    Kurzfassung: Este estudio antropológico analiza los movimientos contraculturales de la ultima mitad del siglo XX, en el escenario de la península ibérica de los años 90, basándose principalmente en el caso de los rebotados de las ciudades que buscan en el campo el escenario de una alternativa, nacida del rechazo a la sociedad circundante y en construcción permanente. Back-to-the-land, new travellers, hippies, son todas palabras anglosajonas con las que se ha bautizado a estos grupos, mostrando la proveniencia de su nacimiento en los EE.UU de los 70 y el Reino Unido de los 90. En España, las influencias son determinantes, sobre todo de un movimiento llamado Rainbow, pero la contracultura es como todo, cultural, y en España, toma un matiz local.El estudio analiza los temas claves del nacimiento de este movimiento y lo que su existencia y desarrollo implica : el desencanto radical con el mundo actual y la sociedad de consumo, la lucha contra la banalidad y el nihilismo y la búsqueda de la conciencia, el desarrollo y la transformación personal, como solución propuesta a la transformación social. Para esto, siguen la vía romántica de la huida, el viaje y la construcción de crono-topos ideales, que en la práctica, encuentran todas las limitaciones y problemas que, por definición, atraviesa cualquier intento utópico en su vano intento de materialización. Con todo, estos movimientos y asentamientos alternativos resisten y forman redes y posibilidades por las que transitan miles de estos desencantados.Esta tesis esta basada en un trabajo de campo de larga duración, a través del cual, el antropólogo sufre un proceso de membresía y transformación que son la principal fuente, en el contraste con los otros de sus hipótesis, reflexiones y análisis

    Kurzfassung: La tesis tiene como objeto estudiar, a través de los oficios palatinos, la sociedad en la Castilla de los los siglos XV y XVI, en los tiempos de los Reyes Católicos. El instrumento o documento básico a partir del cual he podido efectuar la investigación, es un manuscrito. Se trata de una copia, seguramente del siglo XVIII, de la segunda versión del LIBRO DE LA CAMARA REAL DEL PRINCIPE DON JUAN ET OFICIOS DE SU CASA E SERVICIOS que escribió en 1548 GONZALO FERNÁNDEZ DE OVIEDO Y VALDÉS. El objeto científico es la sociología histórica. El objetivo prioritario es la estructura social, el desarrollo de la vida cotidiana en la Cámara del Príncipe, que por ocupar y desenvolverse en un espacio social, histórico, político y laboral en un tiempo determinado considero un micro-cosmos que me permite formular proposiciones y conclusiones. Se trata de descubrir las relaciones e interrelaciones de ese grupo humano. Podremos conocer: la importancia de los cargos que se ocupan, las funciones atribuidas a cada oficio; los procedimientos de selección y las diferentes clases de retribuciones; los protocolos y etiquetas utilizados. Los comportamientos y pautas de conducta se derivan de la sociedad estamental, patriarcal, extensa y sacralizada y se pueden encuadrar en cuatro grandes bloques: primero, las que implican aceptación del modelo social, integración comunitaria; segundo, las que refieren asunción de las exigencias y vínculos convencionales; tercero, las que significan la defensa del sistema y cuarto, las que establecen compensación y reconocimiento de los servicios prestados. Se resaltan los valores - contravalores y los tipos o modelos, así como los estereotipos y pautas culturales. No se olvidan en esta exposición a personajes centrales de nuestra Historia, como son la Reina Católica y el Príncipe Dn Juan, ni al sistema de gobierno: una Monarquía, unos Reyes, varios Reinos

    Kurzfassung: Die Autorin Sylka SCHOLZ analysiert auf der Grundlage lebensgeschichtlicher Interviews, wie ostdeutsche Männer die Transformation des Erwerbssystems nach dem Zusammenbruch der DDR verarbeiten. Ihr Interesse richtet sich auf drei komplexe Forschungsfragen, die sie im Laufe ihrer Untersuchung weiter ausdifferenziert. Erstens: Wie (re-)konstruieren die Männer ihre Identität? Männlichkeit betrachtet sie dabei als einen zentralen Konstruktionsmodus von Identität. Zweitens: Welche Bedeutung haben Interviewende und deren Geschlecht als "Co-Produzenten" des Interviews in diesem Prozess? In diesem Zusammenhang hinterfragt sie die Methode des narrativen Interviews kritisch als eine soziale Praxis der Konstruktion von Biographie, Identität und Geschlecht und untersucht die Bedeutung des oder der Interviewenden in diesem Prozess. Drittens: Inwiefern lassen sich individuelle und gesellschaftliche Veränderungsprozesse von Männlichkeitskonstruktionen zeigen, die unter den spezifischen Bedingungen in der DDR entstanden sind? Hier nimmt sie die Verarbeitungen der Ambivalenzen und Widersprüche aus der staatlich forcierten Gleichberechtigung der Geschlechter durch die interviewten Männer in den Blick. Mit ihrer Untersuchung verortet sie sich im Kontext einer sozialkonstruktivistisch orientierten Biographieforschung, in der (geschlechtersensiblen) Transformationsforschung nach 1989 sowie in der Geschlechter- bzw. Männlichkeitsforschung.

    Kurzfassung: Klappentext: Die DuMont-Forschungsreihe MEDIOLOGIE: Die politischen Ideologien, besonders des 20. Jahrhunderts, verlockten zur Bildung von Gesinnungsgemeinschaften, zur Bestimmung von Freund und Feind. In diesem Kontext schillert der politische Seitenwechsel in vielen Farben: Bekehrung und Denunziation, enttäuschte Verweigerung, Spaltung und Spionage. Die Medientheorien des 20. Jahrhunderts bildeten sich zwischen sozialen Modellen und ihren politischen Anwendungen. Der Seitenwechsel stand im Zentrum der Theoriebildung: in der teilnehmenden Beobachtung von Propaganda und Massenmedien, Kriegstechnik und Pazifismus, Werbung und Konsumkritik. Was wird aus diesem politischen Kern der Medien und der Medientheorie nach dem Kalten Krieg und im 21. Jahrhundert? Ist die Rede vom Verrat noch eine tragende politische Größe, etwa in der Enttäuschung über staatliche und wirtschaftliche Versprechen? Und welche Rolle spielen mediale Feindbilder heute in den Widersprüchen der Weltgesellschaft etwa wenn man George Bush und Osama Bin Ladin aus nigerianischer Perspektive verfolgt? Die Herausgeber: Cornelia Epping-Jäger ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Kulturwissenschaftlichen Forschungskolleg der Universität zu Köln. Ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind Mediengeschichte und Medientheorie. Torsten Hahn ist Wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Institut für deutsche Sprache und Literatur der Universität zu Köln. Sein aktueller Arbeitsschwerpunkt ist Literatur um 1800 als Gesellschaftsbobachtung. Erhard Schüttpelz war von 1998 bis 2003 Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Kulturwissenschaftlichen Forschungskolleg "Medien und kulturelle Kommunikation" der Universität zu Köln. Er ist derzeit Koordinator der Forschungsstelle "Kulturtheorie und Theorie des politischen Imaginären" an der Universität Konstanz. Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Medienanthropologie und Weltliteratur.

    Anmerkung: Medien sind Risiken und Ressourcen für das Aufwachsen von Kindern. Sozialisation in einer von Medien geprägten Gesellschaft heißt, einen kompetenten Medienumgang zu lernen und sich das eigene Selbst- und Weltbild medial vermittelt anzueignen. In gängigen Sozialisationstheorien werden die Medien meist nur am Rande behandelt. Hier wird eine Mediensozialisationstheorie skizziert, welche Konzepte der Sozialisation, des gesellschaftlichen Wandels und des Wandels im Medienumfeld integriert. Als empirische Basis werden repräsentative Befunde zum Medienumgang von Heranwachsenden aus der Schweiz von den 1970er-Jahren bis zur Jahrtausendwende vorgestellt und Vergleiche zu internationalen Daten gezogen. Aus dem Vergleich der Mediensozialisation von drei Generationen werden Konstanten und Wandel herausgearbeitet. Die Arbeit wurde mit dem UBS-Habilitationspreis der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Zürich ausgezeichnet

    Kurzfassung: Diese Dissertation behandelt ein Thema, das in der internationalen Humboldtforschung bislang wenig Beachtung gefunden hat: Der lebenslange Bezug Alexander von Humboldts zu Spanien im Anschluss an seinen dortigen Aufenthalt im Frühjahr 1799, das von ihm propagierte Spanienbild, sowie die Rezeptionsgeschichte seiner Person in diesem Land während des 19. Jahrhunderts. Um die Doppelseitigkeit dieses Wahrnehmungsprozesses zu betonen, werden hierbei beide Seiten separat analysiert: In Bezug auf Humboldt wird unterschieden zwischen seinem Blick auf das für ihn zeitgenössische Spanien einerseits, und seiner Auseinandersetzung mit den Werken der ersten spanischen Chronisten andererseits. Hinsichtlich der Rezeption seiner Person in der spanischen Gesellschaft werden unterschiedliche Blickwinkel analysiert: die spanische Presse, einzelne Verteter der wissenschaftlichen bzw. intellektuellen Welt, wissenschaftliche Institutionen, die Editions- und Rezeptionsgeschichte seiner Schriften, sowie schlieβlich die Wahrnehmung seiner Person im politischen Sektor Spaniens. Hierbei wurde ein zwischen der Ethnologie und der Geschichtswissenschaft angesiedelter interdisziplinärer Ansatz vertreten.
    Kurzfassung: This dissertation deals with a topic which has heretofore received little attention in the international study of Humboldt: Alexander von Humboldt's lifelong relationship with Spain following his stay there in early 1799; the perception of Spain that he propagated; and his reception in that country in the 19th century. In order to emphasize the dual nature of this perception process, each facet will be analyzed separately: On the one hand, Humboldt's view of Spain in his time, and on the other his agreement with the works of the first Spanish chroniclers. Differing viewpoints will be analyzed with regard to Humboldt's reception in Spanish society: the Spanish press; individual representatives of the scientific and intellectual communities; scientific institutions; the reception of different editions of his writings; and finally the perception of Humboldt in Spain's political arena. This dissertation represents an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating elements of both ethnology and history.

    Kurzfassung: Eine der zentralen Debatten der Cultural Studies beschäftigt sich mit dem Zusammenspiel von Medien und Identität. Die vorliegende Aufsatzsammlung liefert hier einen neuen Ansatzpunkt, indem ihre Beiträge Medien als Konstrukteure von Identitätsräumen verstehen. Unter dieser Perspektive werden folgende Themen behandelt: Welche »spaces of identity« ergeben sich aufgrund der medientechnologischen Entwicklungen? Kommt es zu einem Wiederaufleben nationaler Identitätsräume? Werden transnationale bzw. translokale Verortungen sichtbar? Welche Körper werden in den Medien repräsentiert und welche Geschlechterkonstruktionen werden damit vermittelt? Welcher Art sind die Identitätsräume, die im Cyberspace und in dessen virtuellen Umgebungen angeboten werden? Welche Bedeutung kommt Verstörungen normativer Muster durch die medialen Präsentationen von Homosexuellen und Transgenders zu? Mit diesen Fragestellungen gibt der Band spannende Impulse zu den Cultural Studies wie auch zu den theoretisch avancierten Gender und Media Studies.

Drittens wird die Wechselwirkung Soziologie - Praxis theoretisch diskutiert und das Verhältnis Soziologie - Politik - gesellschaftlicher Wandel in der VR China untersucht. Dort wendet sich die zunehmend selbstbewusste Soziologie an Politik und Gesellschaft, welche zur neuen Definitionsmacht gegenüber der Politik wird.

    Kurzfassung: Die wissenschaftliche Analyse der Mediengesellschaft ist häufig normativ geprägt. Dementsprechend vorhersehbar und unbefriedigend sind ihre Befunde und Deutungen.     Kurzfassung: Ina Weigelt beschäftigt sich mit dem "Problem" Hooligans. Dabei versucht sie nicht, sich an gängigen Klischees entlang zu hangeln, sondern vielmehr durch Zusammentragen unterschiedlichster Quellen ein wahrheitsgemäßes Bild der Subkultur zu zeichnen. Die besonderen Spezifika und Verhaltensweisen der "Hools" (u. a. äußerliche Erscheinung, Hierarchisierung, Alkohol- und Drogenkonsum, Männlichkeit und Körperlichkeit, Freund- und Feindschaften etc.) werden - frei von Vorurteilen -ausführlich beschrieben. Die besonderen Probleme dieser Subkultur werden ebenfalls angesprochen, so z. B. das Bild der Frau innerhalb der Szene, die Rolle der Medien bei der Gewaltentstehung und die politische Orientierung der Hools. Des Weiteren werden die Geschichte und Entwicklungen der Subkultur näher beleuchtet; einschließlich eines Ost-West-Vergleiches. Bei der Ursachenforschung trägt die Autorin die verschiedensten Expertenmeinungen zusammen, um der Bandbreite der möglichen Gründe für Zuschauerausschreitungen bei sportlichen Großereignissen auf die Spur zu kommen. Schließlich werden die Präventionsmaßnahmen - praktiziert durch die Sozialarbeit, die Polizei, den Staat, die Ordner und die Vereine/den DFB - einer Analyse unterzogen. Für alle, die sich mit dem Phänomen Fußballausschreitungen beschäftigen wollen (oder müssen), ist dieses Buch eine gelungene Zusammenstellung der Aspekte der Subkultur.

    Kurzfassung: The nineteenth century, a time of far-reaching cultural, political, and socio-economic transformation in Europe, brought about fundamental changes in the role of women. Women achieved this by fighting for their rights in the legal, economic, and political spheres. In the various parts of Europe, this process went forward at different paces and followed different patterns. Most historical research up to now has ignored this diversity, preferring to focus on women's emancipation movements in major western European countries such as Britain and France. The present volume provides a broader context to the movement by including countries, both large and small, from all regions of Europe. Fourteen historians, all of them specialists in women's history, examine the origins and development of women's emancipation movements in their respective areas of expertise. By exploring the cultural and political diversity of nineteenth-century Europe and at the same time pointing out connections to questions explored by conventional scholarship, the essays shed new light on common developments and problems

    Kurzfassung: Information and computer technologies are used every day by real people with real needs. The authors contributing to Shaping the Network Society describe how technology can be used effectively by communities, activists, and citizens to meet society's challenges. In their vision, computer professionals are concerned less with bits, bytes, and algorithms and more with productive partnerships that engage both researchers and community activists. These collaborations are producing important sociotechnical work that will affect the future of the network society. Traditionally, academic research on real-world users of technology has been neglected or even discouraged. The authors contributing to this book are working to fill this gap; their theoretical and practical discussions illustrate a new orientation -- research that works with people in their natural social environments, uses common language rather than rarefied academic discourse, and takes a pragmatic perspective. The topics they consider are key to democratization and social change.     Kurzfassung: The prime focus on the social processes of schooling within educational ethnography has tended to marginalise or eschew the importance of other 'informal' educational sites. Other social institutions, such as family, community, media and popular culture, work and prisons are salient arenas in which behaviours and lives are regulated.     Kurzfassung: st th The 21 century is the century of Asia in the same way the 20 century was of America. In terms of urbanization challenges Asia in the current century is faced with an enormous surge of urban population and the associated problems of rural –urban migration, overcrowding, proliferation of slums, housing shortage, growing unempl- ment and underemployment and choice between capital intensive productivity vs. labor intensive employment generation, suffocating pollution caused by both industries and motor vehicle fumes, crumbling urban facilities and education / health care systems and above all mind boggling poverty. While facing these challenges many bright urbani- tion aspects may also be noted –efficient mass transport systems of Japan, banning of leaded fuels for motor vehicles in Indian mega cities, formation and operation of metro –planning organizations, linking rural/urban development and a general consciousness of urban problems, recognization and efforts to resolve them. This book pioneers the analysis and research effort on urbanization in Asia in the st 21 century in light of new and continued challenges. It is a part of a continuum that emanates from the selected papers at the Sixth Asian Urbanization Conference (AUC) held in Chennai (Madras), India in January 2000. AUC is organized almost every third year. The Asian Urbanization Research Organization (AURA) headquartered at The University of Akron’s Department of Geography and Planning plans such conferences.

    Kurzfassung: Bioethicists, moral philosophers and social policy analysts have long debated about how we should decide who shall be saved with scarce, lifesaving resources when not all can be saved. It is often claimed that it is fairer to save younger persons and that age is an ethically relevant consideration in such tragic decisions. Medical benefit should be maximized and final selection should aim to minimize the contaminating influence of chance. These claims are challenged by Duff R. Waring in Medical Benefit and the Human Lottery, one of the few books that attempts a sustained defence of random patient selection. This book combines ethics and political philosophy in its novel and strict egalitarian approach to patient selection for transplantable organs. Waring addresses the question of whether we should choose between lives on the basis of fair chances or best outcomes. He argues that final selection criteria should be based on fair chances that equalize opportunity as opposed to best outcomes. His defence of "hardy" egalitarianism aims to show that random selection by lottery can affirm both a common humanity and the equal value of lives. The notion of patient selection by lottery has not fared well in bioethics and has been regarded by some as a moral affront. Waring argues that a human selection lottery may be neither as crude nor as ethically anomalous as some have supposed. Indeed, it can reflect a familiar conception of equality as a political and moral ideal. This conception abstracts from many undeniable differences between patients and claims that scarce resources should be allocated on the principled assumption that each of their lives is equally worth saving. The book is also notable for its critiques of some recent utilitarian notions of medical benefit which can have an age-biased impact on elderly patients. Waring then argues against the leading, contemporary age-based approaches to patient selection. He explores the way random selection by lottery can affirm his egalitarian ethos in cases where eligible transplant candidates have each passed a threshold level of prospective medical benefit that has been set by democratic deliberation. Taming chance with a human lottery is defended as the most lucid means of ensuring equal opportunity. In so doing, Waring argues that we give the principle of equal concern and respect a radical expression: above a noncomparative threshold of medical benefit, each candidate can have an equal claim to life.

    Kurzfassung: Arnd Uhle untersucht das Verhältnis von freiheitlichem Verfassungsstaat und kultureller Identität, das bislang kaum – wenn, dann lediglich partiell – erforscht wurde. Der Autor beleuchtet die Relevanz der kulturellen Identität für Entstehung, Gestalt und Fortbestand des freiheitlichen Verfassungsstaates aus verfassungstheoretischer, aus verfassungsrechtlicher und schließlich aus europarechtlicher Perspektive.Bereits aus verfassungstheoretischer Sicht ergibt sich dabei, daß die kulturelle Identität gleichermaßen Entstehungs- wie auch Geltungsbedingung freiheitlicher Verfassungsstaatlichkeit ist, weil der freiheitliche Staat in vielfältiger Weise an die kulturelle Identität anknüpft. Eine Betrachtung aus verfassungsrechtlicher Perspektive unterstreicht diesen Befund und belegt, daß namentlich das deutsche Grundgesetz in einer prima facie zwar komplex und unüberschaubar erscheinenden, letztlich aber systematisch geordneten und differenzierenden Weise an die kulturelle Identität anknüpft – und diese angesichts ihrer Bedeutung für den dauerhaften Fortbestand des freiheitlichen Verfassungsstaates überdies durch das in der Habilitationsschrift erstmals entfaltete grundgesetzliche Staatsziel der Vitalität und Dauerhaftigkeit der freiheitlichen Verfassungsordnung mit verfassungsrechtlichem Schutz umhegt. In der Konsequenz dieses Staatsziels ist der grundgesetzgebundene Staat zur Pflege und zum Schutz der kulturellen Identität verpflichtet. Eine abschließende europarechtliche Betrachtung verdeutlicht, daß die grundgesetzliche Anknüpfung an die kulturelle Identität wie auch deren verfassungsrechtliche Sicherung den Schutz des Art. 6 Abs.3 EUV genießen, der die Achtung der nationalen Identität anordnet.

    Kurzfassung: The book presents a unique combination of the study of contemporary and historical practices between Asia and Europe and brings forth some of the latest thinking on the subject. Recent debates have centered primarily on contemporary aspects of the Europe-Asia partnership in terms of international relations and economic linkages. The present volume complements this political and economic interest in Europe-Asia relationship by focusing on the academic, social and cultural connections between the two regions. The contributions in this volume have a contemporary focus but contextualize the themes within a historical perspective. They deal with academic discourses on the region, on modernity and entrepreneurship; they discuss the long-term exchange of knowledge in specific scientific fields; and they focus on the cultural interconnections in the area of film, literature and migration. The originality of this book lies in its interdisciplinary approach to the question of Asia-Europe and in its emphasis on the multifaceted complexity of the relationship between these two regions. It brings together the diversity of local histories, ideas, and agencies in both Europe and Asia into a universal project of knowledge formation in order to reveal their contribution to the making of the world we are in.     Kurzfassung: HauptbeschreibungSie wurden als "Bastard", "Bankert" oder "Hurenkind" beschimpft: Uneheliche Kinder. Sie und ihre Mütter waren in der deutschen Gesellschaft über einen langen Zeitraum hinweg geächtet. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde Unehelichkeit vornehmlich mit Armut, Kriminalität und Verwahrlosung in Verbindung gebracht. Uneheliche Kinder erschienen als eine sittliche Gefährdung der bürgerlichen Familie, ja sogar als existentielle Bedrohung der Gesellschaft. Sybille Buske untersucht die rechtliche und gesellschaftliche Stellung nichtehelicher Kinder und ihrer Eltern vom Kaiserreich bis in die Bundesrepublik. Die sechziger Jahre erfahren dabei besondere Beachtung, denn dieses Jahrzehnt brachte tiefgreifende Um- und Aufbrüche: Nach zähem politischem Ringen wurde die Reform des Unehelichenrechts auf den Weg gebracht. Ziel war es, den Kindern und Eltern mehr Rechte zuzuerkennen und ihre gesellschaftliche Diskriminierung zu beenden. Erstmals in der langen Geschichte der Unehelichkeit konnten ledige Mütter in eigener Sache gesellschaftlich und politisch gestaltend wirken. Der veränderte Umgang mit Unehelichkeit erschließt exemplarisch Dimensionen und Dynamik gesellschaftlicher Wandlungsprozesse in Westdeutschland. Der diachrone Ansatz der Studie ermöglicht, den Wandel der sechziger Jahre im Kontext des Jahrhunderts zu gewichten und seine Ergebnisse kritisch zu reflektieren. Somit erweitert Sybille Buske den historischen Zugang zur Veränderung der politischen Kultur in (West-) deutschland, zum Wandel der Gesellschaft und ihrer normativen Grundlagen.     Kurzfassung: Ethnic/racial relations have been a perennial theme in Southeast Asian studies. Current events have highlighted the tensions among ethnicgroups and the need to maintain ethnic/racial harmony for national unity. This book analyses ethnic/race relations in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with special reference to the roles of ethnic Chinese in nation-building. It brings together a group of established Southeast Asian scholars to critically examine some of the important issues such as ethnic politics, nation-building, state policies, and conflict resolution. These scholars of different ethnic origins present their own ethnic perspectives and hence make the book unique. This is the most up-to-date book on ethnic/racial relations with special reference to the ethnic Chinese in three Southeast Asian countries

    Kurzfassung: This report opens with an overview of bilateral agreements and other forms of labour recruitment of foreigners in several OECD countries (Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States) as well as in the Philippines and Romania. It then has a series of chapters describing the management and implementation of these practices and analysing the impact of these agreements on labour markets, economic development and migration policies of both sending and receiving countries. It also examines the prospects for this type of migration. The Annex lists the principal agreements signed by OECD countries, by type of recruitment scheme (e.g. seasonal, contract workers, trainees and guest workers).

    Kurzfassung: Das Ziel der Studie ist es, das komplexe Phänomen sogenannter anonymer Begräbnisse als Erfahrung und als kulturelle Konstruktion lesbar zu machen. Sie geht dabei von zutiefst vergeschlechtlichten familienbezogenen und öffentlich-nationalen sepulkralen Repräsentationen aus, die sich ins kollektive Gedächtnis der westlichen Moderne eingeschrieben haben und sich bis heute in sozialen und symbolischen Ordnungen reformulieren. Die Arbeit kombiniert qualitativ-empirisch kultur- und sozial-theoretische Positionen und Methoden und führt selbst erhobenes Primärmaterial aus heterogenen Quellen zusammen. Frauen und Männer erzählen zu ihrer Motivation, das eigene Grab als anonymes zu bestimmen, und von ihrer Erinnerungsvorsorge, die ein individuelles Bezeichnen einer Grablage entbehrlich werden lässt. Nahestehende und Friedhofsbeschäftigte erlauben Einblicke in alltägliche Aneignungs- und Gestaltungsweisen dieser Grabform. Erinnerungsgegenstände und Trauerutensilien belegen spielerisch erfinderische Formen symbolischer Kommunikationen mit Toten. Der mehrperspektivische, kulturanalytisch ethnographische Zugang macht alltagsweltliches Wissen zu Sterben und Begraben wie zu Vergehen und Überdauern anschaulich und stellt es dem kulturpessimistischen Gestus des Forschungsstands an die Seite. Anonyme Gräber sind in traditionelle wie in individuell modellierte Praktiken, Materialien und visuelle Medien eingebettet, die sie auf unterschiedlichste Weise bedeuten und wirken lassen. Die Grabform gibt Auskunft über das spannungsvolle Verhältnis zwischen dem Wunsch, lebhaft erinnert oder still vergessen zu sein, und zwischen dem Unvordenklichen individueller Deutungen gegenüber den beharrlichen Setzungen des kulturellen Rahmens. 〈dt.〉
    Kurzfassung: This study is a reading of so-called anonymous burials and connected practices of remembering as a form of individual experience and cultural construction. In modern western culture, private and public sepulchral representations can be considered as gendered and connotated as female. As practices they have become part of the collective memory and are constantly reshaped in the context of social and symbolic orders. The study combines qualitative-empirical methods with the perspectives of cultural and social theories and brings together primary material of heterogeneous origins. Women and men speak about their motivations to be buried in an anonymous grave and about their managing of ways to be remembered which can dispense with the individual signing of a burial place. Close friends and cemetery-workers allow insights in every-day routines of appropriation and arrangements with this kind of burial practice. Objects of remembering and mourning verify symbolic communication with the dead in a playful an inventive manner. The multiperspective and ethnographic approach works out common knowledge about dying and burying, vanishing and outlasting and contrasts it with the pessimistic views of civilisation in the current theoretical research of burial cultures. Anonymous graves are considered as imbedded in traditional and individually modelled practices, materials and visual media. Hence the graves accumulate different effects and meanings. The form of tombs informs about a highly charged relationship between the wish to be kept alive by being remembered or to be quietly forgotten and the unpredictability of individual understanding and persistent determination by the cultural framework. 〈engl.〉
