Abstract:
Anfertigung von einfachem Kinderspielzeug, das im Frühling von viehhütenden Kindern zum Zeitvertreib hergestellt wird. Alle Schritte der Erzeugung und des Gebrauchs von Maipfeiferl, Rindenoboe und Hollerbüchse vom Aussuchen des geeigneten Zweiges bis zum Versuch, dem Instrument einen Ton zu entlocken. Ein Beispiel für nichtmusikalisch verwendetes Spielzeug: das Zusammenbinden eines "Zitterwagens".
Abstract:
This film shows how simple toys and musical instruments were once made by children tending cattle in springtime. Every step of the preparation and use of the "Maipfeiferl" (= may whistle), "Rindenoboe" (= willow-bark oboe), "Hollerbüchse" (= elder air-pistol) is demonstrated - from the selection of suitable tree boughs to the attempts to elicit a tone (or noise) from the musical instrument. An example of the building of a non-instrumental toy, the "Zitterwagerl" (= vibrating wagon), is also shown. In the course of the film the demonstrator Julius Sorger explains why now one can no longer observe children building those toys.
