    Abstract: Eine Frau schüttet auf eine vorgeheizte Backschale feuchtes Sagostärkemehl und bäckt daraus ovale Fladen, die kurz in Wasser getaucht werden. Anschließend legt sie frische Sagobrocken ins Feuer, bäckt sie unter mehrmaligem Wenden mit einer Bambuszange und ißt sie noch warm.
    Abstract: A woman, Kambanpi is refining bananas directly on the fire. On top of a moistened banana leaf she is putting sago, scraps of coconut and pieces of the refined bananas. The cake is wrapped in the leaf and baked in the heated frying-pan. The burnt banana leaf is then scraped off, and the cake is eaten.

    Abstract: Ein junger Mann raspelt das Samenfleisch einer Kokosnuß und schüttet es zu der Kokosmilch in einen Topf. Eine Frau bringt diese Flüssigkeit zum Kochen, rührt Sagostärke ein und läßt die Speise zu einer steifen Masse werden, die mit dem Löffel gegessen wird.
    Abstract: A young man is scraping the meat of a coconut, and a woman, Kambanpi, is heating the scraps together with the water of the coconut; she is mixing sago starch with some of th hot fluid and then pouring this mixture into the rest of the fluid. It is stirred vigorously until the pudding is getting stiff. The pudding is eaten with a spoon made from coconutshell.

    Abstract: With the shell a woman, Kambanpi, is cutting the meat of a coconut and is mixing it with sago starch. She is forming dumplings out of the mixture and is cooking these in boiling water. After cooling off the dumplings are eaten.

Die Arbeiten werden von einem Mann und einer Frau in Arbeitsteilung verrichtet.
    Abstract: In the highwater time a sagopalm is cut, the trunk is divided in parts and floated to the village. There starch is produced from one of the parts: a section of palm bark is split open by a man, Kapindi, using a steel adze, and then he pounds the fibrous pith using a sago pounder made from hard wood. The washing of the starch from the fibres is done by a woman, Kambanpi, after having erected the washing apparatus with the trough of a sago leaf base and the strainer from the leaf base of coconut palms. The flower sheath of a palm is used for collecting the water containing starch. After the settling the starch is filled into a basket in order to allow that the rest of the water can drip off. The following day, the starch is stored in a big earthen storage pot.

    Abstract: Auf ein Bananenblatt gibt eine Frau schichtweise mit Kokosraspeln vermischte Sagostärke und gegarte Bananen, wickelt es zu einem flachen Paket zusammen und bäckt es auf beiden Seiten in der Backschale.
    Abstract: A woman, Kambanpi, is putting a frying-pan on top of a fire which is made in a big earthen stove; two earthen dishes serve as rest for the pan. After heating the pan for a longer while Kambanpi is pouring moist sago starch onto it giving the cake an oval shape by using a part of a coconut shell. The pancake is fried on both sides, shortly dipped into water and then eaten together with the meat of a coconut or with smoked fish. Six pancakes are put aside as food for one day in a small sago basket. Kambanpi is then putting a lumb of sago directly into the fire; it is turned several times with a bamboo pincer. After getting cool the burnt outside of the lump is taken off, and Kambanpi is eating the sago.
