    Abstract: In allen Teilbereichen der Linguistik ist derzeit ein Fokus auf Methoden zu beobachten. Selten wird jedoch eine diese einzelnen Teilbereiche integrierende Perspektive auf Methoden und v.a. auch auf Methodologie eingenommen. Der Band unternimmt vor diesem Hintergrund den Versuch, die aktuellen Diskussionen um die Methodik der Linguistik, die sich aus den unterschiedlichen Methodeninnovationen der letzten Jahrzehnte ergaben, zu bündeln. Entwicklungen wie die verstärkte Software- und Datenorientierung, die methodische Vielfalt in Projektkooperationen oder der Trend zu ethnographischen Ansätzen werden in einer Reihe methodisch sehr unterschiedlicher Studien reflektiert. Sie haben jedoch alle gemein, dass sie auf ihre Weise traditionelle Grenzen linguistischer Methodik überschreiten; mögen diese intra- oder interdisziplinärer Natur sein. Rahmende Beiträge betten diese Studien in einen Diskussionszusammenhang ein, der für eine methodologische Reintegration der linguistischen Teildisziplinen plädiert. Insofern will der Band ein Anstoß sein.     Abstract: Every culture knows the phenomenon of monsters, terrifying creatures that represent complete alterity and challenge every basic notion of self and identity within a cultural paradigm. In Latin and Greek culture, the monster was created as a marvel, appearing as something which, like transgression itself, did not belong to the assumed natural order of things. Therefore, it could only be created by a divinity responsible for its creation, composition, goals and stability, but it was triggered by some in- or non-human action performed by humans. The identification of something as monstrous denotes its place outside and beyond social norms and values. The monster-evoking transgression is most often indistinguishable from reactions to the experience of otherness, merging the limits of humanity with the limits of a given culture. The topic entails a large intersection among the cultural domains of law, literature, philosophy, anthropology, and technology. Monstrosity has indeed become a necessary condition of our existence in the 21st century: it serves as a representation of change itself. In the process of analysis there are three theoretical approaches: psychoanalytical, representational, ontological. The volume therefore aims at examining the concept of monstrosity from three main perspectives: technophobic, xenophobic, superdiversity. Today's globalized world is shaped in the unprecedented phenomenon of international migration. The resistance to this phenomenon causes the demonization of the Other, seen as the antagonist and the monster. The monster becomes therefore the ethnic Other, the alien. To reach this new perspective on monstrosity we must start by examining the many facets of monstrosity, also diachronically: from the philological origin of the term to the Roman and classical viewpoint, from the Renaissance medical perspective to the religious background, from the new filmic exploitations in the 20th and 21st centuries to the very recent ethnological and anthropological points of view, to the latest technological perspective , dealing with artificial intelligence

Als Ausgangspunkt dient die Adaption gestalttheoretischer Gesetze der visuellen Wahrnehmung im unmittelbaren Raum von Objektzuschreibungen und der Orientierung im mittelbaren Raum und damit in der aktuellen Umwelt.     Abstract: Das Buch geht empirisch der Frage nach, worin sich sprachstarke und sprachschwache Kinder beim Schreiben unterscheiden. Die Untersuchung erweitert den Fokus damit über das wissenschaftlich vertieft untersuchte Lernalter als ausschlaggebenden Faktor für die interindividuelle Variation hinaus auf die globale Sprachkompetenz. Vor dem Hintergrund eines dynamischen Sprachansatzes untersucht die Studie das Schreiben als sprachliches Handeln und legt als Untersuchungskorpus nicht nur die Kindertexte als Ergebnis des Schreibens, sondern auch den Schreibprozess sowie die metasprachliche Kompetenz der Kinder zugrunde. Bei der Datenerhebung und Auswertung kamen sowohl standardisierte Sprachstandsmessungen, Schreibanlässe für das freie Schreiben, psychologische Tests sowie Fragebögen zum Einsatz. Die Schreibprozesse wurden durch Keystroke Logging erhoben, wodurch sämtliche Revisionen sowie der zeitliche Verlauf des Schreibens auf dem PC aufgezeichnet wurden. Mit der Kombination der verschiedenen Verfahren zeigt die Studie damit auch methodisch neue Zugänge zur Erforschung der Schriftsprachkompetenz auf

    Abstract: "Cybermobbing ist ein spezifischer Typ digitaler Gewalt, der vor allem unter Kindern und Jugendlichen vorkommt und in den Fokus der breiten Öffentlichkeit geraten ist. Die Cybermobbing-Forschung ist geprägt von zahlreichen sozialpsychologischen und medienwissenschaftlichen Studien. Eine linguistische Beschäftigung mit konkretem Sprachmaterial stand jedoch bis heute aus. Im vorliegenden Buch wird anhand vieler authentischer Beispiele erörtert, wie sich Cybermobbing im Netz zeigt, in welchen Formvarianten es als kommunikatives Phänomen in Erscheinung tritt und wie die Spezifik der Online-Kommunikation in der virtuellen Welt Einfluss auf die spezifischen Prozesse dieser verbalen Gewalt nimmt. Umfangreiche Detailanalysen helfen, die Spezifik des Emotionspotenzials dieser Texte besser zu verstehen. Das Buch ist einerseits für die spezifische Medialität digitaler Kommunikation und somit die Medienlinguistik allgemein äusserst relevant, andererseits bildet es einen wichtigen Referenzpunkt für künftige Untersuchungen anderer Formen verbaler Gewalt in der digitalen Kommunikation wie auch in anderen Kommunikationsformen"--

    Abstract: "Literacy and Second Language Learning for the Linguistic Integration of Adult Migrants (LASLLIAM)" is a new reference guide of the Council of Europe. It was developed by a group of experts and the Council of Europe Education Department to support high-quality learning environments for non- and low-literate migrants. Language skills foster, among others, social inclusion, and access to education and employment. Within this context, non-literate or low-literate migrants have specific educational needs, as they must learn a second language while either learning to read and write for the first time or developing basic literacy competences in an alphabet or writing system sometimes different from the one they will have learned initially. When it comes to language or knowledge of society courses, these needs are rarely taken into consideration, and this group of migrants is rarely offered a sufficient number of hours to reach the language level required. This is why LASLLIAM has been conceived: it aims at supporting language educators, curriculum designers and language policymakers in their endeavour to design, implement, evaluate and improve curricula tailored toward the specific needs of the target learners.

    Abstract: "Aus sprachwissenschaftlicher Sicht liegt in der Untersuchung von massenmedialen TV-Formaten,die von Fernsehschaffenden und der Medienwissenschaft als Infotainment bezeichnet werden, eine Forschungslücke vor. Es ist bislang nichts darüber bekannt, wie die Interagierenden in solchen Sendungen situativ mit den massenmedialen Anforderungen von Informationsvermittlung und Entertainment umgehen. Die Untersuchung geht auf der Basis von 40 Stunden Sendematerial einer bekannten deutschen Kochsendung der Frage nach, mittels welcher verbalen sowie körperlich-visuellen Verfahren die Beteiligten die mediale Gattung situativ als Infotainment hervorbringen. Zu diesem Zweck wird rekonstruiert, wie die Interagierenden die für die Sendung konstitutiven Aktivitäten "Informieren", "Belehren" und "Bewerten" durchführen, um den Anforderungen der Gattung im Spannungsfeld von Informationsvermittlung und Entertainment zu begegnen. Die Untersuchung leistet so einen Beitrag zur multimodalen Fundierung einer linguistischen Analyse von konversationellen Aktivitäten und zeigt Perspektiven für eine Weiterentwicklung einer gesprächsanalytisch arbeitenden Medienlinguistik auf"--

Vorherrschende Interpretationen aktueller gesellschaftlicher Phänomene sowie etablierte Forschungsgegenstände werden dabei auf den Prüfstand gestellt, um vergeschlechtlichten Machtstrukturen auf die Spur zu kommen. So finden sich widerständige Maschen und machtvolle Muster in einem breiten Themenspektrum, das von der Betrachtung performativer Akte und diskursiver Strukturen bis hin zu medialen Aufbereitungen reicht. Einführende Kommentare von Nikita Dhawan, Antje Flüchter, Stephan Günzel, Sabine Hark und Helga Meise rahmen die Beiträge.
    Abstract: From the sports trend of parkour, via the Old Testament, up to the Berlin squatting scene - the different contributions to this volume take up the challenge of rethinking questions about the entanglement of space and gender. Predominant interpretations of current societal phenomena as well as established research topics are examined in order to trace gendered power structures. Thus, resistant moves/tricks (Maschen) and powerful games/acts (Muster) are found in a wide range of topics reaching from observations of performative acts and discourse structures all the way to medial treatments. Introductory comments by Nikita Dhawan, Antje Flüchter, Stephan Günzel, Sabine Hark, and Helga Meise frame the contributions.     Abstract: Iconicity in sign languages is usually considered a marginal linguistic phenomenon. Using the example of the German sign language (DGS), this book examines if this assumption is justified or merely attributable to the constraints of the auditory medium. The grammar and syntax of DGS suggest that iconicity is at least as important as arbitrariness, which is why the former should be reflected more strongly in linguistic theory.     Abstract: What does it mean to be authentic? How is authenticity indexed in contexts of language expression? Authenticity is considered a driving force of individuals’ behaviour and is evaluated according to cultural contexts and mediated by and expressed in language. This volume examines the meanings of linguistic authenticity and problematises the authentic speaker as reflecting a complex and dynamic deployment of sociolinguistic and pragmatic resources.     Abstract: The concept of authenticity has received some attention in recent academic discourse, yet it has often been left under-defined from a sociolinguistic perspective. This volume presents the contributions of a wide range of scholars who exchanged their views on the topic at a conference in Freiburg, Germany, in November 2011. The authors address three leading questions: What are the local meanings of authenticity embedded in large cultural and social structures? What is the meaning of linguistic authenticity in delocalised and/or deterritorialised settings? How is authenticity indexed in other contexts of language expression (e.g. in writing or in political discourse)? These questions are tackled by recognised experts in the fields of sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, and contact linguistics. While by no means exhaustive, the volume offers a large array of case studies that contribute significantly to our understanding of the meaning of authenticity in language production and perception.

Zentrale Themen einer solchen Linguistik sind die ästhetische Dimension des Verständigungsgeschehens, die Weiterentwicklung einer linguistischen Diversitätsforschung angesichts pluraler und heterogener Gesellschaften sowie die Untersuchung des komplexen Zusammenhangs von medienkulturellem Gedächtnis und Wissensvermittlung.
