Abstract:
Die Romaria zu Ehren des heiligen Bartholomäus, der als Helfer gegen die "Besessenheit" (Epilepsie, Furcht, Stottern) gilt, findet am 24. August statt. Inhalt dieses Festes sind die Opfergabe von schwarzen Hühnern und das sakrale Tauchen der Kinder im Meer.
Abstract:
Romaria is a religious festivity celebrated in honour of a saint or of a divine intercessor. Characteristic of romarias is a certain religious attitude, which finds expression in the connection of sacred and profane acts. Most of the romarias are held in summer; that of S. Bartolomew do Mar takes place on August 24th. The substance of this romaria is the offering of chickens in the church as well as the "holy dipping" into the sea. Today both concern but children and pass for a remedy for fear.
