    Abstract: Zwei Seher zeichnen Orakeltafeln mit je sechs Feldern in den Sand. Gestreute Erdnußkerne locken über Nacht den Schakal herbei. Aus seinen Spuren und mit Hilfe eines Krummstabes wird die Antwort abgelesen. Die Seher kehren in das Dorf zurück, um den Fragestellern die Antwort des Orakels zu bringen.
    Abstract: Two seers make offerings on the place of the jackal oracle, then mark the oracle charts on the sand with six compartments each, on to which they record the signs corresponding to the question of each person. Groundnut kernels are strewn about to entice the jackal during the night. The answer is "read" from his tracks, and the destroyed and intact signs, by means of a crook. The seers return to the village to impart the oracle's answer to those who had asked the questions.

    Abstract: Opferziegen und Hirsebier werden von Männern und Frauen am Festplatz des Dorfes zusammengetragen. Es treten eine Reihe von Kanaga-Masken auf, die einzeln oder zu mehreren verschiedene Tänze aufführen. Eine Peulfrauen-Maske nimmt Geschenke entgegen. Kurz ist eine Krokodilmaske zu sehen.
    Abstract: Sacrificial goats and millet beer are brought together on the village festival ground by men and women. A series of kanaga masks appear and perform various dances singly, in pairs or in groups. A Peul woman mask accepts gifts. A crocodile mask can be seen briefly.

    Abstract: Von einem Baobab-Baum werden Baststreifen abgezogen, gebündelt und im Gehöft zu feinen Streifen gefasert, befeuchtet und zu einem dünnen, zweisträhnigen Seil zusammengedreht. Aus diesem wird dann ein stärkeres Seil gedreht, wobei der Fuß des Seilers als Arbeitsgerät dient.
    Abstract: Strips fo bast are taken from a baobab tree, tied up, and unravelled into fine strips at the farm. They are then dampened, and twisted together into a thin, two-strand-rope. A thicker rope is then twisted, the rope-maker's foot serving as a tool.

    Abstract: On an open square between the two halves of the village of Sanga, by the Bandiagara cliff faces, nine masked characters demonstrate various dances. They form a group a stilt mask; 〈i〉kanaga〈/i〉 and 〈i〉sirige〈/i〉 masks demonstrate their complex dance figures which require acrobatic skill.

Das Dachgerüst aus gebündelten Hirsestengeln wird mit getrocknetem Buschgras umgeben und mit Rindenstreifen befestigt, dann wird die Spitze gebunden. Das fertige Dach wird auf den Speicher gehoben und an dessen Dachsparren befestigt.
    Abstract: A granary roof severely damaged by the rains is to be replaced by a new one. After a search in the bush for suitable branches, the measurements of the old roof are taken, the truss erected from millet stalks, surrounded with dried bush grass, fastened with strips of bark and the top is attached. The ready roof is then lifted on to the granary and fixed to its rafters.
