Outre des informations sur les comptes des banques des pays membres de l'OCDE, elles comprennent des données sur le nombre de banques, leurs filiales et leur personnel, des informations structurelles sur l’ensemble du secteur financier et des ratios visant à faciliter l'analyse de la rentabilité des banques des pays de l'OCDE. Les notes méthodologiques par pays, incluses dans ce volume, ont été préparées afin de faciliter la compréhension et l'interprétation des statistiques ainsi que dans le but de fournir une description succincte des activités des banques dans chacun des pays.

    Abstract: Lorsque des immigrants arrivent dans un pays, ils sont confrontés à un marché du travail peu connu qui a ses propres exigences. Avoir une bonne maîtrise de la langue du pays hôte et une bonne connaissance des procédures de recherche d’emploi et du fonctionnement du marché du travail sont autant d’atouts qu’ils n’ont pas forcément. Les nouveaux immigrants ne sont pas les seuls à rencontrer ces difficultés, il en va de même pour leurs enfants même s’ils sont nés et ont été scolarisés dans le pays d’accueil. Cet ouvrage examine l’intégration sur le marché du travail des immigrés et de leurs enfants dans quatre pays de l’OCDE (Belgique, France, Pays-Bas et Portugal), et formule des recommandations propres à chacun de ces pays. Les pouvoirs publics se doivent de promouvoir l’enseignement des langues et la formation professionnelle, et d’encourager la diversité au travail. Pour leur part, les immigrés doivent accepter les exigences des employeurs des pays d’accueil. La viabilité des futures politiques migratoires et le recours accru à l’immigration dépendent en grande partie de l’aptitude des pays de l’OCDE et des immigrés à réaliser ces objectifs.

    Abstract: Le programme portugais de coopération pour le développement se caractérise par la place privilégiée qu'il accorde, dans ses activités bilatérales, aux pays lusophones d'Afrique. Cela reflète l'étroitesse de liens historiques, linguistiques et culturels, unissant le Portugal à ces pays, qui comptent actuellement parmi les pays les moins avancés. Depuis peu, le Portugal privilégie deux nouveaux axes de coopération pour le développement. Le développement du secteur privé, d'une part, s'appuie sur les réformes économiques opérées avec le soutien des institutions internationales et sur les instruments susceptibles de favoriser la participation du secteur privé portugais. Le renforcement des systèmes de gestion publique des pays lusophones d'Afrique, d'autre part, tout en mettant plus particulièrement l'accent sur les systèmes juridiques et judiciaires, s'étend également aux institutions parlementaires, aux systèmes électoraux, aux administrations locales et à la fourniture de conseils sur des questions d'ordre constitutionnel. Cet examen du programme portugais par le Comité d'aide au développement de l'OCDE (CAD) souligne que le Portugal pourrait jouer un rôle plus important encore, notamment en Angola et au Mozambique, où la fin des conflits appelle de toute urgence une action dans le domaine du développement. Il prend note de la création récente d'une Communauté des pays de langue portugaise (la CPLP), intégrant le Brésil, destinée à renforcer le dialogue et les efforts mutuels de développement. Au cours de l'année 1997, des examens de politique en matière de coopération pour le développement sont prévus pour la France, la Belgique, les Pays-Bas et le Royaume-Uni.

    Abstract: On a pottery wheel equipped with a star wheel, a woman is making different jugs with handles and spouts from a mixture of red and black clay, which she has prepared in a pit in front of her house. The fabrication of the jugs takes place on a drawn bottom using the spiral roll technique. The spouts are prepared by another woman.

Die Befeuerung erfolgt mit Ginsterreisig. Die heiße Schlacke und die Asche werden auf den Brennraum geschüttet. Brenndauer etwa 5 Stunden. Am nächsten Tag wird der Ofen ausgeräumt.
    Abstract: Approximately 500 different vessels are fired in a rented, rectangular kiln without a roof. Loading the oven is work for men. Firing is performed with broom twigs. The hot cinders and the ashes are poured into the firing chamber. Firing time, approximately 5 hours. The earthenware is removed from the kiln on the following day.

Zwei der Männer fischen mit langstieligen, breiten Holzharken Wasserpflanzen, der dritte stakt das Boot. Die Bootsladung wird am eigenen Kai abgeladen und mit einem Ochsenkarren auf die Felder gefahren, wo sie als Dünger Verwendung findet.
    Abstract: A peasant and fisherman goes with his sons in his shallow sailing boat to fish algae. Two of the men collect with long-handled, broad wooden rakes water plants, the third propels the boat with a pole. The boat is unloaded at the peasant's private pier, then the algae are transported by an ox-cart to the fields, where they are used as manure.

    Abstract: Das 16,5 m lange Boot wird von Ochsengespannen ins Wasser gezogen und von der Bootsmannschaft über die Brandung gerudert. Das Zugnetz, bestehend aus einem Endsack (88 m) mit der Öffnung in Zugrichtung, zwei Flügeln je 500 m lang und zwei Haltetauen je 2,5 km lang, wird in Halbkreisform ins Wasser gesenkt und anschließend von Ochsengespannen an beiden Enden der Haltetaue an Land gezogen. Dort werden die Fische aus dem Sack geholt und in Körbe gefüllt. An dieser Gemeinschaftsarbeit nehmen 60 Männer und Frauen an See und am Land teil.
    Abstract: Fishing with the large drag net is a collective work, carried out by 60 men and women at sea and ashore. The boat, 16.5 m long, is drawn into the water by oxen and then rowed across the surf by the crew. The drag net, consisting of a large bag (88 m) with an opening at the upper end, two wings each 500 m long and two ropes each 2.5 km long, is put down into the water in a demi-circle and then drawn ashore by oxen put to the two ropes. The fish are taken out of the bag and put in baskets.

    Abstract: Der vom Webstuhl heruntergenommene Stoff wird in eine außerhalb des Dorfes gelegene Walkemühle gebracht, dort in eine Holzmulde gelegt und von zwei durch eine Nockenwelle angetriebenen Holzhämmer geschlagen (gewalkt). Zwischendurch wird der Stoff mit heißem Wasser begossen. Nach dem Walken wird er zum Trocknen in die Sonne gelegt.
    Abstract: The fabric removed from the loom is taken to a fulling-mill outside the village. There it is placed into a wooden trough and beaten (fulled) by two mallets operated by cam shaft. Ocasionally hot water is sprinkled on the cloth. After fulling the cloth is left in the sun to dry.

Die zwei Dreschgruppen bestehen jeweils aus fünf Männern, die jeweils in zwei Reihen dicht hintereinander arbeiten. Gemeinsame Mahlzeit als Gegengabe für die Arbeit. Das Auffinden einer mit Stroh ausgestopften Schafhaut leitet eine zeremonielle Brauchhandlung ein: Trauerzugparodie, Verbrennen der Schafhaut, Tanz.
    Abstract: The sheaves spread out are treshed with flails. The threshers are working in teams of five persons arranged in two lines close to each other. The discovery of a stuffed sheepskin is the beginning of a ceremonial threshing custom. After nightfall the sheepskin is burnt in the open air.

Die fertigen Brote werden mit einem Strohwisch gesäubert und nach Hause getragen.

Außer den allgemein üblichen Bräuchen und Gelübden (Prozession mit Traggerüsten, Umkreisen der Kapelle zu Fuß, Opfergaben, Exvotos, Raketen, Feuerwerk usw.) findet hier zusätzlich noch ein Tanzwettstreit statt.
    Abstract: The romaria of S. Joao d'Arga takes place on August 29th. The patron saint is John the Baptiste. In addition to the widespread customs and vows (procession with the carrying of wooden frames, walking round the chapel, offerings, ex votos, rockets, firework, etc.) a dance contest here takes place, too.

Gefischt wird zu Fuß am Strand oder im Wasser mit einem Netzsack, der an einen Holzreifen mit Stiel angeknüpft ist (Frauen), sowie von Booten aus mit Rechen und Bootshaken (Männer). Der gesammelte Seetang wird entweder auf Tragen oder mit Ochsenkarren zum Trockenplatz geschafft.
    Abstract: The film shows the fishing of sea tang, carried on at low water, when the rocks stand up out of the water and boats and rafts may easily pass. The women fish on foot on the beach or in the water, the men from boats. The collected sea tang is carried to the drying-ground with hand-barrows or with ox-carts.

    Abstract: Die Romaria zu Ehren des heiligen Bartholomäus, der als Helfer gegen die "Besessenheit" (Epilepsie, Furcht, Stottern) gilt, findet am 24. August statt. Inhalt dieses Festes sind die Opfergabe von schwarzen Hühnern und das sakrale Tauchen der Kinder im Meer.
    Abstract: Romaria is a religious festivity celebrated in honour of a saint or of a divine intercessor. Characteristic of romarias is a certain religious attitude, which finds expression in the connection of sacred and profane acts. Most of the romarias are held in summer; that of S. Bartolomew do Mar takes place on August 24th. The substance of this romaria is the offering of chickens in the church as well as the "holy dipping" into the sea. Today both concern but children and pass for a remedy for fear.
