    Abstract: "This book forwards Assam (and Northeast India) as a specific location for studying operations of gendered power in multi-ethnic, conflict-habituated geopolitical peripheries globally. In the shifting and relational margins of such peripheral societies, power and agency are constantly negotiated and in flux. Notions of masculinity are redefined in an interlaced environment of militarization, hyper-masculinization, and gendered violence. These interconnections inform victimhood and agency among the most vulnerable marginalized constituencies - namely, women and migrants. By centering the marginalized in its inquiry, the book analyzes obstacles to achieving positive, organic peace based on cooperation and mutual healing. The tools used to perpetuate an endless cycle of violence that makes conflict a habit - a way of life - are identified in order to enable resistance against them from within the margins. Such resistance must be based on reflexivity and strategic, cautious radicalism. This involves critically interrogating the inherent connections between engendered pasts and feminist futures, local changes and global contexts, as well as between small, incremental changes and big shifts impacting entire societies, nations, and global orders.     Abstract: This volume brings together scholars working in diverse traditions of the humanities in order to offer a comprehensive analysis of the environmental catastrophe as the modern-day apocalypse. Drawing on philosophy, theology, history, literature, art history, psychoanalysis, as well as queer and decolonial theories, the authors included in this book expound the meaning of the climate apocalypse, reveal its presence in our everyday experiences, and examine its impact on our intellectual, imaginative, and moral practices. Importantly, the chapters show that eco-apocalypticism can inform progressively transformative discourses about climate change. In so doing, they demonstrate the fruitfulness of understanding the environmental catastrophe from within an apocalyptic framework, carving a much-needed path between two unsatisfactory approaches to the climate disaster: firstly, the conservative impulse to preserve the status quo responsible for today's crisis, and secondly, the reckless acceptance of the destructive effects of climate change. This book will be an invaluable resource for students and scholars interested in the contributions of both apocalypticism and the humanities to contemporary ecological debates

    Abstract: "Superdiversity explores processes of diversification and the complex, emergent social configurations that now supersede prior forms of diversity in societies around the world. Migration plays a key role in these processes, bringing changes not just in social, cultural, religious and linguistic phenomena, but also in the ways that these phenomena combine with others like gender, age and legal status. The concept of superdiversity has been adopted by scholars across the social sciences in order to address a variety of forms, modes and outcomes of diversification. Central to this field is the relationship between social categorization and social organization, including stratification and inequality. Increasingly complex categories of social "difference" have significant impacts across scales, from entire societies to individual identities. While diversification is often met with simplifying stereotypes, threat narratives, and expressions of antagonism, superdiversity encourages a perspective on difference as comprising multiple social processes, flexible collective meanings, and overlapping personal and group identities. A superdiversity approach encourages the re-evaluation and recognition of social categories as multidimensional, unfixed and porous as opposed to views based on hardened, one-dimensional thinking about groups. Diversification and increasing social complexity are bound to continue, if not intensify, in light of climate change. This will have profound impacts on the nature of global migration, social relations and inequalities. Superdiversity presents a convincing case for recognizing new social formations created by changing migration patterns and calls for a re-thinking of public policy and social scientific approaches to social difference. This introduction to the multidisciplinary concept of superdiversity will be of considerable interest to students and researchers in a range of fields in the humanities and social sciences"--

    Abstract: Ansprüche auf Bürgerschaft steigen unter Bewohner:innen informeller Siedlungen Nairobis. Basierend auf Umfragedaten sowie Fokusgruppendiskussionen wird in diesem Buch gezeigt, dass Erwartungen auf den Zugang zu urbaner Bürgerschaft trotz der wiederholt erfahrenen Frustration eben dieser Erwartungen steigen, obwohl soziales Vertrauen in informellen Siedlungen gering bleibt und obwohl unter Bewohner:innen informeller Siedlungen meist keine starke Bindung an die Stadt empfunden wird. Es kann damit erstmals gezeigt werden, dass unter Menschen in Kenias urbaner Informalität nicht nur Erwartungen, sondern Ansprüche auf Zugang zu Bürgerschaft zunehmen. Urbane Informalität in Kenia prägt damit Bürgerschaft auf spezifische Art und Weise.
    Abstract: Access to the social and political means of citizenship is a distinct expectation of those living and working in Nairobi’s urban informality. In an empirical analysis based on original survey data comparing rural and urban Kenya and focus-group discussions in informal settlements of Nairobi, this book shows that expectations of accessing public goods were high when people first arrived in the city and rose over time among dwellers in Nairobi’s urban informality, despite previous repeated frustrations of such expectations as well as strong attachments to rural areas. The book demonstrates that urban informality distinctly shapes citizenship.

    Abstract: "Addressing fans' digital practices, this book places fans' play at the centre of a networked mainstream culture that seems to increasingly cater to, amalgamate with, and adapt to fans' mediatized play. The chapters in the book offer insights into fans skilled at establishing and maintaining play moods through specific play modes. Through case studies of the fan communities of the Hamilton Musical, and Norwegian streaming hit SKAM, along with examples from many other online fan communities, the book dives into how fans navigate and create play rules as part of their community building in a networked digital landscape and how they use the digital affordances of social media to engage in language play. It analyses the role of mediatized fan play in the context of political culture and identifies processes of fanization as fans' play moods and modes are integrated into politics. Finally, the book discusses the role of fan play in the context of the global conspiracy theory, Q-Anon, as those instigating the conspiracy and those who are fans of the movement engage in dark play and deep play, respectively.     Abstract: Der Sonderband beleuchtet den Zusammenhang von Migration und Demokratie aus konzeptuellen und empirischen Perspektiven, um die Herausforderungen und Chancen der zunehmenden Politisierung des Themenfeldes umfassend einordnen und bewerten zu können. Im ersten Teil werden die strukturellen Spannungen demokratischer Gesellschaften hinsichtlich ihrer inneren und äußeren Grenzziehungen ausgeleuchtet. Im zweiten Teil stehen aktuelle politische Debatten und ihre Bedeutung für ein demokratisches, postmigrantisches Zusammenleben im Zentrum. Die Beiträge im dritten Teil fokussieren auf Dynamiken der Infragestellung von Ausschlüssen und untersuchen, inwiefern Konflikte um Migration und insbesondere Praktiken migrantisierter Akteurinnen und Akteure zur Demokratisierung der Demokratie beitragen können.

    Abstract: Der Sammelband stellt die Frage nach den Erscheinungsformen und Ausdrucksweisen des Antisemitismus in der Musik. Als „negative Leitidee der Moderne“ ist Antisemitismus in sämtlichen Musikrichtungen zu finden und wird auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen vermittelt: sei es durch Songtexte, Albumcover, Musikvideos, Bühnenauftritte, durch die Musikform bzw. des Stils an sich oder die ideologische und strukturelle Einbindung von Musiker:innen in die extrem rechte Szene bis hin zur Beeinflussung ganzer Musikszenen durch die antisemitische BDS-Kampagne. In den Aufsätzen geben die Autor:innen daher einen Überblick zu aktuellen Entwicklungen und liefern Analysen und Einschätzungen zu den mannigfaltigen antisemitischen Verstrickungen in der Musik. Mit Beiträgen von Lukas Geck, Maria Kanitz, Annica Peter, Jan Schäfer, Jakob Baier, Kai E.     Abstract: This anthology addresses the question of how anti-Semitism appears and is expressed in modern music. As a ‘negative guiding idea of modernity’, anti-Semitism can be found in all musical genres and is conveyed on different levels, be it through song lyrics, album covers, music videos, stage performances, through the musical form or style itself, or the ideological and structural integration of musicians into the extreme rightwing scene, all the way to the influence of entire music scenes through the anti-Semitic BDS campaign. In the essays in this book, the authors therefore give an overview of current develop-ments and provide analyses and assessments of the manifold anti-Semitic manifestations in music. With contributions by Lukas Geck, Maria Kanitz, Annica Peter, Jan Schäfer, Jakob Baier, Kai E.
