    Abstract: Am Abend des St.-Josefstages am 19. März setzen Kinder und Erwachsene in den Vortagen angefertigte Schiffchen auf das Wasser des Faulenbaches. Die Schiffchen tragen brennende Kerzen. Zum Schluß singen die Kinder mit ihren Müttern ein traditionelles Lied.
    Abstract: On St Josephs evening (19 march) adults and children launch boats containing lighted candles into the stream and sing traditional songs.

    Abstract: Die Bedeutung des Bollenhutes als originärer Bestandteil der Schwarzwälder Volkstracht sowie in Werbung, Fremdenverkehr und Karikaturen. Die Hutmacherin Hedwig Kaltenbach erläutert während der Arbeit die einzelnen Tätigkeiten und beschreibt die soziale Funktion des Bollenhutes. Der Lehrer Ansgar Barth erörtert die kulturgeschichtlichen Aspekte. Interviews mit Schwarzwälder Bollenhutträgerinnen und einer Touristin sowie mehrere Bildbeispiele werfen Schlaglichter auf dieses Symbol Schwarzwälder Tracht.
    Abstract: The importance of the "Bollenhut" as an original element of the traditional Black Forest costume as well as in advertising, tourism, and caricature. The hat-maker Hedwig Kaltenbach explains, while working, the different operartions and talks about the social funktion of the "Bollenhut". The teacher Ansgar Barth speaks about its cultural history. Interviews with Black Forest women wearing these traditional hats and with a female tourist as well as exemplifying pictures shed a strong light on this symbol of Black Forest costume.

    Abstract: Alle fünf Jahre wird in Förste/Nienstedt der "Schüttenhoff" gefeiert, eine südniedersächsische Sonderform des Schützenfestes. An fünf Tagen um Pfingsten finden Umzüge statt. Deren Hauptmerkmal ist das Verteidigen, Erstürmen und Beseitigen der meist von Anliegern oder örtlichen Vereinen errichteten Barrikaden durch drei "Kampfkompanien", die Schützen (Angriff), die Buren (Verteidigung) und die Pioniere (Räumung). Der Film zeigt zwei der fünf Umzüge, den der Männer vom Pfingstsonntag und den der Frauen vom Dienstag darauf.
    Abstract: Every fifth year in Förste/Nienstedt people gather to the "Schüttenhoff" (shooters court), a special form of Schützenfeste (festival with side-shows, including marksmanship) found in southern lower saxony. For five days at Easter processions of three "battalions" take place symbolizing the storming, defence and conquering of barricades erected by inhabitants or local associations. The three "battalions" are the riflemen (responsible for taking the barricade), the farmers (responsible for defending the barricades) and the pioneers (responsible for mopping up). Two of the five processions are shown, men on Whitsun Sunday and women on the following Tuesday.

    Abstract: Zehn- bis zwölfjährige türkische Kinder spielen und tanzen die in Form und Inhalt überlieferten Kindertänze und Tanzspiele ihres Heimatlandes, praktizieren auf dem Schulhof mit ihren deutschen Mitschülerinnen aber auch die derzeitig in Deutschland gängigen Spiele. Vollständig sind zehn türkische Beispiele dokumentiert: ein Abzählvers, Klatschspiele, Tänze im Kreis (z. B. das Plumpsackspiel) und in Reihen sowie eine Wechselrede.
    Abstract: Ten to twelve year old children of Turkish families perform games and dances with handclapping and expressive movements of the body as well as recitations and singing. The repertory is orginally Turkish and is now also practised in Germany - here on the playground of the German primary school attended by the children. The ten examples presented include a counting-out rhyme, three clapping games and two games in circular formation, a circle dance and two dances in line, and alternating reciting. Besides the Turkish elements the examples show the common patterns of children's repertory and its combination of movement with speech or singing. Moreover in the actual performance common elements of European coherence can be distinguished.

    Abstract: Der Tod einer alten Frau veranlaßt dreitägige Beerdigungs- und Reinigungszeremonien in Oku. Nach den Totengesängen der Frauengesellschaft 〈i〉Fimbien〈/i〉 wird der Leichnam im Garten des Hofes beigesetzt. Weitere Tänze und Gesänge auf dem Grab beenden den ersten Tag. Nach dem zweiten Tag, an dem gegessen, getrunken und getanzt wird, ist der dritte Tag rituellen Waschungen der weiblichen Angehörigen und kinderlosen jungen Frauen gewidmet. Er endet mit rituellen Scheinkämpfen der Frauen.
    Abstract: The death of an old woman at Oku is followed by funeral and purification ceremonies occupying three days. After death songs sung by the women's society 〈i〉Fimbien〈/i〉 the corpse is buried in the garden of the homestead. Further singing and dancing upon the grave conclude the first day. The second day is spent in eating, drinking, and dancing, and a ritual washing of the female relatives and the childless married young women takes place on the third day. The day is concluded by ritual sham fights performed by the women.
