    Abstract: Spätestens mit den Debatten zu einer zunehmenden Polarisierung der deutschen und anderer europäischer Gesellschaften rückt die Frage nach Prozessen der Radikalisierung in den Blick. Neben individuellen Radikalisierungen sind es vor allem gesellschaftliche Rahmenbedingungen, die für die Radikalisierung, manchmal sogar ganzer Gruppen, verantwortlich zeichnen. Im vorliegenden Buch werden unter Einbezug unterschiedlicher Perspektiven Prozesse der Radikalisierung und damit verbundenen Co-Radikalisierung auf rechtsextremer und muslimischer Seite untersucht und diskutiert. Damit liegt erstmalig in deutscher Sprache eine umfassende Zusammenschau der wichtigsten sozialstrukturellen Entwicklungen in Lateinamerika der letzten 20 Jahre vor. Die Sozialstruktur in Lateinamerika ist in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten in Bewegung geraten. Ausschlaggebend waren zum einen die Folgen der neoliberalen Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftspolitik der 1980er und 90er Jahre, zum anderen die Wahl von Mitte-Links-Regierungen seit Beginn der 2000er Jahre. Diese Regierungen stellten das neoliberale Dogma in Frage und nahmen auch dank gestiegener Rohstoffpreise Umverteilungspolitiken in Angriff. Diese sozialen, politischen und kulturellen Umbrüche machten sich auch in den Sozialstrukturen der Region bemerkbar. Der Band analysiert wichtige Entwicklungen, rezente Phänomene und neue Debatten.

    Abstract: Sachsen war in den vergangenen Jahren die Region Deutschlands, in der sich die Probleme der Erhaltung des gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalts und der bis in die bürgerlichen Schichten hineinreichenden Desintegration in besonders heftiger Weise entfalteten. Gesellschaftliche Integration und Desintegration sind dabei zwei Seiten einer Medaille. Der Band widmet sich daher zwei eng verflochtenen Themenkomplexen, zum einen den Integrationsprozessen der sächsischen und deutschen Zuwanderungsgesellschaft, zum anderen Desintegrationsprozessen in der deutschen Gesellschaft, die teils mit Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Rechtsextremismus einhergehen. Die Herausgeber Dr. habil. Steffen Kailitz ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Hannah-Arendt-Institut für Totalitarismusforschung der TU Dresden und Privatdozent an der TU Dresden. Dr. Gert Pickel ist Professor für Religions- und Kirchensoziologie an der Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Leipzig. Tobias Genswein war wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Hannah-Arendt-Institut für Totalitarismusforschung der TU Dresden.

    Abstract: Im politischen System der Bundesrepublik zeichnet sich auf der lokalen Ebene seit geraumer Zeit ab, dass sich das Parteiensystem durch den Einzug neuer Parteien in die Kreistage und Räte erweitert hat, während neue Beteiligungsmöglichkeiten politische Mehrheitskonstellationen weniger vorhersehbar machen. In der Folge sieht sich lokale Politik damit konfrontiert, mit neuen, bisher als „unmöglich“ eingeschätzten Koalitionen, Bündnissen und Verhandlungen regierungsfähig sein zu müssen. Diese Anforderung besteht angesichts neuer sachlicher Herausforderungen des lokalen Regierens. Insbesondere die Migrations- und Integrationspolitik sind in Bewegung. Hier sind nicht nur gute Politik und Verwaltung, sondern auch die Ermöglichung von Partizipation wesentliche Stellschrauben, um zukünftige Herausforderungen in Städten, Kreisen und Gemeinden zu bewältigen.     Abstract: "This book has been brought to life in a period where transnational solidarity and cooperation seemed to be moving backwards rather than forwards. This was among others reflected in the so called refugee crisis in Europe in 2015. After the Brexit referendum in the United Kingdom in June 2016, and presidential elections in the US later the same year, the political agenda took a turn towards focusing primarily on the internal national perspective in relation to areas such as environmental protection, aid to countries in the Third World and trade with the outside world. It still remains to be seen when and how the United Kingdom will be leaving the European Union. In general, the EU has experienced a number of crises, among others an economic and financial crisis and later the refugee crisis, during the past years. These crises have challenged transnational solidarity in Europe. This development in Europe and the World stresses the question, whether and how transnational solidarity is possible. This book is motivated by these developments and discusses and attempts to answer this question. Our main presumption is that solidarity can create stability and sustainability (social, economic, environmental, peace etc.), within states, regions and globally, why it is crucial to gain more knowledge about it. Realization of the UN Sustainability Goals 2017 and 2030 go hand in hand with solidarity at both local, regional and global levels.     Abstract: The constitutional identity of the Member States is a topic of increasing importance in understanding the interaction between the EU and its Member States. This is because the EU is enjoined to respect the constitutional identities of its Member States in accordance with Article 4(2) TEU. There is also a trend among Member States to articulate their constitutional identities, in particular in relation to European integration. In this regard, this volume fills a need in scholarship by presenting critical analyses of the constitutional identities of selected Member States. Leading and well-placed experts contribute country studies on a range of states, which are compared using a framework that can be applied to other Member States as well. The analyses and comparison of Member States' constitutional identities take place in the context of the EU's multilevel architecture

    Abstract: Das Handbuch untersucht interdisziplinär einen Schlüsselbegriff der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften. Es arbeitet für verschiedene Bereiche den Forschungsstand zu ‚Krisen‘ als politischen Handlungssituationen auf und betont zugleich die enge Verbindung zur politischen Praxis, die sich in der Verwendung des Krisenbegriffs beobachten lässt. Während die Erforschung einzelner Krisenereignisse und -phänomene in vielen Disziplinen zum Tagesgeschäft gehört, sind übergreifende konzeptionelle Überlegungen zu Krisen meist auf organisatorische Aspekte des Krisenmanagements oder auf Krisendiskurse beschränkt. An diese Forschungsstände anknüpfend, aber über sie hinausweisend, bearbeitet das Handbuch ‚Krisenforschung‘ aus verschiedenen konzeptionellen und methodischen Perspektiven und plädiert dabei für einen reflexiven Ansatz, der den Begriff der ‚Krise‘ selbst als zu beobachtenden Begriff versteht.     Abstract: Das Buch liefert eine systematische Bestandsaufnahme der Entwicklung des deutschen Parteiensystems insgesamt und aller im Bundestag vertretenen Parteien vor und nach der Bundestagswahl 2017.     Abstract: "As we will demonstrate in this book, the new fault lines around globalization can no longer be fully captured along the classic redistributional left-right axis. In important respects, they run perpendicular to it. Since the end of the Cold War, parties of the mainstream Left and Right, which had transformed themselves in the decades before from 'class' to catch-all parties (Kirchheimer 1965), have converged further on pro-globalization positions on a range of issues, such as support for European integration, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and trade agreements such as TTIP. Even on immigration, probably the most divisive of the issues related to globalization, differences between the mainstream Left and Right have become much smaller than they used to be - both because mainstream left parties have distanced themselves from earlier experiments with multicultural policies and because Conservatives have, at least in large parts of Western Europe, embraced pro-immigration views"--

Many leftists struggled against capitalism and empire while also confronting racism, patriarchy, and authoritarianism. The left's ideology and practice were often shaped by leftists from marginalized populations, from Bolivian indigenous communities in the 1920s to the revolutionary women of El Salvador's guerrilla movements in the 1980s. Through ten historical case studies of ten different countries, Making the Revolution highlights some of the most important research on the Latin American left by leading senior and up-and-coming scholars, offering a needed corrective and valuable contribution to modern Latin American history, politics, and sociology
