    Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit folgt Foucault in der Annahme, dass der zoologische Garten eine Heterotopie, ein Anderer Raum ist. Dies führte zur Forschungsfrage, wodurch er sich zu einem solchen Raum konstituiert, wie er sich als solcher produziert und reproduziert, durch wen oder was und wie er hergestellt wird und welche Funktionen er in der Gesellschaft erfüllt. Diese Arbeit untersucht den Anderen Raum primär im Zoo Zürich und im Tiergarten Schönbrunn. Hier gibt es Regenwaldhallen, die eigenständige Ökosysteme simulieren. Sie bündeln heterotopische Eigenschaften der Zoos wie unter einem Brennglas. Für die explorative Annäherung an die Heterotopie Zoo bot sich die ethnographische Methode an. Ihre vielfältigen Forschungserträge bilden den Kern dieser Arbeit; gerahmt werden sie von einer historischen Darstellung zoologischer Gärten und von raumsoziologischen Betrachtungen. Gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen schrieben sich in den letzten sechzig Jahren deutlich in die Heterotopie Zoo ein. Sie ist seither wirkmächtige Teilnehmerin an diesen Prozessen und bestimmt gesellschaftliche Werte mit. Mit ihren Aktivitäten wirkt sie in den Rest-Raum hinein, so dass eine wechselseitige Beeinflussung stattfindet.

The problem that companies run into using this model is what in-app purchases should be shown and when in order to maximize the number of in-app purchases. This is made more difficult at KIXEYE due to the massive number of in-app purchases available in the company’s games. So how do you solve this problem? Bysshe Easton and Thomas Dobbs explain how KIXEYE used hybrid recommendation engine techniques to create personalized in-app purchase recommendations for its customers, resulting in a 20%+ lift in user revenue. Three years ago, Indeed suffered one of the worst outages in its history. No single fault or failure caused this outage. Rather, it was a complex interaction of bugs, design decisions, capacity loss, and poor situational awareness during incident response. Indeed learned valuable lessons from this event. It identified ways to make the systems more resilient and improved the approach to the incident lifecycle within the engineering culture. Alex Elman uses the narrative of this incident to demonstrate how a site-wide outage can inform increased resilience and reduced operational complexity. Learning from failure is a feedback loop rather than a one-off process. He applies Indeed’s outage as a practical example of what an iteration of this loop can look like. He shares with other SREs the success that has risen from this failure. Indeed hasn’t had a global site outage in the three years since this event. Alex begins with a discussion of failure to set the stage for delivering the incident background, then discusses incident response and situational awareness. He explains conducting incident postmortems and learning from failure and designing for reliability, including resilience patterns such as circuit breaking and graceful degradation. Finally, he gets into resilience testing, running chaos tests, and closing the feedback loop, leaving some time for a question and answer session. It emerges that this riskwork is highly varied, entangled with material artifacts which represent and construct risks and, importantly, is not confined to formal risk management departments or personnel. Each chapter suggests that the distributed nature of this riskwork lives uneasily with formalized risk management protocols and accountability requirements. In addition, riskwork as an organizational process makes contested issues of identity and values readily visible. These "back stage/back office" encounters with risk are revealed as being as much emotional as they are rationally calculative. Overall, the collection combines constructivist sensibilities about risk objects with a micro-sociological orientation to the study of organizations.
