    Abstract: Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important topic in the cultural sector. While museums have long focused on building digital object databases, the existing data can now become a field of application for machine learning, deep learning and foundation model approaches. This goes hand in hand with new artistic practices, curation tools, visitor analytics, chatbots, automatic translations and tailor-made text generation. With a decidedly interdisciplinary approach, the volume brings together a wide range of critical reflections, practical perspectives and concrete applications of artificial intelligence in museums and offers an overview of the current state of the debate.

Die Beiträger*innen legen anhand häufig übersehener Kulturphänomene wie den Liebesgeschichten in der Illustrierten "Constanze" oder den Gedichten der jungen Münchnerin Dagmar Nick ein spannungsreiches Bild der BRD frei. Jenseits von eindimensionalen Zuschreibungen geben sie so neue Impulse für die kulturwissenschaftliche Erforschung der deutschen Nachkriegszeit.

Rechtspopulistinnen und fragwürdige Influencerinnen nutzen bewusst sprachliche Unschärfen und ironische Zwischentöne, um das Gesagte im Nachhinein relativieren zu können. Fabian Schäfer untersucht die besondere Aufmerksamkeitsökonomie und die Konnektivität des Likens und Teilens der sozialen Medien, die die Ausbreitung von politischem und kulturellem Zynismus anfachen. Mit dem Konzept des konnektiven Zynismus zeigt er auf, wie aus randständigem Humor Profit geschlagen und mit antidemokratischen Diskursstrategien Politik gemacht wird

Die Sammlung zielt in Form witziger, unheimlicher und – mehr oder weniger – kluger Dialoge zwischen Mensch und Maschine auf die Dokumentation einer mediengeschichtlichen Passage in eine neue Ära allgegenwärtiger KI.

    Abstract: Jüdisches Leben beinhaltet eine vielstimmige, lebhafte und facettenreiche religiöse Kultur im heutigen Deutschland. Die Ausstellung »Jüdisches Leben in Marburg: Erinnern schafft Identität« hat im Jahr 2022 anhand von Portraits Marburger Jüdinnen und Juden einen Einblick in diese gelebte Vielfalt gegeben. Der Band dokumentiert diese Ausstellung. Im Zentrum stehen dabei biografische Erzählungen sowie Gegenstände, die als Objekte der Erinnerung wichtig sind oder die als Ausdruck der religiösen und kulturellen Zugehörigkeit zum Judentum fungieren. Texte und Objektfotos geben einen tiefenscharfen, menschlich nahen Blick auf das gelebte Judentum – nicht nur in Marburg.

    Abstract: Rassismus ist ein unerledigtes Problem moderner Gesellschaften. Das Ineinander von Rationalität und Irrationalität prädestiniert Rassismus zum Gegenstand Kritischer Theorie: Diese verbindet gerade in den Varianten ihrer ersten Generation (Adorno, Horkheimer u.a.) die Perspektive auf Funktion und objektive Genese von Ideologien mit psychologischem Blick auf subjektive Verarbeitungsformen. Um Rassismus in eine Gesellschaftstheorie einzubetten, widmet sich Ulrike Marz den drei Kategorien Gesellschaft, Ökonomie und Subjekt. Damit erweitert sie den theoretischen Blickwinkel auf Rassismus und vermittelt mithilfe der Kritischen Theorie Gegensatzpaare, die oft nur einseitig beschieden werden: Objektivismus - Subjektivismus, Natur - Kultur, Partikularismus - Universalismus

    Abstract: Wir sind umgeben von einer Vielzahl an Informationsströmen, die uns selbstverständlich erscheinen. Um diese digitalen Kulturen zu beschreiben, entwickeln medienwissenschaftliche Arbeiten Theorien einer Welt im Fluss. Dabei erliegen ihre Diagnosen oftmals einem Technikfetisch und vernachlässigen gesellschaftliche Strukturen. Mathias Denecke legt eine systematische Kritik dieser Theoriebildung vor. Dazu zeichnet er die Geschichte der Rede von strömenden Informationen in der Entwicklung digitaler Computer nach und diskutiert, wie der Begriff für Gegenwartsbeschreibungen produktiv gemacht werden kann

Populärkultur beruht auf Konzepten wie Jugend, Dynamik, Aktualität und Schnelllebigkeit, strebt nach Grenzüberschreitungen, geht mit der Mode oder setzt sogar neue Trends. Gleichwohl bietet sie Raum für die Darstellung von Altersprozessen, die Reflexion von Stereotypen zu Alter und Altern sowie für die Entwicklung neuer Alterskonzepte. Die Beiträgerinnen des Bandes loten die bisher kaum systematisch beachtete Kombination von Alter(n) und Populärkultur anhand verschiedener medialer Formate wie Film, Fernsehserie, Literatur, Comic oder Hörspiel aus.
