    Abstract: Between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, more than fifteen million people were uprooted from West Africa and enslaved in the Trans-Saharan and Transatlantic slave systems The state of Gajaage, located on the West African hinterland, offered a doorway to the Atlantic Ocean and played a central role in the wide-scale trade system that connected the histories of Africa, the Americas, and Europe. Focussing on the Soninke of Gajaaga, Makhroufi Ousmane Traoré demonstrates how their resistance to the slave trades led to the formation of a united community bound by an awareness of identity. This original study expands our understanding of the various modes of resistance West Africans employed to stem the encroaching tide of Arab imperializing efforts, European mercantile capitalism, and the Atlantic slave trade, whilst also highlighting how ethnic and religious identities were constructed and mobilized in the region.

    Abstract: It has become increasingly clear that economies can fruitfully be viewed as networks, consisting of millions of nodes (households, firms, banks, etc.) connected by business, social, and legal relationships. These relationships shape many outcomes that economists often measure. Over the past few years, research on production networks has flourished, as economists try to understand supply-side dynamics, default cascades, aggregate fluctuations, and many other phenomena. Economic Networks provides a brisk introduction to network analysis that is self-contained, rigorous, and illustrated with many figures, diagrams and listings with computer code. Network methods are put to work analyzing production networks, financial networks, and other related topics (including optimal transport, another highly active research field). Visualizations using recent data bring key ideas to life.

Der Autor Benjamin Hanke ist Referent für Kulturentwicklung im Ministerium für Allgemeine und Berufliche Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur des Landes Schleswig-Holstein.     Abstract: Understanding human behaviour, thoughts, and emotional expressions can be challenging in the global context. Due to cultural differences, the study of psychology cannot be de-contextualised. This calls for unearthing of the explanatory systems that exist in Africa to understand and account for behaviour, emotions, and cognition of Africans. This call is addressed through the emergence of African Psychology (AP) or Indigenous Psychology in Africa (IPA) as a legitimate science of human experience. This Element discusses the motivations for AP, centrality of culture, demarcations of AP, and the different strands within AP. It highlights issues related to African philosophy, African cultural anthropology, African philosophy of science, and suitable methodological approaches for AP research. It also discusses some selected theoretical contributions and applications of AP. The Element concludes that AP researchers and practitioners need to pursue interdisciplinarity and avoid meaningless rejection of good ideas from other cultural settings.

    Abstract: This Element explores the sentiment and keyword features in both authorship profiling and authorship attribution in social media texts in the Chinese cultural context. The key findings can be summarised as follows: firstly, sentiment scores and keyword features are distinctive in delineating authors' gender and age. Specifically, female and younger authors tend to be less optimistic and use more personal pronouns and graduations than male and older authors, respectively. Secondly, these distinctive profiling features are also distinctive and significant in authorship attribution. Thirdly, our mindset, shaped by our inherent hormonal influences and external social experiences, plays a critical role in authorship. Theoretically, the findings expand authorship features into underexplored domains and substantiate the theory of mindset. Practically, the findings offer some broad quantitative benchmarks for authorship profiling cases in the Chinese cultural context, and perhaps other contexts where authorship profiling analyses have been used.     Abstract: Is a new spirit of capitalism emerging as a result of neoliberal adjustments in the global economy? The internationalization of management and its comprehensive neoliberals imprint fall short of the assumptions represented by globalization theory. Empirical data on the life trajectories and action orientations of CEOs from leading industrial companies in nine countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America indicate that local institutional frameworks, diverse regional challenges, and historically embedded cultural influences exert more significant influence than global trends. Different strategies and structures have been identified based on problem-centered interviews with top executives, and they are made accessible for the first time in English for comparative purposes.     Abstract: This book examines the changing significance of intra-European labor mobility in the 21st century. The focus is on the driving forces, the labor market effects and the regulation of this mobility. It is shown that there is a demand for workers with different qualifications in the "post-industrial" societies of Western Europe. This demand is primarily met by migration from the enlarged EU. However, this is no longer traditional labor migration, but the mobility of EU citizens. This brings with it new opportunities, but also challenges in a transnational mobility space, which is also a space of inequality. Torben Krings works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Economic and Organizational Sociology at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. Ob und in welchem Umfang sich Erwachsene und ihre Eltern gegenseitig unterstützen können, hängt stark von ihren jeweiligen ökonomischen Ressourcen ab. Auf gesellschaftlicher Ebene bedeutet lebenslange familiale Solidarität daher häufig lebenslange Ungleichheit von Unterstützungsstrukturen. Finanzielle Transfers zwischen Familiengenerationen reduzieren damit zwar Ungleichheiten innerhalb von Familien, tragen insgesamt aber zu einer Verschärfung der Ungleichheiten zwischen Familien bei. Die Autorin Tamara Bosshardt ist Postdoktorandin am Soziologischen Institut der Universität Zürich. Zu ihren Forschungsinteressen zählen intersektionale empirische Ungleichheitsanalysen, finanzielle Transfers zwischen Generationen, kritische Soziologie sowie soziale Beziehungen in unterschiedlichen Formen.

    Abstract: Aspirational talk has gained increasing research attention as a compelling concept theoretically explaining the potential of talk-action discrepancies in corporate responsibility communication to instigate organizational change. Under certain conditions, aspirational talk can facilitate discourse, agreement, reframing, and corporate reflexivity. However, perceived talk-action discrepancies can negatively affect organizational members, leading to disengagement, and demotivation, causing emotional exhaustion, exposing employees to vulnerabilities, and even catalyzing unethical or illicit behaviors. Thus, this book focuses on how aspirational talk becomes irresponsible in an organizational context, and how it can be avoided. The author proposes that aspirational talk becomes irresponsible if it creates expectations that lead to illegitimate harm to employees or involved stakeholders. A framework is derived, constituting the finding that it takes two types of investments into performativity and responsibility conditions, to avoid the irresponsible use of aspirational talk – and thus, to inspire responsibly. About the author Marie Schwimmer completed her doctoral study under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Suchanek at the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Chair of Economic and Business Ethics at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics.     Abstract: Scholars have long recognized that interpersonal networks play a role in mobilizing social movements. Yet, many questions remain. This Element addresses these questions by theorizing about three dimensions of ties: emotionally strong or weak, movement insider or outsider, and ingroup or cross-cleavage. The survey data on the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests show that weak and cross-cleavage ties among outsiders enabled the movement to evolve from a small provocation into a massive national mobilization. In particular, the authors find that Black people mobilized one another through social media and spurred their non-Black friends to protest by sharing their personal encounters with racism. These results depart from the established literature regarding the civil rights movement that emphasizes strong, movement-internal, and racially homogenous ties. The networks that mobilize appear to have changed in the social media era. This title is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.

    Abstract: This book explores the fragile process of city brand development thoughtfully. Backgrounds are explained, experiences recounted, and city branding inspired. The dream of every brand maker: develop a city into a strong brand – perhaps even a myth. Yet, myths' creation is a curiosity. When purposeful, are there specific success recipes, and can those responsible be identified? Can the process be replicated? How do brand makers navigate city and brand complexity practically? How do they offer success prospects to the arduous process of creating a city brand? How do they handle external criticism and self-doubts? City images emerge from complex and random processes. In global urban competition, this process is enriched with brand making achievements. Success isn't guaranteed, depending on discussed conditions. Lastly, rules for effective city branding are outlined. The Authors Eric Häusler is a historian with a keen interest in social science concepts. Currently, he is conducting a habilitation project on urbanization processes in Tokyo, New York, and Zurich in the 1960s. Extended research stays have taken him to Sophia University in Tokyo and presently to The New School and New York University in New York City. His most recent publication is his dissertation titled "Ökonomisches Scheitern. Solidarische Praktiken in Bern 1750-1900" (published by transcript Verlag). Jürgen Häusler is retired. At the beginning of his career, he engaged in social science research and later assumed leadership responsibilities for many years at a globally leading consulting firm specializing in brand development. Additionally, he taught at the University of Leipzig and published on the topic. Both authors share a passion for a multidisciplinary, theory-guided, and practice-oriented exploration of the phenomena of the city and city branding.     Abstract: Dieses Open-Access-Buch stellt vor dem Hintergrund einer zunehmenden sozialen Segregation in deutschen Städten die Frage nach den Auswirkungen dieser sich verschärfenden räumlichen Polarisierung auf die Sozialisation von Jugendlichen. Die Arbeit geht dabei über den quartiersfixierten Ansatz der Nachbarschaftseffektforschung hinaus und untersucht, welche Räume in der Stadt von Berliner Jugendlichen in ihrer Freizeit tatsächlich genutzt werden und damit für sie sozialisationsrelevant sind. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Einfluss, den einerseits individuelle Merkmale, wie Geschlecht und sozialer Status, und andererseits die Stadtstruktur auf das räumliche Freizeitverhalten der Jugendlichen haben. Zentral ist dabei die Frage, ob sich die soziale Segregation der Wohnquartier auch in den Aktivitätsräumen der Jugendlichen widerspiegelt. Um diese Frage zu beantworten, werden Daten mit einer eigens für diese Arbeit entwickelten innovativen räumlich-quantitativen Befragung erhoben, vor dem Hintergrund der physischen und sozialräumlichen Struktur Berlins ausgewertet und durch qualitative Leitfadeninterviews ergänzt. Der Autor Moritz Merten ist Stadt- und Jugendforscher. Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit sind die Nutzung und Aneignung urbaner Räume durch Jugendliche sowie Segregation, Diskriminierung und soziale Ungleichheit in der Stadt.

Anhand von Gruppendiskussionen mit Teams der stationären Jugendhilfe werden Anlässe rekonstruiert, die das Thema sexuelle Gewalt in der Praxis relevant werden lassen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Befund, dass Fachkräfte sich durch den Diskurs unter einen Generalverdacht gestellt fühlen. Dieser geht einher mit der Angst vor Repressalien gegen die eigene Person oder Kolleg*innen. In der Folge stehen die Fachkräfte vor einem professionellen Dilemma: Sie müssen den Schutz der eigenen Person gegen die Nähebedürfnisse der Kinder und Jugendlichen abwägen. Um dieser Herausforderung zu begegnen, haben die Fachkräfte diverse Bewältigungsstrategien entwickelt. Diese sind davon abhängig, (1) ob die pädagogischen Fachkräfte sich vorstellen können, dass eine*r ihrer Kolleg*innen sexuelle Gewalt verübt (Undenkbarkeit), (2) inwieweit sich die Fachkräfte aufgrund der konzeptionellen Ausrichtung für ein Nähebedürfnis der Kinder und Jugendlichen verantwortlich fühlen (familienanalog vs. nicht familienanalog) und (3) wie sich der organisationale Umgang mit der medialen Thematisierung darstellt.     Abstract: Focusing on the military men, railway workers, and wives and children of the British working-class who went to India after the Rebellion of 1857, Working-Class Raj explores the experiences of these working-class men and women in their own words. Drawing on a diverse collection of previously unused letters and diaries, it allows us to hear directly from these people for the first time. Working-class Brits in India enjoyed enormous privilege, reliant on native Indian labour and living, as one put it, like gentlemen. But within the hierarchies of the Army and the railyard they remained working class, a potentially disruptive population that needed to be contained. Working in India and other parts of the empire, emigrating to settler colonies, often returning to Britain, all the while attempting to maintain family ties across imperial distances-the British working class in the nineteenth century was a globalised population. This book reveals how working-class men and women were not atomised individuals, but part of communities that spanned the empire and were fundamentally shaped by it.     Abstract: The Element highlights the monopolization and exclusion from high-value knowledge in analysing divergent and, recently, partially convergent income trends across 200-odd years of the global capitalist economy. A Southern lens interrogates this history, in the process showing how developing command over knowledge creation sheds light on the middle-income trap. Overall, it shows a new way of looking at global capitalist economic history, highlighting the creation of, command over and exclusion from knowledge. This forces us to analyse the role of the subjective or agential element in making history; a subjective element that, however, always works from within and transforms existing structures and processes.     Abstract: Kultur- und sozialwissenschaftliches Wissen hat über die letzten 50 Jahre eine beständige Verbreitung erfahren und wurde zu einem festen Bestandteil gegenwärtiger Gesellschaften. Dies bezieht sich allerdings nicht nur auf die Ergebnisse der Disziplinen, sondern trifft im besonderen Maße auf deren grundlegende theoretische Konzepte zu. In verschiedensten gesellschaftlichen Bereichen repräsentiert dieses Wissen eine Ressource für die Akteur*innen, um Produktionsprozesse anzuleiten. Die Theorien liefern daher nicht nur Beschreibungen des Sozialen, sondern sie wirken „performativ“. Diese Open-Access-Publikation fokussiert auf den Bereich der Kulturproduktion und zeigt auf, welche Bedingungen zur Verwendung der theoretischen Konzepte außerhalb der Wissenschaft geführt haben, wie die Theorien in Prozessen zur Anwendung kommen und welche Veränderungen daraus folgen. Hierzu wird zuerst ein konzeptioneller sowie methodologischer Rahmen präsentiert, bevor die empirische Studie einer Kulturwelt detaillierte Einblicke in die Wirkungsweisen ermöglicht. Anhand der so verdeutlichten Aspekte der Performativität von kultur- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Theorien lässt sich schlussendlich aufzeigen, wie Kulturproduktion in gegenwärtigen Gesellschaften eine zentrale Stellung einnehmen konnte. Auch wenn in den letzten Jahren vereinzelt auch die Zentren Asiens, insbesondere China und Indien, zunehmend in den Fokus genommen werden, bleibt die Himalaya-Region, trotz ihrer steigenden Bedeutung für Geopolitik und Klimawandel, in dieser Hinsicht bisher gänzlich unerforscht und wird in Medien, Politik und Wissenschaft weiterhin als unzugängliche Grenzregion wahrgenommen. Der Autor Stefan Lüder hat seine Promotion am Institut für Asien- und Afrikawissenschaften der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin abgeschlossen und wurde dabei durch ein Promotionsstipendium der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes unterstützt. Seine Schwerpunkte sind die historische Legitimationsforschung und Verflechtungsgeschichte der Himalaya-Region zwischen dem 18. und 20. Jahrhundert.

    Abstract: The Islamic Welfare State explains the relationship between government legitimacy, everyday security, and lived Islam in Pakistan-a major Muslim-majority country.     Abstract: Over the past several years, the Thai popular culture landscape has radically transformed due to the emergence of Boys Love (BL) soap operas which celebrate the love between handsome young men. Boys Love Media in Thailand: Celebrity, Fans, and Transnational Asian Queer Popular Culture is the first book length study of this increasingly significant transnational pop culture phenomenon. Drawing upon six years of ethnographic research, the book reveals BL s impacts on depictions of same-sex desire in Thai media culture and the resultant mainstreaming of queer romance through new forms of celebrity and participatory fandom. The author explores how the rise of BL has transformed contemporary Thai consumer culture, leading to heterosexual female fans of male celebrities who perform homoeroticism becoming the main audience to whom Thai pop culture is geared. Through the case study of BL, this book thus also investigates how Thai media is responding to broader regional trends across Asia where the economic potentials of female and queer fans are becoming increasingly important. Baudinette ultimately argues that the center of queer cultural production in Asia has shifted from Japan to Thailand, investigating both the growing international fandom of Thailand s BL series as well as the influence of international investment into the development of these media. The book particularly focuses on specific case studies of the fandom for Thai BL celebrity couples in Thailand, China, the Philippines, and Japan to explore how BL series have transformed each of these national contexts queer consumer cultures

    Abstract: This open access book critically examines discussions on digitalisation and individual opportunities for socio-economic advancement. Contrary to the prevailing narratives of “digital empowerment” and opportunities for every individual, this book argues that digitalisation massively curtails social advancement opportunities, consolidating existing social relations. From a spatial perspective, Scheffer demonstrates how socially disadvantaged groups are faced with reproducing mechanisms as part of a new data economy. Surprisingly, the more intensively digital services are used, the more this happens. Building on Löw´s sociology of space and Bourdieu´s concept of habitus, this book shows how practices of social exclusion are transferred to the digital present in an innovative way. The image of “mirrored” spaces describes a new mechanism that explains social exclusion in the age of digitalization.     Abstract: The making of fashionable women's dress in Georgian England necessitated an inordinate amount of manual labour. From the mantuamakers and seamstresses who wrought lengths of silk and linen into garments, to the artists and engravers who disseminated and immortalised the resulting outfits in print and on paper, Georgian garments were the products of many busy hands. This Element centres the sartorial hand as a point of connection across the trades which generated fashionable dress in the eighteenth century. Crucially, it engages with recreation methodologies to explore how the agency and skill of the stitching hand can inform understandings of craft, industry, gender, and labour in the eighteenth century. The labour of stitching, along with printmaking, drawing, and painting, composed a comprehensive culture of making and manual labour which, together, constructed eighteenth-century cultures of fashionable dress.

    Abstract: This Element offers a new theoretical model of acculturation within the general framework of cultural psychology. It is divided into four sections. First, cross-cultural and cultural orientations are contrasted. The psychology of economic migration (EARN), separate from the psychology of acculturation (LEARN), is the theme of the next section. Berry's model of acculturation preferences is discussed in section three. It serves as a contrasting reference point for the tripartite model of bicultural competencies, developed in the final section. The three interconnected components are symbols, language, and values/practices characterize both enculturation and acculturation. As a second culture learning process, acculturation is not restricted to immigration. It may take a vicarious (remote) shape in the home country. Reaching bicultural competencies and identities, in the long run, is the proposed outcome of acculturation.

    Abstract: The capability approach is a versatile framework rooted on issues of justice and multidimensional assessment of quality of life developed in the 1980s as an alternative approach to prevailing mainstream development ideas focused narrowly on economic development. Most closely associated with the work of Amartya Sen, it has become of great interest to development scholars from a variety of different disciplines.     Abstract: Ancient Egypt offers rich sources of documentary evidence for the study of the experiences of dependent people, particularly enslaved persons, and how they changed over almost four millennia from the Old Kingdom to the early Islamic period. This volume, the work of a team of scholars spanning the full range of disciplines and languages involved, provides nearly three hundred primary sources in translation, arranged both chronologically and thematically, and is aimed principally at students, instructors and general readers. The documents reveal how people became slaves and ceased to be slaves and how they were traded and exchanged in different periods. They also detail the various kinds of work slaves undertook, whether in the household, in agriculture or in mines and quarries. Introductions explain and contextualise the sources, and particularly address the problems of varying terminology in several different languages. The book shows Egypt's place in the world history of slavery.

    Abstract: Geotourismus, lange als eine Form des Nischentourismus betrachtet, hat sich zu einer nachgefragten Form des Thementourismus entwickelt. Im letzten Jahrzehnt erwies sich Geotourismus sogar als das am schnellsten wachsende Tourismussegment. Geoparks sind die wesentlichen Träger des Geotourismus. Sie sind keine zusätzliche Naturschutzkategorie, sondern eine Prädikatisierung für Gebiete, die ein herausragendes Geopotential aufweisen sowie eine Strategie zur nachhaltigen Regionalentwicklung. Ihre spezifischen Geotope und Geolandschaften (Geodiversität) nutzen sie für ein geotouristisches Standortmarketing. Über Geobildung wird Interesse für geotouristische Angebote geweckt und ein Bewusstsein für den Geotopschutz aufgebaut, der nach wie vor ein Stiefkind des Naturschutzes ist. Bereits seit dem Jahr 2000 besteht das Netzwerk der European Geoparks. In Deutschland können zusätzlich Nationale GeoParks anerkannt werden. 2015 wurde mit den UNESCO Global Geoparks eine weitere Kategorie von UNESCO Stätten – neben den Welterbestätten und den Biosphärenreservaten – ins Leben gerufen. Als Modellregionen für nachhaltige Entwicklung sollen sie aufzeigen, wie Ziele der globalen Nachhaltigkeitsagenda 2030 auf kommunaler und regionaler Ebene umgesetzt werden können. Die Autorin Dr. Heidi Elisabeth Megerle ist Professorin für Angewandte Geographie und Planung an der Hochschule für Forstwirtschaft Rottenburg am Neckar. Seit Anfang der 2000er Jahre begleitet sie die nationale und internationale Geoparkbewegung sowie speziell den UNESCO Global Geopark Schwäbische Alb, mittlerweile als stellvertretende Vorsitzende des Beirats. In dieser Zeit publizierte sie zahlreiche Artikel zu Geotourismus, Geoparks, Geobildung und Geotopschutz.

    Abstract: Influence of “hard” law on national policies still is a central topic in Europeanisation research. One aspect often overlooked is the impact of “soft” law instruments such as the “Open Method of Coordination” (OMC). Through the OMC all member states agree on common goals and exchange “best practices” to improve policy coordination in a certain area without the obligation (how) to design policies. OMC impacts in individual member states have been studied extensively, yet a comparative perspective explaining their variance is lacking. This study by Niclas Beinborn tries to fill this gap by analysing the different impacts of a recent OMC: the European Youth Strategy 2010 (EUYS). His analysis is twofold: in a first step he applies theory-driven fuzzy-set QCA to a novel dataset depicting the variance of national activities around the EUYS. As causalities remain unclear, in a second step he presents an innovative analysis framework encompassing two dimensions – national motivation and relative openness to implement non-binding EU law – to define ideal types of OMC adaptation. Case studies on the EUYS in Germany and Ireland proof the potential of this framework to explain why and how OMCs work (differently). About the author Niclas Beinborn worked as a research associate at the German Research Institute for Public Administration in Speyer. There, he extensively studied child and youth policy in Germany and Europe. As of 2021, he works as a desk officer in the federal administration.

    Abstract: Lehren und Lernen, verstanden als komplexe Vermittlung und Verarbeitung von Inhalten, finden immer in räumlichen Kontexten statt, die hinderlich oder förderlich sein können.     Abstract: Dieser Band analysiert das Selbstverständnis politischer Berater bezüglich ihrer Rolle in politischen Beratungsprozessen sowie ihre Sicht auf die Maßstäbe für die Legitimität und Legalität unterschiedlicher Beratungsvorgänge im politischen Entscheidungsprozess in Deutschland und Polen im Vergleich. Zudem werden auch weitere Aspekte aus dem Bereich der Politikberatung und Lobbyismus, wie die zunehmende Rolle der Medien in Beratungsprozessen, die Unterschiede in der Struktur und Beratungsressourcen der Abgeordnetenbüros, die Wahrnehmung des sogenannten „Drehtür-Effekts“ in beiden Ländern sowie die Möglichkeiten der Bürgerbeteiligung an politischen Konsultationsprozessen, aufgegriffen. Die Herausgeber*innen Dr. Artur Kopka ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder).     Abstract: Gibt es andere Maßstäbe für die Entscheidungen, die Verfassungsrichter treffen, als das geltende Recht und Präzedenzfälle? Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht, ob sich das für den U.S. Supreme Court etablierte strategische Modell richterlicher Entscheidungsfindung auf das Bundesverfassungsgericht übertragen lässt und kommt zu dem Schluss, dass es sich bei den Verfassungsrichtern in Karlsruhe durchaus um strategisch denkende und agierende Akteure handelt. Die Autorin Martina Schlögel hat Politische Wissenschaft und Soziologie in Erlangen und Budapest studiert. Sie hatte Lehraufträge an den Universitäten Erlangen-Nürnberg und Mainz im Fach Politische Wissenschaft und befasst sich in ihrer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit im Schwerpunkt mit Verfassungsgerichtsbarkeit in Deutschland und den USA. Sie arbeitet beim Bundesbeauftragten für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit und leitet dort das Referat Informationsfreiheit.

    Abstract: Angesichts des Verstummens von Zeitzeug:innen und des Wiedererstarkens fremdenfeindlicher Motive und Mechanismen wie Antisemitismus, Rassismus und Rechtspopulismus ist Erinnerung an den Holocaust aktueller denn je. Gedenkstätten wie die „Erinnerungs- und Gedenkstätte Wewelsburg 1933 – 1945“ nahe Paderborn stellen in der gesellschaftlichen Erinnerungskultur als bildungspolitische Orte zur Erinnerung an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus und der Mahnung an die leidvollen Ereignisse unter der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur eine notwendige Möglichkeit hierfür dar. Um sich mit dieser politisch sensiblen Geschichte und ihren aktuellen Erscheinungsformen auseinanderzusetzen, bedient sich die Wewelsburg des Ausdrucksmittels Kunst. Als erste umfassende interdisziplinäre Grundlagenforschung befasst sich dieses Buch mit jenem einzigartigen Stück bundesdeutscher Kunstgeschichte nach 1945, einer bildgewordenen, (un-)erwünschten Erinnerung aus einer theologischen Perspektive. Stephanie Lerke zeigt auf, dass das nachkriegsexpressionistische Wewelsburger Mahnmal von Josef Glahé den Betrachtenden durch sein breites Bildprogramm ein komplexes Themenfeld von historischen und theologischen Inhalten mit aktueller, erinnerungspolitischer Relevanz eröffnet.     Abstract: Dieser Band versammelt Texte aus dem Nachlass Moritz Schlicks über den Begriff und die Geschichte der Philosophie. Ein großer Teil davon gehört zum Spätwerk Schlicks, und er plante selbst, sie zu publizieren. Diese Edition macht darum erstmals und im Zusammenhang Texte zugänglich, die noch weitgehend unbekannt sind. Schlick zeichnete darin die Philosophiegeschichte als Geschichte eines Irrtums. Dieser Irrtum wurde von den Eleaten zuerst begangen, indem sie Schein und Sein unterschieden, und wird seither in wechselnder Terminologie wiederholt. Durch die moderne Logik kann dieser Irrtum nach Schlicks Ansicht beseitigt werden.
