    Kurzfassung: A focus on methods can currently be observed in all subfields of linguistics. Rarely, however, is a perspective taken that integrates these individual sub-areas. The book brings together the current discussion of methods and assembles contributions that move along the spectrum of ethnography, mixed methods, and digital humanities and are framed by method(olog)ic reflections that the contributors have undertaken together
    Kurzfassung: In allen Teilbereichen der Linguistik ist derzeit ein Fokus auf Methoden zu beobachten. Selten wird jedoch eine diese einzelnen Teilbereiche integrierende Perspektive auf Methoden und v.a. auch auf Methodologie eingenommen. Der Band unternimmt vor diesem Hintergrund den Versuch, die aktuellen Diskussionen um die Methodik der Linguistik, die sich aus den unterschiedlichen Methodeninnovationen der letzten Jahrzehnte ergaben, zu bündeln. Entwicklungen wie die verstärkte Software- und Datenorientierung, die methodische Vielfalt in Projektkooperationen oder der Trend zu ethnographischen Ansätzen werden in einer Reihe methodisch sehr unterschiedlicher Studien reflektiert. Sie haben jedoch alle gemein, dass sie auf ihre Weise traditionelle Grenzen linguistischer Methodik überschreiten; mögen diese intra- oder interdisziplinärer Natur sein. Rahmende Beiträge betten diese Studien in einen Diskussionszusammenhang ein, der für eine methodologische Reintegration der linguistischen Teildisziplinen plädiert. Insofern will der Band ein Anstoß sein. Einen ersten Versuch einer solchermaßen integrierenden Diskussion dokumentiert der Band mit Respondenzen auf dieses Plädoyer einerseits und andererseits mit zwölf zusammenführenden Thesen zur aktuellen Lage der linguistischen Methodendiskussion

Their chapters explore an acoustemology of intimacy, woman-centered eroticism generated through musical performance, desire and longing in ethnographic knowledge production, and listening as intimacy. On the other end of the spectrum, authors engage with and question the fetishization of race in jazz; examine conceptions of vulgarity and profanity in movement and dance-ethnography; and address pain, trauma, and violation, whether physical, spiritual, intellectual, or political. Authors in this volume strive toward empathetic, ethical, and creative ethnographic engagements that summon vulnerability and healing. They propose pathways to aesthetic, discursive transformation by reorienting conceptions of knowledge as emergent, performative, and sonically enabled.     Kurzfassung: In allen Teilbereichen der Linguistik ist derzeit ein Fokus auf Methoden zu beobachten. Selten wird jedoch eine diese einzelnen Teilbereiche integrierende Perspektive auf Methoden und v.a. auch auf Methodologie eingenommen. Der Band unternimmt vor diesem Hintergrund den Versuch, die aktuellen Diskussionen um die Methodik der Linguistik, die sich aus den unterschiedlichen Methodeninnovationen der letzten Jahrzehnte ergaben, zu bündeln. Entwicklungen wie die verstärkte Software- und Datenorientierung, die methodische Vielfalt in Projektkooperationen oder der Trend zu ethnographischen Ansätzen werden in einer Reihe methodisch sehr unterschiedlicher Studien reflektiert. Sie haben jedoch alle gemein, dass sie auf ihre Weise traditionelle Grenzen linguistischer Methodik überschreiten; mögen diese intra- oder interdisziplinärer Natur sein. Rahmende Beiträge betten diese Studien in einen Diskussionszusammenhang ein, der für eine methodologische Reintegration der linguistischen Teildisziplinen plädiert. Insofern will der Band ein Anstoß sein. Einen ersten Versuch einer solchermaßen integrierenden Diskussion dokumentiert der Band mit Respondenzen auf dieses Plädoyer einerseits und andererseits mit zwölf zusammenführenden Thesen zur aktuellen Lage der linguistischen Methodendiskussion. A focus on methods can currently be observed in all subfields of linguistics. Rarely, however, is a perspective taken that integrates these individual sub-areas.     Kurzfassung: "The chapters that make up this book recognize through examples from research, practice and evaluation of quality with lived experiences that diverse contemporary popular musics can provide useful tools not just for entertainment and fun, but for learning, growth and healing/wellness. Hip hop, techno, grime, drill and suchlike are contemporary genres that have been stigmatized through association with the BAME community. At the same time, however, these musics are typically the listening diet of choice today in our inner cities. These contemporary musics of the inner-city and their associated music-related activities (e.g., deejaying, beat making, mixtape making but also dance, visual art and more) are celebrated and embraced as extraordinarily powerful tools for building and maintaining academic, social, and emotional competencies. These musics are loved and they can open up opportunities for creativities among those who often feel seriously marginalized. In turn, these musics (and activities associated with them) can provided opportunities to engage and/or support those at the social and educational margins. In other words, the musics at the heart of this book have faced exclusionary pressures but they can also work for inclusion when utilized in educational/pedagogical or therapeutic practices. Independent women have always been a center around which social anxieties and excitement coalesced. Moving between the family home and domestic independence, between household and public labor, and between celibacy and a range of sexual relations, the single woman remains a literary and cultural focus, as she has been from the 19th to the 21st centuries. This collection offers readers the opportunity to uncover the social, political, economic, and cultural connections between the "singly blessed" women and "bachelor girls" of the 19th and early 20th century and "all the single ladies" of the 21st century. Essays read singleness across genre and field, offering new approaches to studying modern and contemporary single women in literature, film, and history. Authors engage scholarship from wide ranging fields of social history, women's studies, queer theory, and Black feminism.
