Das Überwinden von Informationsasymmetrien gelingt immer weniger, stattdessen wachsen die Ränder des Meinungsspektrums. Die zentrale Frage lautet: Wie kann gesellschaftliche Vielfalt künftig angemessener abgebildet werden, ohne Verbindendes weiter abzubauen? Die Beiträger_innen des Bandes loten die bestehenden Medienstrukturen kritisch aus und zeigen mögliche Alternativen auf. So könnte ein konkurrierendes Modell der Direktbeauftragung von Medienmacher_innen, finanziert aus den bestehenden Beitragseinnahmen, ARD, ZDF und Co. zum Sparen zwingen und das System in Bewegung bringen, ohne Mehrkosten zu verursachen

While museums have long focused on building digital object databases, the existing data can now become a field of application for machine learning, deep learning and foundation model approaches. This goes hand in hand with new artistic practices, curation tools, visitor analytics, chatbots, automatic translations and tailor-made text generation. With a decidedly interdisciplinary approach, the volume brings together a wide range of critical reflections, practical perspectives and concrete applications of artificial intelligence in museums and offers an overview of the current state of the debate.

    Abstract: This volume offers a media-theoretically oriented perspective on the Space Race. It analyzes feature films, documentaries, live television coverage, magazines, stamps, posters, ticker-tape parades. They visualized the Space Race in a specific way and circulated it transnationally from 'East' to 'West' and from 'West' to 'East' across the 'Iron Curtain'. It will be shown how reporting on the Space Race between 1955 and 1975 can be explained as a globalizing history of the intertwining of images during the Cold War. Dr. Sven Grampp is a senior lecturer at the Institute for Theatre and Media Studies at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence. A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content. .

    Abstract: "The shift to face-to-face communication since the start of the global pandemic has resulted in more conflicts among children and adolescents on social media, and aggressive and bullying behaviour becoming more severe on online platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Signal. This book holistically discusses the theoretical foundations underlying face-to-face and cyberaggression and provides practical advice for preventing and intervening in both forms of aggression and bullying among schoolchildren and adolescents across different countries. It offers practical tools to address notable shifts in expressions of aggression from offline to online settings since the COVID-19 outbreak in both Eastern and Western contexts. With nine chapters contributed by experts from the USA, Canada, Spain, Australia, Taiwan, Mainland China, and Hong Kong, the chapters offer cross-cultural insights, new definitions, theoretical frameworks, plus preventative and intervention strategies. The book also covers protective factors and issues related to both cyber and traditional forms of bullying and aggression. Michael Gottlob verdeutlicht die geschichtspolitischen Strategien, die die Konfrontation zwischen der hindunationalistischen Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) und der säkularen Kongresspartei (INC) prägen. Es zeigt sich: Der Streit um den Umgang mit der indischen Geschichte reicht tief in die Selbstverständigungsprozesse der Inder*innen unter dem Kolonialismus zurück.

Markus Unternährer analysiert, wie aus datengenerierenden Beziehungen beziehungsgenerierende Daten werden.     Abstract: Mit diesem Open-Access-Buch zeigt Stefan Lüder auf, dass die Geschichte der Himalaya-Region mit der übrigen Welt weitaus verflochtener ist als bisher angenommen wird. Die historische Legitimationsforschung ist bisher durch europa- und amerikazentrische Perspektiven geprägt. Auch wenn in den letzten Jahren vereinzelt auch die Zentren Asiens, insbesondere China und Indien, zunehmend in den Fokus genommen werden, bleibt die Himalaya-Region, trotz ihrer steigenden Bedeutung für Geopolitik und Klimawandel, in dieser Hinsicht bisher gänzlich unerforscht und wird in Medien, Politik und Wissenschaft weiterhin als unzugängliche Grenzregion wahrgenommen. Der Autor Stefan Lüder hat seine Promotion am Institut für Asien- und Afrikawissenschaften der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin abgeschlossen und wurde dabei durch ein Promotionsstipendium der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes unterstützt. Seine Schwerpunkte sind die historische Legitimationsforschung und Verflechtungsgeschichte der Himalaya-Region zwischen dem 18. und 20. Jahrhundert.

    Abstract: Dieses Buch enthält eine interdisziplinäre Betrachtung zum identitätsbildenden Wechselspiel von Text, Textilem und der Haut im und über den Film. Kernthese ist die Überlegung, dass sich im Film über den Wechsel zwischen Textilem und nackter Haut ikonische Verdichtungen zugunsten eines assoziativen Erfahrungsraums entfalten. Dabei weicht der Stoff – der erzählerische gleichermaßen wie der textile – dem Sinnlichen, der Affizierung über die Haut. Die Untersuchung beleuchtet den Zusammenhang zwischen filmischer Rezeption und Selbstreflexion der Zuschauenden, aber auch einer Gesellschaft sowie des Films selbst im jeweils zeitlichen Kontext. Die Filmsehenden erfahren nicht nur das Geschehen und die Protagonist*innen, sondern vor allem auch sich selbst im Spiegel des Anderen – der anderen Figur, der anderen Geschichte, der anderen, filmischen Welt. Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, unter symbolische Hüllen zu schauen und das Wesentliche darunter zu entdecken. Durch die Interdisziplinarität der Arbeit werden nicht nur Interessierte der Film-, Medien- und Kulturwissenschaft, sondern auch der Soziologie, der Psychologie, des (Mode-)Designs, der Kunstgeschichte und der Architektur angesprochen. Das Buch regt zu Perspektivwechseln und interdisziplinärem Austausch auf der Basis der für uns alle existenziellen Haut an. Mit diesem Alleinstellungsmerkmal werden Grenzen überwunden und Kollaborationen angeregt. Die Autorin Anke Steinborn, Dr. phil., Dipl. Des., absolvierte ihr Studium der Kulturwissenschaft, Filmwissenschaft und Kunstgeschichte in Berlin und London. Im Jahr 2013 folgte die Promotion im Fach Medienkultur in Weimar.     Abstract: "The timespan covered by The Routledge History of Fashion and Dress starts in the nineteenth century, with the aftermath of the consumers' revolution, and reaches all the way to the present. The fashion and garment industries have been international from the beginning and, as such, this volume looks at the history of fashion and dress through the lenses of both international and global history. Because fashion is also a multifaceted subject with human agency at its core, at the confluence of the material (fabrics, clothing, dyes, tools, and machines) and the immaterial (savoir-faire, identities, images, and brands), this volume adopts a transdisciplinary perspective, opening its pages to researchers from a variety of complementary fields. The chapters in this volume are organized based on their relationship to five fields of study: economics and commerce, politics, business, identities, and historical sources. Paying particular attention to change, the book goes beyond the great fashion capitals and well-known fashion centers and points to the broader geographies of fashion. Particular geographical areas focus on the emergence of new fashion systems and business models, whether they be in Sweden, Bangladesh, or Spain, or on the African continent, considered to be the "new frontier" of the industry. In recounting and juxtaposing stories of refugees' and migrants' returns, marriage migrants, voluntourists, migrant retirees, migrant tourism workers and entrepreneurs, mobile investors and professionals, and refugees pursuing educational mobility, this book cultivates more nuanced insights into intersecting forms of mobility. Ultimately, this work promises to foster not only empathy but greater resolve for forging trails towards mobility justice.
