    Kurzfassung: One week before Ash Wednesday, Shrovetide is proclaimed out of a waggon in various places of the town of Wolfach. After the "Eleven o'clock Mass" on the following "Dirty Thursday" pretzels are distributed to the children. The procession of the coffee-party tabbies takes place in the afternoon of the same day. Shrovetide proper is opened on Shrove Monday by the so-called "Well-awake", a historical custom meant to wake up the fools. The big Shrove Monday procession in the afternoon is followed by the Shrovetide play about the abduction and the liberation of the gipsy princess. On Shrove Thuesday, the children have a procession of their own during which the Pretzel Fool is carried along. Towards the evening, the Procession of the Noses is passing through the streets; women disguised as males that have been practicipating are plunged into the fountain. Shrovetide ends on Ash Wednesday when the fool break into lamentations at the Wailing Wall and are then going to wash their money-bags in the fountain.

    Kurzfassung: Auf dem Dorfplatz von Malingdam/Imarin, wo sich die Männer aufhalten, stellt ein Mann aus Kalzitplatten durch Ritzen mit Steinsplittern eine Nasenstabrohform her. Als die Rohform zerbricht, arbeitet er an einer neuen, die er anschließend am Bach naß schleift und poliert. Um ihn herum finden andere Aktivitäten statt: Flechten, Faserherstellung, Gesichtsbemalung, Körperreinigung, Haarscheren, Maultrommelspiel, Gesang usw.
    Kurzfassung: A man is sitting on the village ground, the meeting place of men. Using chips of broken stones he carves a nose sticks out of a piece of calcite stone. The calcite breaks and he carves another one. Afterwards he grinds and polishes it at the streamlet. Around him the other men are busy with plaiting, making fibres, face painting, body cleaning, hairshearing, playing a jew's harp, singing, etc.

    Kurzfassung: Durch Umwickeln von Wurzelfasersträngen mit weichen Rindenbastfasern stellt ein 14jähriger Junge in Malingdam/Imarin einen Nackenschmuck her. Der Schmuck wird mit Latex grundiert, mit Holzkohle und roter Erdfarbe bemalt und mit Federn verziert. An der Arbeit beteiligen sich mehrere Männer. Der Mum wird von Männern nach Abschluß der Pubertät, vor allem bei Tanzfesten, getragen.
    Kurzfassung: By wrapping soft bark fibres around the strings of root fibres a fourteen-year-old boy makes a back ornament. He then spreads it with latex, paints it with charcoal and red ochre, and decorates it with feathers. Several people participate in the work. The mum is worn by men after puberty and put on for dance festivals.

    Kurzfassung: Asin, ein 16jähriger Junge aus einem Nachbartal (Siferuk), ist mit Verwandten und Freunden zu Besuch nach Munggona gekommen, wo er vor einiger Zeit initiiert wurde. Der Besuch dient der zeremoniellen Abgeltung der Initiation. Er überreicht seinem damaligen Betreuer eine breite Stirnbinde aus Nassa-Schnecken. Als Gegengabe erhält er Schweinefett.
    Kurzfassung: Accompanied by his relatives and friends a young man of sixteen has arrived for a visit from the neighbouring valley to Munggona, where he has been initiated a short time ago. The purpose of this visit therefore implies the ceremonial compensation for the initiation. As a gift the young man hands over a broad forehead band covered with thin slices of the shells of Nassa-snails to the man who had taken care of him during his initiation. As a return present he gets some pig's fat.

Der Brand wird gelöscht, der Schaden gleich behoben.

On the meeting place of men different kinds of work are done: weaving a forehead band, carving an arrow tip, etc. Suddenly a house has caught fire. The flames are put out, the damage is immediately repaired.

Zuletzt bringt die Frau lange Bänder an und legt die fertige Krone in eine Schachtel.
    Kurzfassung: The film summarizes the making of a bridal crown, a procedure which lasts about 3 days. At first, bay means of a doubling machine, small filaments are twisted together and mirrors and various pearls are fixed onto these "stalks". A number of small "summer nosegaies", consisting of these pearl bouquets and knots, are fixed and tied together on the ornamented cardboard ring, which is already covered with fabrics. Finally long ribbons are added, falling down over the back.

    Kurzfassung: An den Vorabenden des Nikolaustages geht eine Gruppe bestehend aus dem hl. Nikolaus, einer zweiten Nikolausfigur, einer Figur mit Tierkopfmaske (dem Klausenbigger) und einer Figur in Fellgewand (dem Rubelz) von Haus zu Haus. Der hl. Nikolaus sagt einen Spruch auf, der Nikolausbegleiter beschenkt die Kinder und der Rubelz droht ihnen. Der Klausenbigger hat keine aktive Funktion.
    Kurzfassung: On the eve of St. Nicholas day (December 6th) a group of mummed young men goes from house to house. The group consists of St. Nicholas, a second Nicholas figure, a figure with an animal mask (the Klausenbigger, which lent the custom its name), and a figure with fur clothing, the so-called Rubelz. In the individual houses parents and children await together the group's visit. Saint Nicholas utters a rhymed saying and then checks to see if the children have learned their prayers and songs. St. Nicholas' companion gives the children sweets, apples, and nuts and leave a switch behind. The Rubelz threatens to tie disobedient children onto his chain. During the visit the Klausenbigger has no active function. In the end, the four masked figures visit a restaurant.
