    Abstract: Die Tanzlieder werden von in Nepal lebenden Tibetern ausgeführt. In den ersten beiden Teilen tanzt je ein Mann auf einem Holzbrett, das dem rhythmischen Stampfen eine besondere Wirkung gibt; die Musiker sind nicht zu sehen (Zupfsaiten- und Streichinstrument sowie Zimbeln). Im dritten Teil singt und tanzt eine Gruppe von Männern und Frauen, von einer Stieltrommel begleitet. (Vorführungen auf Bestellung.)
    Abstract: Tibetans living in Nepal perform three dancing songs. In the first two parts one man at a time performs a dance on a board, which emphasizes the effect of his rhythmical stamping. The musicians are not visible (plucked and stringed instruments, cymbals). In the third part a group of men and women sing and perform a dance, accompanied by a drum fixed to a handle. There is one part sung slowly and another sung more quickly.

    Abstract: Musiker in Katmandu spielen sitzend die Klappertrommeln. Das Instrument wird paarweise durch rhythmisches Drehen gespielt, wobei kleine Klöppel gegen die Trommelfelle schlagen. Durch Ziehen und Lockern der Spannschnüre wird die Tonhöhe während des Spielens variiert.
    Abstract: The rattle drums dabadaba are played in pairs. Through rhythmical rotation the small clapprs are beaten against the drum skin. The skins are tautened with cords. By tightening and loosening of these cords the pitch of each drum can be altered during playing.

    Abstract: Zwei Brüder aus Patan bearbeiten ein Ziegenfell, schneiden es zurecht und ziehen es auf den faßförmigen Korpus, der aus einem Stück Holz geschnitzt worden ist. Nach dem Auftragen der Stimmpaste werden die Felle durch Nachziehen der Spannriemen gestimmt. Anschließend wird das Instrument ausprobiert.
    Abstract: Skins and bracing cords of the small, barrel-shaped drum madal are cut out of a cleaned and dried goatskin and put on the body carved in one piece. Both skins are smeared with the black tuning-paste. The skins are tuned by bracing up the bracing cords. Finally the drum is beaten by the drum-maker, a member of the Kullu caste.

    Abstract: Three members of the Gaine caste perform a narrative song accompanied by the violin sarangi. The melody is also played, with occasional slight variations, on one of the three violins, the two other musicians accompany it with pizzicato and col legno. A fourth Gaine improvises a solo dance composed of traditional stereotyped movements.

    Abstract: The violin is roughly cut and carved out of a piece of timber, so that body, neck and peg-box are made in one piece. A skin is sticked in a wet condition on the lower rib and left to dry. The holes for inserting the pegs tightening the four strings into the peg-box as well as the hole for attaching the string to the bow are applied with a hot iron. The first string is put on the violin and tried with the bow.
