Die gesungenen Partien des fünfteiligen Rituals (Segnung des Platzes, Einladung an das "Dreifache Juwel", Reinigungsopfer, Siebenopfer, gemeinsames Gebet) werden von Becken, Trommeln, Zimbeln und Handglocken begleitet.
    Abstract: The film shows the complete consecration ceremony of the Tibetan Monastic Institute Rikon by monks of the Gelugpa sect, conducted by the two spiritual teachers of the Dalai Lama, LING RINPOCHE and TRIJANG RINPOCHE. The sung parts of the liturgy are accompanied by cymbals, drum, timbals and handbells.

    Abstract: The film shows the common confessional of monks of the Gelugpa sect on the occasion of the Tibetan Monastic Institute in Rikon being consecrated. The ceremony is conducted by LING RINPOCHE in the presence of TRIJANG RINPOCHE, the two spiritual teachers of the Dalai Lama, through whom the documentary takes on historical significance.

    Abstract: The Zauli is a festive dance of masks during which ten or more masks appear one after the other. They demonstrate the Guro's great skill in dancing by their playing together with the rhythms of a drum ensemble. With the white flybrushes which the dancer holds in either hand he demonstrates to the drummers the way in which he intends to dance. The masks are of a modern style, vividly coloured, and with little figures carved on top.

    Abstract: The Gere (Kran) have male dancing masks and female singing masks. In contrast to the swift moving mask-dances of other tribes of the Ivory-coast, like the Baule or the Guro, the Gere mask dances are reticent. The costumes are impressive with puffy bast skirts and luxurious feather ornaments. The masks form a secret organization. They also practice jurisdiction, lead warriors into war and protect bush and river against abuse.

    Abstract: The film shows the performance of two Tibetan children's dances, one of which imitates occurrences in a children's playground, the other a game with small sticks, which the Tibetan children have adopted from French children and adapted with Tibetan vocal music and dance-steps. Musical accompaniment for both dances is provided by a long-necked lute and a flute.

    Abstract: For various activities, the Dan have groups of singers and musicians, whose playing is supposed to impart special qualities: strength for the bushclearers, majestic deportment for the chieftain, courage for the warrior. Here, an orchestra of seven elephant tusks and five drums incites the fighting-spirit of the village's greatest warrior, who, in dance form, demonstrates several battle situations.

    Abstract: Mit einem Stöckchen schlägt der Spieler die Bogensaite des Musikbogens vor dem Mund an, während er mit einem zweiten Stöckchen die Länge des schwingenden Teils der Saite verändert und so zwei verschiedene Grundtöne hervorruft. Die Tonfolgen beinhalten Sätze der Baule-Sprache, zumeist Sprichwörter.
    Abstract: The Baule, relatives of the Ashanti of Ghana, play the musical bow as many other African tribes do. The string of the bow is struck with one small stick in front of the mouth of the player while with a second small stick the length of the string is changed in order to create two different key notes. The musical bow is player for the pleasure of the musician only, since the slight overtones can not be heard by the bystanders. Only the sound-film makes it possible to hear how the player uses his mouth as a sounding board. The succession of notes means, sentences of the language of the Baule, most of them being proverbs.

    Abstract: The Baule are acquainted with different games in which they throw several balls up like jugglers or whirl them around fixed at the end of two strings. The balls bounce against each other rhythmically. Sometimes they accompany their songs with a spatula, rubbed rhythmically, and this sound is reinforced by a nut shell or a bowl.

    Abstract: Im Dorf Zrazra mimen Krieger der Guro tanzend ihre Funktionen im Kampf: der Häuptling mit seinen drei Fetischen, sein ihn beschützender Bruder, der Wasserträger, der Kopfabschneider, der Kundschafter u. a. Mehrere der Tänzer tragen Gewehre. Drei Musikanten begleiten den Tanz, indem sie auf Hohleisen schlagen.
    Abstract: Old and young Guro warriors do a mime dance of their duties during a fight: e. g. the "Fourrier" who offers palmwine to the thirsty warriors, and especially the great warrior of the village with his three fetishes. The fetishes make certain that his shot will be unfailing, and at the same time protect the warrior against any harm. Three iron bells are rung as an accompaniment.

    Abstract: This singing mask with its beak-shaped nose, from which a black beard of monkey-hair hangs down, is found in other functions as well, e. g. with the Konor tribe as one of the highest ranking spirits in the boys's circumcision camp. In Maple village it is explained as a Tukan mask. The Tukan is the king of the birds and is supposed to have brought the oil-palm to the Dan. Therefore the Tukan is mentioned in the songs of the mask.

    Abstract: At the end of the Yams festival, which for the northern Dan separates the old year from the new year, the masks leave the bush and come down from the mountains to the village. They dance outside the village and then move over the country to greet the government officials. On the way each mask shows for our team typical parts from their repertoire.

    Abstract: In a small town of the Baule three young musicians of the Senufo tribe meet - they have come as workman: two xylophone-players and one drum-player. As with the speakingdrum, each melody line of their play means something in their language, usually proverbs. They play for dancing, but also for musical enjoyment only.

Before the mask appears, two groups of young musicians each with a dancer complete with each other. Following this, the mask dances and receives the sacrifice of a fowl.

    Abstract: Three small girls between four and six years old first perform acrobatic feats with their flexible bodies accompanied by two drums and one tinkle-instrument; afterwards, they will be whirled into the air by their "trainer", an athletic man, and wound around his body, like snakes. Such snake-girls are also found in other villages of the Dan and Gere (Kran) along the western Ivory-coast and in eastern Liberia.

    Abstract: The Goli is a mask performance of three or four different pairs of masks. The two masks of each pair try to surpass each other in dancing. The musicians accompany their songs with hot rhythms of the rattle-calabash. Although the young Baule learned the Goli from a neighbouring tribe, it became their most important mask performance.

They try throw the opponent on his back by grasping his leg, or by pushing him sideways off balance. Each wrestler is accompanied by several seconds who try to defend him with magie and at the same time to harm the rival.

To this category belong also acrobatic dances. Using difficult jumps, the young men dance, by turns, to the rhythms of three drums, one iron bell, one rattle-calabash and one "rub-rattle". Afterwards two solo-dancers appear.
