In een serie schoolportretten brengen de onderzoekers en auteurs van dit boek in kaart welke factoren bijdragen aan de duurzaamheid van professionele leergemeenschappen. Hiervoor deden zij onder andere intensieve observaties en namen interviews af bij 15 meest invloedrijke leden van scholen. Een belangrijke conclusie van dit boek is dat schoolleiderschap ertoe doet en het biedt praktische tips voor schoolleiders om de belangrijkste lessen te vertalen naar de eigen schoolcontext. Dit boek kwam tot stand als onderdeel van een door NRO gesubsidieerd project ‘De rol van schoolleiderschap bij duurzame onderwijsverbetering’

    Abstract: Sinds 2018 biedt de gemeente Amsterdam 15 uur voorschoolse educatie aan alle peuters. Dat betekent in vergelijking met de periode daarvoor een uitbreiding van 12 naar 15 uur voor peuters met een doelgroepindicatie en van zes naar 15 uur voor peuters zonder een indicatie. De verwachting was dat 15 uur zou leiden tot meer stabiele en meer heterogene groepen en als gevolg hiervan een positieve uitwerking op de proceskwaliteit. Pedagogisch medewerkers beoordelen de urenuitbreiding als positief. Meer uren stelt hen in staat de dagindeling flexibeler af te stemmen op de kinderen. Er kon niet worden vastgesteld dat urenuitbreiding leidde tot een hogere proceskwaliteit. Verlenging naar 15 uur betekent ook niet automatisch dat de samenstelling van de groepen meer heterogeen wordt. De instroom van kinderen in voorschoolse educatie lijkt namelijk ook beïnvloed te worden door andere (gelijktijdige) veranderingen in het beleid, zoals het invoeren van een eigen bijdrage voor vve. Wanneer een gemeente nastreeft dat kinderen van verschillende achtergronden al jong met elkaar opgroeien, zijn tevens andere beleidsimpulsen nodig. De verandering naar 15 uur is uitgevoerd in een periode waarin meerdere veranderingen hebben plaatsgevonden in de kinderopvang/vve. Ten eerste een verandering van gratis voorschoolse educatie naar een door ouders betaalde bijdrage. Ten tweede een verlaging van de leeftijd waarop kinderen de voorschoolse educatie binnenkomen, van tweeënhalf naar twee jaar. Dit betekende een uitdaging voor veel pm’ers omdat zij nog niet gewend waren aan een jongere doelgroep binnen de vve. Mogelijk hebben deze verschillende factoren invloed gehad op de gevonden resultaten. We kunnen uit het onderzoek geen definitieve conclusies trekken over de invloed van meer uren vve op stabiliteit, menging en proceskwaliteit. Daar komt bij dat het verschil met de oorspronkelijke 12 uur vve ook niet erg groot was. Een rigoureuze wijziging in de deelnametijd per week zou wellicht een ander beeld hebben laten zien. Het project maakt deel uit van het programma ‘Innovatiecentra vve’ van het ministerie van OCW en NRO, waarin vijf interventies werden geselecteerd en onderzocht op hun bijdrage aan verhoging van kwaliteit van voor- en vroegschoolse educatie.     Abstract: "With the evolution of today’s educational contexts, teacher education is becoming increasingly important into European political discussion, in relation to its ability to improve the results of student learning. The need to confront new changes clearly signifies that the professionalism of teachers cannot be limited to competencies and skills learning, however, it does require new strategic dimensions of professional activation, oriented towards better identifying personal goals and strategies to be achieved. The text re-draws the paradigm of the continuing teacher professional development by integrating the capability approach with the models of competencies. Starting from the analysis of European policies on teacher education, the text carry out an experimental research into pre-school settings to explore the importance of individual choice: throught the creation of innovative research tools and a self-training methodology, pre-school teachers involved improved their self-determine agency and better qualified professional development. The text meets the interests of researchers, as a important contribution to rethink the topic of teacher training, also for the chosen methodological approach; for teachers, it wants to deepen the sense of educational professionalism, updated to the most recent topics and issues; finally, it meets the interests of aspiring in-training teachers or aspiring researchers for the richness of its contents, in order to inspire the elaboration of new, original research perspectives."

    Abstract: Serious illness prevents many students from attending school on a regular basis and can lead to long-term absence from the classroom. The consequent isolation impedes socialization and educational exchange between homebound students and their schoolmates, as well as interaction with their teachers. Moreover, these students face serious difficulties when they eventually manage to return to school. All these factors slow down homebound students’ learning progress and weaken their sense of belonging to their peer group. In response to these issues, Italy’s Ministry of Education (MIUR), National Research Council (CNR), and the TIM Foundation set up a project in 2013 named TRIS (Networked Technologies and Socio-educational Inclusion). The main aim of the project is to develop a flexible and scalable intervention model for integrating homebound leaners. This is based on active and engaging learning approaches and is designed for application to a wide variety of long–term absence situations. The main pillar of the project is the so-called “Inclusive Hybrid Classroom”, a special blending of physical and digital learning spaces. By facilitating direct engagement in class activities, irrespective of the students’ actual location, this kind of classroom heightens the sense for everyone that the homebound student is actively present in the classroom

Negli ultimi anni da una visione dell’insegnamento e della formazione centrate su che cosa si insegna si è, gradualmente, giunti a una visione in cui al centro stanno i soggetti che imparano e i loro obiettivi di apprendimento. Gli obiettivi di apprendimento sono declinati, sempre più spesso, come competenze. L’Italia sconta, da questo punto di vista, un ritardo che viene da lontano e che ha portato a misconoscere, per troppo tempo, i risultati della ricerca educativa evidence based e della prospettiva student’s voice per orientare riforme, cambiamenti, visioni. Il contributo che offre la traduzione di questo volume consiste nel mettere a disposizione di tutti gli addetti ai lavori (insegnanti, formatori, studiosi, ricercatori, decisori politici) e di tutte le persone interessate una grande ricchezza di dati come quelli del Rapporto OCSE, introdotti e commentati con particolare attenzione alla situazione italiana. L’intenzione che guida questo lavoro è quella di fornire una fonte attendibile con la quale ribadire, ancora una volta, che spendere in ricerca e istruzione significa investire e che gli investimenti ben condotti, in questo campo, hanno ritorni significativi non soltanto dal punto di vista economico. L’equità delle opportunità in un tempo come quello presente appare l’unico vero antidoto alla crisi economica, di senso, di prospettive che attraversiamo. L’istruzione, la formazione e la ricerca possono costituire un “faro” che ci guidi verso un nuovo “noi”.

    Abstract: Dopo anni di dibattito sulla presenza degli studenti di cittadinanza non italiana nel sistema scolastico, i tempi sono maturi per aprire le prospettive di studio e di intervento della pedagogia interculturale anche al mondo accademico. Avanguardia dello stesso multiculturalismo, con una presenza straniera che da sempre l’ha strutturalmente segnata, seppur esigua al confronto con altri Paesi, l’università si trova oggi a rispondere a nuove sfide, che partono da una ridefinizione, quantitativa e qualitativa, della popolazione studentesca di cittadinanza non italiana: accanto alla figura più classica dello studente internazionale, che sceglie l’Italia come meta dei suoi studi e che vi arriva ponendo questo come suo obiettivo prioritario, si afferma oggi la presenza di quegli studenti, figli delle migrazioni, che si affacciano al mondo accademico dopo un’esperienza di scolarizzazione e di inserimento sociale non sempre semplice e lineare. Il volume, oltre a inquadrare gli scenari generali riferiti alla società e alla città multiculturale, all’internazionalizzazione degli studi, documenta un lavoro di ricerca pedagogica, con aperture anche alle scienze sociali e geografiche, svolto nell’Università dell’Aquila. L’indagine sul campo ha mirato a ricostruire i background, i percorsi accademici, i bisogni formativi, i problemi dell’inserimento sociale degli studenti internazionali e degli studenti stranieri scolarizzati in Italia, prestando particolare attenzione anche ai temi della socialità, della reciprocità, del pregiudizio e dell’inclusione anche in riferimento agli studenti italiani. La ricerca, ma anche l’azione: L’Aquila, una città universitaria ancora segnata dal sisma del 2009 e dall’alterazione dei rapporti sociali. Stel een regieorgaan in dat de voorstellen toetst. Versterk de kansen op tweede geldstroomonderzoek voor geesteswetenschappers. En ontwikkel een adequate kwaliteitsbeoordeling voor hun prestaties. Dat zijn de belangrijkste aanbevelingen uit het rapport van de commissie Nationaal Plan Toekomst Geesteswetenschappen onder voorzitterschap van Job Cohen. Hij heeft het eindrapport vanmorgen overhandigd aan minister Ronald Plasterk, die een jaar geleden de opdracht gaf voor het opstellen van dit advies. Op het eerste gezicht lijken de geesteswetenschappen er in Nederland goed voor te staan. Het aantal studenten groeit, het onderzoek is hoogwaardig en er is sprake van een groeiende maatschappelijke belangstelling voor de producten van het geesteswetenschappelijk onderzoek. Deze ogenschijnlijke bloei kan niet verhullen dat zich ernstige problemen voordoen die de toekomst van de geesteswetenschappen bedreigen. Zo kon afgelopen jaren ondanks de stijging van het aantal studenten niet of nauwelijks in extra personeel worden geïnvesteerd. Een sterke verslechtering van de stafstudentratio en toenemende druk op onderzoekstijd zijn het gevolg. Ook voor het opleiden van de toekomstige generatie wetenschappers ontbreekt het aan financiële ruimte. Gevolg is dat de pool van kandidaten om de huidige generatie wetenschappelijke staf op te volgen steeds kleiner wordt, wat op termijn de kwaliteit van het hele wetenschapsgebied bedreigt. De commissie stelt voor om een deskundig en gezaghebbend regieorgaan in te stel-len. Dat beheert een speciaal budget waarop de geesteswetenschappelijke faculteiten een beroep kunnen doen met een overtuigend toekomstplan. Dat plan moet de verschillende deelproblemen (zoals versnippering van het onderwijsaanbod, geringe maatschappelijke uitstraling, lage onderwijsrendementen, betere doorstroming van jong talent in vaste wetenschappelijke rangen etc.) stevig aanpakken. Tutti i grandi quotidiani offrono giornalmente alcuni schemi da risolvere, sono nate associazioni e federazioni, vengono organizzati tornei locali, vari campionati nazionali e persino un campionato mondiale a cadenza annuale, si moltiplicano le proposte di varianti del Sudoku classico, moltissimi docenti universitari hanno avviato tesi di laurea sull’argomento, sono stati scritti svariati prodotti software su PC, su hardware dedicato e sulle principali console di giochi interattivi. Accanto alla moltitudine crescente di dilettanti che con varia frequenza si cimentano nel gioco, di solito lavorando con carta e penna e in solitario, è nata una comunità mondiale di esperti che, attraverso forum dedicati su Internet, cercano di scovare tecniche di soluzione sempre più sofisticate, oppure si accaniscono ad individuare e sviscerare i segreti logico-matematici del gioco, o più semplicemente si propongono di strutturare, organizzare e diffondere la conoscenza in materia. Questo libro si rivolge al primo gruppo di persone, ai dilettanti che vogliono continuare a giocare con carta e penna e che eventualmente vogliono diventare un po’ più esperti, e si propone di dare risposta a due quesiti principali: 1) come riuscire a risolvere in modo divertente qualsiasi schema, per quanto difficile, proposto dalle riviste specializzate, a partire da un numero limitato ma sufficiente di tecniche di base e avanzate, 2) come orientarsi nel variegato mondo degli esperti, dei forum, dei siti dedicati, dei prodotti software, senza perdere tempo inutile e potendo rapidamente trovare risposta a qualsiasi eventuale dubbio.

    Abstract: In contesto scolastico quello delle difficoltà in matematica è un fenomeno importante sia per la sua diffusione sia per le conseguenze che ha a vari livelli: dal disagio personale con cui viene vissuto da molti allievi, all'atteggiamento negativo che larghi strati della popolazione costruiscono verso la nostra disciplina, fino al calo di iscrizioni ai corsi di laurea scientifici. Di fronte a queste difficoltà, che spesso si manifestano in comportamenti quali la rinuncia a provare o il rispondere a caso, l'azione didattica finalizzata al recupero è in genere un'azione locale, che nasce dall'individuazione di errori per poi intervenire sulle conoscenze ritenute necessarie per rispondere correttamente. Ma questo tipo di intervento si rivela in genere fallimentare, e l'insegnante - insieme all'allievo - matura un senso di impotenza e di frustrazione. Il fatto è che questo approccio tende ad ignorare la varietà degli scopi che allievi diversi si possono porre davanti ad uno stesso compito, scopi non necessariamente interni alla matematica: per un intervento efficace è necessario allora spostare l'attenzione dagli errori che l'allievo commette all'allievo che li commette, alla ricerca dei motivi delle sue azioni. Questo volume intende offrire agli insegnanti di matematica strumenti utili per affrontare il problema, costruendo gradatamente - anche con l'aiuto di contributi teorici provenienti da altre discipline - un repertorio di interpretazioni possibili per i comportamenti degli allievi, su cui poter progettare interventi mirati, adeguati cioè ai loro problemi e bisogni

    Abstract: Le trasformazioni della nostra società pongono le professioni educative di fronte all'esigenza di acquisire nuove competenze che permettano di rispondere ai bisogni di una realtà complessa e in costante evoluzione. Per tale ragione il Corso di Laurea in Educatore Professionale in questi ultimi anni ha cambiato e sta cambiando volto, nell'intento di unire armonicamente in sé dimensione teorica e pratica. Il volume cerca appunto di dar conto di tali cambiamenti nel tentativo di fornire una fotografia di questo universo giovanile tramite la discussione dei dati emersi da un questionario e l'analisi di alcune autobiografie scolastiche scritte dagli studenti stessi.
