Note: Biographical note: Vera Ahamer (MMag. Dr. phil.) studierte Translationswissenschaft, Geschichte sowie Deutsch als Fremdsprache an der Universität Wien und ist Universitätslektorin in Nizhny Novgorod (Russland). Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Kommunaldolmetschen sowie Spracherwerb in der Migration. - Long description: Meist unsichtbar sind die Leistungen bilingual sozialisierter Jugendlicher, die zwischen ihren Eltern und Institutionen der »Aufnahmegesellschaft« dolmetschen. Aus dieser alltäglichen Praxis resultiert ein ganzes Spektrum an mitunter schwerwiegenden Problemen - aber auch an Potenzialen. In dieser im deutschsprachigen Raum bisher einmaligen größeren empirischen Untersuchung zum Thema setzt Vera Ahamer neue Impulse in Translationswissenschaft, Sprachwissenschaft, Soziologie, Pädagogik - v.a. aber auch im »Migrationsdiskurs« sowie in der Praxis für jene Menschen, die tagtäglich mit dieser Art des Dolmetschens zu tun haben.; Review quote: »Das Buch [...] stellt einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Diskurs über Mehrsprachigkeit und Laiendolmetschen dar.
