Abschließend werden sie auf einen Sehnenfaden aufgefädelt bzw. angebunden und können nun von der Tochter als eine Art Kette getragen werden.
    Abstract: A Bushman cuts from branches two sticks 30 cm long and one stick 5 cm long. He removes the bark, decorates the sticks, smears them with fat and blackens them. The sticks are tied one after another to a piece of sinew and so will be used by the man's daughter to perform her tasks in the ceremony of initiation. After the initiation, the girl will wear them as a kind of necklace.

    Abstract: A man softens and stretches a piece of wildebeest hide. Selecting the best portions, he cuts two large pieces of skin which he then trims down to the shape of a sandal. He attaches to the sole the front thongs which pass between the first two toes and the leather loop which embraces the heel. Finally he fastens the sandals to his feet by passing the long thongs under the heel strap side of the foot and then tying them over the instep.

    Abstract: A hunter is cutting to size a block of wood intended for a poison mortar. A friend arrives and is asked by the hunter to take over the task. He does this with skill and artistic ability until the mortar is completed and handed back to the owner. The latter now uses it to mix arrow poison in it. He squeezes the haemolymph of several grubs of Diamphibia simplex and the juice of Citrullus naudinianus into it and mixes this material which is ready for application.

    Abstract: Eine angefeuchtete Gazellenhaut wird gefaltet und halbkreisförmig zugeschnitten. Kurze Lederstreifen werden als Trag- sowie Schmuckriemen mit gedrillten Sehnen an die Tasche genäht. Die unteren werden ausgefranst, die beiden oberen durch Umwickeln verstärkt. Zuletzt wird die Öffnung an der Faltseite in die Tasche geschnitten.
    Abstract: Sewing thread is spun from sinew. A skin is slightly moistened, straightened and folded in half, and with a sharpened knife cut into a semicircular shape. The cut edges are sewn with small evently spaced stitches. From scarps five straps are cut and sewn into the bag. Three of these are tasselated. The two top carrying straps are reinforced and tied together. Finally an opening is cut into the bag.

    Abstract: Two old men stretch and dry a fresh antelopeskin. Once dry it is scraped on both sides to remove blood stains, hair, and bits of flesh. The adze quickly loses its edge and is frequently sharpened. They rub fat and warm water into the skin and thoroughly permeate it. In this condition they knead and work the skin until it is dry and soft. It is given to a girl as a cloak.

    Abstract: Starke Stengel des Erograstis-Grases werden mit gedrillter Schnur aus Kalahari-Sisal (Sansevieria scabrifolia) zu einer Matte geknüpft. Mit dieser Matte werden die gerösteten Kerne der Tsama-Melone aus der Asche gesiebt. Die Kerne werden zerstampft, mit Wasser zu Brei verarbeitet und in das Gesicht gerieben.
    Abstract: A man makes a long stout string of the fibres of the Kalahari sisal, while his wife arranges several shafts of stout grass parallel to each other on the ground. Taking a string, she locates its middle and loops it around the end of one of the grass pieces. The she passes the ends of the string under and over, alternating with each blade of grass until she has fastened, both next to each other and parallel, enough grass for the mat. She continues binding these together by going back and forth across the mat until she reaches the other end of it. To wash she roasts seeds of the tsama melon in hot sand and ashes. With her mat she sieves out all the sand and ashes until only roasted seeds and wood particles (which she removes manually) are left in the sieve. These seeds she stamps to a meal in the mortar. This she permeates with water to form a paste and rubs it over her face. When it is dry she brushes it off and appears oiled and clean.

    Abstract: Drei lange, dünne Ruten werden erhitzt, entrindet und geradegebogen. Ihre Enden werden so schräg geschnitten, daß sie miteinander verbunden werden können. Das geschieht durch Leimen und Umwickeln mit Sehnen. Am Speerende wird ein angespitztes Stück starken Drahtes wie ein Fischhaken befestigt.
    Abstract: Three thin, long branches are debarked and straightened, then cleaned and trimmed. The ends are tapered so that they can be smoothly joined or spliced to form a springhare spear. To do this the joints are glued with gum and wrapped with sinew. The end of the spear is fitted with a strong piece of sharpened wire to form a hook (similar to a fishhook). It is fastened with strong sinew lashings.

A flat, hard stone is fitted into it and fastened with a vegetable paste. It is roasted and dried to keep it from cracking and then trimmed to its final shape before being equipped with a pestle.

    Abstract: Steenbokhaut wird bearbeitet: Spannen, Trocknen, Schaben; nach einer Behandlung mit Fett und heißem Wasser Enthaaren, Walken mit der Hand. Die Halsgegend der bearbeiteten Haut wird nach Anfeuchten mit Löchern versehen. Der Köcher wird in die Haut gesteckt und verschnürt. Die beim Trocknen entstehende Spannung gibt dem Köcher festen Halt. Die Haut der Vorder- und Hinterläufe wird zu Tragriemen zusammengebunden. An ihnen wird eine Schlaufe für den Bogen und eine Tasche für die Speerspitze angebracht.
    Abstract: A hunter skins a snared steenbok in such a manner that he is able to pull the skin over its head. It is then stretched (inside out) over two vertical springy sticks planted in the ground. The bottom of the skin is pegged out in a circle on the ground. When dry the skin is scraped on its underside, rubbed with fat, and soaked with hot water. It is then turned outside in and plucked of all its hairs. Then the skin is kneaded between the hands until dry and thoroughly soft. The neck-region is again moistened. Small eyelets are cut into the end of the neck-region so that a loop for closing this end can be threaded through them. The bag is then turned inside out again and the quiver is pushed hard into the narrow neck-region. When the moist neck section of the skin has dried here, it contracts tightly around the quiver. The legs are tied together to form carrying straps. A loop for the bow and a small pocket for the spearpoint are added as a final embellishment.

    Abstract: Frauen graben Löcher im Kreis in den Boden und befestigen darin lange Aststangen. Zwischen die Äste legen sie kleinere Zweige. Zum Schluß wird das Gerüst mit Grasbüscheln abgedeckt sowie der Hüttenboden gereinigt und geglättet.
    Abstract: Women return to the village with bundles of grass and loads of branches of dead wood. In a circle the women make holes for the long branches with their digging sticks, and at the top incline these towards each other. Then they place numerous smaller branches between this frame-work in such a way that they all support each other. They thatch the frame by covering it with tussocks of grass, starting at the bottom and completing the task at the top. Finally they clean the sand inside the hut and smooth it down to make the hut ready for occupation.

    Abstract: Ein Holzstab wird über dem Feuer gebogen, an den Enden zugespitzt und mit Sehnen umwickelt. Dann wird die aus getrockneten Tiersehnen gedrillte Bogensehne angebracht und verschnürt. Die Spannung des Bogens wird durch Zupfen der Sehne und Abhören ihres Tones geprüft.
    Abstract: A man twirls a bowstring from pieces of sinew while his colleague works on the bowstaffe. He straightens a piece of a raw wood over the fire after debarking it. Then he tapers the ends and smoothes the bowstaffe. For reinforcement he wraps the ends and middle of the staffe with sinew. In one of the ends he attaches a small stub of leather. The bowstring is attached to the top end of the bow and then to the bottom end (with the leather stub) around which it is looped. This aids in anchoring the string under tension. The correct tone of the string reveals its correct tension.
