Abstract: This book contains papers in the fields of engineering pedagogy education, research in engineering pedagogy, and games in engineering education. The authors are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education on all levels and especially in post-secondary education. To face these challenges, higher education must find innovative and effective ways to respond in a proper way. The pandemic period left us with profound changes in the way we teach and learn, including the massive use of new means of communication, such as videoconferencing and other technological tools. Moreover, the current explosion of artificial intelligence tools, mainly used by students, is challenging teaching practices maintained for centuries. Scientifically based statements as well as excellent best practice examples are absolutely necessary. The 26th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2023), which took place in Madrid, Spain, between September 26 and 30, 2023, was the perfect place where current trends in higher education were presented and discussed. Since its beginning in 1998, this conference has been devoted to new approaches in learning with a focus on collaborative learning in higher education. Nowadays, the ICL conferences are a forum of the exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the presentation of practical experiences in learning and engineering pedagogy. In this way, the authors try to bridge the gap between ‘pure’ scientific research and the everyday work of educators. Interested readership includes policy makers, academics, educators, researchers in pedagogy and learning theory, schoolteachers, learning industry, further and continuing education lecturers, etc.

Abstract: Nowadays, online technologies are the core of most fields of engineering and the whole society and are inseparable connected for example with Internet of Things & Industrial Internet of Things (Industry 4.0), Online & Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, Cross & Mixed Reality, and Remote Working Environments. to name only a few. Since the first REV conference in 2004, we tried to focus on the upcoming use of the Internet for engineering tasks and the opportunities as well as challenges around it. Consequently, the motto of this year’s REV2022 was “Artificial Intelligence and Online Engineering”. In a globally connected world, the interest in online collaboration, teleworking, remote services, and other digital working environments is rapidly increasing. In response to that, the general objective of this conference is to contribute and discuss fundamentals, applications, and experiences in the field of Online and Remote Engineering, Virtual Instrumentation and other related new technologies like Cross Reality, Data Science & Big Data, Internet of Things & Industrial Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, Cyber-Security, and M2M & Smart Objects. Another objective of the conference is to discuss guidelines and new concepts for engineering education in higher and vocational education institutions, including emerging technologies in learning, MOOCs & MOOLs, and Open Resources. REV2022 was the 19th in a series of annual events concerning the area of Online Engineering. It has been organized in cooperation with The British University in Egypt (BUE), Cairo, as a hybrid event from February 28 until March 02, 2022.

Abstract: Education has always been one of the cornerstones for societal evolution and economic growth. We are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education and especially post-secondary education. The use of technology impacts the way educational content is presented and acquired in many areas. The designs of immersive educational worlds and the combination of rational and emotional educational experiences that cannot be designed in the same way in the traditional classroom will come increasingly into focus. Seen in this way the book also contributes to generalize the experience of the COVID-19 crisis and its impact to quality of learning and education. Scientifically based statements as well as excellent experiences (best practice) are necessary. This book contains scientific papers in the fields of: The future of learning Eruptive technologies in learning Pedagogy of online learning Deep learning vs machine learning: opportunities and challenges Reimagining and rapid transition of learning Interested readership includes policymakers, academics, educators, researchers in pedagogy and learning theory, schoolteachers, learning industry, further and continuing education lecturers, etc.

Abstract: This book presents recent research on interactive collaborative learning. We are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education and especially post-secondary education. To face these challenges, higher education has to find innovative ways to quickly respond to these new needs. On the one hand, there is a pressure by the new situation in regard to the COVID pandemic. On the other hand, the methods and organizational forms of teaching and learning at higher educational institutions have changed rapidly in recent months. Scientifically based statements as well as excellent experiences (best practice) are absolutely necessary. These were the aims connected with the 24th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2021), which was held online by Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, on 22–24 September 2021. Since its beginning in 1998, this conference is devoted to new approaches in learning with a focus on collaborative learning in Higher Education. Nowadays, the ICL conferences are a forum of the exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the presentation of practical experiences in Learning and Engineering Pedagogy. In this way, we try to bridge the gap between ‘pure’ scientific research and the everyday work of educators. This book contains papers in the fields of Teaching Best Practices Research in Engineering Pedagogy Engineering Pedagogy Education Entrepreneurship in Engineering Education Project-Based Learning Virtual and Augmented Learning Immersive Learning in Healthcare and Medical Education. Interested readership includes policymakers, academics, educators, researchers in pedagogy and learning theory, schoolteachers, learning industry, further and continuing education lecturers, etc.
