    Kurzfassung: Der 56jährige Reisbauer Umi Tupai sitzt auf der Plattform seines Hauses in Palangan und schnitzt aus einem weichen Holz (Palantan) eine kleine Hampatong-Figur. Die Figur weist die Zeichen einer Schwangerschaft auf. In den Händen hält sie ein Kästchen, in dem das Zubehör für das Betelkauen aufbewahrt wird. Der Schnitzer benötigt ca. 3 Stunden für die Arbeit. Er ist der einzige Mann im Dorf, der diese Kunst beherrscht.
    Kurzfassung: Seated on the platform of his house at Palangan, the 56-year-old rice-grower Umi Tupai carves a small hampatong figure in soft pelantan wood. The female figure shows the signs of pregnancy. In the hands she holds a small box containing the utensils for betel-chewing. It takes the carver three hours to achieve the figure. He is the only man in the village skilled in this art.

    Kurzfassung: Ein Haus in Talim wird vom Besitzer und seiner Frau abgerissen und in Gemeinschaftsarbeit wieder aufgebaut. Der Boden wird geebnet, die Hauspfosten werden von Männern in die Erde gerammt und mit Pflanzenfasern miteinander verbunden. Der Fußboden wird eingesetzt und verstärkt, das alte Dach aufgesetzt. Die Feuerstelle wird aus Lehm errichtet, die Fußbodenmatten werden eingelegt und die Wandbretter eingebunden.
    Kurzfassung: A house in Talim is torn down by the owner and his wife and rebuilt in co-operative effort. The ground is levelled, the main posts are rammed into the earth by the men and linked to one another with plant fibres. The floor is put in and reinforced; the old roof is put back on. The hearth is erected using clay; the floor mats are laid in position, and the wall boards are fastened in place.

    Kurzfassung: Im Dorf Dorong starb eine 80jährige Frau, die als Priesterin andere Frauen ausgebildet hat. Nach der Aufbahrung treffen Trauergäste ein. Frauen aus der Verwandtschaft halten Trauerwache und singen Klagelieder. Zwei Priesterinnen führen die Totenzeremonien durch. Am zweiten Tag wird die Tote in einen Einbaumsarg gelegt, der fest verschlossen wird. Am dritten Tag wird sie auf dem Friedhof beerdigt.
    Kurzfassung: In Dorong village, near Tamiang, an eighty-year-old woman has died. She was a priestess (wadian), responsible also for the training of other women. The film presents the exposure of the corpse, the arrival of the mourners, and the ceremonies connected with this event. The ceremonies are performed by two priestesses, one having the function of a teacher. The second day the corpse is laid in the coffin, the third day the burial takes place in the cemetery.

    Kurzfassung: Drei Männer der Handwerkerfamilie Pantelakis aus Pyrgos demonstrieren an einer Hauswand die Technik der Kratzputzmalerei (Xista). Weiße Kalkfarbe wird auf den noch feuchten Putz aufgetragen und gleichmäßig verstrichen. Bevor Farbe und Putz trocknen, wird mit Hilfe von Gabeln und Nägeln durch die Kalkschicht hindurch die Oberfläche des Putzes an vorgezeichneten Stellen abgekratzt. Zurück bleibt eine schwarzweiß ornamentierte Fläche.
    Kurzfassung: Three men from Pyrgos, members of the Pantelakis craftsmen family, demonstrate the technique of sgraffito (Xista) on the wall of a house. Whitewash is spread on the moist plaster and brushed evenly over the surface. Before whitewash and plaster dry, the plaster surface, with forks and nails, is scratched through the whitewash in marked places. The result is a black and white ornament on the wall.

Amongst others they describe the appearance of ghosts to their companions, who in turn comment on it.

    Kurzfassung: A group of men shows a co-operative dance-play. They stand in a queue one behind the other stamping and panting a rhythm. Two men in front of this row act out to this rhythm a number of figures which imitate amongst others the sexual behavior of antelopes. Finally one of the dancers jumps over the other and returns to the queue and another one replaces him. The one that did not jump may stay or be replaced.

    Kurzfassung: Zwei Zauberheiler pflanzen pantomimisch einem Dritten Geister ein, den sie im Drogenrausch umtanzen. Anschließend erfolgt eine Krankenheilung und ein Probe-Hekuramou.
    Kurzfassung: Two men, Yoresiyawe the highest-ranking healer (sapori) and Kasiwe implant spirits into a man named Uraewe, who is already healer, but who wants to achieve perfection. The healers approach Uraewe dancing and singing, carrying the spirits with them and implanting them with pantomimic gestures. After this a man from another village, Kosisiwe, who is aspirant healer, undergoes a similar treatment and instruction. This time Yoresiyawe is assisted by the headman. Finally the aspirant dances a rehearsal hekuramou, watched by the other healers of the village who comment and encourage his performance.

    Kurzfassung: Zu Beginn der Geisterbeschwörung wird Yopo geschnupft. Der Medizinmann und der Häuptling tanzen mit erhobener Machete. Sie leiten die herannahenden gedachten Geister pantomimisch in den Körper des Initianden.
    Kurzfassung: The highest-ranking healer (sapori) Yoresiyawe blows the sniffing drug yopo into the nostrils of two men. Then he takes the drug himself and achieves trance. With the help of other healers he instructs first a man who is already healer, and later another one who is not yet initiated. Chanting and dancing the healers carry the spirits and insert them with much pantomimic gesture into the bodies of their pupils. The healers verbalize their experience and visions and engage on dialogues with others.

    Kurzfassung: Architektur und Innenausstattung des 1873 erbauten Langhauses (50 m lang, 14 m breit, auf 30 Eisenholzträgern 15 m über dem Boden errichtet) und der Alltag seiner Bewohner sind Thema der Dokumentation: Reisanbau, Gewinnung und Weiterverarbeitung von Rotan, dörfliches Leben am Flußufer, Aspekte der Totenverehrung. Während eines Willkommenfestes, an dem das ganze Dorf teilnimmt, werden verschiedene Tänze aufgeführt.
    Kurzfassung: The film shows the architecture and the interior decoration of a longhouse built in 1873 (50 metres long, 14 metres wide, constructed upon 30 ironwood girders 15 metres above the ground) and the daily life of its inhabitans: rice cultivation, collecting and processing rotan, village life on the river bank, aspects of the veneration of the dead. During a welcome festival, in which the whole village takes part, different dances are performed.

    Kurzfassung: Die bunt geschmückten Partner sitzen paarweise nebeneinander in einer Hütte; im Hintergrund singen Männer Liebeslieder. Zu Beginn der etwa 5 Minuten dauernden Tänze wiegt der Werbende Oberkörper und Kopf. Dann wendet er sich seiner Partnerin zu, die sich ebenfalls zu wiegen beginnt. Es kommt zu Stirn- und Nasenreiben. Nach zweimaligem Nasenreiben verbeugen sich die Tanzpartner tief parallel zueinander, dann reiben sie wieder zweimal ihre Nasen und so fort in stetem Rhythmus, der nicht von der Musik bestimmt wird.
    Kurzfassung: The courtship dance of the Medlpa contains a stylized nose rubbing and contact of the cheeks. The participants, richly adorned, are sitting in couples side by side in a hut, in the background men are singing love-songs. At the beginning of the dances, which each have a length of about 5 minutes, the man sways his upper body and his head, then he turns to his female partner who also starts to sway. Forehead and nose rubbing take place. Afte a second nose rubbing the partners make a deep bow towards each other, then they rub their noses twice again, and so forth, in a steady rhythm not determined by the music.
