    Abstract: Die Teilnehmer des alle vier Jahre durchgeführten Mittwinterbrauches sammeln sich am 5. Januar in Badgastein zum Umzug. Der Perchtenzug hält vor den Häusern, die Perchten begrüßen die Bewohner durch einen Tanz und erweisen ihnen die Ehre durch eine Verneigung. Nach Segenswünschen des Perchtenhauptmannes zieht die Gruppe weiter. Am Umzug beteiligen sich außer der "schönen" Perchten auch Schreckgestalten, wie der maskierte und pelzbekleidete Klaubauf, aber auch sonstige Brauchsfiguren wie Bärenführer, Hanswurst, Habergeiß, Händler, Schleifersmann, Zapfmandel und andere. An zwei Tagen werden die Häuser der Ortschaften in der Gastein besucht. Am 6. Januar wird das Perchtenlaufen in Bad Hofgastein beendet.
    Abstract: The participants of this midwinter custom, which is carried out every four years, gather in Bad Gastein for the parade on 5 January. The Perchtenlauf procession stops in front of the houses, the Perchten greet the inhabitants with a dance and honour them by bowing. After the Perchten leader has given his good wishes, the group moves on. Other than the "beautiful" Perchten, dreadful figures, such as the "Klaubauf", who is masked and dressed in fur, but also other traditional figures such as the bear leader, "Hanswurst", "Habergeis", the trader, "Schleifersmann", barman, and others also participate in the procession. The houses of the towns in Gastein are visited for two days. The Perchenlauf activities ends in Bad Hofgastein on 6 January.

    Abstract: In einer Almhütte wird in einem Kessel über der offenen Feuerstelle Milch erhitzt und durch Zugabe von Lab und Kultur zum Gerinnen gebracht. Die so entstandene Käsemasse wird in eine Form gefüllt und etwa 24 Stunden gepreßt. Bevor der Käse in ein Salzbad gelegt wird, lagert er ca. 12 Stunden im Keller.
    Abstract: In an Alpine hut milk is heated in a kettle above an open fire and made to curdle by adding rennin and cultures. The cheese mass that is thus formed is filled into a mould and pressed for approximately 24 hours. Before the cheese is placed in a saline bath, it is stored for approximately 12 hours in a cellar.

    Abstract: Die Zeremonie (wörtlich übersetzt: 'Reis auf den Kopf legen') wird begangen, wenn jemand wieder in die Gemeinschaft aufgenommen wird. Frau Ginting wird nach einem Krankenhausaufenthalt von Angehörigen am Dorfende empfangen. Nach Segenswünschen werden sie und ihr Ehemann mit Goldschmuck und Zeremonialtüchern geschmückt. Begleitet von Gendang-Musik werden sie zum Haus der Familie geführt. Die Guro Sibaso locken die Lebenskraft (Tendi) zur Stärkung der Frau mit weißen Tüchern an. Auf dem Tanzplatz werden Adat-Tänze getanzt. Mit einem gemeinsamen Essen wird der zeremonielle Teil des Festes abgeschlossen.
    Abstract: The ceremony (literally translated: 'to put rice on the head') is performed at a person's returning to a community. Mrs. Ginting, returning from hospital, is received by her relatives on the border of the village. Blessings are pronounced and she and her husband are decorated with gold jewellery and ceremonial cloths. Accompanied by gendang music, they are conducted to the family's house. The guru sibaso attract with white cloths the vital power (tendi) to strengthen the woman. Adat dances are performed on the dancing-ground. A common meal concludes the ceremonial part of the feast.

    Abstract: Durch Anbau, Verarbeitung und Vermarktung von Kraut ist Vecsés landesweit als wohlhabendes Dorf bekannt. Der Film stellt die Frage der Identität der deutschen Bewohner des Dorfes. Hierbei werden verschiedene Lebenssituationen gezeigt: Verarbeitung von Kraut, Vermarktung in Budapest, Verarbeitung von Weintrauben für den Eigenbedarf, die LPG als Wirtschaftsfaktor und Kulturträger, Pflege der Tradition in der Tanzgruppe, Deutschunterricht in der Schule und eine deutsche Hochzeit. Durch Interviews wird das Bild abgerundet.
    Abstract: The planting, processing and marketing of cabbage has made the village Vecsés well-known as comfortably-off. The film frames the question as to the identity of the villagers - and includes various everyday situations: making sauerkraut, market day in Budapest, wine-making, the collective as the centre of economy and culture, traditional dances, German lessons at school and German weddings.     Abstract: Der vor zwei Jahren verstorbene Mann Hermanto Juris wird anläßlich eines Totenfestes (Tiwah), das 6 Tage lang andauert, endgültig verabschiedet und in das Totenreich geleitet. Die vom Gewohnheitsrecht (Adat) verbindlich vorgeschriebene Zeremonie wird von 6 Priesterinnen (Wadian) durchgeführt. Am Fest beteiligen sich außer der Familie auch die weitere Verwandtschaft, die Freunde und Bekannte.
    Abstract: A death feast is held in Dorong village. The corpse had been buried two years before, hair and nails of the deceased, called rapu, had been placed separately on top of the coffin. This rapu is now dug up, since the family finally have the means to arrange the feast. In the course of the feast the priestesses of the village, wadiam, communicate with the soul of the deceased until now in a transitional realm. Only after the tiwah is performed does the soul leave for the country of the dead, to join the ancestors and remain there definitely. During the tiwah the rapu is kept in the house of the dead man's daughter. Ritual cock-fights, offerings of pigs and chickens accompany the tiwah. The tiwah is performed according to the adat of the Kaharingan religion.

    Abstract: Nagybörzsöny/Deutschpilsen liegt nördlich von Budapest und gilt als deutsche Siedlung. Deutsche Bergleute bauten hier seit dem 13. Jh. Gold und Silber ab. Nach Aufgabe des Bergbaus im 18. Jh. und Zerfall der Weinbaukultur im 19. Jh. geriet das Dorf in wirtschaftliche Isolation. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ging der Gebrauch der deutschen Sprache stark zurück. Der Film zeigt Bauten der früheren Weinbaukultur, die Kirchen, die zwei Heimatmuseen, eine Köhlerei im Walde und führt durch Gespräche und Erinnerungen zum Sprachgebrauch und zur Problematik der deutschen Muttersprache. Organisierte Pflege der Tradition wird in Szenen über eine Probe des Frauenchores und der deutschen Tanzgruppe vorgestellt.
    Abstract: Nagybörzsöny/German Pilsen is located the north of Budapest and is considered to be a German settlement. German miners have mined gold and silver there since the 13th century. After mining was abandoned in the 18th century and decline of viniculture in the 19th century, the village fell into economic isolation. After World War II the use of the German language declined. The film shows buildings from the former wine-growing culture, the churches, the two local history museums, a charcoal plant in the forest, and then proceeds to language use and to the problems of the German mother tongue via discussions and reminiscences. Organised cultivation of this tradition is presented in scenes on a rehearsal of the women's choir and of the German dance group.
