Abstract:
Ein Holzstab wird über dem Feuer gebogen, an den Enden zugespitzt und mit Sehnen umwickelt. Dann wird die aus getrockneten Tiersehnen gedrillte Bogensehne angebracht und verschnürt. Die Spannung des Bogens wird durch Zupfen der Sehne und Abhören ihres Tones geprüft.
Abstract:
A man twirls a bowstring from pieces of sinew while his colleague works on the bowstaffe. He straightens a piece of a raw wood over the fire after debarking it. Then he tapers the ends and smoothes the bowstaffe. For reinforcement he wraps the ends and middle of the staffe with sinew. In one of the ends he attaches a small stub of leather. The bowstring is attached to the top end of the bow and then to the bottom end (with the leather stub) around which it is looped. This aids in anchoring the string under tension. The correct tone of the string reveals its correct tension.
