Abstract:
This book highlights the major dilemmas and delights that beset and beckon those who enter into the various domains in which psychologists and the media interact. Each author provides insight into the ways in which he thinks about the role of the media psychologist in today's world. The book is divided into two parts: One discusses interacting with the media, and the other focuses on the treatment of specific topics by the media. Several chapters include descriptions of practical aspects of interacting with the media: opportunities, challenges, difficulties, and recommendations. Although, the media focus in this book is on television programming, radio, newsprint, computers, and films are also included to provide a more rounded view. This book is intended for psychologists and mental health professionals. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
