Abstract: How can feminism fight patriarchy while preserving some women's desire for patriarchal sex and other women's desire to liberate themselves from it? 'In a Rapture of Distress' argues for a more capacious definition of sex-positive, via a curious rather than a moral spectatorship upon the sex life of women of different cultures and generations.

Abstract: In Voices for Transgender Equality, Thomas J Billard offers an insider's view into transgender activism during the first two years of the Trump administration. Drawing on ethnographic research at the National Center for Transgender Equality, Billard shows how these activists developed an unlikely blend of online and offline strategies to saturate a diverse ecology of national news outlets, local media outlets across the country, and both public and private conversations across multiple social media platforms with voices in support of their cause. Including rich storytelling and insightful analysis, Billard makes a compelling case of what it takes to make social and political change in a world transformed by digital media.

Abstract: In 'Foundations of Institutional Reality', Andrei Marmor provides a novel account of the ontological foundations of institutional facts and argues that there are important epistemic and methodological implications that follow from this ontology. The book offers a grounding-reductive account of collective attitudes that comports with methodological individualism. It argues for a functional explanation of the constitutive relations between rules and practices, challenging Searle's influential distinction between constitutive and regulative rules.

Abstract: In 'The Principle of Political Hope', Loren Goldman draws on Immanuel Kant, Ernst Bloch, Charles Peirce, William James, and John Dewey to offer an account of political hope as a frame for navigating the relationship between subjective aspiration and objective possibility. Considering what political hope is, how it operates, how it has been thought about, and how to think about it in the contemporary world, Goldman's conceptualization of hope rejects grand notions of progress while still maintaining the possibility of a brighter future. Refreshing and lucid, Goldman reconstructs hope as a necessary precondition for social and political engagement, reinvigorating the possibility of utopia in the process.

Abstract: In a collection of 15 essays, Robert Bernasconi argues for a holistic approach to race that integrates the concrete experience of racism faced by individuals into the study of institutional, structural, and systemic racism. Drawing on the work of Frantz Fanon, the late Sartre, and Michel Foucault, and studying such figures like Ottobah Cugoano, Antnor Firmin, and W.E.B. Du Bois, Bernasconi's volume challenges the philosophical canon and will serve as a valuable resource for scholars and students.

Abstract: In 'The Retirement Challenge', influential former White House economists Martin Neil Baily and Benjamin H. Harris explore America's outdated retirement system and explain how improving retirement requires changes by families, employers, and policymakers alike. The central premise of the book is that the only plausible path to success is to build on the current system, with improvements to both public programs, retirement saving accounts, and private insurance markets.

Abstract: The Millennial Generation, those born between the early 1980s and the late 1990s, is the most educated, digitally connected, and globalized in the history of the world. 'Citizens of the World' examines the Millennial Generation from a comparative perspective, providing insight into the degree to which generational differences in political attitudes and behaviors transcend cultures and borders. Drawing on data from Australia, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States, 'Citizens of the World' shows how Millennials' global identity has developed and how it fuels their policy attitudes and willingness to engage in the political world.

Abstract: At the end of World War II, millions of people from Soviet lands were living as refugees outside the borders of the USSR. Most had been forced laborers and prisoners of war, deported to the Third Reich to work as racial inferiors in a crushing environment. This book reveals the secret history of repatriation, the details of the journey, and the new identities, prospects, and dangers for migrants that were created by the tumult of war. The book uses official and personal sources from declassified holdings in post-Soviet archives, more than one hundred oral history interviews, and transnational archival material.

Abstract: 'God-Optional Religion in Twentieth-Century America' provides a historical account of the idea that being religious and believing in God might be separate concepts. Isaac Barnes May focuses on the story of three groups-liberal Quakers, Unitarians, and the forerunners of what would become Reconstructionist Judaism - and how they attempted to preserve their faith in the modern world by redefining what it meant to be religious.

Abstract: Rather than focus on the well-known 'dignity of literature' debate, whereby authors such as Dickens sought to establish authorship as a middle-class profession, 'The Work of Words' considers the alternative path of middle-class writers who re-presented literature as a manual craft. Unlike many works in the field, it extends beyond the mid-Victorian novel as a generic and historical focus, to address its aesthetic and political afterlife right up to the periods of Guild Socialism, modernism and European fascism.

Abstract: In order to understand geek identity's exclusionary tendencies, we need to know the history of the overwhelmingly white communities of tabletop gaming hobbyists that preceded it. It begins by looking at how the privileged networks of model railroad hobbyists in the early twentieth century laid a cultural foundation for the scenes that would grow up around war games, role-playing games, and board games in the decades ahead. These early networks of hobbyists were able to thrive because of how their leisure interests and professional ambitions overlapped. Yet despite the personal and professional strides made by individuals in these networks, the networks themselves remained cloistered and homogeneous-the secret playgrounds of white men.

'Wronged and Dangerous' introduces 'viral masculinity' as a novel way to meet that threat by tackling the deep connection of our social and physical worlds. It calls us to ask not what populism says, but how it spreads.

Abstract: In 'The Image of Gender and Political Leadership', Michelle M. Taylor-Robinson and Nehemia Geva bring together on-site experiments conducted in countries around the world to compare the ways in which young people view gender and leadership. Together, the chapters in this book present findings from over 6000 young adult students of highly diverse socio-economic backgrounds in eight countries: Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, England, Israel, Sweden, the United States, and Uruguay. Overall, the book finds little evidence of traditional gender stereotypes that would limit young people's support for women as political leaders.

Abstract: We are all immersed in a sea of social norms, but they are sometimes tricky to observe with any clarity. They are often invisible to us and emerge only when they are not observed. Social norms are important to understand because they are both limiting of our freedom, such as gendered and racialized norms, and at the same time the very conditions of our agency. 'Social Goodness' presents an original theory of the normativity or normative 'oomph' of social role norms by developing an artisanal model for human social normativity.

Abstract: 'Ageing without Ageism?' contributes to the essential and timely discussion of age, ageism, population ageing, and public policy. It demonstrates the breadth of the challenges posed by these issues by covering a wide range of policy areas: from health care to old-age support, from democratic participation to education, and from family to fiscal policy. With contributions from 21 authors the discussion bridges the gap between academia and public life by putting in dialogue fresh philosophical analysis and specific new policy proposals.

Abstract: 'Rebuilding Community' tells the story of Shia Ismaili Muslim women who recreated religious community (jamat) in the aftermath of successive displacements over the course of the twentieth century. Drawing on oral histories, fieldwork, and memory texts, Shenila Khoja-Moolji illuminates the placemaking activities through which Ismaili women reproduce bonds of spiritual kinship: from cooking for congregants on feast days and looking after sick coreligionists to engaging in memory work through miracle stories and cookbooks.

Abstract: Debates about masculinity have come to dominate the media landscape. This growing cultural tension around masculinities has been analysed both for general audiences and in scholarship. What has been typically overlooked, however, is the role that language plays in these mediated performances of masculinity. Robert Lawson furthers our understanding of how language is implicated in (re)creating gender ideologies and how it shapes contemporary gender relations. Against a cultural backdrop of neoliberalism, ethnic nationalism, online radicalisation, networked misogyny, and fractious gender relations, 'Language and Mediated Masculinities' charts how language is used to monitor, evaluate, and police masculinities in online and offline spaces.

Abstract: Engages with two levels of scholarly discussion that are all too often dealt with separately in modern scholarship: the Islamization of the Near East and the place of women in pre-modern Near Eastern societies. It outlines how these two lines of inquiry can and should be read in an integrative manner. Major historical themes such as conversion to Islam, Islamization, religious violence, and the regulation of Muslim/non-Muslim ties are addressed and reframed by attending to the relatively hidden, yet highly meaningful, role that women played throughout this period.

Abstract: 'Colonization through a process of affection', wrote the London-based Barbadian novelist George Lamming in 1960, was 'the worst form of colonization'. Lamming's London was marked by the violent currents of racism - some seen, many disavowed. But the operations of race, the putting-in-place of its hierarchies, the destructions of the self that its logics entailed, exceeded only expressions of violence and hatred. It was in 'affection', too, that colonialism's racial visions operated. It was not only among the illiberals, but among the liberals, that colonization continued its hold on metropolitan culture. 'Colonized by Humanity' is a study of racial liberalism at the end of empire. It uncovers the projects to cultivate racial integration developed in the two decades between the arrival of the Empire Windrush and the passage of the first Race Relations Act.

Abstract: In the current era, the ongoing challenge of race and ethnic relations and growing white supremacy reminds us that the centrality of racism needs considerable attention and has us profoundly questioning the structure and functioning of institutional practices. This book argues that racism has been somewhat short shifted as an avenue of inquiry to help explain social problems and social welfare outcomes within the social work profession, and within the greater society. It promotes innovative ways of preventing or interrupting racism and to stress the development and proliferation of antiracism practices as a method of reducing racialized outcomes in society.

Abstract: What is education, and who counts as an 'educated person' amidst competing religious, political, and pedagogical ideologies, which have shaped contemporary educational practices and institutions in Nepal? How have social and political changes, an increasing commodification of education, a continued reliance on foreign aid, and expanded geographical horizons contributed to a reshaping of the educational landscape of Nepal and thereby altered, opened up, and closed avenues of learning available to the Nepali people? Grounded in the intersection between anthropology, sociology, and development studies, and based on rich ethnographic evidence, the essays in this edited volume illuminate educational transformations and avenues of learning in the context of wider social and political changes in Nepal.

Abstract: This volume collects writing by and about Mary Ann Shadd Cary, an abolitionist, suffragist, one of the first Black woman newspaper editors in North America, and the first Black woman to enroll in law school in the United States. It includes letters, newspaper articles, and several never-before-published documents that reveal Black women's centuries-long struggle for rights and freedom. Reading about Shadd Cary today shows how Black women during the 1800s fought for racial and gender justice and how they addressed topics that continue to inspire debate today, like racism, feminism, labor, and internationalism.

Abstract: Kant scholars have paid relatively little attention to his raciology. They assume that his racism, as personal prejudice, can be disentangled from his core philosophy. They also assume that racism contradicts his moral theory. Philosopher Huaping Lu-Adler challenges both assumptions. She shows how Kant's raciology - divided into racialism and racism - is integral to his philosophical system. She also rejects the individualistic approach to Kant and racism. Instead, she uses the notion of racism as ideological formation to demonstrate how Kant, from his social location both as a prominent scholar and as a lifelong educator, participated in the formation of modern racist ideology.

Abstract: Recent social and political psychological research indicates that increased access to ancestry testing has strengthened the notion of genetic essentialism among some groups, or the idea that our biology ties us to particular ethnic identities. Using research from both the social sciences and the genetics literature as support, 'Ancestry Reimagined' establishes realistic expectations about what we can learn from our DNA as a foundation for examining the psychological impact of ancestry testing, including the differences between how this information is perceived versus its reality.
Abstract: DNA ancestry testing: What it is and what people make of it -- Essentializing social groups: Nations -- From race to ethnicity in ancestry testing -- Genealogical and genetic ancestry -- Using DNA ancestry evidence to retrace history -- We are all Africans, ultimately -- More related than distinct -- Social constructs vs. "natural order" -- Separating DNA from culture -- Finding meaning in our ancestry testing.

Abstract: "Intertextuality captures the idea that all texts and conversations - and by extension, other creations such as images - are linked to other texts and conversations (and other creations), and that people, through making and interpreting such links, construct and infer meanings. Metadiscourse, which broadly refers to discourse about discourse, captures the notion that one important function of language is to communicate about itself. While scholars have long recognized the interrelatedness of the two theoretical concepts, existing studies have tended to focus on one or the other, thus leaving underexplored the specific ways in which these phenomena are intertwined at the micro-interactional level, especially online, and for what purposes. This interactional sociolinguistic study contributes to filling this gap by demonstrating how specific intertextual linking strategies, both linguistic (e.g., word repetition, deictic pronouns) and multimodal (e.g., emojis, symbols, and GIFs), are mobilized by posters participating on weight loss discussion boards. These strategies serve as a resource to accomplish the metadiscursive activities, targeted at various levels of discourse, through which participants construct shared understandings, negotiate the group's interactional norms, and facilitate engagement in the group's primary shared activity: exchanging information about, and providing support in, weight loss, healthful eating, and related issues. Intertextuality 2.0 provides micro-analysis of discourse in a multimodal digital discourse context, or in "discourse 2.0"; in so doing, it advocates a dual understanding of intertextuality in the sense that its companion, metadiscourse, must be elevated in studies of intertextuality if we are to fully understand its role in (contemporary digital) discourse"--

Yet, most Western scholarly and popular treatment of the movement assumes it is a primarily Western phenomenon. To attend to the revolutionary international impact of #MeToo, Iqra Shagufta Cheema brings together contributions from scholars and scholar activists that look at specific iterations of the #MeToo movement across multiple communities, cultures, and countries in the Global South.

Abstract: When Martin Luther King Jr. argued on behalf of civil rights he was told that he was 'too soon.' Today, those demanding reparations for slavery are told they are 'too late.' What time is it? Or perhaps the appropriate question is: whose time is it? These questions point to a phenomenon of segregated time: how certain political subjects are viewed as occupants of different time zones, how experiences of time diverge across peoples, and how these divergent temporal spheres entwine to serve white supremacy. While racial segregation and inequality are typically conceived in terms of space, 'Segregated Time' explores how they are also sustained through impositions on human time. In this study, P.J. Brendese takes a time-sensitive approach to race as it pertains to the acceleration of human disposability, dynamic identity formation, and the production and allocation of economic goods.

Abstract: The #BlackLivesMatter movement has become a media and political phenomenon, but, as Christopher J. Lebron points out in this book, it is part of an older and richer tradition arguing for the equal dignity of black people. Lebron lays out the genesis of the ideas that have built the movement, presenting a foundational blueprint of sorts that can help us make sense of the emotions, demands, and arguments of present-day activists and public thinkers as well as recast the role of historical Black thinkers in American life.

Abstract: 'Work on Women' is the French Enlightenment's most in-depth feminist analysis of inequality - and its most neglected one. In it, Louise Dupin, also known as Madame Dupin (1706-1799), reveals the sexist bias ('masculine vanity') that informs the knowledge and institutions that shape women's lives and argues that the subjection of women is a modern phenomenon, based on an illegitimate, abusive marriage contract. This is the first-ever edition of selected translations of Dupin's massive project, developed from manuscript drafts. Robust introductions to the text contextualize Dupin's working methods - including the role of her secretary, Jean-Jacques Rousseau - and emphasize the importance of feminist thought to the development of moral and political philosophy.

Abstract: A complete, annotated translation of Ishvarchandra Vidyasagar's influential social-reform tract from 1871. Crafted by one of the nineteenth century's most prominent voices for social change, 'Against High-Caste Polygamy' demonstrates Vidyasagar's ability to call upon the classical discourse and argumentation of the Sanskrit legal tradition while engaging the norms of modern historical and social criticism. In this work, Vidyasagar utilizes both a kind of 'imaginative sociology' geared at capturing the suffering of Kulin women and a kind of proto-statistical analysis aimed at opening the eyes of readers to the extent and ramifications of polygamous practices that left Hindu women ostracized, neglected, and abused.

Abstract: Muslims formed a disparate and unwieldy 'community' in Bombay in the 19th century. The Islam that was professedly held in common by various groups could barely provide a sense of unity or cohesion to people so widely diverse in terms of language, customs, and also of forms and practices of belief. By the middle of the 19th century, a class of wealthy ship owners, ship-builders, and merchants, belonging to the varied communities that constituted the city, of which Muslims formed an important part, had emerged. This class was outward-looking, 'modern', and generally reformist in outlook. The questions that were being raised in the social turmoil of the period amongst Hindus were over issues of female education, the age of marriage, widow remarriage, and female seclusion.

Abstract: In this text, Zein Murib looks at the LGBT community in the US as it formed into an identity-based social and political group. Drawing on an extensive archive of movement documents and publications, Murib argues that the strategic use of 'rightful citizenship claims,' or the assertion that lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender people are owed rights as citizens, created opportunities for the recognition of white, gender-normative, monogamously partnered gay men and lesbians at the expense of other community members. 'Terms of Exclusion' shows that within-group marginalization is not an accident of political expediency or due to relatively fewer resources, but rather a discursive strategy employed by political actors to make a group palatable to lawmakers and the general public.

Abstract: Including interviews and focus group data, 'The Radical Imagination of Black Women' challenges political science's current approach to political ambition by exploring how Black women decide to seek political office. Pearl K. Ford Dowe argues that Black women's political ambition often manifests itself outside formal politics, in activism and community building, a process that is linked to a wider radical vision for a full democracy. This is ambition that occurs in a specific context of marginalization, and both motivation and the conditions surrounding such motivation are critical to understanding the full range of Black women's political work.

Abstract: F.G. Bailey's contributions to anthropological theory and method are illuminated in this edited volume. Chapters variously present, apply, and trace the origins of Bailey's seminal ideas regarding power's place in the relationship between agency and structure, and the way that people tactically deploy emotions and cultural norms for personal gain.

Abstract: Institutions in Recife, Brazil, have restructured subsidies in favour of encouraging musicians to become more entrepreneurial. Falina Enriquez explores how contemporary and traditional musicians in the fabled musical city have negotiated these intensified neoliberal cultural policies and economic uncertainties. Drawing on years of fieldwork, the author shows how forcing artists to adopt 'neutral' market solutions reinforces, and generates, overlapping racial and class-based inequalities. Lacking the social and financial resources of their middle-class peers, working-class musicians find it difficult to uphold institutional goals of connecting the city's cultural roots to global markets and consumers. Enriquez also links the artists' situation to that of cultural and creative workers around the world.

Abstract: A unique narrative structure brings the history of race science in mid-twentieth-century India to vivid life. In this stirring history, Projit Bihari Mukharji illustrates how India appropriated and repurposed race science to its own ends and argues that these appropriations need to be understood within the national and regional contexts of postcolonial nation-making-not merely as footnotes to a Western history of 'normal science.'

Abstract: Evangelical Christians and members of the global LGBTQI human rights movement have vied for influence in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. Each side accuses the other of serving foreign interests. Yet each proposes future foreign interventions on behalf of their respective causes despite the country's traumatic past with European colonialism and American imperialism. As Erin L. Durban shows, two discourses dominate discussions of intervention. One maintains imperialist notions of a backward Haiti so riddled with cultural deficiencies that foreign supervision is necessary to overcome Haitians' resistance to progress. The other sees Haiti as a modern but failed state that exists only through its capacity for violence, including homophobia.

Abstract: An eye-opening exploration of the medical origins of gender in modern US history. Today, a world without 'gender' is hard to imagine. Gender is at the centre of contentious political and social debates, shapes policy decisions, and informs our everyday lives. Its formulation, however, is lesser known: gender was first used in clinical practice. This book tells the story of the invention of gender in American medicine, detailing how it was shaped by mid-20th-century American notions of culture, personality, and social engineering. Sandra Eder shows how the concept of gender transformed from a pragmatic tool in the sex assignment of children with intersex traits in the 1950s to an essential category in clinics for transgender individuals in the 1960s. Following gender outside the clinic, she reconstructs the variable ways feminists integrated gender into their theories and practices in the 70s.

Abstract: If we can agree that our current social-political moment is tenuous and unsustainable - and indeed, that may be the only thing we can agree on right now - then how do markets, governments, and people interact in this next era of the world? This book considers the strained state of our political economy in terms of where it can go from here. The contributors look squarely at how normative and positive questions about political economy interact with each other - and from that beginning, how to chart a way forward to a just economy.

Abstract: Alongside the importance of 'chosen families' in the queer community, Rin Reczek and Emma Bosley-Smith found that very few LGBTQ people choose to become estranged from their parents, even if those parents refuse to support their gender identity, sexuality, or both. Drawing on interviews with over 75 LGBTQ people and their parents, Reczek and Bosley-Smith explore the powerful ties that bind families together, for better or worse. They show us why many feel obliged to maintain even troubled - and sometimes outright toxic-relationships with their parents. They argue that this relationship persists because what we think of as the 'natural' and inevitable connection between parents and adult children is actually created and sustained by the sociocultural power of compulsory kinship.

Abstract: Here is an incisive study showing how cultural ideas of merit in academic science produce unfair and unequal outcomes. In this book, sociologists Mary Blair-Loy and Erin A. Cech uncover the cultural foundations of a paradox. On one hand, academic science, engineering, and math revere meritocracy, a system that recognizes and rewards those with the greatest talent and dedication. At the same time, women and some racial and sexual minorities remain underrepresented and often feel unwelcome and devalued in STEM. How can academic science, which so highly values meritocracy and objectivity, produce these unequal outcomes? Blair-Loy and Cech studied more than five hundred STEM professors at a top research university to reveal how unequal and unfair outcomes can emerge alongside commitments to objectivity and excellence.

Abstract: This book traces the transformation of the pink triangle from a Nazi concentration camp badge and emblem of discrimination into a widespread, recognizable symbol of queer activism, pride, and community. The book provides an overview of the Nazis' targeted violence against LGBTQ people and details queer survivors' fraught and ongoing fight for the acknowledgement, compensation, and memorialization of LGBTQ victims. Within this context, a new generation of queer activists has used the pink triangle-a reminder of Germany's fascist past-as the visual marker of gay liberation, seeking to end queer people's status as second-class citizens by asserting their right to express their identity openly.

Abstract: Taking travel home provides a cultural history of the travel souvenir. It situates the souvenir at the crossroads of competing ideas of what travel stood for which were fought out amongst a rapidly growing constituency of British tourists between 1750 and 1830. Drawing from the theory of the souvenir as a nostalgic narrative instrument, the book uncovers how elite women tourists developed a souvenir culture around the texts and objects they brought home to realise their ambitions in the arenas of connoisseurship, science and friendship. Ultimately, it argues that souvenirs are representative of female agency during this period. For elite women, revelling in the independence and identity formation of travel, but hampered by polite models of femininity and reliant on their menfolk, the creation of souvenirs provided a way to prove their claims to the authority of the travelling subject.

Abstract: This monograph breaks new ground by weaving stories of fathers and children into the history of gender, family, and nation in colonial India. Arguing that fatherhood assumed new meaning and significance in the changing colonial culture, Banerjee documents the different ways the authority and power of the father was invoked and constituted both metaphorically and in everyday experiences. Traversing familial and public domains, the book interrogates connections between fatherhood and a new conception of masculinity.

Abstract: How are modernity, coloniality, and interimperiality entangled? Bridging the humanities and social sciences, Anca Parvulescu and Manuela Boatca provide innovative decolonial perspectives that aim to creolize modernity and the modern world-system. Historical Transylvania, at the intersection of the Habsburg Empire, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, and Russia, offers the platform for their multi-level reading of the main themes in Liviu Rebreanu's 1920 novel Ion. Topics range from the question of the region's capitalist integration to antisemitism and the enslavement of Roma to multilingualism, gender relations, and religion. 'Creolizing the Modern' develops a comparative method for engaging with areas of the world that have inherited multiple, conflicting imperial and anti-imperial histories.

Abstract: 'Feminism's Empire' investigates the complex relationships between imperialisms and feminisms in the late nineteenth century and demonstrates the challenge of conceptualizing "pro-imperialist" and "anti-imperialist" as binary positions. By intellectually and spatially tracing the era's first French feminists' engagement with empire, Carolyn J. Eichner explores how feminists opposed - yet employed - approaches to empire in writing, speaking, and publishing.

Abstract: In 'The Making of White American Identity', Ron Eyerman provides an explanation for how whiteness has become a basis for collective identification and collective action in the United States. Drawing upon his previous work on the formation of African American identity, as well as cultural trauma theory, collective memory and social movements, Eyerman reveals how and under what conditions such a collective identification emerges, how collective action around an ideology of whiteness and white superiority happens and considers the prospects of the ideology of white supremacy as a political force in the United States.

Abstract: In the past, it was assumed that men, as good citizens, would serve in the armed forces in wartime. In the present, however, liberal democratic states increasingly rely on small, all-volunteer militaries deployed in distant wars of choice. While few people now serve in the armed forces, our cultural myths and narratives of warfare continue to reproduce a strong connection between military service, citizenship, and normative masculinity. In this book, Katharine M. Millar provides an empirical overview of 'support the troops' discourses in the US and UK during the early years of the global war on terror (2001-2010). As Millar argues, seemingly stable understandings of the relationship between military service, citizenship, and gender norms are being unsettled by changes in warfare.

Abstract: Mocked, vilified, blamed, and significantly misunderstood - the 'Baby Boomers' are members of the generation of post-WWII babies who came of age in the 1960s. Parents of the 1940s and 1950s raised their Boomer children to be respectable church-attendees, and yet in some ways demonstrated an ambivalence that permitted their children to spurn religion and eventually to raise their own children to be the least religious generation ever. The Baby Boomers studied here, living in the UK and Canada, were the last generation to have been routinely baptised and taken regularly to mainstream, Anglican churches. This study, based on in-depth interviews and compared to other studies and data, offers a sociological account of the sudden transition from religious parents to non-religious children and grandchildren, focusing exclusively on this generation of ex-Anglican Boomers.
