    Kurzfassung: Zweitägige Fußwallfahrt am Pfingstsamstag und -sonntag von Holzkirchen bis zum Bogenberg (etwa 70 km). Mitgeführt wird eine 13 m lange "Kerze", ein mit roten Wachssträngen umwickelter Fichtenstamm.
    Kurzfassung: The pilgrimage to the Bogenberg is an impressive survival of the baroque peregrinatio. The film shows the whole procession from Holzkirchen near Vilshofen, along the Danube to the Bogenberg north-east of Straubing (70 km). On this pilgrimage a 13 m long "candle" is carried along with from the town of Bogen to the church of pilgrimage on top of the Bogenberg. This candle is the trunk of a pine-tree covered with stripes of red wax. The film lays a special emphasis on the documentation of the length of this pilgrimage.

    Kurzfassung: Am Tage des hl. Leonhard (6. Nov.) ziehen Wagen, Reiter und kleine Gruppen zu Fuß von Murnau nach der Leonhardskirche Froschhausen, wo eine Feldmesse abgehalten wird. Danach versammeln sich die Teilnehmer vor der Gastwirtschaft; hier treten auch die Goaßlschnalzer mit ihren langen Peitschen in Aktion.
    Kurzfassung: Since 1927 the St. Leonard's pilgrimage in Murnau has taken place, and it is arranged after the known pilgrimage of Bad Tölz. On the day of St. Leonard (6th November) people on carriages, on horses and others walking in small groups are moving from Murnau to the nerby church St. Leonard in Froschhausen where a camp-service is celebrated on a meadow near the church. After the mass the participants meet in front of the only inn of the village and there perform the so-called Goaßlschnalzer (men with long whips).

    Kurzfassung: The film shows the kalushar group dancing in a farm yard, but the main thing is the performance of the death game. One of the dancers is killed by the mutul, who is then forced by the group to reawake the dead man to life. The game, which seems to be rooted in an earlier transit rite, ends with a dance for all.

    Kurzfassung: Maibäume werden vor allem in Oberbayern errichtet, meist weiß-blau (den bayerischen Landesfarben) bemalt und mit Figurengruppen, Handwerkerzeichen usw. geschmückt. Der Film zeigt, wie der Maibaum in Oderding bei Weilheim mit einem Pferdefuhrwerk zur Gastwirtschaft des Ortes gefahren und dort von einer Gruppe jüngerer Männer aufgestellt wird. Der Film dokumentiert nicht nur den Vorgang des Aufstellens, sondern versucht auch Begleiterscheinungen (spielende Kinder, Blaskapelle usw.) zu zeigen, um die Atmosphäre, in der dieser Brauch abläuft, zu skizzieren. Während Maibäume in den Nachbargemeinden seit vielen Jahren errichtet werden, wurde der erste Maibaum in Oderding im Jahre 1965 aufgestellt.
    Kurzfassung: It is mainly in Upper-Bavaria that maypoles are erected. They are mostly painted in white and blue (the regional colours of Bavaria) and decorated with figures and the signs of the various guilds etc. The film shows how the maypole is transported by a horse-pulled trailer to the local inn of Oderding near Weilheim and there erected by a group of young men. Particularly included are the accompanying activities such as playing children, brassband etc. to demonstrate the peculiar atmosphere. While maypoles have been erected in the surrounding communities for many years, the first maypole in Oderding was seen in 1965.

    Kurzfassung: The film shows four Saxon folk dances (Ländler, country waltz; Spinnradel, spinning wheel; Tätscher, patting dance; Walzer, waltz) from the parish Großau on the Zibin, performed by eight young couples in the yard of the old parish school. The musical accompaniment is given by the parish orchester with accordion, flügel horn, bass flügel horn, clarinet and prercussion instruments.

    Kurzfassung: Das "Begraben" der Fahne erfolgt auf demselben Hügel wie das Aufrichten. Die hochgestellte Fahnenstange wird losgelassen, die Männer laufen auseinander. Beim Aufschlag der Stange kehren sie um und begrüßen sich gegenseitig, als hätten sie sich lange nicht mehr gesehen. Der Brauch endet mit dem Tanz der Kaluscharen.
    Kurzfassung: The film shows the kalushar group coming from the village and climbing up a hill to conclude the traditional Whitsun rites. The cloth and the herbs are taken down from the "flag", distributed among the kalushars, the flag pole is hoisted up, and at a sign from the mutul it is let go. At that moment the men spring apart and run away in various directions. As soon as the pole hits the ground they turn round and greet each other as though they had not seen each other for a long time. The film ends with the subsequent dancing.

    Kurzfassung: Vor Sonnenaufgang gehen die Frauen auf den Friedhof, wo sie ihre Toten individuell beklagen sowie die Gräber umkreisen und beweihräuchern. Der zweite Besuch im Friedhof erfolgt nach dem Gottesdienst etwa um 11 Uhr. Auf die Gräber werden Blumen, brennende Kerzen und die Totengaben gestellt. Die Zeremonie der kollektiven Totenklage beginnt, wenn die Kirchenglocken ertönen.
    Kurzfassung: The film shows the death laments in the cementery in the village Priseaca (Olt district). The first part shows the laments of the women before sunrise. The second part shows the lamentations in the morning after the church service. Some lamenting women are shown in several parts of the cementery as well as the more passive participation of some men also present at the morning lamentations.

    Kurzfassung: Dicke Fichtenstämme werden im Hof mit Beil und Keilen aufgespalten, in der Stube mit einer Schablone auf verschiedene Schindellänge gemessen und mit der Handsäge gesägt. Auf der Schnitzbank erfolgt dann die Bearbeitung zu Schindeln mit dem Schindelmesser, dem Schlegel und dem Zugmesser. Außer der Arbeitstechnik zeichnet der Film auch die Verhaltensweise des arbeitenden Menschen auf.
    Kurzfassung: Thick pine logs are split in the courtyard with a hatchet and wedges. Inside the house the slips of wood are marked off with the use of a pattern and cutcu with a hand saw to different length. The shaping into shingles is done on the carver's bench by means of the shingle knife, the mallet, and the draw knife. Besides the working technique the film attaches great value to demonstrating the behaviour of the working man.

This humorous dancing was created only a few years ago, when two boys, coming back from hunting, claimed that they had seen chimps dancing on a rock. Now, they are dancing like those chimps, alternately with different masks of their village.

The balls bounce against each other rhythmically. Sometimes they accompany their songs with a spatula, rubbed rhythmically, and this sound is reinforced by a nut shell or a bowl.

    Kurzfassung: Almost every village of the Baule cultivates an artistic speciality which is performed during festivities either in their own village or in other villages. To this category belong also acrobatic dances. Using difficult jumps, the young men dance, by turns, to the rhythms of three drums, one iron bell, one rattle-calabash and one "rub-rattle". Afterwards two solo-dancers appear.

    Kurzfassung: Unter eine erregte Menschenmenge mischen sich Masken mit ihrem Gefolge. Sie zeigen die für sie jeweils charakteristischen Bewegungstypen. Einzelne Begleiter zeichnen sich durch Blatt- und Bastwedel sowie bestimmte Gesten und Tanzschritte aus. Abschließend tanzen und singen die Frauen des Dorfes.
    Kurzfassung: At the end of the Yams festival, which for the northern Dan separates the old year from the new year, the masks leave the bush and come down from the mountains to the village. They dance outside the village and then move over the country to greet the government officials. On the way each mask shows for our team typical parts from their repertoire.

    Kurzfassung: Vor einem Elefantenzahnorchester mit Trommeln ahmt der Nachfahre eines Berufskriegers tanzend und singend verschiedene Kampfsituationen nach. Er wird von drei Frauen, einem Glockenläuter, einem Blattwedler und einem Bläser umtanzt. Von einer weiteren Frau verspottet, tanzt er lebhafter.
    Kurzfassung: For various activities, the Dan have groups of singers and musicians, whose playing is supposed to impart special qualities: strength for the bushclearers, majestic deportment for the chieftain, courage for the warrior. Here, an orchestra of seven elephant tusks and five drums incites the fighting-spirit of the village's greatest warrior, who, in dance form, demonstrates several battle situations.

    Kurzfassung: On market-days, the wrestling teams of several villages complete with each other. The wrestlers stand, bent over, head to head, legs spread back as far as possible. They try throw the opponent on his back by grasping his leg, or by pushing him sideways off balance. Each wrestler is accompanied by several seconds who try to defend him with magie and at the same time to harm the rival.

    Kurzfassung: Three small girls between four and six years old first perform acrobatic feats with their flexible bodies accompanied by two drums and one tinkle-instrument; afterwards, they will be whirled into the air by their "trainer", an athletic man, and wound around his body, like snakes. Such snake-girls are also found in other villages of the Dan and Gere (Kran) along the western Ivory-coast and in eastern Liberia.

    Kurzfassung: Im Dorf Zrazra mimen Krieger der Guro tanzend ihre Funktionen im Kampf: der Häuptling mit seinen drei Fetischen, sein ihn beschützender Bruder, der Wasserträger, der Kopfabschneider, der Kundschafter u. a. Mehrere der Tänzer tragen Gewehre. Drei Musikanten begleiten den Tanz, indem sie auf Hohleisen schlagen.
    Kurzfassung: Old and young Guro warriors do a mime dance of their duties during a fight: e. g. the "Fourrier" who offers palmwine to the thirsty warriors, and especially the great warrior of the village with his three fetishes. The fetishes make certain that his shot will be unfailing, and at the same time protect the warrior against any harm. Three iron bells are rung as an accompaniment.

    Kurzfassung: Frisch beschnittene Mädchen üben vor dem Beschneidungslager mit bändergeschmückten Stühlchen Tänze ein. Die Betreuerinnen und später auch die Mädchen singen im Chor. Sie werden von einem Trommler begleitet.
    Kurzfassung: When the girls of the Gere (Kran) enter the excision camp they borrow low chairs from their grandfathers, for after the operation they cannot sit down, but must kneel on these chairs. When they have recovered they create dances with the little chairs, to perform in their village on the day of their release.

    Kurzfassung: Von Trommlern begleitet tanzen abwechselnd und auch gemeinsam ein Burschenballett und mehrere Masken, die in teilweise parodierender Weise bekannte Personen und Tiere darstellen.
    Kurzfassung: The Gbagba is a dance for entertainment which is performed at festivities or for its own sake. It evolves around the figure of a bird - the Gbagba. Alternately a ballet of boys and single masks are dancing; the latter represent certain personalities and animals well known to all.

    Kurzfassung: Mitglieder der tibetischen Tanz- und Theatergruppe aus Ebnat-Kappel (Schweiz) führen in Rikon ein Theaterstück, das die Vorgänge bei der Hochzeit der Nangsa mit dem Prinzen Dokpa Samdup wiedergibt, vor der Kamera auf.
    Kurzfassung: Here we see several short theatralic scenes taken from the widespread cycle of life, death and reincarnation of Nangsa. The most important parts of the Tibetan wedding ritual are shown. Accompaniment is provided by an harmonica and a long-necked lute.
