    Kurzfassung: Three members of the Gaine caste perform a narrative song accompanied by the violin sarangi. The melody is also played, with occasional slight variations, on one of the three violins, the two other musicians accompany it with pizzicato and col legno. A fourth Gaine improvises a solo dance composed of traditional stereotyped movements.

    Kurzfassung: Women and girls of Sara village are arranged in a semicircle on the dancingplace, clapping their hands and singing songs of praise. In front of the semicircle a couple take their place for dancing. The boy places himself by the right side of the girl, takes her arm and performs with her the figure of the "al beher"-dance, a combination of long and high leaps with "leapturn". The film only presents excerpts from the dance which, however, show the characteristic figure several times in detail.

    Kurzfassung: Auf einem Tanzplatz des Dorfes Sara wird von zwei jungen Männern eine Felltrommel geschlagen, Frauen singen Preislieder und tanzen in mehreren Reihen, nach ihrem sozialen Status angeordnet, um die Trommler herum. Später kommen junge Männer hinzu.
    Kurzfassung: On the dancing-place of Sara village the nugara, a cylindrical double skin drum, is beaten by two young men. One of the young men beats on nugara. To the rhythm of the drum the women sing songs of praise. The "am haraba"-dance is performed anti-clockwise around the drum. The women form into different lines according to their social status. They swing their arms and advance with small rhythmic steps, then they perform swaying movements, swinging their long plaits intensely. In the beginning only women dance, later on young men join in the dance. The young men are equipped with long millet stems in place of the lances borne by the men at this dance. The film only presents an excerpt from the "am haraba"-dance which however, comprehends all characteristic phases of the dance.

    Kurzfassung: Die Gruppe der Tänzer und die Trommler mit dem Chor der singenden und klatschenden Frauen stehen sich gegenüber. Beim Tanz bilden die Tänzer einen Kreis, schwingen ihre Turbantücher und zeigen eine Sequenz von Sprüngen.
    Kurzfassung: A large number of villagers have come together on one of the dancing-places of Djaya. In the centre of the dancing-place stand the dancers, about twenty boys, on the border, close together, the onlookers. On the otherside of the dancing-place are two drummers and the girl's chorus. The girls clap their hands and sing, in a chorus for one voice with a solo singer, songs in praise of prominent persons. For the "napa"-dance the dancers form into a circle which moves anti-clockwise. The figure of the dance consists of a sequence of steps combined with a waving of the long turban scarves. The girls' chorus has repeatedly difficulty in keeping time. Several women improvise spontaneous dance steps on the border of the dancing-place. It is evident that all the people are stimulated by the large quantity of beer they have drunk in the course of the day. The film presents only excerpts from the "napa"-dance.

    Kurzfassung: Women and girls are arranged in a semicircle on the dancing-place of Sara village. They clap out the rhythm of the "goshele"-dance and sing songs in praise of several rich and famous men of the country. A couple take their places for dancing, the two partners facing each other. For some measures the boy and the girl perform swaying movements on the spot, then both at a time perform a high leap and stamp their right or left foot on the ground. The high leap is performed three times, then the dancers pass with stamping steps by each other and each goes to the place previously occupied by his partner. This figure is always repeated, it is performed in the film by different male and female dancers. A particularly well performed figure is acclaimed by the women with quavering.

    Kurzfassung: The chief wife of Khlimba, the Haedman, takes her child, obviously suffering from whooping cough, to a lady witch doctor. After a short questioning the child is "therapized". The witch doctor scratches its skin and spreads "medicine" over it with a wisp of straw. Afterwards she performs two ritual dances with her assistant.

    Kurzfassung: LADUMA MADELA, the witch doctor, sits in front of a hut of his Kral and blows a bugle to call his assistant to him. The two men have a recitative conversation about the rain magic. In the next sequence a small child is diagnosed by MADELA with oracle bones and then treated by inhaling, stretching and symbolic striking with the frond. Previously the questionanswer dialogue about the entrance fee takes place between MADELA and the child's mother; the assistant takes the place of the child's father in this.

    Kurzfassung: Die tibetische Tanzgruppe aus Ebnat-Kappel (Schweiz) führt in Rikon Variationen eines Tanzliedes sowie einen pantomimischen Tiertanz vor der Kamera auf. Die Tänze werden von einer Bambusquerflöte, einer Langhalslaute, einer Trommel und von Becken begleitet.
    Kurzfassung: Presentation of a Tibetan dance-song, first by two women, accompanied by a bamboo flute and a long-necked lute, then by a lute-player who also dances. There follows an animal dance in pantomime, accompanied by a large drum with cymbals, and a behind-the-scences singer.

    Kurzfassung: Vor einem Elefantenzahnorchester mit Trommeln ahmt der Nachfahre eines Berufskriegers tanzend und singend verschiedene Kampfsituationen nach. Er wird von drei Frauen, einem Glockenläuter, einem Blattwedler und einem Bläser umtanzt. Von einer weiteren Frau verspottet, tanzt er lebhafter.
    Kurzfassung: For various activities, the Dan have groups of singers and musicians, whose playing is supposed to impart special qualities: strength for the bushclearers, majestic deportment for the chieftain, courage for the warrior. Here, an orchestra of seven elephant tusks and five drums incites the fighting-spirit of the village's greatest warrior, who, in dance form, demonstrates several battle situations.

When they have recovered they create dances with the little chairs, to perform in their village on the day of their release.

For at least three generations the mask has been in this village and in the same family as the "rough and tough" Djaka mask. In earlier times women were not allowed to see it. Due to modern development of the Ivory-coast, this is possible nowadays.

    Kurzfassung: The Gere (Kran) have male dancing masks and female singing masks. In contrast to the swift moving mask-dances of other tribes of the Ivory-coast, like the Baule or the Guro, the Gere mask dances are reticent. The costumes are impressive with puffy bast skirts and luxurious feather ornaments. The masks form a secret organization. They also practice jurisdiction, lead warriors into war and protect bush and river against abuse.

    Kurzfassung: Almost every village of the Baule cultivates an artistic speciality which is performed during festivities either in their own village or in other villages. To this category belong also acrobatic dances. Using difficult jumps, the young men dance, by turns, to the rhythms of three drums, one iron bell, one rattle-calabash and one "rub-rattle". Afterwards two solo-dancers appear.

    Kurzfassung: At the end of the Yams festival, which for the northern Dan separates the old year from the new year, the masks leave the bush and come down from the mountains to the village. They dance outside the village and then move over the country to greet the government officials. On the way each mask shows for our team typical parts from their repertoire.

Vorgänge auf einem Kinderspielplatz: Federballspiel, Wettlaufen, Steinspiel, begleitet von einer Laute und einer Querflöte. 2. Stöckchentanz: von französischen Kindern übernommen; Melodie und Text stammen aus Tibet.
    Kurzfassung: The film shows the performance of two Tibetan children's dances, one of which imitates occurrences in a children's playground, the other a game with small sticks, which the Tibetan children have adopted from French children and adapted with Tibetan vocal music and dance-steps. Musical accompaniment for both dances is provided by a long-necked lute and a flute.

    Kurzfassung: The Do mask together with another mask called Dje, are believed to be the most sacred beings of the Baule tribe. Women are not allowed to see this mask. Before the mask appears, two groups of young musicians each with a dancer complete with each other. Following this, the mask dances and receives the sacrifice of a fowl.

    Kurzfassung: Auftritt von drei Maskenpaaren mit ihren Beschützern. Die Masken werden von Sängern zum Tanz ermuntert. Das zweite Maskenpaar stellt Buschwesen dar, die feierlich begrüßt werden.
    Kurzfassung: The Goli is a mask performance of three or four different pairs of masks. The two masks of each pair try to surpass each other in dancing. The musicians accompany their songs with hot rhythms of the rattle-calabash. Although the young Baule learned the Goli from a neighbouring tribe, it became their most important mask performance.

    Kurzfassung: A singer of the Baule is accompanied by three musicians while accompanying himself with two harps, holding each on one knee. He sings proverbs and tropical songs. Such singers travel overland and are held in high esteem by the Baule.

    Kurzfassung: This singing mask with its beak-shaped nose, from which a black beard of monkey-hair hangs down, is found in other functions as well, e. g. with the Konor tribe as one of the highest ranking spirits in the boys's circumcision camp. In Maple village it is explained as a Tukan mask. The Tukan is the king of the birds and is supposed to have brought the oil-palm to the Dan. Therefore the Tukan is mentioned in the songs of the mask.

    Kurzfassung: Here we see several short theatralic scenes taken from the widespread cycle of life, death and reincarnation of Nangsa. The most important parts of the Tibetan wedding ritual are shown. Accompaniment is provided by an harmonica and a long-necked lute.
