    Abstract: In 1998, the discovery of a gold mine in the village of V3 Dimouon in the province of Loba, Burkina Faso, initiated a veritable "gold rush". In the village, where Mossi and Dagara farmers co-reside, the arrival of thousands of gold-diggers led to the creation of a new settlement named "Sanmatenga", which in Mooré means "land of gold". The village people as well as the representative of the gold-diggers recount the discovery of the gold vein. The film follows the different steps of exploiting the gold and shows everyday life in Sanmatenga.

    Abstract: Historische Rekonstruktion der Aufnahmen Wegners aus Bolivien, Peru und Mexiko (Yucatan). Die Aufnahmen zeigen Tänze der Sirionós und den Macheterotanz der Mojos, sie dokumentieren das Alltagsleben der Chimanen, die Feierlichkeiten zum Nationalfeiertag und das Fest zur Ehren Nuestra Senora de las Nieves in Copacabana. Es folgen Aufnahmen vom Markt in La Paz und aus Yucatan. Ergänzend zu dieser Kurzfassung liegt eine ausführliche Edition des Quellenmaterials vor, die im IWF-Archiv einsehbar ist (Film A 7062).
    Abstract: Reconstruction of Wegner's footage from Bolivia, Peru and Mexico (Yucatan). The footage shows dances of the Sirionos the Mojos performing their Machetero dance. It documents the daily life of the Chimanes, the festivities of the national holiday and the feast of Nuestra Senora de las Nieves in Copacabana. Finally there are scenes from the market of La Paz and the ruins of Yucatan. In addition to this short film there exists an edition of the whole material, which can be viewed in the IWF archive (film A 7062).

    Abstract: Im Jahr 1998 wurde in einem Dorf im Südwesten Burkina Fasos eine Goldader entdeckt. Auf der Suche nach dem schnellen Geld strömten mehrere tausend Personen in das Dorf. Eine neue Siedlung entstand: "Sanmatenga" - "Goldland". Die Geschichte der Entdeckung, der Goldbergbau und der Lebensstil der Goldgräber werden aus der Sicht von Dorfbewohnern und Goldgräbern geschildert.

    Abstract: Quellenedition der Aufnahmen Wegners aus Bolivien, Peru und Mexiko (Yucatan). Aufnahmen der Sirionos zeigen das Einreiben mit Pflanzenfarbe, Männer- und Frauentanz und ein Pflegekind. Mit Boot und Ochsenkarren geht es weiter zu den Mojos: Aufführung des Macheterotanzes. Die bedeutendsten Aufnahmen entstanden bei den Chimanen und dokumentieren Hüttenbau, Pfeil- und Bogenherstellung, Töpfern, Spinnen, Weben, Rindenbastherstellung, Giftfischen, Feuerquirlen, Maismehlsieben, Essen und Lausen. Es folgen Aufnahmen von verschiedenen Festen (Nationalfeiertag, Marienfest) mit Tanz- und Musikgruppen, vom Markt in La Paz und aus Yucatan. Das bisher unveröffentlichte Ausgangsmaterial (44 Rollen Negativ-Nitro), das im Dresdner Museum für Völkerkunde lagerte, wurde auf Video Beta-SP transferiert, mit Hilfe der Schriften und Fotographien Wegners analysiert und in einer rekonstruierten Zeitenfolge montiert. Die Einstellungen wurden in Originallänge belassen, beschrieben und annotiert. Eine quellenkritische Analyse erfolgte im Rahmen einer Magisterarbeit. Die vorliegende Edition kann im IWF-Archiv eingesehen werden. Eine Kurzfassung der Aufnahmen ist im Vertrieb verfügbar: Film C 7061.

    Abstract: Das Entlebuch ist eine voralpine, ländliche Region in der Innerschweiz, der der Ruf der Zurückgebliebenheit und Weltabgeschiedenheit anhaftet. Der Film thematisiert das Verhältnis der Entlebucher zu Identität, Glaube und Aberglaube im Spannungsfeld zwischen Tradition und Moderne. Die Erzählungen der Protagonisten und die Schilderung ihrer Lebenswelten machen die Bandbreite der unterschiedlichen Orientierungen deutlich und ermöglichen einen Zugang zur regionalen Identität des Tales.
    Abstract: The Entlebuch is a pre-alpine rural area in Central Switzerland with a reputation for backwardness and isolation. This film deals with the region's inhabitants and their attitudes towards identity, belief and superstition in their contemporary life between tradition and modernity. The tales and stories of the various protagonists about their own lives show the broad range of attitudes and provide an insight into the regional identity of the valley.

    Abstract: Der spanische Jakobsweg hat eine bald 1000jährige Tradition und spiegelt in seiner historischen Entwicklung ein wichtiges Kapitel europäischer Geschichte wider. Auf den Spuren heutiger Pilger dokumentiert der Film einzelne Streckenabschnitte und Stationen, zeigt mittelalterliche Kirchen, Brücken und Spitäler. In zahlreichen Interviews fragt er nach der aktuellen Gestaltung und Pflege des Weges sowie nach der Bedeutung für die Pilger. Priester, Hoteliers, Herbergseltern, Funktionäre und hohe Würdenträger äußern sich zu ihren Aktivitäten zu Erhaltung und Erneuerung seiner Infrastruktur.
    Abstract: The Spanish Way of St. James has almost 1000 years of tradition and its historical development reflects an important chapter in European history. In the footsteps of today's pilgrims, the film documents individual sections and stations, shows medieval churches, bridges and hospitals. In numerous interviews, it asks about the current design and maintenance of the route as well as the importance for the pilgrims. Priests, hoteliers, hostel parents, officials and high dignitaries comment on their activities to maintain and renew its infrastructure. Some historical recordings document the tradition and change of this path, which is a World Heritage Site.

    Abstract: Als in den 1970er Jahren der Seespiegel des Tschadsees sank, wurde am nigerianischen Ufer ein breiter Streifen fruchtbaren Landes vom Wasser freigegeben. Auf dem ehemaligen Seeboden entstanden zahlreiche Dörfer. Siedler unterschiedlicher Herkunft ließen sich hier nieder. In der trockenen Sahelzone verspricht das Wasser des Tschadsees Fischern, Bauern und Händlern ein ganzjähriges Einkommen. Während manche noch heute vom schnellen Geld träumen, haben sich andere am Tschadsee eine sichere Existenz aufgebaut. Der Film zeigt das Alltagsleben in zwei Tschadseedörfern. In Zentrum stehen vier Unternehmer - zwei Frauen und zwei Männer, die auf je unterschiedliche Weise erfolgreich wirtschaften.
    Abstract: When the level of Lake Chad sank during the 1970s, a wide strip of fertile land was exposed on the Nigerian shore. A considerable number of villages sprang up on the banks of the former lake and peoples of various origins settled there. In the dry Sahel zone the waters of Lake Chad offer fishermen, farmers and tradesmen the prospect of a good income the whole year round. While some still only dream of making easy money, others have laid the foundations of a secure livelihood. The film shows daily life in two villages on the shores of Lake Chad, focussing on four entrepreneurs - two women and two men - each one successfully conducting business in his or her own way.

Siguiendo los pasos de los peregrinos de hoy, la película documenta secciones individuales de la ruta y estaciones, muestra iglesias, puentes y hospitales medievales. En numerosas entrevistas pregunta sobre el diseño y mantenimiento actual del camino, así como su significado para los peregrinos. Sacerdotes, hoteleros, padres del albergue, funcionarios y altos dignatarios comentan sus actividades para mantener y renovar su infraestructura.

    Abstract: Patamban is a village specialized in pottery. The work in the pottery is done mainly by women, alongside their other duties such as cooking, washing, cleaning etc. The men work mainly in the fields, but also in the pottery. The involvement of all generations allows fast reactions to changes in the market. Includes an interview with Genoveva Ruíz, one of the most successful pottery-makers, about her work and family.
