Abstract:
Reiterprozession am sog. Blutfreitag (Freitag nach Christi Himmelfahrt): Flurumritt mit einer Heiligblut-Reliquie, an dem ca. 100 Reitergruppen mit über 2000 Reitern teilnehmen. Wesentliche Phasen des Brauchs: Ankunft der Reiter, Sammlung, Prozession durch die Stadt und die angrenzenden Felder, Wettersegen am Altar, Rückkehr in die Basilika.
Abstract:
The film is a comprehensive documentation of the so-called "blood riders" ceremonial procession which is held on the first friday of the Crist's Ascension. The film explains the meaning of the ceremony and describes all details: the preparation, the assembly of the horsemen, the procession around the fields when the holy-blood relic is carried along, prayer for favourable wheather and finally the return to the cathedral.
