    Abstract: Tiefgreifender könnte der Wandel sozialstruktureller Rahmenbedingungen des Umgangs mit Abfall kaum sein, als er für die Zeit nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs gewöhnlich konstatiert wird. Was in den 1930er Jahren die NS-Wirtschaftspolitik zum verwertbaren Rohstoff erklärt, geht in der seit den 1950er Jahren zunehmend schwieriger zu bewältigenden 'Flut von Abfällen' unter und wird in den Folgejahrzehnten zum umweltpolitisch schwer handhabbaren, dafür umso dringlicher zu lösenden Problem. Der ökonomische Aufschwung und die beschleunigte Entwicklung der Massenkonsumgesellschaft erzeugen eine 'Müll-Lawine', in die heute dringliche Fragen wie die Endlagerung des Atommülls, der Export von Elektroschrott nach Afrika oder die Verschmutzung der Meere durch Plastikabfall noch gar nicht eingerechnet sind. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes interessieren sich für die an die sozialen Praktiken des Umgangs mit Abfall geknüpften Diskurse und Darstellungsverfahren sowie für kulturpoetische Kontinuitäten und Diskontinuitäten zwischen den 1930er Jahren und der Gegenwart. Fallstudien zur Abfallproblematik in der deutschen und internationalen Literatur, in Popsongs, in Karikaturen, in der Malerei, im Computerspiel sowie im Fernsehspiel, in TV-Serien und Kinofilmen eröffnen transmediale Vergleichsmöglichkeiten.

This book examines how people use linguistic strategies such as repeating or paraphrasing others' words with multimodal resources like emojis and GIFs in online discussion boards focused on weight loss support to create intertextuality - or connections between texts, interactions, and other creations that facilitate meaning-making. These strategies allow posters to engage in metadiscourse, or communication about language and communication. By applying the perspective of metadiscourse in a study of intertextuality, Gordon offers important new insights into why intertextuality occurs and what it accomplishes: it helps people manage the challenges of communication.

    Abstract: Verlagsinfo: Dieser Band will mit dem Begriff des 'Postmigrant Turn' eine Debatte anstoßen: Wie kann die postmigrantische Perspektive für kulturwissenschaftliche Untersuchungen als Analysekategorie nutzbar gemacht werden? Die Argumentation für eine postmigrantische Theoriewende soll der Steigerung von Sichtbarkeit marginalisierter künstlerischer Praktiken und Stimmen zuarbeiten und - an der Schnittstelle von Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft - kritische wie produktive Diskussionen rund um das Themenfeld Postmigration anstoßen. Deshalb sollen auch solche Stimmen zu Wort kommen, die sich außerhalb des Universitären mit der Bezeichnung 'postmigrantisch' identifizieren und die noch stärker in akademische Diskurse Eingang finden sollten. Ähnlich der postkolonialen Perspektive wird die postmigrantische Linse zur Betrachtung gesellschaftlicher (Macht-)Strukturen herangezogen. Aus der Position der Critical-Whiteness-Forschung geht es ferner darum, einen Beitrag zur (An-)Erkennung von strukturellem und institutionellem Rassismus zu leisten und Diskurshoheiten einer weißen Dominanzgesellschaft zu hinterfragen. Interessanterweise bedienen sich in den letzten Jahren immer häufiger Autor*innen, Künstler*innen, Schreibkollektive und Theater des Terminus der Postmigration, teilweise wird er als Selbstbeschreibung und Kampfbegriff mit selbstermächtigendem Potenzial verwendet. Postmigration als Label eines weiß-dominierten Buchmarktes oder als aktivistische Selbstpositionierung - eine umfassende Theoretisierung wie kritische Reflexion der Verwendung des Begriffs ist die Aufgabe einer engagierten Kulturwissenschaft zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts. Die zentralen Fragen des Bandes lauten: Was bedeutet ein Postmigrant Turn? Welche Gegenstände nimmt er in den Fokus? Welche Analysemerkmale hält er bereit? Die beispielhaften Untersuchungen des Bandes dienen dazu, einen Perspektivwechsel und eine Diskursverschiebung aufzuzeigen, und argumentieren dafür, Postmigration als kulturwissenschaftliche Analysekategorie zu etablieren.

    Abstract: The analysis and understanding of multilingualism, and its relationship to identity in the face of globalization, migration and the increasing dominance of English as a lingua franca, makes it a complex and challenging problem that requires insights from a range of disciplines. With reference to a variety of languages and contexts, this book offers fascinating insights into multilingual identity from a team of world-renowned scholars, working from a range of different theoretical and methodological perspectives. Three overarching themes are explored - situatedness, identity practices, and investment - and detailed case studies from different linguistic and cultural contexts are included throughout. The chapter authors' consideration of 'multilingualism-as-resource' challenges the conception of 'multilingualism-as-problem', which has dogged so much political thinking in late modernity.     Abstract: Zugang zu Land ist begehrt und umkämpft. Das verdeutlichen Konflikte, die weltweit im Zusammenhang mit land grabbing auftreten. Wie aber lassen sich Entstehung und Verlauf dieser Konflikte erklären? Dieser Frage nähert sich Sarah Kirst in einer Fallstudie zu zwei Konflikten um Zugang zu Land im Kontext der Umsetzung agrarindustrieller Vorhaben in Ghana. Aus machtkritischer Perspektive beleuchtet sie die Rolle traditioneller Autoritäten, die zentrale Akteur*innen in diesen Konflikten sind. Ihre Analyse entschlüsselt die Bedeutung unterschiedlicher Machtformen für Konfliktentstehung und -verlauf und zeigt soziale Ungleichheitsverhältnisse im Kontext von land grabbing auf
