Jede Kunst hat eine ihr eigene Sprache entwickelt, die den Menschen hilft, in Beziehung zueinander zu treten und sich auszutauschen. Die Künste geben den Kulturen die Möglichkeit sich auszudrücken und tragen zur Entstehung kultureller Identität bei. Sie formen die Wahrnehmungen, Erinnerungen, Vorstellungen und damit das individuelle und kollektive Imaginäre. In ihnen erfahren die Menschen die Alterität anderer Kulturen und ihrer selbst und werden dadurch gebildet. Die Künste sind nicht nur den Angehörigen ihrer Kultur, sondern allen Menschen zugänglich. Sie vermitteln heterologische Erfahrungen und haben daher für die Verständigung zwischen den verschiedenen Kulturen eine große Bedeutung. Note: Soll das Ausmaß manifester, struktureller und symbolischer Gewalt in den Beziehungen zwischen der islamischen und der europäischen Welt verringert werden, so müssen neue Perspektiven des wechselseitigen Verstehens und der Kooperation entwickelt werden. Glaube und Religion spielen eine zentrale Rolle für die Entwicklung von Hass und Misstrauen. Beide können dazu führen, den Anderen abzulehnen, können aber auch dazu beitragen, Gemeinsamkeiten zu entdecken und sich im Spiegel des Anderen zu verstehen. Im Rahmen der Globalisierung gilt es, kulturelle Vielfalt zuzulassen und mit ihrer Hilfe den interkulturellen Dialog zu fördern. Zu diesem Prozess leistet der vorliegende Sammelband einen zentralen Beitrag. Wurden sie bislang zumeist unterAspekten der Stereotypie, Rigidität und Gewalt thematisiert, konzentriertsich die vorliegende Untersuchung auf diejenigen Momente von Ritualen, die Gemeinschaften hervorbringen und gestalten. Rituale dienen hierbei der Gemeinschaft als Medium, Differenzen zu erzeugen und zu bearbeiten, Krisen zu bewältigen und Übergänge zu strukturieren. Die ethnographisch angelegte Studie zeigt, wie sich soziale Beziehungen in performativen Prozessen von Ritualen und Ritualisierungen bilden. In diesem Sinne liegt der Fokus auf der Dramaturgie und Organisation ritueller Interaktionen und ihrer Effekte, der szenisch-mimetischen Expressivität, dem Aufführungs- und Inszenierungscharakter und dem praktischen Wissen sozialen Handelns. Vier zentrale Sozialisationsfelder performativen rituellen Handelns werden analysiert: der Lebensraum der Familie, die Übergänge im Schulalltag, die Pausenspiele von Kindern und die Medieninszenierungen von Peergroups. Darüber hinaus wird das rituelle Handeln als praktisches mimetisches Wissen besimmt sowie die Stadt als performativer Raum charakterisiert
