    Abstract: Obwohl es ein weitverbreitetes Bewusstsein dafür gibt, dass Zeit(politik) ein expliziter Bestandteil städtischer Politik sein sollte, ist die Implementierung in die Praxis – trotz aller impliziten Bedeutung von zeitrelevanten Politiken – noch nicht sehr weit entwickelt. Das Thema "Raumzeitpolitik" wurde bereits vor einigen Jahren in seinen vielfältigen Dimensionen beleuchtet. Dennoch erwies es sich aktuell erneut als sinnvoll und notwendig, vor allem vor dem Hintergrund der zunehmenden Debatten um Gerechtigkeit in der Stadt (soziale Gerechtigkeit, Raumgerechtigkeit, Umweltgerechtigkeit, Recht auf Stadt), auch die Zeitgerechtigkeit in den Fokus eines Arbeitskreises zu stellen. Der vorliegende Sammelband behandelt dieses wichtige Thema in jeweils mehreren spezifischen Beiträgen aus vier zentralen Perspektiven: Normative Überlegungen zu Zeit, Raum und Planung; Rhythmus und Takt als Strukturmuster urbanen Lebens; Zeit-Räume in der Stadt; Lebenszeit und Zeiterleben in der Stadt. Der Schlussbeitrag stellt die Verbindung zwischen den verschiedenen Perspektiven her, arbeitet die Komplementaritäten und Widersprüche heraus und entwickelt eine Forschungs- und Handlungsagenda. Diese beansprucht nicht, die Probleme vollständig zu lösen, leistet aber doch einen Beitrag zur bewussteren Planung in Bezug auf Zeit und damit zur Verbesserung der Lebensqualität in den Städten.
    Abstract: Although there is widespread recognition that time (policy) should be an explicit element of urban policy, practice in this respect is not yet particularly developed – despite all the implicit significance of temporally relevant policies. The topic "space-time policy" was discussed in its manifold dimensions already few years ago. Nevertheless, it has again proved to be useful and necessary to make temporal justice the focus of a working party, especially in the context of increased debates on urban justice (social justice, spatial justice, environmental justice, the right to the city). This volume presents a number of specific papers that tackle this important theme from four perspectives: Normative considerations on time, space and planning; Rhythm and beat as a structuring pattern of urban life; Time-spaces in the city; Lifetime and temporal experience in the city The final paper presents the link between these perspectives, identifies complementarities and contradictions, and develops an agenda for research and action. This agenda does not claim to solve the problems completely, but aims rather to encourage an increased awareness of time in planning and thus to contribute towards improving quality of life in cities.

    Abstract: For a decade now, borders in Europe have been back on the political agenda. Border research has responded and is breaking new ground in thinking about and exploring borders. This book follows this development and strengthens a perspective that is interested in life realities and that focuses on everyday cultural experiences of borders. The authors reconstruct such experiences in the context of different forms of migration and mobility as well as language contact situations and are sensitive to the freedom of the participants. In this way, they empirically identify everyday cultural usage or appropriation strategies of borders as vastly different experiences of borders. The readers of this volume will gain insights into current developments in border research and liefe realities in Europe where borders are (made) relevant. Das Buch folgt dieser Entwicklung und macht eine Perspektive stark, die sich für Lebenswirklichkeiten interessiert und die alltagskulturelle Erfahrung der Grenze in den Blick rückt.     Abstract: Climate change is a profoundly social and political challenge with many social justice concerns around every corner. A global issue, climate change threatens the well-being, livelihood, and survival of people in communities worldwide. Often, those who have contributed least to climate change are the most likely to suffer from its negative consequences and are often excluded from the policy discussions and decisions that affect their lives. This text pays particular attention to the social dimensions of climate change. It examines closely people's lived experience, climate-related injustice and inequity, why some groups are more vulnerable than others, and what can be done about it - especially through greater community inclusion in policy change.

    Abstract: Chemnitz im Herbst 2018: Proteste, aufgebrachte Bürger_innen und eine Stadt in Aufruhr. Die Beiträge des Bandes setzen sich kritisch mit einem spezifischen Phänomen auseinander, das den Ereignissen in der sächsischen Stadt zugrunde lag: ein Rassismus, der sich im Alltäglichen zeigt, in unangemessenen Bemerkungen, in Bildern und Diskursen, in sozialen Praktiken und Ausschlussmechanismen, in Gewalt und auch in Versuchen, ihn selbst zu leugnen. Aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven werden die Mobilisierung rechter Szenen, antisemitischer Einstellungen, Hass und Radikalisierung in sozialen Medien sowie die Erfahrungen von Betroffenen analysiert. Damit werden Einblicke in die aktuelle Forschung ermöglicht, die auch engagierte Bürger_innen adressiert.

    Abstract: Abseits der Brisanz des aktuellen Migrationsdiskurses beleuchtet Anne Thietz die Funktion von Sprache in Identitätskonstruktionen am Beispiel der sprachlich unauffälligen Hugenottennachfahren. Fluchtgeschichte, Konfession und das Französische sollen in den 300 Jahren seit Einwanderung zur Bildung einer Gruppenidentität beigetragen haben. Anne Thietz zeigt mit Fokus auf Sprachbiographien, welche Elemente hugenottisches Sein heute bestimmen. Auch als Plädoyer für den Erhalt der umstrittenen Begriffe Identität und Sprachidentität werden diese schließlich durch die interdisziplinäre Verbindung von Forschungstheorie und -methode neu modelliert und für empirische Untersuchungen anschlussfähig gemacht.

    Abstract: Migrationsbewegungen sind für Deutschland schon lange bedeutsam und stehen nicht zuletzt durch die aktuellen Flüchtlingsbewegungen im Zentrum des öffentlichen Interesses. Daher ist Migration auch ein wichtiges Thema im Geographieunterricht. Darüber hinaus beeinflusst Migration in starkem Maße die Lernvoraussetzungen der SchülerInnen: Fast ein Drittel der Kinder und Jugendlichen in Deutschland haben einen Migrationshintergrund. Es müssen daher geeignete geographiedidaktische Ansätze entwickelt werden, um die unterschiedlichen Migrationserfahrungen der SchülerInnen im Unterricht berücksichtigen zu können und um der sprachlichen Heterogenität gerecht zu werden.

    Abstract: Die naturwissenschaftlich erzeugte, soziologisch reflektierte und gesellschaftspolitisch wirksame Vorstellung vom »Anthropozän« ist mit einem Weltbild verbunden, das auf einem dreifachen Paradigmenwechsel beruht: Erstens gilt die Erde nicht länger als selbstverständliche Gegebenheit, sondern als gefährdet. Zweitens rückt der Mensch (erneut) ins Zentrum der Welt, denn er erscheint als maßgeblicher Faktor bei der irreversiblen Veränderung und Zerstörung des Planeten. Und drittens wird die Grenze zwischen Gesellschaft und biophysischer Umwelt unscharf, weil die Hybridisierung der Pole in den Fokus gerät. Die Beiträger_innen dieses Bandes fragen daher nach den wissenschaftlichen Herausforderungen, politischen Kämpfen und sozialen Effekten, die mit dem postulierten Eintritt in das Zeitalter des Anthropozäns einhergehen.

    Abstract: It is not lost on commercial organisations that where we live colours how we view ourselves and others. That is why so many now place us into social groups on the basis of the type of postcode in which we live. Social scientists call this practice "commercial sociology". Richard Webber originated Acorn and Mosaic, the two most successful geodemographic classifications. Roger Burrows is a critical interdisciplinary social scientist. Together they chart the origins of this practice and explain the challenges it poses to a long-established social scientific beliefs such as: • the role of the questionnaire in an era of "big data" • the primacy of theory • the relationship between qualitative and quantitative modes of understanding • the relevance of visual clues to lay understanding. To help readers evaluate the validity of this form of classification, the book assesses how well geodemographic categories track the emergence of new types of residential neighbourhood and subject a number of key contemporary issues to geodemographic modes of analysis.

    Abstract: The Anthropocene, a term launched into public debate by Nobel Prize winner Paul Crutzen, has been used informally to describe the time period during which human actions have had a drastic effect on the Earth and its ecosystems. This book presents evidence for defining the Anthropocene as a geological epoch, written by the high-profile international team analysing its potential addition to the geological time scale. The evidence ranges from chemical signals arising from pollution, to landscape changes associated with urbanisation, and biological changes associated with species invasion and extinctions. Global environmental change is placed within the context of planetary processes and deep geological time, allowing the reader to appreciate the scale of human-driven change and compare the global transition taking place today with major transitions in Earth history.     Abstract: Biographical note: Tilman Santarius leitet die Forschungsgruppe »Digitalisierung und sozial-ökologische Transformation« an der TU Berlin und dem Institut für ökologische Wirtschaftsforschung. Er ist Ko-Autor mehrerer Bücher, zuletzt von »Der Rebound-Effekt«. Steffen Lange ist Ökonom am Institut für ökologische Wirtschaftsforschung und Mitglied beim Konzeptwerk Neue Ökonomie sowie bei Common Future. Er beschäftigt sich mit dem Zusammenhang zwischen Digitalisierung, Wachstum und Ökologie.

    Abstract: Trans-afrohispanismos: puentes culturales críticos entre África, Latinoamérica y España is an innovative approach to Afro-Hispanic Studies. It focuses on the connections between peoples, territories, and media of expression at the confluence of Africa and the Hispanic world. The volume’s contributors apply perspectives from their respective areas of specialization to their examination of transcultural interactions in a diverse range of contexts. These include Equatorial Guinea, Western Sahara, Spain, Morocco, Afro-descendant communities in Latin America and transnational spaces generated by digital technologies and contemporary migration. The volume offers an expanded understanding of Afro-Hispanic Studies and serves as a model of inquiry in a field whose hallmark is the mobility of people and knowledge. Trans-afrohispanismos: puentes culturales críticos entre África, Latinoamérica y España es una aproximación innovadora a los Estudios Afrohispánicos. Destaca las conexiones entre gentes, territorios y medios de expresión en la confluencia de África y el mundo hispánico. Estos incluyen Guinea Ecuatorial, el Sáhara Occidental, España, Marruecos, comunidades de afrodescendientes en América Latina y los espacios transnacionales originados por las tecnologías digitales y la migración. Este libro ofrece una visión más amplia de los Estudios Afrohispánicos. Adicionalmente, sirve de modelo de investigación en un campo cuya seña de identidad es la movilidad de gentes y conocimientos.
