Abstract:
Zwei Brüder aus Patan bearbeiten ein Ziegenfell, schneiden es zurecht und ziehen es auf den faßförmigen Korpus, der aus einem Stück Holz geschnitzt worden ist. Nach dem Auftragen der Stimmpaste werden die Felle durch Nachziehen der Spannriemen gestimmt. Anschließend wird das Instrument ausprobiert.
Abstract:
Skins and bracing cords of the small, barrel-shaped drum madal are cut out of a cleaned and dried goatskin and put on the body carved in one piece. Both skins are smeared with the black tuning-paste. The skins are tuned by bracing up the bracing cords. Finally the drum is beaten by the drum-maker, a member of the Kullu caste.
