    Abstract: Zwei Zeremonialgruppen sammeln sich im Wald, brechen auf, errichten Jagdlager, frühstücken Maniokfladen, jagen mit Büchsen, Pfeil und Bogen Spießhirsche (Mazama spec.), Ameisenbären (Myrmecophaga tetradactyla), Hyazinth-Ara, Pfefferfresser, Goldhasen (Dasyprocta aguti), geflechte Pakka, Beutelratten, Nasenbären, Gürteltiere, Iltis. Auswaiden und Zerlegen der Beute. Frauen bereiten und verteilen Fleisch. Alle brechen mit Gerät und Beute auf. Klotzrennen der männlichen Jugend.
    Abstract: Participants in the hunt separate into two groups in the field, and two camps of simple huts are established. The hunt begins after the morning meal; the kill is prepared by the women and is divided among all of the hunters. Near the end of the expedition, the male youths begin a log relay race.

    Abstract: Ein Mann schnitzt und poliert eine bikonkave Holzscheibe, verziert sie mit einem Bandornament, färbt den ausgehöhlten Scheibenrand mit Urucú rot und setzt sie anstelle der alten Lippenscheibe ein. Beim Baden wäscht ein älterer Mann Lippenscheibe und Lippenstrang und setzt die Scheibe wieder ein.
    Abstract: A Suya prepares, polishes, and decorates a wooden lip disc and inserts it in place of the old one. An older Suya is seen removing his lip disc and cleaning it with water while bathing.

    Abstract: On the way to a fishing expedition, Caraja men first stop by a sandbank to dig up some tasty tortoise eggs (Podocnemis). Then a large net is anchored across the lake. Men drive the bonytongue fish (Arapaima gigas) into the net by beating the water with long poles. Once a fish is caught in the net, a diver retrieves it and brings it to the surface, where it is killed by another fisherman with an axe.

    Abstract: Ein Mann und drei Frauen holen aus der Savanne junge Buriti-Palmblätter (Mauritia flexuosa Mart.). Aus den fächerförmigen Blättern wird kreuzweise je eine Korbhälfte geflochten. Die Hälften werden zusammengeknotet und verflochten. Die aus dem Rand herausragenden Blattspitzen des bootförmigen Korbes werden abgeschnitten.

Das Maniokmehl breiten sie auf einem Bananenblatt aus, verteilen darüber Fleischstücke, schnüren alles zu einem großen Paket, das auf heiße Steine gelegt und mit Blättern und Erde abgedeckt wird. Der fertige Kuchen wird anderentags ausgepackt und verteilt.
    Abstract: Kraho women harvesting and preparing manioc. The manioc meal is mixed with pieces of meat, spread onto a large banana leaf, and is covered with leaves. This bundle is tied together, laid on hot stones, and is covered with leaves and earth. The finished cakes are uncovered the next morning and are cut into two large pieces. The villagers are divided into two groups; each cake is cut into smaller pieces and distributed to the people.

    Abstract: Eine Frau sammelt gifthaltige Bákablätter, die ein Mann im Mörser zerstampft und in Körbe füllt. Männer, Frauen und Kinder ziehen flußaufwärts, wo sie Fische schießen und die Körbe im Wasser ausschwenken. Flußabwärts werden die toten und gelähmten Fische eingesammelt. Ein Mann quirlt Feuer zum Räuchern der Fische. Im Dorf schmücken sich Männer und Frauen zum Fest. Die Männer tanzen in langer Reihe durch die Häuser und auf dem Dorfplatz.
    Abstract: In preparation of a common catch of fish, the poisonous leaves of cultivated báka bushes are picked in the vicinity of a Kaschinaua village and, later on, the leaves are pulverized in mortars in the village. Following this, men, women and children walk upstream for three days until they reach a spot on the river which is particularly abundant with fish. Here the baskets containing the pulverized báka leaves are immersed and emptied into the water. The "fish poison" dissolves in the river water. Further downstream the Kaschinaua wait for the poisoned fish. The men kill the stunned fish by means of bow and arrow; women and children collect the dead fish. After this, one man kindles a flame by the drilling method to light a fire and then the caught fishes are gradually smoked on a grate which is positioned above the fire. After having returned to the village, both men and women dress up to hold a feast. The men dance in a long row through the houses and on the village square.

    Abstract: Eine mit Hausrat und Waffen bepackte Gruppe bricht für einen mehrtägigen Fischzug zu einem Savannenfluß auf: Aufbau eines Lagers, Vergiften des Flußwassers durch Zerfasern von giftigen Lianen, Erlegen der betäubten Fische mit Pfeil und Bogen, Backen der Fische mit Stangenrosten.
    Abstract: Equipped with weapons and the necessary utensils, a group of Kraho Indians travels to a river and sets up camp. The men gather liana plants, break them up, and place them into the water to stun the fish. The fish are killed with bow and arrow and are taken to the camp where the women bake the fish over an open fire.

    Abstract: Ausschnitte aus den zum letzten Mal ausgeführten Totenkulttänzen des damals noch freilebenden Reststammes der Umutina. Die Maskentänzer, die die Seelen verstorbener Verwandter verkörpern, sind immer Männer und werden von Frauen nur begleitet. Gezeigt werden der Bakurétanz (Flagelliertanz des Waldhundes), der Hatóri-Großmaskentanz und der Arischinótanz.
    Abstract: Extracts of last death cult dances performed by still free-living survivors of the Umutima people. Mask dancers, embodying souls of deceased relatives, are always male. They are accompanied by women. "Bakure" dance (flagellating dance of "forest dog"), "Hatori" dance of great masks and "Arischino" dance are shown.

    Abstract: Ein junger Bursche mit flacher, hölzerner Lippenscheibe in der durchbohrten Unterlippe ißt Fleischstücke und trinkt Wasser aus einer halbierten Kalebasse, die oberhalb der Lippenscheibe in den Mund geschoben wird. Ein anderer trinkt ebenfalls und zeigt die Schwierigkeiten beim Ausspeien von Wasser und Rauchen einer Zigarette.

    Abstract: Am Anfang der Trockenzeit tanzen zwischen den Hütten und dem Maskenhaus des Sommerdorfes Jatobá zwei Maskenpaare: Im Maskenhaus legen die Burschen die dreiteilige Maskenkleidung an, tanzen wiederholt singend und Rasseln schlagend paarweise auf das Dorf zu und kehren zurück. Frauen tanzen den Masken entgegen. Anschließend bereiten sie Essen für die Burschen im Maskenhaus. Vor dem Beginn der Feldarbeiten sammeln mehrere Männer Honig. Dann erfolgen die Abschlußtänze.
    Abstract: Spaced from each other the summer huts and the mask-house of the Javahé-village Jatobá are standing on a sandbank in a small river on the Bananal Island. Inside the mask-house several young men put on mask-dresses. They come out. Singing and shaking a rattle the masks are dancing in pairs towards the village and then return to the mask-house. This action is repeated. Out of the huts, the women approach the masks, dance with them seperated by a few steps, facing each other, and then return to their places, followed by the masks. For the men, living in the mask-house, food is prepared and then brought to them. Towards the end of the dry season the men move to the plains, to collect honey. After this, the mask dances are continued once again for a few days.

Abschließend findet ein Männerrennen mit einem besonders schweren Klotz statt, das mit einem Zeremonialtanz und Gebet endet.
