    Abstract: Cette thèse porte sur une comparaison de trois villes nouvelles édifiées en périphérie des grandes métropoles indiennes : Gurgaon en périphérie de Delhi, capitale politique ; Salt Lake (ou Bidhannagar) en périphérie de Kolkata, capitale historique ; Navi Mumbai en périphérie de Mumbai, capitale économique. Si leur fondation a débuté dans les années 1970 et 1980 avec pour objectif de désengorger les villes centres, elles ont connu un second développement en parallèle de la libéralisation de l'économie indienne dans les années 1990 et se sont peu à peu transformées en nouveaux pôles et vitrines de l'Inde émergente. Elles sont pour cette raison ici désignées comme de nouvelles villes. Par delà l'analyse de ces nouveaux espaces urbains de l'Inde émergente, cette thèse se concentre plus particulièrement sur la question de la citadinité des élites. L'hypothèse est ici que la citadinité constitue le signe de l'appropriation des nouvelles villes par les élites. La citadinité peut être définie comme ce qui est le propre des habitants des villes, du fait de vivre en ville, et comme l'appropriation des signes, du vocabulaire et des pratiques de l'urbain. Elle fournit non seulement une grille de lecture pour comprendre les nouvelles villes, mais elle participe également pleinement du développement et de la visibilité croissante de ces entités urbaines. Les nouvelles villes sont ici qualifiées d'émergentes parce qu'elles témoignent d'une part de nouvelles modalités urbaines du développement économique de l'Inde et d'autre part de nouveaux modèles de ville en pleine croissance. Par delà l'étude des transformations des processus de fondations urbaines dans l'Inde contemporaine, cette thèse sur la citadinité des élites a pour objectif d'infléchir la compréhension des villes de volonté présentes et la conception de celles à venir en replaçant leurs principaux bénéficiaires au centre de l'analyse
    Abstract: This PhD thesis is focused on a comparison between three new towns located on the outskirts of large metropolitan centers in India : Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi, the political capital ; Salt Lake (or Bidhannagar) on the outskirts of Calcutta, the historic capital ; Navi Mumbai on the outskirts of Mumbai, the economic capital. While their initial foundation dates back to the 1970s and 1980s, and aimed at decongesting the city centers, the new towns underwent a second burst of development in conjunction with the liberalization of the Indian economy in the 1990s and have evolved into hubs and showcase examples of emerging India. They are hence referred to as "new new towns". Within the context of analyse on the new urban spaces of emerging India, this PhD thesis is more particularly focused on the question of "citadinite" of elites. My working hypothesis is that citadinite is the sign that these new new towns have been appropriated. It can be defined as that which is proper to city dwellers, as a result of living in a city, and as the appropriation of urban signs, vocabulary and practices. Citadinite not only offers a key to shed light on new new towns, but also contributes to the development and increased visibility of these urban entities. New new towns are denoted here as emerging since they reflect new urban modalities of economic development in India, on the one hand, and constitute a new model for urban development, on the other hand. In addition to studying the urban foundations' transformation processes in contemporary India, this PhD thesis on citadinite as experienced by elites aims to impact the current understanding of existing new towns and the conception of new towns to come by putting their main addressees at the centre of the analysis

    Abstract: D'apparition récente et de dimension restreinte dans la société française, l'agriculture biologique présente néanmoins une grande diversité. Cela s'explique par le fait qu'au-delà d'un ensemble de pratiques agricoles, elle est également un mouvement idéologique. Pour cette raison, la production et la commercialisation des produits qui en sont issus constituent un enjeu scientifique pour la sociologie économique : comment le projet idéologique de l'agriculture biologique est-il traité le long des opérations de marchandisation ? Notre analyse se fonde sur une enquête menée dans l'Ouest et le Sud-Ouest auprès des acteurs de ce secteur : éleveurs, groupements de producteurs, entreprises de transformation, distributeurs, organisations professionnelles et syndicales. Le corpus a été constitué à partir d'entretiens semi-directifs et du recueil de différents documents. Nous étudions la circulation de la viande biologique non seulement à partir du critère de la définition du produit, mais aussi de la forme de l'échange économique et plus largement des rôles sociaux des acteurs concernés par sa circulation : en nous appuyant sur les notions de circuits de commerce (V. Zelizer) et d'économie morale (E. P. Thompson), nous considérons que la combinaison de ces trois critères forme différents modèles d'organisation économique - modèles que nous qualifions d'économies politiques. Nous identifions ainsi une économie politique de la standardisation, fondée sur la concentration des volumes de production et leur tri en fonction de débouchés diversifiés, et une économie politique du producteur, qui se caractérise par le rôle central que les éleveurs entendent jouer dans ce cadre
    Abstract: Though recently developed and limited in scope, the French organic farming sector is highly diversified. The reason is that organic farming refers to farming practices but also to an ideological movement. Producing and commercializing organic products in such situation constitutes a relevant topic for economic sociology: how is the organic farming ideological project embedded in the commercialization process? The analysis is based on a fieldwork conducted with the economic sector's actors in western and south-western France: breeders, farmers groups, manufacturing plants, distributors, professional associations and unions. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews and the gathering of written sources. To analyze how organic meat circulates, I take into account the definition of the product, the form of the economic transaction and more widely the social roles played by actors involved in the circulation of the product. Drawing on the notions of "circuits of commerce" (V.Zelizer) and that of "moral economy" (E.P.Thompson), I show that the combination of these three criteria shapes different economic organization models - which I call political economies. I identify two of them: a standardization political economy and a producer political economy. The former is based on the concentration of volumes of production and its dispatching to diversified markets while the latter is characterized by the central breeders' role

    Abstract: Cette thèse propose une réflexion sur l'exercice du pouvoir à partir d'enquêtes effectuées dans trois quartiers contrastés de Pékin (2007-2009). Cette approche « par le bas » s'intéresse à la vie quotidienne en croisant microsociologie urbaine et politique comparée. Le quartier, site de pouvoir, est traversé par différentes formes d'hétéro-contrôle (politiques publiques), de contrôle social (normes) et d'autocontrôle. L'espace d'un quartier se construit sur la base d'interactions et de mises en scène des habitants, producteurs d'arts de faire et de conventions, mais aussi des travailleurs, notamment les agents du comité de résidents. Cette instance, qui ne relève pas officiellement de l'administration, est au cœur de la réforme de l'action publique de construction des communautés de quartier (shequ). Maillon essentiel du contact entre les habitants et la chaîne de l'administration, elle constitue un type particulier de street-level bureaucracy. La domination s'établit à un double niveau, à partir des ambitions étatiques de construction d'une métropole internationale abritant des citadins « modernes et civilisés », mais aussi à partir des désirs de la population (confort, ordre, stabilité). Cet agencement d'intérêts différents a convergé vers le nouveau modèle de résidence (xiaoqu), qui génère une matrice d'assujettissement (logique de marché), mais aussi de subjectivation, les pratiques des individus (routines et contestation) étant productrices de nouveaux cadres. Le quartier devient alors le lieu où les individus construisent leur propre domination, un lieu où s'observe la formation locale de l'État, un lieu de plus en plus connecté à l'image sociale de la « vie bonne »
    Abstract: This thesis offers a study of power exercise in three different types of neighbourhoods in Beijing, China, where the author carried out fieldwork from 2007 until 2009. This approach « from below » aims at understanding daily life by crisscrossing urban microsociology and comparative politics. The urban neighbourhood, as a site of power, undergoes different forms of hetero-control, social control and self-control. The neighourhood space is produced by the interactions and theatrical dispositions of the inhabitants, but also by the local workers, among whom the people who work in residents' committees. This organization located at the root-level, though not officially part of the urban administration, is involved in the reform of local public action known as « neighbourhood communities » building (shequ jianshe). An essential link between the inhabitants and the upper-level administration, the committee can be seen as a new generation of street-level bureaucracy. The process of domination is initiated both by the state's strategies aiming at shaping modern civilized citizens living in an international metropolis, and by the inhabitants' yearning for comfort, order, stability. The converging of these different interests leads to the new residential model (xiaoqu), which creates mechanisms of submission (to the logic of the market) as well as subjection (the individuals being able to invent new frames with their daily practices). The eneighbourhood has thus become the core of the state's local formation, a place where each individual is more and more responsible of his own domination, a place more and more conform to the social image of the « good life »

    Abstract: La communauté morisque de Grenade vit le jour en 1502 avec la conversion au christianisme des musulmans qui refusèrent l'exil. En 1568, les morisques des Alpujarras se révoltèrent ; vaincus, les rebelles furent réduits en esclavage et on déporta tous les morisques grenadins vers la Castille. Que s'est-il passé entre ces deux dates ? Quelles furent les raisons pour lesquelles les deux communautés morisque et vieille-chrétienne ne pouvaient plus vivre ensemble ? A partir de l'étude des archives notariées de Grenade, nous avons tenté de retracer la vie des individus morisques - de leur naissance à leur mort - en nous attardant à des aspects concrets de leur vie quotidienne tels que l'éducation, la formation professionnelle, le mariage et en évaluant leur degré d'assimilation à la nouvelle société chrétienne

    Abstract: Faire la sociologie de la construction des sentiments d'appartenance «politique» revient à analyser les perceptions subjectives construites eu égard aux communautés politiques. Pour les appréhender nous nous sommes attachée aux trajectoires biographiques des migrants et enfants de migrants polonais vivant en France et en Allemagne au moment de l'enquête. L'étude de ces trajectoires «polonaises» en termes de bifurcations biographiques, de «genres de vie» - où l'expérience migratoire occupe une place centrale fait cohabiter, dans l'analyse, le temps court de l'événement biographique et le temps long des socialisations. En nous attachant aux rapports de ce «groupe témoin» vis-à-vis de la France et de l'Allemagne, ce sont aussi les « idiomes de la nationalité et de la citoyenneté» de ces deux Etats-nations que les Polonais nous invitent à repenser. Si les sentiments d'appartenance s'objectivent en référence au Droit de la nationalité, aux constructions socio-historiques de la citoyenneté, cette sociologie des sentiments d'appartenance, faite à hauteur d'hommes et de femmes, interroge - plutôt qu'elle ne le prend pour acquis - le poids du « national» dans les représentations et nous conduit dans le même temps à déconstruire la catégorie de citoyenneté. Dans ce cadre, nous userons d'une terminologie plurielle: nationalisme, patriotisme, étatisme et civisme. La construction des sentiments d'appartenance est un processus qui voit se côtoyer des périodes où « l'identité politique» est déstabilisée; où, en tension avec les puissances d'Etat, elle se négocie ; où, à la recherche de reconnaissance, un groupe tend à vouloir affirmer sa singularité

    Abstract: La présente enquête se situe à l'intersection de deux thèmes de recherche: les mouvements indiens qui ont surgi au Mexique dans les années 1980 et 1990 (zapatisme et comunalisme oaxaqueño) et la migration aux Etats-Unis d'hommes et de femmes y ayant directement ou indirectement participe. Autrement dit, je m'interroge sur le passage du militantisme à la migration transnationale et sur l'expérience de ces nouveaux migrants de l'autre côté de la frontière. Je soutiens que ce passage représente un déplacement tant spatial que politique et subjectif. On passe ainsi d'un modèle dans lequel les luttes pour la reconnaissance représentaient une alternative politique mais aussi un projet de vie pour toute une génération d'acteurs indiens, a un modèle ou ces luttes, tout en se prolongeant et se consolidant dans certaines régions, perdent dans d'autres leur centralité, dans la mesure ou elles cessent de mobiliser et/ou de faire sens pour certains jeunes Indiens chez qui l'émigration transnationale s'impose comme l'unique horizon possible. À partir d'une enquête menée à la fois au Mexique dans les états du Chiapas et de Oaxaca et aux Etats-Unis, je cherche à restituer l'expérience militante et migratoire de ces jeunes en accordant une place centrale à leurs subjectivités, ce qui me permet d'insister sur la marge d'autonomie qui existe pour l'action individuelle et collective. Mettre l'accent sur celles-ci ne me conduit pas pour autant à ignorer les causes « objectives » qui les ont poussées à quitter leur communauté, ni les phénomènes d'exploitation, d'exclusion, de racisme et de manque de reconnaissance, auxquels ils se confrontent aux Etats-Unis
    Abstract: The present research is located at the crossing of two important topics. The first matter talks about the indigenous movements that emerged in Mexico in the decades of 1980 and 1990; and the second topic refers to the migration to the United States by part of men and women who participated, direct or indirectly, in these movements. Therefore, I wonder about the step from their political activism or militancy towards transnational migration and about these new migrants' experience beyond the border. I think that the pass from militancy into transnational migration represents bath a spatial shift and a political and subjective displacement too. This means a shifting from a model where the fights for recognition implied a political choice and a life project for an entire generation of indigenous actors into another model. In this last model, the fights continue and become consolidated in some areas. In other regions, however, these fights are losing centrality since they do not mobilize or make sense for certain young indigenous people, amongst whom transnational migration prevails as the only possible horizon. Starting from a research carried out in Chiapas and Oaxaca States (Mexico) and in the United States, l try to reconstruct these youngsters militant and migratory experience by giving a central place to their subjectivity. This last point allows me to underline the autonomy margin that exists for the individual and collective actions. To lay the stress on the subjective dimension does not mean to ignore either the objective reasons that obliged them to leave their communities, or the exploitation, racism, and lack of recognition phenomena that they face in the United States

S’appuyant sur des documents inédits, parmi lesquels les archives internes de l’organisation, cette thèse poursuit un double objectif : écrire, d’une part, une monographie de la première organisation antiraciste française, fondée par le journaliste Bernard Lecache ; revisiter, d’autre part, la question de l’antisémitisme dans les années 1930 à la lueur d’une documentation et de perspectives nouvelles. L’étude a pour cadre la France métropolitaine et l’Afrique du Nord et contextualise les dynamiques explorées en les inscrivant dans une approche chronologique organisée autour de quelques temps forts : le procès de Samuel Schwartzbard (octobre 1927), la nomination d’Adolf Hitler au poste de chancelier de l’Allemagne (janvier 1933), la victoire du Front populaire (mai 1936), la crise des Sudètes (septembre 1938) et la défaite militaire française (juin 1940). L’analyse porte sur la diversité des expressions antisémites, de l’antisémitisme ordinaire aux formes extrêmes privilégiées par les activistes ; elle étudie les moyens mis en œuvre par les militants de la LICA pour riposter à ces manifestations ; elle n’oublie pas de s’interroger sur les réactions de la société civile, sur celles des élites et des pouvoirs publics. La nature de ce militantisme antiraciste, sa réception – entre autres par les milieux juifs –, ses échecs, ses succès et ses paradoxes, constituent autant d’interrogations auxquelles ce travail s’efforce de répondre
    Abstract: This work focuses on the history of the International League against anti-Semitism (“Ligue internationale contre l’antisémitisme”) from its creation to its dissolution in 1940. Built with unpublished documents, including the internal documents of the organization, this PhD has two objectives: on one hand, write a monograph of the first French anti-racist organization, founded by the journalist Bernard Lecache; on the other hand, revisit the question of anti-Semitism in the 1930’s by the light of a new documentation and new approaches. The study is set in metropolitan France and North Africa and contextualizes the dynamics explored by fixing them in a chronological approach structured by some highlights: the trial of Samuel Schwartzbard (October 1927), the arrival to power of Adolf Hitler (January 1933), the victory of “Front populaire” (May 1936), the crisis of Sudetes (September 1938) and French military defeat (June 1940). The analysis focuses on diversification of anti-Semitic events, from ordinary forms to extreme forms preferred by activists; it studies means used by the LICA members in order to riposte to that phenomena; it’s also a reflexion about the reactions of the civil society, of elites and authorities facing the problems. The nature of this anti-racist activism, its receipt – by Jews among others –, its failures, its success and its paradoxes, are questions this work tries to answer

Nous montrons que les constructions identitaires s'organisent et s'ancrent dans le quotidien décliné dans des formes originales de sociabilités et de rapports sociaux mettant en présence des femmes (jeunes et adultes, mères et filles, compagnes) aux côtés des hommes
    Abstract: This research is interested in the construction of gender identities through football. We will be trying to grasp how the experiment of feminine football is meaningful. First of all, it is about characterizing the space of feminine football by comparing the development of data on its history, media coverage, sociological and demographical effects, then understanding the way in which the female plavers make their participation possible. Through a comprehensive approach, we will try to understand the feminine experiments by starting from "in situ" observations and from a corpus of interviews through biographical stories on female football players and other actors from two clubs where both the feminine and the masculine teams coexist. We will show that the identity constructions are organized and anchored daily in the original forms of sociability and social relationships placing women (young people and adults, mothers and daughters, partners) next to men

    Abstract: Ese trabajo da cuenta de la lucha Ilevada a cabo por el movimiento campesino indigena Red Puna, en la provincia de Jujuy, en el extremo noroeste argentino. La Red Punajunta a más de mil familias quienes se organizan, reivindican la administración de su territorio y construyen proyectos que permiten mejorar la vida cotidiana (producción, comercialización, salud, educación, relaciones de género y de generaciones, etc.). Esta tesis se propone alumbrar la manera con la cual se eonfecciona lo social. Se construye según dos ejes: el primero que va de las realidades materiales hacia las realidades “ideales”; y el segundo que va de los determinismos hacia la libertad. Se parece que es del lado de las ideas, de los valores, simbolos y representaciones donde hay que buscar la explicación de una permanencia en los usos del mundo, y también esta voluntad de resistencia y esta capacidad a construir prácticas alternativas al modelo dominante

    Abstract: Cette thèse a pour objet d’étude les représentations du peuple costaricien depuis l’année de l’indépendance (1821) et jusqu’en 1917. La thèse part d’un constat : un discours d’« exceptionnalisme costaricien » et, plus particulièrement, le « mythe » d’une société blanche majoritaire au Costa Rica toujours présents non seulement dans les discours costariciens mais aussi dans le regard international. La thèse se propose ainsi d’évaluer l’histoire des représentations des Costariciens sur la longue durée pour mieux comprendre l’ « exception » costaricienne, mais en abordant de manière plus précise la notion de « race » des Costariciens. La recherche se positionne dans la perspective théorique des représentations sociales. L’étude s’approprie en particulier d’une réinterprétation du concept d’ « ethnotype ». L’auteur s’empare de deux dimensions de ce système : l’aspect biologique, la « race » et les trais du caractère. L’étude vise à trouver les divergences et similitudes de deux sortes d’ « ethnotypes » : endogène et exogène. Cette démarche se fait en suivant une visualisation chronologique qui inclut trois périodes de 1821-1880 (émergence et maturation), 1880-1899 (consolidation) et 1900-1917 (naturalisation). Ainsi, tout en jetant une lumière nouvelle sur les représentations du peuple costaricien, ce travail conduit à relire l’histoire de la construction de la nation au Costa Rica. En puisant dans un très vaste corpus qui inclut des sources internes et des sources externes, le travail contribue à expliquer que la singularisation d’un pays et sa définition identitaire peut mieux se comprendre dans l’analyse de l’autoreprésentation et du regard externe
    Abstract: This thesis aims to study the representations of the Costa Rican people since the year of independence (1821) and until year 1917. The thesis starts with an observation: a discourse of "Costa Rican exceptionalism" and, more particularly, the "myth" of a white society in Costa Rica always present not only in speeches but also in the Costa Rican international peglance. The thesis proposes the history of representations of Costa Ricans in a long time to understand the "exception" Costa Rican, but by approching in a more precise way the notion of "race" of Costa Ricans. The research is positioned in the theoretical perspective of social representations. The study appropriates particularly a reinterpretation of the concept of "ethnotype". The author captures two dimensions of this system: the biology, "race" and the features of character. The aim of this study is to find differences and similarities of two types of "ethnotype” : endogenous and exogenous. This is done by following a chronological display that includes three periods of 1821-1880 (emergence and maturation), 1880-1899 (consolidation) and 1900-1917 (naturalization). Thus, while shedding new light on the representations of the Costa Rican people, this work led to read again the history of nation building in Costa Rica. By drawing on a vast corpus that includes internal sources and external sources, the work helps to explain that the singularization of a country and the definition of its identity can better understand in the analysis of self-representation and the external perspective

    Abstract: On constate trois actions ethniques formées, naturellement différents les unes des autres, après la révolution islamique en Iran. Troisième action, apparue après les événements régionaux en Afghanistan et en Iraq, s'était orientée vers le changement des structures politiques de l'Iran. Cette action était influencée par la privation étendue et imposée par un gouvernement centraliste et despotique. En conséquence, on bute sur une question primordiale: quelle sera la future orientation du mouvement ethnique en Iran? La nature la question posée par cette étude, amène a employer une méthode synthétique de recherche. A ces trois approches sont associées les méthodes: historique, qualitative et quantitative. On a considéré tous les membres des groupes ethniques turc, kurde, loure, arabe, baloutche et turkmène en Iran, en les divisant en quatre groupes: Les acteurs principaux, des activistes, les membres pacifistes du mouvement ethnique et des couches bases, pour lesquels les acteurs et les activistes ne sont pas disponibles. Cette recherche a profité d'un modèle d'analyse multifactoriel. Ces facteurs ont été classifiés par trois couples de concepts contradictoires: centre-périphérie, despotisme-démocratie et nationalisme officiel -nationalisme ethnique qui sont fondé sur une structure identitaire. On n'a en déduit que leur manière paradoxale d'envisager le rôle des femmes et l'individualisme, conduit à une incapacité du mouvement ethnique à établir et à institutionnaliser une liberté fondée sur le droit de l'individu. Il nous semble que ce mouvement s'orient plutôt vers une démocratie en suivant d'autres mouvement sociaux, en essayant d'atteindre un réseau communicatif dans le mouvement ethnique en Iran
    Abstract: There are three actions ethnic actions naturally formed different from each other, after the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Third action, focused on political structural changes, arised after the territorial events in Afghanistan and Iraq. This action was influenced by the extent and imposed deprivation by a central and despotic government. Therefore we stumble on a fundamental question: What is the future direction of the ethnic movement in Iran? The nature of the question raised by this study, have lead us to use a synthetic method of research. These three approaches have considered in this method: historical, qualitative and quantitative. Considering the ethnic groups: Turk, Kurd, Lour, Arab, Balootch and Turkmen, this study focused on developing the ethnic action among four groups: actors, activists, pacifists and low social layers, for which the actors and activists are not available. This research has benefited from a multifactorial analysis mode. These factors were classified by three pairs of contradictory concepts: Center-Periphery, Democracy-Despotism and Official nationalism-Ethnic nationalism: which are based on an identical structure. Paradoxical way of considering the role of women and of individualism lead this movement to an inability of institutionalizing a liberty based on individual rights. In spite of this, in seems that this movement is moving more toward a democracy along with other social movements, trying to reach a common network in the ethnic movement in Iran

    Abstract: La thèse porte sur l'Agence française de sécurité sanitaire des aliments, établissement public créé en 1998 suite à la crise de la vache folle. Elle cherche à comprendre d'où vient cette agence, pourquoi et comment elle a été créée, comment elle est organisée et comment elle fonctionne ainsi que l'impact de son action sur la régulation des risques alimentaires, entre 1998 et 2005. La question sociologique centrale est celle de l'institutionnalisation de cette nouvelle agence sanitaire, sous la forme d'une organisation-frontière, située à l'interface de la science et de l'action publique, redevable tant auprès de la communauté scientifique que de la communauté politique et devant gérer la frontière socialement construite entre ces deux mondes. En utilisant la démarche de la sociologie de l'action organisée, nous montrons comment l'Afssa s'est institutionnalisée à la fois comme une organisation scientifique, par un processus de bureaucratisation de l'expertise, et comme un acteur politique pleinement engagé dans la défense des valeurs et des intérêts de la sécurité sanitaire. La thèse analyse les mécanismes, les effets et les contradictions de ce processus d'institutionnalisation pour comprendre la nature et l'ampleur du changement qu'a entraîné l'Afssa en matière de régulation des risques alimentaires
    Abstract: This study is about the French Food Safety Agency, a public institution which was created in 1998, after the so-called « mad cow crisis ». It aims at understanding the origins and the institutional design of the Agency, its organization and functioning, and its impact on food safety regulation. The creation of Afssa is analyzed as the institutionalization of a boundary-organization at the frontier of the two social worlds of politics and science, accountable to each other, involving the participation of actors from both worlds responsible for the management of the science-politics boundary. Using the sociological approach of organizational analysis, the thesis analyses the process by which Afssa has institutionalized itself as a scientific actor through a process of bureaucratization of expertise and also as a political actor, defending the values and interests of public health in the food safety regulation regime. We analyze the mechanisms, the effects and the contradictions of this institutionalization process in order to understand the nature and the scope of the institutional and political change of food risk regulation

    Abstract: La migration bretonne vers les Amériques est remarquable par son importance et sa continuité. Selon Le Clech, pionnier et spécialiste de la migration bretonne, 550 000 Bretons ont émigré pour les Etats-Unis et 45 000 pour le Canada entre 1880 et 1910. Plusieurs études ont été réalisées en France et au Canada, par des historiens, décrivant les arrivées successives de Bretons en Amérique du Nord, les causes ou facteurs de leur migration, leurs lieux d’implantation et leur réinsertion sociale et professionnelle. Mais ces ouvrages traitent davantage de la migration vers les États-Unis, alors que le nombre de migrants bretons y est presque égal à celui du Canada. L’originalité de ma recherche réside dans le terrain d’observation choisi, à savoir la province du Québec, au Canada. En effet, les Canadiens français qui y résident, aujourd’hui appelés les Québécois, est un groupe minoritaire qui a subi des oppressions linguistiques et culturelles comparables à celles des Bretons. Par conséquent, ce terrain m’a semblé pertinent pour analyser les relations qu’ont établies les migrants bretons avec ce groupe minoritaire. D’autre part, l’intérêt qui m’a conduit à travailler sur la migration des Bretons au Québec est de découvrir comnent leur appartenance culturelle régionale bretonne, autrement dit leur bretonnité, a été déterritorialisée, puis relocalisée en terre d’accueil. Je considère donc la migration comme une situation expérimentale au travers de laquelle j’ai tenté d’analyser comment se déconstruit, se reconstruit ou se construit une appartenance culturelle. En d’autre termes, pourquoi et comment certains migrants bretons du Québec expriment, valorisent voire réinventent leur appartenance culturelle régionale bretonne à 6000 km de leur territoire d’origine ? Cette recherche m’a permis d’éclairer bien sûr les formes d’appartenance culturelle de la communauté bretonne en situation de mobilité géographique, mais également de contribuer à la connaissance et à la compréhension de celles d’autres communautés culturelles et ainsi de participer à l’enrichissement des connaissances dans les champs de l’anthropologie et l’ethnologie des migrations
    Abstract: The Breton migration to the American continent is noticeable considering its number and its continuity. According to Le Clech, pioneer and specialist of the Breton migration, 55 000 Breton people have emigrated to the USA and 45 000 to Canada between 1880 and 1970. Some studies were carried out in France and Canada, by historians, which described the repeated arrivals of Breton people in North America, the reasons or factors for their migration, the places for their settlement and their social and professional reintegration. Nevertheless, these studies are more focused on the migration to the USA, while they are nearly the same number of Breton migrants in Canada. The originality of my research lies in the chosen field of observation, which is the province of Quebec, Canada. lndeed, the French Canadian who live there, as called today Quebecois, are a minority group who was subjected similare pressure toward their language and culture as the Breton people. Consequently, this field appeared to be pertinent to analyse the relations established between the migrants and this minority group. On the other hand, what interested me in the study of the migration of the Bretons was the discovery of the way their sentiment to belonging to the regional Breton culture, in other word their “Bretonness”, was taken from the territory of origin and relocated in the destination country. I consider therefore the migration as an experimental situation, through which I tried to analyse how a cultural belonging is unbuilt, rebuilt or built. In other words, why and how some Breton migrants in Quebec express, promote, or even recreate their cultural belonging 6000 km far from their territory of birth territory? This research allowed me to throw light of course the different expressions of cultrural belonging in a situation of geographical mobility. It also allowed me to contribute to the knowledge and the understanding of the belonging to other cultural communities and therefore to participate in enriching theknowledge in the field anthropology and ethnology of migrations

    Abstract: Cette étude d’ethnologie et de sciences religieuses étudie le processus de sacralisation de territoire, au travers des processions giratoires communautaires, connues en Bretagne sous le nom de «troménies », du breton tro + minihi, traduisible par le tour de la monachia, des terres d’un monastère celtique du haut Moyen Age. Elles se caractérisent par l’aspect giratoire de la pérambulation, dans un sens de circulation dextrogyre, au sein d’un rituel catholique coutumier commémorant le geste fondateur du saint patron de la paroisse. Huit troménies (Bourbriac, Gouesnou, Landeleau, Locquénolé, Locmaria-Quimper, Locronan) sont mises en regard d’exemples français (Ceaucé, Magnac-Laval, Larchant) et belges (Mons, Nivelles, Renaix, Saintes, Soignies). L’étude privilégie l’analyse symbolique de l’ensemble des éléments sollicités par le rituel : toponymie, histoire, géographie, hagiographie, liturgie, ethnographie, mythologie, folklore
    Abstract: This study of anthropology and religious studies examining the process of sacralization of territory through the giratory community processions, known in Britain under the name “Troménies” (from the Breton language tro + minihi, translatable by « around the monachia », the territory pertaining to a Celtic monastery in the early Middle Ages). They are characterized by a clockwise cirumambulation as a customary Catholic ritual gesture commemorating the founding by the parish saint patron. Eight Troménies (Bourbriac, Gouesnou, Landeleau, Locquénolé, Locmaria-Quimper, Locronan) are placed .next to French examples (Ceaucé, Magnac-Laval, Larchant) and Belgium (Mons, Nivelles, Ronse, Saintes, Soignies). The study focuses on the symbolic analysis of ail items requested by the ritual place names, history, geography, hagiography, liturgy, ethnography, mythology, folklore

    Abstract: Pourquoi et comment les autorités publiques multiplient-elles les dispositifs censés incarner leur engagement en matière de participation directe des citoyens au processus décisionnel ? C'est en s'appuyant sur une comparaison entre quatre offres publiques régionales de participation que cette thèse entend répondre à cette question. L'étude diachronique de quatre conseils régionaux français ayant décidé, au milieu des années 2000, d'adopter un ensemble de dispositifs participatifs, selon des temporalités, des modalités et des agencements différenciés permet ainsi de révéler l'existence d'un consensus concernant la densification de cette offre. Malgré une hétérogéneité d'objectifs et de méthodes, la démocratie participative telle qu'elle se donne à voir dans ces cas d'étude est dotée d'un même ensemble de technologies et d'instruments : les listes de participants, les administrations spécialisées et les indicateurs sociodémographiques permettant la traçabilité des participants en sont les principaux piliers. Le recours systématique et consensuel à cet ensemble, quelles que soient les expériences et les régions, est l'objet d'une interprétation du lien qu'il crée entre participation et gouvernement. La démocratie participative est alors considérée sous l'angle du dispositif qui la sous-tend, composée de technologies permettant d'administrer la mobilisation d'une partie toujours plus conséquente de la population. Les conséquences du déploiement de cette capacité gouvernementale sont alors interrogées sous un angle critique, considérant notamment la manière dont ces espaces de participation administrée entendent gérer les flux politiques émanant du social.

    Abstract: Si les statistiques placent les Côtes-du-Nord parmi les départements français les moins confrontés au phénomène de l'abandon pendant le XIXe siècle, celui-ci a néanmoins beaucoup préoccupé les autorités bien décidées à l'éradiquer. Diverses mesures furent prises, d'abord brutales puis plus souples grâce à l'évolution des mentalités en faveur des mères célibataires et de leurs rejetons. S'intéresser à l'abandon des enfants, c'est s'intéresser à l'histoire de l'enfance et à l'histoire des femmes, mais aussi, plus généralement, à l'histoire de la vie rurale dans un département fortement empreint de catholicisme. C'est aussi s'intéresser au passage de la philanthropie à la création de l'Assistance publique. Les séries X et H dépôt des archives départementales des Côtes d'Armor permettent une plongée passionnante dans cet univers. Brosser, à grands traits, le quotidien des mères et des enfants abandonnés s'avère exaltant. Souffrances, humiliations, silences imposés surgissent sans surprise des sources mais aussi sursauts de révolte, insubordination et désertions
    Abstract: If statistics put Côtes-du-Nord among the French departments the least confronted by the phenomenon of abandonment during the 19th century, this one nevertheless worried seriously the authorities, decided to eradicate it. Various measures were taken, firstly rough then more flexible thanks to the evolution of mentalities in favour of the unmarried mothers and their children. Be interested about abandonment, it is to be interested about the history of childhood and history of women, but also most generally about the history of rural life in a strongly Catholic department. The series X and H dépôt of the departmental archives of Côtes d'Armor allow a fascinating dive in this universe. To paint, in broad outline, the mothers's and abandonned children's everyday life turns out exalting. Suffering, humiliations and imposed silences appear without surprise, but also surges of revolt, insubordination and desertions
