Abstract:
Ein an beiden Enden entrindetes Wurzelstück des Kameldornbaumes (Acacia luederitzii) wird in einer Grube mit heißem Sand eingegraben und in heißem Zustand mit Wasser besprüht. Durch Schlagen auf Stein wird die Rinde gelöst und in einem Stück abgezogen. Dieses Rohr wird am unteren Ende mit der Haut eines Antilopenskrotums verschlossen und mit Sehnen verstärkt.
Abstract:
Two men uncover a root of the camelthorntree and from it cut a straight piece. One of the men removes all the root "eyes", debarks both ends and slightly whittles down the diameter of the wood. In a prepared hot bed of sand he buries and roasts the root. With a spray of water he cools and shrinks its bark. By pounding the end of the free wood on a log he finally succeeds in slipping the bark tube off the stem. He seals one end of this tube with a wet gemsbok scrotum and reinforces it with evenly spaced loops of sniew, which prevents the quiver from cracking.
