Abstract:
Eine alte Frau bäckt ein traditionelles Festgebäck (Baumkuchen) aus Zucker, Zitronenschale, Mehl. Den dünnflüssigen Teig gießt sie schichtenweise auf eine hölzerne Rolle, die auf einem Gestell vor dem Feuer gedreht wird. Das Gebäck entsteht aus vier Schichten und wird mit weißem und rosa Zuckerguß verziert.
Abstract:
With the aid of her husband an old woman makes a Prügelkrapfen, a traditional festival pastry. From sugar, lemon peel, eggs and flour she makes a thinly liquid dough and pours it in layers upon the Prügel (cudgel), a wooden roll covered with paper, mounted in a frame and turned round on its axis in front of the fire by operating a handle. The Prügelkrapfen consists of four layers and is made in three hours. Finally it is decorated with white and pink sugar-icing and removed from the cudgel.
