Abstract:
Abstract:
An old man extracts, with his digging stick and under pressure of his foot, the fibres of the Kalahari sisal. He then rolls together small bundles of these by twirling them in a distal direction on his thighs. Two such rolled bundles are spun together to one string by twirling them distally as well but then shaping the string with a quick proximal movement of the hand. New bundles are continuously spliced into the ends until the twine is of sufficient length. Then the entire twine is cleaned by rubbing it with leaves. Loops at the ends prevent the twine from unravelling. A thin piece of string with an end-loop is spliced into the twine. A small twig is attached within the loop. This completes the assembly of a snare.
