feiertagstracht die "Leidstucha" und der "Leidmantel" getragen werden. Der Film zeigt die Einbindung dieser besonderen Trauertracht in die brauchmäßige Begehung des ortsüblichen Totengedächtnisses an den Familien-"Jahrtagen" oder "-Jahrzeiten", wobei der zeitliche Handlungsablauf und der soziale Kontext desselben im Vordergrund des Interesses stehen.
    Abstract: In the market-town of Schwarzenberg, as in other parishes of the Bregenzerwald, it is still the custom that on certain occasions and as a sign of mourning and remembrance of the dead, a woman from each family will wear, in addition to the usual costume for Sundays, a "mourning head-scarf" and "mourning-cape". The film stresses how this special outfit is used during the course of these remembrances on so-called "Family Anniversaries", and its social context.

    Abstract: Ein 5,67 m langer Schwarzföhrenstamm wird von Zimmerleuten teils mit althergebrachten Geräten (Zimmermannsschnur, Breitbeil, Handhobel, Reifmesser, Bohrer), teils mit modernen Maschinen (Motorsäge, Handhobelmaschine) und teils mit improvisierten Behelfen (Stangenzirkel) als Wellbaum zugerichtet. Nachdem der schmiedeeiserne Anker eingesetzt worden ist und hierauf die Spannringe aufgezogen worden sind, wird dieser Grindlbaum in die Sägemühle beim Waldbauernmuseum in Gutenstein eingebaut. Siehe auch Film E 2755 des ÖWF "Herstellen eines hölzernen Wasserrades".
    Abstract: A 5,67 m long trunk of a black pine is processed into an axle-tree by traditional tools ( carpenter's twine, broad hatchet, plane, drawknife, auger), simple machinery (power-saw, hand-planer) and improvised tools (beam compasses). After the wrought-iron tie is fitted in place the hoops are tilted on. Then the axle-tree is fitted into saw-mill of the Waldbauern-Museum in Gutenstein.     Abstract: This film shows the work of the dyer Josef Koó from Burgenland who uses a centuries-old resist technique to print patterns on material. A resist paste is applied to the material, which is dyed in an indigo vat and then dried. The reserve is removed, and after another drying it is smoothed and shined with a mangle. It is then sold in the market.

    Abstract: A 5,67 m long trunk of a black pine is processed into an axle-tree by traditional tools ( carpenter's twine, broad hatchet, plane, drawknife, auger), simple machinery (power-saw, hand-planer) and improvised tools (beam compasses). After the wrought-iron tie is fitted in place the hoops are tilted on. Then the axle-tree is fitted into saw-mill of the Waldbauern-Museum in Gutenstein. Im Osttiroler Bergdorf Kals am Großglockner waren solche Hüte bis vor wenigen Jahrzehnten Teil der weiblichen Alltags- und Arbeitskleidung.
    Abstract: The film shows the 78 years old Theresia Hanser making a straw-hat typically for Kals. Basic material are plaits made of 4, 6 and 8 rye-straws. In the Eastern Tyrolian mountain-village Kals am Großglockner such hats have been part of the female dress worn on working days a few decades ago.

    Abstract: In einem verschneiten Wald werden Holztransportschlitten von Hunden bergauf gezogen und dort mit Meterscheiten quer zur Fahrtrichtung beladen. Bei der Talfahrt laufen die Hunde frei hinter den von Holzarbeitern gelenkten Schlitten her. Auf ebener Strecke ziehen Mann und Hund gemeinsam.
    Abstract: In a snowed-up forest of the Mühlviertel sledges for the transport of wood are being pulled uphill by dogs. Having arrived at the working place, the sledges are loaded with timber. On their way back at the steep slopes the dogs are running at large behind the quickly gliding sledges, driven by the woodworkes. On an even path the sledge is drawn by both, man and dog.

Das Modellieren der Klaubaufköpfe aus Fensterkitt, die als Vorbilder für die Schnitzarbeiten dienen, findet in der Wohnküche statt. Die Schnitzarbeiten, das Bemalen, die Auspolsterung und Fertigstellung werden in der Werkstatt durchgeführt.

    Abstract: Maskierte Klaubaufgestalten ziehen von Haus zu Haus. Sie folgen dem Nikolaus, der die Kinder beschenkt. Auch eine Musikkapelle zieht mit, die in den Häusern aufspielt. Lotter und Lütterin sammeln Geld und tanzen. Auf der Straße führen sich die Klaubaufs wild auf. In den Häusern werden sie vom Nikolaus gelenkt und zurückgehalten. Brauchträger war die Turn- und Sportunion.
    Abstract: Masked "Klaubaufs" go from door to door, preceded by Santa Claus who distributes presents among the children. They are accompanied by a band playing in the houses. In the street the "Klaubaufs" behave violently, in the houses they are directed by Santa Claus who restrains them.

    Abstract: Der Nikolaus besucht die Häuser und hält eine Ansprache. Sein Begleiter verteilt Nüsse. Auch andere verkleidete Gestalten, wie Lotter und Lütterin, Wunderarzt mit Begleiter, Kettenteufel, treten auf. Die mit Holzlarven maskierten Klaubaufgestalten versuchen, den in der Ecke der Stube stehenden Tisch zu entfernen und attackieren die Anwesenden.
    Abstract: Santa Claus enters the houses and makes a speech. His attendant distributes nuts. Other disguised persons appear: "Lotter" and "Lütterin", quack doctor and attendant. The "Klaubaufs", disguised with wooden masks, try to remove the table in the corner of the room and attack the persons present.

    Abstract: Im Schloß Scharnstein im Almtal führen Mitglieder der Rud aus Lambach, junge und alte Einheimische, den Landler und die anschließende Bairisch-Polka auf. Es werden vierzeilige Jodler und Lieder gesungen. Die Begleitmusik besorgt ein Lambacher Spieler auf der diatonischen Ziehharmonika, dem sich drei Spieler aus Wels mit zwei Geigen und einem Kontrabaß hinzugesellt haben.
    Abstract: The film presents an Upper Austrian Landler from Lambach im Traunviertel as it is performed in unbroken tradition this very day (1970) by a group of interested natives, young as well as old ones. According to regional custom the Landler is followed by a Boarischer, that is a Bavarian Polka. The music played in accompaniment is performed by a native musician on the diatonic accordion; he has been joined by three more musicians from the neighbouring Wels, playing two violins and a double bass.

    Abstract: Eine alte Frau bäckt ein traditionelles Festgebäck (Baumkuchen) aus Zucker, Zitronenschale, Mehl. Den dünnflüssigen Teig gießt sie schichtenweise auf eine hölzerne Rolle, die auf einem Gestell vor dem Feuer gedreht wird. Das Gebäck entsteht aus vier Schichten und wird mit weißem und rosa Zuckerguß verziert.
    Abstract: With the aid of her husband an old woman makes a Prügelkrapfen, a traditional festival pastry. From sugar, lemon peel, eggs and flour she makes a thinly liquid dough and pours it in layers upon the Prügel (cudgel), a wooden roll covered with paper, mounted in a frame and turned round on its axis in front of the fire by operating a handle. The Prügelkrapfen consists of four layers and is made in three hours. Finally it is decorated with white and pink sugar-icing and removed from the cudgel.

    Abstract: With the aid of her husband an old woman makes a Prügelkrapfen, a traditional festival pastry. From sugar, lemon peel, eggs and flour she makes a thinly liquid dough and pours it in layers upon the Prügel (cudgel), a wooden roll covered with paper, mounted in a frame and turned round on its axis in front of the fire by operating a handle. The Prügelkrapfen consists of four layers and is made in three hours. Finally it is decorated with white and pink sugar-icing and removed from the cudgel.

    Abstract: Im Schloß Scharnstein im Almtal führen Mitglieder der Rud aus Lambach, junge und alte Einheimische, den Landler und die anschließende Bairisch-Polka auf. Es werden vierzeilige Jodler und Lieder gesungen. Die Begleitmusik besorgt ein Lambacher Spieler auf der diatonischen Ziehharmonika, dem sich drei Spieler aus Wels mit zwei Geigen und einem Kontrabaß hinzugesellt haben.
    Abstract: The film presents an Upper Austrian Landler from Lambach im Traunviertel as it is performed in unbroken tradition this very day (1970) by a group of interested natives, young as well as old ones. According to regional custom the Landler is followed by a Boarischer, that is a Bavarian Polka. The music played in accompaniment is performed by a native musician on the diatonic accordion; he has been joined by three more musicians from the neighbouring Wels, playing two violins and a double bass.

Es folgt der endgültige Ausguß der Kerzen wiederum am Wachsrad.
    Abstract: A Lower Austrian wax-chandler makes church candles by the pouring method: He suspends wicks on the wax-wheel and pours heated, liquid wax over them. After the preliminary pouring the so-called tapers are removed from the wheel, straightened on the table by means of the rolling-board and cut and shaped with the carving-board. The candles are then finished by the pouring method on the wax-wheel.

Sampermilch (Semmel mit warmer Milch) wird aufgetischt (Rest für Schweine und Hühner).
    Abstract: The film shows three customs practised on the farms of the thinly settled Lower Alps area of Austria on the evening before the Feast of the Three Wise Men. Between the work (feeding, milking) and the evening meal, the animals are given a so-called Maulgab (Mouth Offering) with churchlike sacraments which is meant to work as a prophylactic against ghosts. Later the house is blessed with consecrated incense. And lastly so-called Sampermilch for a Berchte figure which is supposed to appear as a ghost in the night, is prepared and set out. A few spoonsful of this is eaten and the remainder fed to the pigs and poultry the next morning.

    Abstract: Aus etwa 25 kg Weizen- (1/4) und Roggenmehl (3/4), Salz, Wasser, Sauerteig und Hefe bereitet eine Bäuerin in der Küche ihres Hauses einen Brotteig (Kreuzzeichen mit drei Querbalken). Dann formt sie Brotlaibe, die in runde Strohkörbe gelegt werden. Das Backen erfolgt in dem in der Küche befindlichen Backofen (Besprengen mit Weihwasser), der mit Tannen- und Fichtenholz beheizt wird. Die Brotlaibe werden in einer Truhe auf dem Dachboden aufbewahrt.
    Abstract: The film shows the baking of bread in a farmhouse in Grottendorf, the community of Freistritz, Lower-Austria. Almost all the work connected with the baking including the fetching of wood and heating of the oven is done entirely by the farmer's wife. The work takes two days. With this baking of bread, there are connected religious customs. Most particularly to be mentioned are: in the leaven and in the mixed dough, the farmer's wife draws a cross with three crossbars (similar to that used by the Pope), before putting the bread into the oven she sprinkles holy water around the oven; before cutting the first loaf, she draws three crosses on the underside of the bread with her thumb.

    Abstract: Auf einer Hochalm im Pinzgau wird süße Kuh- und Ziegenmilch im Kessel erhitzt und mit Lab versetzt. Nach Dicklegung wird die Masse gebrochen und verrührt, mit einem Sieb herausgeschöpft und in einem Holzreifen zu einem Käselaib gepreßt. Im Käsekeller wird der Käse mit Salz eingerieben und während des Reifens, das von innen nach außen erfolgt, mehrmals mit Molke oder Wasser gewaschen und gewendet.
    Abstract: On a high alpine pasture in the Pinzgau sweet and new cow's and goat's milk is heated in a vessel and rennet is added. The coagulated mass is then broken into pieces and stirred, taken out with a sieve, placed into a wooden hoop and pressed into the shape of a wheel. In the curing cave the "Pinzgauer cheese" is salted and in the course of the ripening process, which proceeds from the inside to the outside, repeatedly bathed in whey or water and turned.

    Abstract: The film shows the making of a folding knife without spring by a Burgenland knife-maker. The man forges the iron in the fire and on the anvil to the desired shape, hardens and grinds the blade, turns the wooden handle and fixes the blade to it.
