    Abstract: Zwei Buschmänner machen mit dem Springhasenspeer einen Springhasen in seinem Bau aus, haken das Tier mit dem Speer fest und graben es aus. Der Springhase wird zubereitet und über Holzkohle gegart. Während der Wartezeit behandelt der eine Jäger seinen über Halsschmerzen klagenden Jagdgefährten. Er ritzt die Haut des Kranken an der Brust mit einer Rasierklinge und reibt Fett und Holzkohlenasche in die Schnittwunden; dann massiert er Oberkörper und Hals.
    Abstract: Two Bushmen are searching for a springhare warren. After some time one hunter succeeds in putting up and locating a springhare in his warren with the springhare spear. His compagnon hooks the animal and the man digs it out. The animal is disemboweled, sinews, bones and other usable parts are put away. The hare is singed in an open fire, then placed in a pit in the ground and cooked covered with hot charcoal. In the meantime the hunter tattoos his fellow suffering from a sore throat. He rubs a specific "medicinal" fat and ashes into the wounds, then given the man a massage. The treatment takes a long times and when it comes to an end, the hare is properly cooked. The two hunters eat the hare joined by a third man who had been waiting for them in the bush.

    Abstract: Two Bushman women and one girl are gathering food in the veld. They collect roots and tubers, larvae, beetles and berries. The film shows the gatherers passing through the bush as well as the different techniques of collecting. On their way home the women also take firewood with them, back in the camp one woman roasts a handful of larvae in the hot ashes of a fire in front of her hut.

Nach einem Fehlschuß auf eine Antilope wird eine andere vom Giftpfeil getroffen, nach langer Verfolgung gestellt und mit Speeren getötet. Die Beute wird zerlegt. Die Jäger stärken sich bei einem Jagdmahl; dann tragen sie die Fleischstücke ins Dorf.
    Abstract: Three G/wi Bushmen pick up the track of a number of gemsboks and follow it for hours through the bush. After a bad shoot they hit one gemsbok with a poison arrow and follow its trail. After a long pursuit they bring the animal to bay and kill it with spears. The gemsbok is carefully cut up. The hunters eat some pieces of roasted meat, then transport the meat to the village.

    Abstract: Near a "pan" bushmen are seen searching for a springhare warren. Several of these are empty. Finally a man succeeds in hooking an animal and while he is holding it, the other men, with digging sticks, dig down to capture and kill it. The film also shows bushmen repairing a broken springhare-spear.

    Abstract: Nach dem Zusammensetzen von Spitze (Eisendraht), Muffe, Verbindungsstück und Schaft (Ried) zu einem Pfeil wird der freistehende Hals der Pfeilspitze mit einer Giftmischung überzogen. Das Gift besteht aus der Haemolymphe der Larven von Diamphidia simplex (Käfer) und einem Wurzelsaft, der als Giftleim dient.
    Abstract: The making and assembly of an arrow, consisting of point, sleeve, link-shaft and reed-shaft is shown. First the tip is forged from a piece of fencing wire and shaped with a file. The reed-shaft, already cut to size, is then reinforced at both ends. A small reed is shaped into a sleeve, and reinforced with sinew. The shaft of the tip is wrapped with sinew and then glued into the sleeve. The sleeve is placed onto the link-shaft and is assembled with the reed-shaft. The shaft of the tip is then coated with a poison compound mixed in the poison mortar. It consists of haemolymph of Diamphidia simplex larvae and the juice of a tuber as glue.

    Abstract: A man twirls a bowstring from pieces of sinew while his colleague works on the bowstaffe. He straightens a piece of a raw wood over the fire after debarking it. Then he tapers the ends and smoothes the bowstaffe. For reinforcement he wraps the ends and middle of the staffe with sinew. In one of the ends he attaches a small stub of leather. The bowstring is attached to the top end of the bow and then to the bottom end (with the leather stub) around which it is looped. This aids in anchoring the string under tension. The correct tone of the string reveals its correct tension.

    Abstract: Drei lange, dünne Ruten werden erhitzt, entrindet und geradegebogen. Ihre Enden werden so schräg geschnitten, daß sie miteinander verbunden werden können. Das geschieht durch Leimen und Umwickeln mit Sehnen. Am Speerende wird ein angespitztes Stück starken Drahtes wie ein Fischhaken befestigt.
    Abstract: Three thin, long branches are debarked and straightened, then cleaned and trimmed. The ends are tapered so that they can be smoothly joined or spliced to form a springhare spear. To do this the joints are glued with gum and wrapped with sinew. The end of the spear is fitted with a strong piece of sharpened wire to form a hook (similar to a fishhook). It is fastened with strong sinew lashings.

    Abstract: Ein an beiden Enden entrindetes Wurzelstück des Kameldornbaumes (Acacia luederitzii) wird in einer Grube mit heißem Sand eingegraben und in heißem Zustand mit Wasser besprüht. Durch Schlagen auf Stein wird die Rinde gelöst und in einem Stück abgezogen. Dieses Rohr wird am unteren Ende mit der Haut eines Antilopenskrotums verschlossen und mit Sehnen verstärkt.
    Abstract: Two men uncover a root of the camelthorntree and from it cut a straight piece. One of the men removes all the root "eyes", debarks both ends and slightly whittles down the diameter of the wood. In a prepared hot bed of sand he buries and roasts the root. With a spray of water he cools and shrinks its bark. By pounding the end of the free wood on a log he finally succeeds in slipping the bark tube off the stem. He seals one end of this tube with a wet gemsbok scrotum and reinforces it with evenly spaced loops of sniew, which prevents the quiver from cracking.

    Abstract: Steenbokhaut wird bearbeitet: Spannen, Trocknen, Schaben; nach einer Behandlung mit Fett und heißem Wasser Enthaaren, Walken mit der Hand. Die Halsgegend der bearbeiteten Haut wird nach Anfeuchten mit Löchern versehen. Der Köcher wird in die Haut gesteckt und verschnürt. Die beim Trocknen entstehende Spannung gibt dem Köcher festen Halt. Die Haut der Vorder- und Hinterläufe wird zu Tragriemen zusammengebunden. An ihnen wird eine Schlaufe für den Bogen und eine Tasche für die Speerspitze angebracht.
    Abstract: A hunter skins a snared steenbok in such a manner that he is able to pull the skin over its head. It is then stretched (inside out) over two vertical springy sticks planted in the ground. The bottom of the skin is pegged out in a circle on the ground. When dry the skin is scraped on its underside, rubbed with fat, and soaked with hot water. It is then turned outside in and plucked of all its hairs. Then the skin is kneaded between the hands until dry and thoroughly soft. The neck-region is again moistened. Small eyelets are cut into the end of the neck-region so that a loop for closing this end can be threaded through them. The bag is then turned inside out again and the quiver is pushed hard into the narrow neck-region. When the moist neck section of the skin has dried here, it contracts tightly around the quiver. The legs are tied together to form carrying straps. A loop for the bow and a small pocket for the spearpoint are added as a final embellishment.

    Abstract: Aus Kalahari-Sisal (Sansevieria scabrifolia) drillt ein Buschmann auf dem Oberschenkel Fäden; je zwei davon zwirnt er zu einer Schnur. Eine dünne Schnur wird als Schlaufe etwa 1 m vor dem Ende in die dicke Schnur gespleißt. Sie nimmt das kleine Holzstückchen auf, mit dem die Falle gesichert wird.
    Abstract: An old man extracts, with his digging stick and under pressure of his foot, the fibres of the Kalahari sisal. He then rolls together small bundles of these by twirling them in a distal direction on his thighs. Two such rolled bundles are spun together to one string by twirling them distally as well but then shaping the string with a quick proximal movement of the hand. New bundles are continuously spliced into the ends until the twine is of sufficient length. Then the entire twine is cleaned by rubbing it with leaves. Loops at the ends prevent the twine from unravelling. A thin piece of string with an end-loop is spliced into the twine. A small twig is attached within the loop. This completes the assembly of a snare.

    Abstract: Am Ende der Fährte einer Steenbok-Antilope errichtet ein Jäger eine Schwippgalgenfalle aus einem armdicken Baum, den er mit einer Leine in Bogenform spannt. Das untere Ende der Leine sichert er in einer Mulde und versieht es mit einem Abzugsmechanismus. Den Rest legt er als Schlinge aus. Am nächsten Morgen findet er eine verendete Antilope in seiner Falle.
    Abstract: A hunter locates the run of a steenbok and blocks all the other passages between the bushes so that the antelope is forced to pass through one place only. After selecting a large, suitable, springy branch, he anchors this in the ground at the passage point. To it he attaches the snare and fastens it exactly in the passage with its loop open and its trigger mechanism set and attached to a peg. The loop is carefully hidden under grass and sand. The next day the hunter finds a dead steenbok in the snare.

    Abstract: Das zuvor aufgebohrte Ende eines Speerschaftes wird durch Umwickeln mit Sehnen verstärkt, bevor das in kaltem Zustand aus einem Eisenstück geschmiedete Speerblatt eingesetzt wird. Die Schneide des Speerblattes wird durch Feilen hergestellt.
    Abstract: A hunter trims and shapes a stick for his spear handle. He drills a hole in the end of it to receive the shaft of the spear blade. Around it he wraps a reinforcing of sinew. Then he forges a spear blade at the end of a piece of iron, employing such simple tools as a stone anvil and chisel-like hammer. With a file he finally shapes and sharpens the blade and tapers the spear blade's shaft. This is then glued into the hole of the handle and the spear is completed.
