    Abstract: Am Nachmittag und Abend des Allerheiligentages laufen in Kals am Großglockner die Kinder von Haus zu Haus und sammeln Krapfen, Süßigkeiten oder Geld. Sie kündigen sich mit dem Geklapper, eigentlich Schnappern, ihrer "Krapfenschnapper" an und verabschieden sich mit einem "Vergelt's Gott für die Armen Seelen". (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3046).
    Abstract: The movie was filmed on All-Saints Day at Kals on the foot of the Großglockner-mountain in Austria (Eastern Tyrol). It shows the procession and the visit at the graveyard where people pray. Afterwards small children and school children do "Krapfenschnappern" during afternoon and evening. This souling custom, in connection with religious ideas, is used "to help the poor souls".

    Abstract: Ausgehend von der Annahme, daß bei allen höheren Lebewesen rhythmische Verhaltensweisen vorkommen, erläutert Otto Koenig anhand von Filmaufnahmen eines Treffens der Alpenregion der Schützenam 3. August 1986 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen seine These, daß (militärischer) Gleichschritt durch Trommelrhythmus erreicht wird, z. T. Zeitdehnung.
    Abstract: Starting from the assumption that rhythmical ways of behaviour occur in all higher living creatures Otto Koenig demonstrates by means of film shots of a meeting of the "Alpenregion der Schützen" (alpine region of riflemen) his thesis that (military) equal step is achieved by drumming rhythm.     Abstract: 1975 gründeten Südtiroler, Nordtiroler und Bayerische Schützen eine Gemeinschaft der Schützen der Alpenregion und beschlossen, sich jährlich zu treffen. Der Film zeigt Aufmarsch, Ansprachen, Feldmesse und Parade anläßlich des Treffens am 3. August 1986 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bayern.

    Abstract: Der Kalser Bildhauer Thomas Rogl schnitzt und faßt im Auftrag für das Filmteam einen "Krapfenschnapper", wie ihn Kinder am Allerheiligentag zum "Krapfenschnappern" verwenden. Es entsteht der Kopf eines Donald Duck, dessen beweglicher Unterschnabel mit einer Schnur gegen den oberen Teil geschlagen werden kann, was ein "schnapperndes" Geräusch hervorruft. Der Schnitzer kommentiert den Film selbst. (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3047).
    Abstract: The sculptor Thomas Rogl demonstrates for a film the manufacture of a "Krapfenschnapper", how it will be used by children during afternoon and evening a day before the "All-Souls Day". A "Krapfenschnapper" consists of a wooden head of an animal or a man, attached on a stick. The moveable lower jaw can be pulled with a string and beats on the upper part of the head which produces a ratting noise of a special frequence. A separate movie was produced concerning the custom of "Krapfenschnappern". This film shows the development of the work of the sculptor from the raw wooden block to the finished product of a "Krapfenschnapper". The work for one "Krapfenschnapper" is normally done in one day. This film presents it in a short snatched up form.

Ein Beispiel für nichtmusikalisch verwendetes Spielzeug: das Zusammenbinden eines "Zitterwagens".
    Abstract: This film shows how simple toys and musical instruments were once made by children tending cattle in springtime. Every step of the preparation and use of the "Maipfeiferl" (= may whistle), "Rindenoboe" (= willow-bark oboe), "Hollerbüchse" (= elder air-pistol) is demonstrated - from the selection of suitable tree boughs to the attempts to elicit a tone (or noise) from the musical instrument. An example of the building of a non-instrumental toy, the "Zitterwagerl" (= vibrating wagon), is also shown. In the course of the film the demonstrator Julius Sorger explains why now one can no longer observe children building those toys.

    Abstract: Der Kalser Bildhauer Thomas Rogl schnitzt und faßt im Auftrag für das Filmteam einen "Krapfenschnapper", wie ihn Kinder am Allerheiligentag zum "Krapfenschnappern" verwenden. Es entsteht der Kopf eines Donald Duck, dessen beweglicher Unterschnabel mit einer Schnur gegen den oberen Teil geschlagen werden kann, was ein "schnapperndes" Geräusch hervorruft. Der Schnitzer kommentiert den Film selbst. (Vgl. Film E 3045 und E 3047).
    Abstract: The sculptor Thomas Rogl demonstrates for a film the manufacture of a "Krapfenschnapper", how it will be used by children during afternoon and evening a day before the "All-Souls Day". A "Krapfenschnapper" consists of a wooden head of an animal or a man, attached on a stick. The moveable lower jaw can be pulled with a string and beats on the upper part of the head which produces a ratting noise of a special frequence. A separate movie was produced concerning the custom of "Krapfenschnappern". This film shows the development of the work of the sculptor from the raw wooden block to the finished product of a "Krapfenschnapper". The work for one "Krapfenschnapper" is normally done in one day. This film presents it in a short snatched up form.

    Abstract: Ausgehend von der Annahme, daß bei allen höheren Lebewesen rhythmische Verhaltensweisen vorkommen, erläutert Otto Koenig anhand von Filmaufnahmen eines Treffens der Alpenregion der Schützenam 3. August 1986 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen seine These, daß (militärischer) Gleichschritt durch Trommelrhythmus erreicht wird, z. T. Zeitdehnung.
    Abstract: Starting from the assumption that rhythmical ways of behaviour occur in all higher living creatures Otto Koenig demonstrates by means of film shots of a meeting of the "Alpenregion der Schützen" (alpine region of riflemen) his thesis that (military) equal step is achieved by drumming rhythm.     Abstract: Männer und einige Mädchen des Dorfes Tauwema schmücken sich und versammeln sich auf dem Dorfplatz. Eine Gruppe beginnt, die Erntefestlieder zu singen. Trommeln begleiten den Gesang. Die Tänzer umschreiten die Sänger und Trommler. Alle Tänzer tragen Röcke aus Bananenblattfasern. Nach zwei bis vier Stunden folgt ein Abschlußtanz.
    Abstract: For the Trobriands the most important event in the course of the year are the harvest ceremonies. The festivals, taking place in a period of abundance after the crop has been gathered, are opened with dances. Men and a few girls of the village square. A group begins to sing the ceremonial harvest songs, accompanied by drums. The dancers, dressed in skirts made of pandanus leaves and fibres from banana leaves, move in a circle round the sinders and drummers. After two to four hours a concluding dance is performed. The film presents the beginning of the ceremonies, a part of the songs of the cycles Usi veponu and Usi vetoi, and finally the end of this ritual inaugurating the festival in Tauwema village.

    Abstract: Im Dorf Banolbil wird ein Schweinefest durchgeführt, bei dem durch die Fleischverteilung soziale und wirtschaftliche Beziehungen gepflegt werden. Das getötete Schwein wird zerlegt, und das Fleisch wird zusammen mit Gemüse in zwei Erdöfen gegart. Anschließend verteilt der Besitzer des Schweines die Nahrung. Ein Teil davon wird gleich gegessen, ein anderer mit nach Hause genommen.
    Abstract: In the village of Banolbil a pig ceremony is performed by means of which social and economic relationships are cultivated by meat distribution. The slaughtered pig is cut up, and the meat is cooked with vegetables in two earthen ovens. The pig's owner subsequently distributes the food. Part of it is eaten immediately; another part is taken home.

    Abstract: Zur Einleitung der Erntefeierlichkeiten nach dem Einfüllen der Yams in die Vorratshäuser tanzen die Trobriander verschiedene Tänze und singen verschiedene Liedzyklen. Der Film zeigt einen Spiraltanz, zu dem Lieder aus dem Zyklus "Wosi Bwebwe'una" gesungen werden.
    Abstract: After the yams have been stared in the granaries, the Trobriands celebrate the harvest festival. The festival is opened with different dances and songs of different song cycles. The film presents a spiral dance accompanied by songs of the cycle Wosi Bwebwe'una.
