    Abstract: Einem etwa 13jährigen Jungen werden beide Ohrläppchen mit einem spitzen Stab durchstochen. Um das Zusammenwachsen zu verhindern, werden immer dickere Stöckchen in die Löcher gesteckt. Dann setzt sich ein Mann Ohrscheiben (Ø etwa 8 cm) in seine voll ausgeweiteten Ohrläppchen ein.
    Abstract: By means of a pointed stick an about 13 year-old boy has his earlobes pierced. Thin wooden plugs are inserted into the holes in order to prevent the border of the wounds from coalescing. By degrees the plugs are replaced by thicker ones, aiming at a gradual enlargement of the earlobes. The swollen earlobes are cleaned and cooled with water. An adult inserts ear discs (approx. 8 cm diameter) in his fully widened earlobes.

Zur Eröffnung umkreisen sie einander in gebückter Haltung, dann werfen sie sich auf die Knie nieder, ergreifen gegenseitig die rechte Hand und versuchen, den Gegner mit der anderen Hand zu umfassen und umzustoßen.
    Abstract: After day's work the men dance on the village square and practise wrestling two by two. The contenders first circle each other with a slouching attitude, then they go down on their knees and holding each other by the right hand each tries to clasp his left hand round his opponent's back and to push him down. The aim of the fight is to throw the opponent on the back to the ground. Only at contests between different tribes however the fights are fought to a finish, practice fights are usually stopped as soon as the superiority of one wrestler is evident.

Nach Absetzen der Stärke wird der blausäurehaltige Saft abgeschöpft, die Stärkeschicht zerkrümelt und getrocknet. Aus feinem Stärkemehl werden Fladen gebacken.
    Abstract: Manioc tubers are harvested, then scraped off, washed and grated behind the house. The ground mass is squeezed out over a large pot with aid of a sieve and dried in small balls. After the starch has percipitated to the bottom of the pot, the liquid, which contains prussic acid, is ladled off; the layer of starch is crumbled and dried in the sun. Cakes (beijú) are baked from the fine starch-flour.

    Abstract: Ein Mann spaltet ein junges Palmblatt mit noch geschlossenen Fiederblättern und flicht die Fiedern von der Mittelrippe aus kreuzweise in 2/2 Köperbindung zu einem länglichen Diagonalgeflecht zusammen, erwärmt es über Feuer, klappt es auf die Hälfte zusammen und versieht den so entstandenen Rückenkorb mit Tragbändern aus zusammengedrehten Lianen.
    Abstract: The pinnules of a palm-leaf are plaited from the inner rib into a longish rectangle by an oblique 2/2 twill technique. The rectangle is folded in half and sewn on both sides. The resulting back-basket is furnished with carrying straps made of twisted lianas.
