Abstract: The essay focuses on Trentin's theoretical elaboration and action in the European Parliament. Starting with his involvement in the "Spinelli Group," it analyzes the relationship between work and knowledge conceived as an in-depth study of the Lisbon program from the perspective of labor and its transformations. The socio-economic program, which was supposed to become an essential part of the program of the European Socialists for the 2004 elections, on which Trentin works, is analyzed in relation to his coeval writings (La libertà viene prima (2004) and the Keynote Lecture given at Ca'Foscari in 2002). The essay highlights the link between knowledge economy, lifelong learning, elements of socialism and analyzes the tools envisaged for the strengthening of a transparent economic governance, at the European level, in dialogue with the social partners capable of leading to a federal socialism

Abstract: Cartoline is a didactic method practised by the studies center "Yad Vashem". Starting from the observation and the study of an image, pupils and teachers think about it invlving themselves in a dynamic lesson stimulated by some guided-questions the teacher made. The teachers asked students to create a circle where some images are putted into. Students are asked to choose one of them and to write a words the image suggest them. The image is not contextualized and it shows daily item as a glass of milk or common action as petting an animal. Only afterward the teacher is going to contextualize the image: the glass of milk rapresent the amount of calories (184) assumed by prisoners in concentration camp. A discussion with students is launched

Abstract: In Italy, women have been able to graduate only since 1875; in Florence, at the end of the century, just fifteen women obtained the graduation at the Institute of Higher Studies. The Libraries of the University of Florence, heirs to the Institute, have intended to celebrate those first female graduates (1875-1940) and their stories, by cataloguing, digitalizing and publishing online their thesis. The oldest or most significant ones, with archival materials, photos and publications, have been exhibited at the Humanities Library. This volume illustrates the exposition and the outcome of this original documentation, thus allowing to define the peculiarities of the Florentine reality, offering the opportunity for further studies and giving visibility to women who have played a substantial role in the Italian culture, so as to not lose their memory

Abstract: The chapter illustrates the results of the educational use of 360° video in the field of Geomatics. Geomatics is the discipline that deals with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of spatial data with the contribution of information technologies. The GeCo Lab has been experimenting in the last few years innovative educational approaches supported by multimedia and interactive tools. The goal within the SEPA360 project has been to use the potentialities of 360° videos to simulate surveying activities, by using topography and laser scanning systems, for the documentation of built heritage, to provide teaching supporting materials for different Geomatic courses active at the University of Florence. The final outputs consist of two videos: one non-interactive with an "educational" approach, to introduce some theoretical concepts, and the other one with an "self-evaluation" purpose, with interactions, added in Vivista

Abstract: The chapter presents the case of the use of 360° video in the Digital Humanities and specifically in a lesson of the course in Historical Sciences. The 360° video provides students with both theoretical and experiential contextual information in situ. It begins with the view of Piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence (the place of the oldest settlement of the Friars Preachers in Florence and their fight against the Cathars), then it moves to the cloister to reach the Dominican Library and then to read two pages of an illuminated choral. The 360 ° video was enriched with interactive points and enjoyed by the students in a laboratory equipped with HMD. The technological and didactic solutions adopted as well as the challenges faced and related solutions are illustrated, together with some recommendations

Abstract: The physical removal from the school context due to the health emergency caused a sudden interruption, especially in an environment of exchange and relationship, creating important inconveniences on the 'well-being' of learners and teachers. Technology, which has always characterized human development, in its 'digital' dimension has triggered profound mutations, also leading to a profound reflection on teaching methods. Accepting with a critical sense and with adequate positivity the technological and digital evolutions could define a possible improvement of the educational, training and educational responses in a constantly changing social and economic ecosystem

Abstract: The chapter describes experiences of 360° videos use by the Agrismart Lab Group of the University of Florence. The Agrismart Lab Group focuses on the technological transfer of information obtained during the research phase to provide the greatest possible diffusion and dissemination of discoveries regarding the technological-digital revolution in the agricultural sector. Dissemination, applications, and teaching are the main outcomes of our research activities, and we have fully utilized the SEPA360 project's resources. In particular, the student will be able to see smart farming examples both in the field and in the immersive teaching lab having clearer theoretical notions by 360° viewers. Two case studies (tractor 4.0 and Agrobot) are included in the interactive videos, which are utilized both for learning and verification

Abstract: The Integrated Direct Digital Internship (TDDI) represented a new and important method of internship of an experimental nature (in collaboration with the Regional School Office for Tuscany) which had as its primary objective to guarantee all students the opportunity to live this fundamental pre-professional experience. The project, born almost by chance to support the condition of professional fragility caused by the pandemic, has favored the search for a new model which, through the integration of virtual methods, has expanded and enriched the training opportunities for future teachers by implementing courses unpublished. From the point of view of educational and scientific research, it was a question of experimenting, evaluating and developing differentiated professional learning practices through the comparison between innovative tools and traditional tools in order to achieve a reasoned integration

Abstract: The essay seeks to emphasize how post-World War II Italian pedagogy was renewed by opening it up to considering the educational potential of social contexts, thereby managing to connect with the most vital currents in the international debate, which were interested in deepening the school/society nexus. It grasps in Vico an extraordinary precursor of themes explored and clarified in recent times. With this choice it wants to indicate the existence of a carsic current in national reflection of great importance, to be studied, deepened and claimed in order to escape the risks of foreignness that so many of today's pedagogical studies manifest. He points out in the research of the so-called "School of Florence" the design of some very fruitful trajectories in the field of social and community pedagogy, grasping in this its specific contribution to the renewal of Italian pedagogy

Abstract: Professional practice is one of the preferred ways to produce new forms of learning. It can be configured as thinking in action, in which its implementation allows progressive adjustments of ideas that translate into doing. The use of educational pathways based on reflexivity can allow to consciously use practical experience to facilitate meaningful learnings, so that work situations become the chosen setting to act on reality and learn through it

Abstract: The essay highlights the vast inherent power of education and research on education in and for adulthood - making use of the presentation and discussion of a Case Study -. This Case Study deals with the educational needs that is for the quality of the services of an elderly home in a City in northern Italy. The Case Study was conducted consistently with the theoretical-methodological framework of Grounded Theory and Participatory Research-Action. It allows us to capture "in nuce" some of the processes of generative and human change that can be shaped by clarifying the need/willingness to make improvements at the level of In-Service Training, School Training, and the elderly home organization. In sum, it emerges an awareness of the transformative value intrinsic in the "caring" professions. Lastly, the limitations of the research - conducted in COVID-19 time - and also the multiplicity of factors that triggered this beginning of change are considered, as well as the difficult implications of this work, given the dramatic challenges of the current socio-historical and geopolitical context

Abstract: The recent Recommendations of the Ministers of the European Higher Education Area (BFUG, 2020) have highlighted how the qualification processes of university teaching are closely related to didactic approaches student’s-centered. To facilitate change actions, institutions identify mediation figures within the university with the function of managing Faculty Development actions and programs. The chapter outlines the role of the faculty developer and considers him an educational "agent of change". Faculty developers can create a network for the professional and organizational development of a university, favoring the construction of communities of practice and multi-transdisciplinary connections

Abstract: The contribution reconstructs the work of innovation carried out by Cosimo Ridolfi in the Agricultural Institute of Meleto in Val d'Elsa, as a paradigmatic example of the relationship between theory and practice and a model example of school-work alternation. Through a historical perspective, we want to highlight the educational aspects of practical and conceptual activity in practical and operational contexts, especially in agriculture, a tradition inaugurated by Ridolfi and continued by Lambruschini, which initiated a true Tuscan school of innovation in the formal learning setting of education and training that has become a European model

Abstract: The volume is made of a series of eighteen studies, all related to the key issues connected to the personal and professional path Paolo Federighi had in more than forty years. This is the time frame he dedicated to adult learning and education development, on a national level within the academic frame of the University of Florence and the institutional frame of ministries, regional and local governments, as well as on an international level being the founder and the first President of the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), the founder of the European Association of Regional and Local Authorities for Lifelong Learning (EARLALL). Every study collected in the volume provides a broad and in-depth critical reflection on adult education in Italy and an overview of adult education policies in the non-teaching contexts

Especially starting from MOOCs, this dual nature of distance learning – that of concretizer and that of reflective catalyst of adult education – are transformed into a research that touches pedagogical aspects (related to continuing education and its strategic role), teaching aspects (related to the methods of structuring training actions), but also and above all ethical-political apects, related to the democratization of Higher Education

Abstract: This essay traces Paolo Federighi's research trajectories in Learning and Education for Adults through interviews with the scholar himself conducted over the years. What emerges is a multidisciplinary and international epistemological framework within which are situated the different declinations of counseling as collaborative research, capable of integrating scientific and practical knowledge. The proposed reflection legitimizes the adoption of emergent and multi-methodological approaches, just as it supports the demand for Collaborative Educational Research, capable of holding together communities of diverse stakeholders, such as universities, businesses, and institutional actors

Abstract: Nowadays poverty can be defined as a construct that can no longer be ascribed to the material scarcity of resources but to the lack of all available relational, social and cultural resources, that are an expression of a “suffering” territory. This fragility testifies to a problem of educational sustainability that requires an exit from the emergency logic of “buffer interventions” by activating social, training and professional networks, capable of responding to the educational needs expressed by the territory. For this reason, in the epistemic framework of Civil and Digital-Civil Pedagogy, the need emerges for new professional profiles capable of being “managers” of integrated territorial development, educators-planners of territorial educational services with a view to social sustainability and the educational human transition

Abstract: Over the last years, the interest in teachers' digital competence has become the object of increasing attention. The progressive digitalization of our societies led the European legislator, in 2006, to reformulate the framework of key competences, introducing digital competence among the new knowledge that school has to promote. Of course, both future and in-service teachers need to be prepared to favour students' digital skills. This brought the European Commission to release in 2017 the DigCompEdu framework. In this chapter, we will first review some of the main conceptual models inspiring the reflection and research around teachers' knowledge and digital skills. Then, we will focus on the DigComEdu framework, to illustrate its main areas of competences and the operational values

Abstract: Practical traineeship has reached a stage of high juridical and scientific recognition in the initial training courses to become preschool and primary school teachers, but also in the field of methodological and didactic studies. Indeed, since its introduction in the university pathway, at the same time as the birth of degree courses in Science of Primary Education in the nineties of the twentieth century and in the wake of what is provided by the Delegated Decrees, practical traineeship activities have reached a very mature degree of definition. To talk about direct digital integrated practical traineeship (TDDI) means to insert the discourse in the evolutionary line just mentioned. However, in this contribution I will focus only on some steps that I think are useful to reflect on the TDDI experience

Abstract: Teachers’ assessment concepts and strategies play an important role, due to their effects on students’ learning outcomes and ability to learn independently. The literature gives ample space to ‘formative assessment’ as an approach that supports the teaching-learning process. However, within more recent docimological reflection, it is possible to identify approaches involving different degrees of student involvement in the assessment process, which have been less investigated, especially from an empirical point of view. This is the background for the present research, which attempts to focus on assessment concepts and strategies in relation to learners’ involvement. The study presents the first results of a survey currently involving more than 1,500 Italian primary and secondary school teachers, bringing out assessment concepts and implemented strategies

Abstract: Within the context of a reflection on learning from a lifelong and lifewide perspective, this paper intends to highlight the pedagogical need to focus on the individual and her or his resources as a prerequisite for starting and maintaining a fruitful “learning career”. For this purpose, the construct of “learning identity” is explored in depth. Within the field of the “technologies of the self” it has been possibile to identify dedicated strategies and tools that can support the growth and evolution of this form of adult identity in support of a leaning that can nourish the different stages of life

Abstract: Adulthood, once defined as a goal, today, has increasingly blurred outlines. While many speak of "adultescenza" (adult-adolescent) to describe the situation of those who interpret their adulthood in adolescent terms, today, we have, in one way, less certainty, in another way, more possibilities. For example, social sciences assign adolescents the task of choosing, where reality confirms that the choices taken in adolescence are not "for life," but circumstantial. Adolescents, rather, discover; adults rediscover. Thus, in adulthood, a detachment from the family of origin can take place which in adolescence was thought inconceivable: freedom, autonomy and responsibility can finally be considered adult goals, because the family of origin sometimes still has to-be-thought-of

Abstract: In view of the increasing number of social enterprises in recent years, the European Commission (2020) has undertaken a mapping study (2014-2020) of social ecosystems in order to understand their evolution, activities, and professional profiles. In Italy, workers in social enterprises account for 53% (ISTAT 2020) of the majority of which consist of/include workers in the social and care services. It is specifically within these services that the «value of knowledge and skills that are not only specifically technical-professional but also strategic and transversal, cognitive and metacognitive, reflective» (Epifani 2003, 23) is becoming increasingly important, in line with the current indications of the European Skills Agenda (European Commission 2021). This phenomenon concerns even more particularly the intermediate functions, i.e. those support positions, which in part hold management and coordination functions (Abhervé and Dubois 2009). In light of this framework, this study investigates the figure of the personal services coordinator, i.e. a second-level professional who, working both in the educational and in the managerial, combines his actions between very different areas of competence

Abstract: The evolution of the complex school system, from its origins to school autonomy, explains the reason for the connotation of complexity, which it has acquired over time. The school as organization and as institution therefore is a complex system where leaders and managers become a single person, identified in the School Manager who acts on the basis of continuous improvement. The characteristic features of the managerial function and of the school institution become: governance, leadership, manager, research, communication, organizational culture, and empowerment. The organizational culture understood as sharing assumptions, meanings, values and behaviors, becomes a useful means to achieve the institutional mandate, that is, to ensure student educational success

Abstract: Understanding the intersection between marine nature and culture is a basis for sustainable coastal development. In this frame the Carloforte tonnara, one of the last fixed Thunnus thynnus trap in the Mediterranean, represent a significant case study. Since until about thirty years ago the life of local community was closely linked to the fishing activities, but the evolution of the fish market at a global scale has radically interrupted it. In 2021 the author of this contribution created Tunèa1, an arts-based research in action project, aimed to re-create the lost relationship in new forms

Abstract: Pedagogy is still searching for its own identity and epistemological status. Especially in Italy, where the task of pedagogy, despite the efforts of many and numerous pedagogical colleagues, still has a marginal role, particularly in its political and transformative value. This is why it is important to return to pedagogy in its foundational elements, but especially to pedagogy as a promoter of critical reflexivity and concrete actions for the present and future of society and new generations. The essay reviews the most recent history of pedagogy and its Scientific Societies and opens up to the challenges of the contemporary world with confidence and respect for the high mandate facing the pedagogical reflexivity

Abstract: The stimulating reflections in the field of the new cognitive sciences have added breath of life to studies on didactics towards an original reinterpretation of educational practices based on the valorization of the body as a founding pedagogical device of educational and training processes. The emergence of an embodied vision of cognition and the recognition of a dynamic dialogicality between the organism and the environment have prompted the construction of new research paths, creating the conditions for the recognition of the learning, communicative, simulative and vicarious potential of corporeity in teaching-learning processes. Teaching, as a science of human interaction, is enriched with verbal, iconic and bodily codes, manifesting teaching postures and corporeity that highlight its nature as a complex adaptive system

Abstract: The history of the Cuban school is doubly intertwined with the history of the country’s social and economic evolution since the early days of the 1956 Revolution. Arguably, the escuela media superior has been the most subjected to experiments, reforms, successes, mistakes and difficulties, but it has been recognized as having a distinct degree of quality by international bodies, such as UNESCO. This ‘level’ of the Cuban educational system has assumed a fundamental role over the decades, after having resolved the shortcomings of the previous school system and having been adapted on several occasions to the changes in the socio-economic policies of the communist government. In fact, it trained qualified technicians essential to the economic development of Cuba and created a mass consciousness, whose unifying element resided in the collective commitment and not in that of the individual

Abstract: According to the Maastricht Treaty, the responsibility for the organisation and content of education and training systems lies with the Member States. However, the Community contributes to the development of quality education and the European dimension of teaching by encouraging cooperation between Member States. Europeanisation of national education systems in the European Union is both the effect of a top-down political process, with different levels of governance, and the result of a bottom-up movement. The main agents are the teachers themselves: European mobility, both physical and virtual, improves their professional practice and helps to develop their sense of belonging to a European teaching and learning community. Despite the central role played by teachers in the integration of national education systems into the European Education Area, the profile and the key competencies of the ‘European teacher’ have not been defined in European Union policy documents

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic is still impacting education and training systems. Under extremely challenging circumstances, it accelerated digital transformation and triggered rapid, large-scale change. Developments that would otherwise have taken years, were possible in only a few weeks. Today we are facing both challenges and opportunities. This means that we need to help teaching, step up our efforts and gradually move from temporary, emergency-focused distance education to more effective, sustainable and equitable digital education, within the framework of creative, flexible, modern and inclusive education and training. The education and training system is increasingly part of the digital transformation and it can take advantage of the benefits and opportunities of this ongoing change

Abstract: The poster describes the first phase of a research on the impact of Service-Learning on in-service and future teachers and educators, as mentioned in the research questions. This study started with a literacy review about Service-Learning, in both national and international framework. The Italian way of Service-Learning has been further investigated, using the work of Don Milani as a cultural reference. The research continued with an analysis of the normative and national literature about this approach. It is followed by a systematic review concerning the research questions, making use of Prisma statement. Four different databases were used for the investigation. As result of using a list of inclusion/exclusion criteria, 60 studies were eligible for full text analysis. The results underlined a lack of studies focusing on the Italian context, and a strong unbalance between studies concerning in-service teachers and pre-teachers. Results will orient the empiric part of the research for future steps

Abstract: The text highlights the lines of the research crossed by Paolo Federighi in his forty-year professional career within the University of Florence and the European institutions. We take the opportunity of this perusal to problematize the discipline, Adult Education, through a semantic and lexicographic analysis which aims to bring to light the history and theory of Adult Education from its beginnings in Italian society and culture in the period after the Second World War to date. The pedagogical-educational knowledge forming the building blocks of the discipline cannot be separated from scientific research and methodological results. The second part of the essay sets out to understand which research methodology can be more appropriate to respond to the needs of a constantly evolving and rapidly changing civil society. The third and fourth parts reflect on a human and scientific itinerary always pointed towards the lodestar of educational innovation and educational transformation

Abstract: The paper resumes the outcomes of the literature review conducted from the general theme regarding the city as an educational context and subject in the twenty-first century and presents a summary of the research design undertaken. The aim is to investigate the city as a ‘learning city’ where educational and training processes can become engines of regeneration. It is also intended to survey some examples of generative transformations traceable to the development trajectories drawn by Agenda 2030 that emerge in the learning city model, in order to understand their impact on the communities involved, the policies and the professional figures required to govern the processes

Abstract: The historical phase we are living, which is characterized by change management and the continuous redefinition of skills (Fiore et al. 2021), invites the university to question itself on the central role it plays for the formation of current and future. The work of the European Commission to address the improvement and adaptation of the skills of European citizens provides clear guidelines on which Higher Education is also called to commit. Among them, this paper focuses on the development of entrepreneurial skills, i.e. the ability to act on opportunities and ideas and to transform them into value for others. The Commission calls for the development of these competences at all levels of education, giving rise to entrepreneurial education training offers (Lackéus 2015). For this reason, and in order to respond to this need, since 2013 the Italian Ministry of University has established the Contamination Labs, places of contamination between students, teachers and local stakeholders aimed at developing interdisciplinary entrepreneurial education, which is also the subject of this research

Abstract: Restructuring personal and vocational training by means of the harbinger of a not merely economistic idea of employability represents a fundamental and ineradicable task of educational research and pedagogical reflection. The most obvious effect of such a re-understanding of employability in its function as a pedagogical principle and catalyst of formation, because of its dimension of connaturality with the subjective educational trajectory, is that of reinterpreting transition processes not from a discontinuous perspective, but from a process perspective. Hence the need to think and rethink ordinal architectures and understand the training process according to a logic of continuity and chain in which each individual educational and didactic proposal converges and makes the principle of employability transparent in a generative and transformative way

Abstract: The quality of higher education curricula has received increasing attention in recent years. The Sustainable Development Goals 2030 emphasise the role of quality education for developing employability skills and for achieving decent jobs. The Bologna Process understands the quality of study courses as their capacity to develop employability for its graduates. In this study, we present the methodology, the techniques and the instruments of the research focussed on the quality of LM 50 and LM 57/85 study courses from the perspective of students enrolled in the University of Florence

The identification of the underlying patterns of the training paths can contribute to responding fully to these challenges. Above all, the pedagogical principle of employability, with its integral and transformative value, can become an effective design operator of Higher Education in general, and of PhD courses in particular

Abstract: Nowadays, scientific literacy is a key aspect for active citizenship and for making informed decisions regarding scientific issues of everyday life. However, the PISA 2018 data highlight the low scientific competence of the upper secondary school students, underlining the need to foster STEM teaching. In particular, the use of the so-called X-Reality for acquiring scientific skills and to increase interest in the discipline seem promising. During the first year of my PhD, I carried out a scoping review on STEM teaching with X-Reality in the context of secondary school. The main purpose was to draw a state-of-the-art regarding X-Reality use, focusing on potential, critical aspects and challenges. After the search and selection process, 10 articles were included in the analysis. The results showed the effectiveness of X-Reality in promoting the achievement of learning objectives, the interest in the discipline and the long-term retention of knowledge. These results will be the starting point for setting up the empirical part of the PhD project

Abstract: The use of digital devices in education is increasing. The literature, however, reveals a disadvantage of digital compared to paper in performing specific learning tasks, in particular text comprehension, which is probably sustained by a different cognitive load and a tendency to use digital for superficial and fast reading. The present study investigates possible differences between paper and digital text comprehension in children of school-age by analysing the role of Executive Functions (EF) as mediating factors in performance. 175 children in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade were assessed for text comprehension in the two modes and assessed with EF tests. The results show that there are no differences between digital and paper text comprehension. However, dividing the sample into children with low and children with high levels of text comprehension, the former group is seen to benefit from digital compared to the latter group, which shows an opposite trend. Furthermore, the low performers score worse than high performers in the EF measures which show a mediating role between performance level and differences between paper and digital modes in text comprehension. The present study has important educational implications for the use of digital devices in education

Abstract: This work identifies the most significant studies addressing frameworks of ‘competencies’ aimed to be used to sustain a sustainability transformation, for both educators and learners, irrespective of the learning environment (formal, non-formal, informal) and the education level (primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education). To achieve this aim a critical review has been carried out. There is a prevalence of studies focusing on learners, on the formal learning environment, and on higher education. Additionally, a synthesis of existing frameworks of competencies is provided, for both learners and educators, which represents a launch pad for a new phase of empirical validation and testing

Abstract: The separative logic is not educational. The essay reviews the historical events that have generated an undervaluation of vocational training pathways compared to education pathways. This "minority" of perception and legislation stems from a logic of separation with many faces which, taken all together, with etiological spirit and historical-ordinamental contextualization, explain the "untenable" inferiority of vocational education: people (the 'inferiors') and political-bureaucratic elite (the 'superiors'), nature and culture, man and citizen, etc. These separations concerned the idea of labor (one among them, the opposition between 'manual labor' and 'intellectual labor') and did not allow for increasing the educational power of it. Only a logic of integration (embedded and embodied) can defuse the ideas of separation and provide an organic and holistic image of education

Abstract: Can research today have a political and a transformative commitment? Can this become the engine of Welfare reforms at all levels and therefore a tool for social change? This collection addresses these and many other questions by collecting a wide variety of studies and research perspectives, while recounting the research paths of the Doctorate in Education and Psychology. The themes and configurations of this Program stands on one of the most promising tracks in the current transformation of Higher Education. Following the Ministerial Decree 226/2021, which has recognized the fundamental role played by PhD students in the building of an integrated Welfare, this volume shows how their work ties in with social needs and social concerns as well as it proposes efficient and effective solutions that are played out within different research fields

Abstract: This study is aimed to report the qualitative data collected as part of a larger evaluation research project on educational contexts for disabilities. The sample consists of 161 pre-service teachers completing their education at the University of Florence, who were asked to indicate strengths and weaknesses in the implementation of their own inclusive teaching practices (TEIP). This study focuses on a few specific areas according to the existing literature that sees teaching practices, collaboration between school staff and families, and behavior management as related elements for defining inclusive environments and attitudes. The integration of quantitative and qualitative data collected and analyzed separately explains all the elements that may contribute to self-efficacy toward school inclusion, such as the subject-specific support teacher preparation and the quality of collaboration within the working group for inclusion whose impact relates to the level of engagements achieved by students that can increase chances of success of the educational project

Abstract: The paper aims at dealing with didactics of Resistance through the relationship between the historical wtnesses and younger generations. As the first has lived the historical events he is going to narrate, younger generations constitute ideally the depositary of a rich and fragile set of informations. Based from this perspective, the paper is going to speak about a students' cycle of meetings organised in some schools in the province of Pistoia, between 2016 and 2018: the vocational institute "Martini" and the technical institute "Marchi". Meetings were held by SIlvano Sarti, who fought as partisan in the "Brigata Sinigaglia" in 1944 and who was appointed ANPI provincial president in Florence

The privileged point of observation is the activity of the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI), the main Italian resistance association founded in 1944 to bring together the protagonists of the armed struggle against Nazi-fascism

Abstract: The chapter presents a case study based on the design, development, and testing of an interactive 360° video applied to the teaching of Sensory Analysis of Food at the University of Florence. The case study describes the design of 360° video storyboards and the creation of the video by the use of 360° cameras for reproducing a sensory laboratory environment. Video enrichment with Vivista, an educational software allowing lecturers to embed interaction points (e.g. quizzes, texts, images) within the 360° videos is also described. Different immersive modalities for the use of the videos with students in different contexts are described and discussed. The chapter concludes with a reflection on the opportunities that 360° videos may provide to university students for practice and experience

Abstract: The TDDI experimentation looks at distance teaching as an educational opportunity for the student strongly anchored to a shared planning with the School Tutor. TDDI is, in part, very close to the concept of E-Learning understood as a teaching and learning methodology capable of involving both the product and the training process. In this perspective, the training product must be understood as any type of content made available in digital format. The training process is referred to the management of the entire teaching process involving all aspects of delivery, fruition, interaction, evaluation

Abstract: Learning devices can be embedded into organizational contexts. Through them learning processes can be intentionally activated as to transform employees while working. Workplaces have their own learning potential due to their high level of structuring and regulation. Their learning potential transform organizational actors while they are in the productive actions. Identifying embedded learning processes helps in intercepting learning valencies of workplace experiences and observing learning actions that can lead to transformative processes. Results of related research activities are presented in the volume. They have been carried out in more than ten years of research implemented in three types of organisations: business, museum, prison. Research experiences are analysed by using a model of study that is based on the reconstruction of the learning processes as they are experienced by the actors considered. Moreover the model is based on the analysis of learning actions that are embedded into the productive and service provision processes. Factors and conditions are analysed as well through which organisations can act on employees transformation

Abstract: The peer learning project RApP (Ragazze e Ragazzi apprendono tra Pari) took place at the ISIS Gobetti-Volta high school in Bagno a Ripoli, Florence. With the aim to develop debate and public speaking activities, the project applies the IDEAM method, known as the five canons of ancient rhetoric (Inventio, Dispositio, Elocutio, Actio and Memoria). Thanks to this framework, it is possible to visualize and apply changes to the organization and writing of an effective speech, as well as to its memorization and delivery in public. A platform of applied training combined with a set of propaedeutic exercises based on the approach of ancient progymnasmata outlines a gradual pathway aimed at strengthening the uses of language as an individual skill, with a view to acquiring the skills to use language in the social environment of debate

Abstract: The purpose of this chapter is to describe and reflect on scholarly-based practices that can help facilitate comparative group work within the international and transnational context of adult education. The first section of this chapter situates comparative group work within the larger context of comparative adult education, followed by a focus on how to facilitate a group of diverse learners with different societal and cultural experiences. The chapter emphasiszes an outcome-based approach, describing how to set up incremental learning outcomes to enable comparative group work to be successful; a team-based approach, elaborating on coaching strategies to facilitate comparative work group; and a strength-based approach about adult learner-centered strategies for engagement, empowerment, mentoring, collaboration, fun, and accountability when facilitating comparative group work

Abstract: This paper provides a guide for developing a research design for comparative studies in adult and continuing education. To that end, a research methodology will be presented that was developed at the COMPALL and INTALL Winter Schools on Comparative Studies in Adult Education and Lifelong Learning. Central elements for systematic comparisons in adult and continuing education are (1) the object of comparison, (2) research fields for comparison, and (3) inductive comparative categories. These elements form the reference points for the development of a comparative research question in adult and continuing education. The comparative analysis proposes a three-step approach from juxtaposition to interpretation: step 1 - descriptive juxtaposition; step 2 - analytical juxtaposition; and step 3 - analytical interpretation

Abstract: This book proposes an interpretation of continuing education as an enabling factor of social innovation. Continuing education is an opportunity for transforming and co-creating structural and socio-cultural conditions in work contexts, through inclusive and collaborative practices and processes. The reflection presented in the book starts from an eco-systemic analysis of educational processes entailed in the social innovation dynamics, and develops a definition of educational action for formulating and testing responses to complex social needs. The educative action, oriented to creatively combine tangible and intangible resources, individual talents, collective imagination, improves capacity to rethink educational and socio-educational services and face the challenges that reality presents

Abstract: The birth and development of disciplines, as organized knowledge that guides the interpretation of reality, are inscribed in the heritage of the knowledge of our species. These follow the triple regulating principles of the historical flux of the meanings of feeling and thinking: cognitive potential, mental processing, intangible and tangible products. The flow from the indistinct feeling of the origins evolves through the archaic forms of the magic thought; to the ancient forms of declarative thought up to the modern forms of demonstrative thought. The latter with the separation between disciplines does not recognize the interconnection inherent in reality, loses the scientific revolution character and generates the unsustainable human development on the planet. From the global interconnection experience of the contemporary world, a new paradigm comes to life: transdisciplinarity, whose epistemology recomposes the knowledge and reality's unity and diversity beyond the barriers between disciplines

Abstract: This volume gives theoretical and practical insights in international and comparative research in the field of adult and continuing education. The 16 contributions of this volume give three perspectives on international and comparative adult education. The first perspective focuses on the question how internationalisation and comparative adult and continuing education can be taught. The second perspective gives insights into the results of comparative research that has been conducted throughout a two-week Winter School that took place in February 2019 in Würzburg. The third perspective complements the two perspectives with insights into international projects and practices in adult and continuing education. The authors of this volume are contributing to the transnational Winter School International and comparative studies in adult and continuing education in Würzburg, Germany since 2014

Abstract: This volume shows the outcome of a series of meetings and seminars which, on several levels, contributed to the construction of the International Conference La ricerca sull'Educazione in età Adulta nelle università italiane held at the University of Florence on the 23rd and 24th November 2017. The different contributions have tried to answer the question on the origin and development of adult education in Italy within academic contexts. What does it mean to work in this research field? The interviewed directors have reflected on a number of research approaches and have reconstructed the variety of theories, models and authors which outlined the development of this discipline in Italy over the last fifty years. Among the covered topics are: increasing the educational quality of the workplace, understanding the education incorporated in the workplace, studying the aims of education in formal and informal contexts. This has led to a new and original theme, which had however not been touched by the Italian academic literature, namely the question of inequalities and relative poverty, two important phenomena for understanding the development of future societies

Abstract: The compendium collects the basic themes of biology in a very simplified form, ideally following the programmatic criteria of secondary school. The didactic program is articulated starting from the molecules that make up living organisms to end at the theoretical basis of ecology and environmental protection. All the main topics of life sciences such as genetics, anatomy and the evolution of organisms are addressed, always trying to convey the heart of the theoretical concept through a simple but adequate terminology. The goal is to offer a first look at the basis of biology to those who intend to carry out an in-depth study of this subject, which is extremely fascinating but also decidedly complex, vast and multifaceted

Abstract: This compendium is designed as a review of basic mathematics topics and is mainly aimed at students who are looking for valuable help to integrate their knowledge and correct their deficiencies in the subject, as well as to succeed in the math admission test of the University of Florence. The topics covered are divided into five macro areas: Numbers, Powers and Radicals, Literal calculation, Equations, Inequalities and absolute value, Exponential and logarithmic functions. For each one of the topics, the fundamental theoretical notions are offered with specific examples and a selection of single questions, thanks to which the student can immediately check their knowledge. Moreover, there is also a section collecting all the answers to the questions with extensive examination on the correct process and on the possible errors. This analysis represents the real strength of this work since it allows students to self-evaluate and learn from their mistakes

Abstract: This compendium is aimed at all students who, in the transition from secondary school to university, have to face a chemistry exam in their course of study and want to fill their knowledge gaps or, simply, to review the minimum topics of the subject, before deepening them during university courses. By studying and reviewing the various topics, grouped in parts and units, the reader will therefore have the possibility to access the fundamental notions that make up "General Chemistry". The end-of-chapter exercises are an additional aid allowing students to carry out a self-assessment and, possibly, to identify particularly "difficult" topics to be further studied

Abstract: The enforcement of the sentence in a (re)educational perspective is a highly debated topic in different approaches, including the multidisciplinary ones. In this volume, the topic is discussed from a compensatory perspective, namely through the acknowledgement of the need to prepare educational tools to contrast the 'adverse educational actions', to which the prison population may be exposed, and to the phenomenon of repeated infractions. In addition to the elements of the treatment program (which is structured, intentional, legally regulated and procedure-like), every phase of the sentence enforcement, even those taken for granted, includes an educational value and presents itself as a growth and improvement opportunity for each prisoner. As evidence to the variety of experiences (in the educational sense), this volume collects a series of contributions by professionals from the criminal justice system who support the changing processes of prisoners

Abstract: Prison education should be a top priority issue in most societies. Prison conditions must not infringe human rights and dignity and must offer meaningful treatment programmes in order to support inmates in their rehabilitation and reintegration in society. The use of ICTs within a penitentiary context plays a crucial role in that. The present Volume looks at the learning potential in prisons and reports on innovative (e-)learning pathways for basic skills education as designed and tested in Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Romania. Research investigated on what counts as 'educational' in such a complex context and how to combine relevant pieces in a 'learning mosaic' (the broad range of any learning opportunity across it). This Volume argues that such an approach may be adopted in a wider European perspective within the frame of dynamic security

Abstract: The volume collects the papers of colleagues, friends and collaborators submitted during the conference "L'infanzia nella figura di Enzo Catarsi" ("Childhood in the figure of Enzo Catarsi), held in Florence on April 29, 2014. The conference was organised by the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Florence, in collaboration with the Tuscany Region and the Istituto degli Innocenti, to remember the scholar Enzo Catarsi. With his death, the Department, the Municipalities of Tuscany, the community of pedagogists, the students and his closest collaborators are missing a reference figure and a personality of great scientific, cultural and human importance, with high educational ideals, great humanity, optimism, lightness and enthusiasm

Abstract: In Europe the social economy employs almost 15 million workers. During the crisis years, unlike other sectors, it has often generated an increase in jobs. The aim of this comparative study is to investigate how to allow the supply and demand for young people to meet in the different types of social economy bodies. In particular, it concentrates on the problem of how to bring into line initial university training and the skills required by these organizations. The focus is placed on the varied family of training workers present in at least 75% of the organizations, whose professionalism is nevertheless rarely acknowledged. The papers proposed in this book try to identify the most suitable solutions at the level of curriculum, career development and accompanying measures, while drawing solutions from objective findings and not from training system needs or convictions

Abstract: The volume starts from the monograph of the author entitled Per una pedagogia di "confine", deepening a series of pedagogical relationships, from the epistemological level of the relationship of pedagogy with other disciplines, to the theoretical level of learning "over the course of life", up to the methodological level the relationships researcher/educator, teacher/student, learner in an individual/cooperative situation. From this point of view, the author favours the anthropological-cultural contribution to the integration of educational interventions, making his own communicative and interactive methodologies for the qualification of learning and skills in training processes. The volume is a contribution for the basic pedagogical training of students enrolled in social-sanitary degree courses and other degrees that aim to shape educators

Abstract: The fundamental principles of freedom, security, democracy, and the regulatory mechanisms of the European Union, as well as the pronouncements of the European Convention for the protection of Human Rights and fundamental freedoms (ECHR) can be subject to dangerous violations within criminal justice systems. When these violations are perpetrated by the actors called to protect the same rights and freedoms, the institutions must also prepare the educational devices which are required for their prevention. This volume intends to investigate the complexity of educational actions - primarily informal ones - which accompany the creation of the operators' knowledge of the analysed systems, as well as the methods of their growth. The contents are discussed starting from the research hypotheses, and on the basis of the experimentation of the embedded learning in the prison of Chieti (under the supervision of the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Florence)

Abstract: Since the mid 20th century, the criticism of mass culture has been marked by the "apocalyptic" positions of many authors. Through the texts and ideas of three these "apocalyptic" authors (or, at least, of three authors defined as such: Adorno, Pasolini and Baudrillard), but also through the most current criticisms of ICT, the text suggests to re-read the apocalyptic authors. At the same time, it highlights the limits of information and communication technologies and their partial outdatedness, while also trying to draw inspiration from them in order to develop a model of media education which may keep alive the dialectical charge between the possibilities offered by technology and the pitfalls it sometimes hides. The apocalyptic authors, in fact, can support the need for a semiological, critical-sociological and pedagogical work, which considers the media as a problem, and creates and gives the subjects the analysis, interpretation and (critical) use skills of the media themselves. The aim is to create a form of literacy with respect to old and new "languages of knowledge", but above all with respect to the formation of critical and thoughtful, free and creative "well-made heads"

Abstract: In a complex, global, multicultural and post-modern society such as the contemporary one, the concepts of "democracy", citizenship "and" training" are undergoing a more urgent and necessary rethinking, which is tracing more and more constant new variations, contaminations and interconnections. On the one hand citizenship has become today active and participatory, as today it can be exercised. On the other hand, volunteering can be a response to the need for participation claimed by contemporary societies: the donation of blood, a particular declination of the traditional concept of gift, is seen as an opportunity to participate in community life and to exercise active and responsible citizenship. From this point of view, the subject is the main actor and protagonist of contemporary processes, and must be trained in understanding the complexity of the notion of citizenship

Abstract: The study examines a vast panorama of the policies on which depend the living and working conditions of young people. Measures were examined that can be enacted on a regional level starting from the concrete experience of 6 Regional Governments in as many European countries. The book shows that a true "Youth Guarantee" must guarantee support for the complexity of the transitions that characterise young person's life and shows how this must be adapted to the different conditions the various segments of young population live in. The wealth and variety of concrete experiences offered by regional policies show how it is possible to activate public ations that, having adequate ingredients, will be able to lessen the negative effects of the economic crisis and allow young people to take one step ahead at any time in their private and professional life
