    Abstract: In Abwesenheit der Männer tragen Frauen ein verendetes Schwein zum Schlachteplatz, zerlegen es mit einem Bambusmesser, sengen die Borsten an, stellen Würste her. Ein zweites Schwein wird gebracht und verarbeitet. Fleisch und Würste werden zusammen mit Gemüse in zwei Erdöfen gegart. Ab und zu erscheinen Männer, die sich wegen Tabuvorschriften im Walde aufhalten, um Ratschläge zu erteilen. Die Frauen beklagen den Verlust der Schweine und singen Klagelieder.
    Abstract: In the absence of men, women carry a dead pig to the cutting place, dissecte it using a bamboo knife, singe the bristles and make sausages. A second pig is brought and processed. Together with vegetable, meat and sausages are cooked in two earth ovens. Men, required to stay in the wood by taboo rules, appear off and on to give advice. The women lament and bewail the death of the pigs.

    Abstract: Nachdem Salap vor dem Männerhaus mit einem Stahlmesser aufgesplissene Rotanstreifen zugeschnitten hat, bearbeitet er eine Astgabel. Auf den kürzeren Arm der als Schaft dienenden Astgabel legt er eine Andesitklinge sowie Blatt- und Fasermaterial als Futter und umwickelt sie fest mit den Rotanstreifen. Das Steinbeil ist quergeschäftet.
    Abstract: After Salap has cut split rattan strips to the right size with a steel knife, he works the fork of a branch. He puts an andesite blade as well as leaf and fibrous material to serve as a lining on the shorter arm of the branch-fork which is to serve as the shaft and wraps it tightly with the strips of rattan. The adze is cross-shafted.

    Abstract: Zwei verheiratete Männer von etwa 45 bzw. 35 Jahren aus Malingdam nehmen ihre Peniskalebasse ab, um zu zeigen, wie man sie anlegt. Zuerst wird die Kalebasse, deren unteres Ende mit einer Schnurschlinge fixiert wird, durch die man den Hodensack zieht, aufgesteckt. Um das obere Drittel der Kalebasse wird eine Rotanschnur befestigt, die um die Hüfte gelegt wird. Die feste Rotanwicklung wird auf einem breiten Blatt um die Taille gewickelt.
    Abstract: Two married men of approximately 45 and 35 years of age, respectively, from Malingdam, take off their penis gourds to show how they are put on. First, the gourd, whose lower end is attached with a cord sling through which one slips the scrotum, is put on. A rotang cord is attached around the upper third of the gourd; the former is put around the hips. The fixed rotang wrapping is wound around the waist on a broad leaf.

    Abstract: Durch Umwickeln von Wurzelfasersträngen mit weichen Rindenbastfasern stellt ein 14jähriger Junge in Malingdam/Imarin einen Nackenschmuck her. Der Schmuck wird mit Latex grundiert, mit Holzkohle und roter Erdfarbe bemalt und mit Federn verziert. An der Arbeit beteiligen sich mehrere Männer. Der Mum wird von Männern nach Abschluß der Pubertät, vor allem bei Tanzfesten, getragen.
    Abstract: By wrapping soft bark fibres around the strings of root fibres a fourteen-year-old boy makes a back ornament. He then spreads it with latex, paints it with charcoal and red ochre, and decorates it with feathers. Several people participate in the work. The mum is worn by men after puberty and put on for dance festivals.

    Abstract: Asin, ein 16jähriger Junge aus einem Nachbartal (Siferuk), ist mit Verwandten und Freunden zu Besuch nach Munggona gekommen, wo er vor einiger Zeit initiiert wurde. Der Besuch dient der zeremoniellen Abgeltung der Initiation. Er überreicht seinem damaligen Betreuer eine breite Stirnbinde aus Nassa-Schnecken. Als Gegengabe erhält er Schweinefett.
    Abstract: Accompanied by his relatives and friends a young man of sixteen has arrived for a visit from the neighbouring valley to Munggona, where he has been initiated a short time ago. The purpose of this visit therefore implies the ceremonial compensation for the initiation. As a gift the young man hands over a broad forehead band covered with thin slices of the shells of Nassa-snails to the man who had taken care of him during his initiation. As a return present he gets some pig's fat.

    Abstract: Auf dem Dorfplatz von Malingdam/Imarin, wo sich die Männer aufhalten, stellt ein Mann aus Kalzitplatten durch Ritzen mit Steinsplittern eine Nasenstabrohform her. Als die Rohform zerbricht, arbeitet er an einer neuen, die er anschließend am Bach naß schleift und poliert. Um ihn herum finden andere Aktivitäten statt: Flechten, Faserherstellung, Gesichtsbemalung, Körperreinigung, Haarscheren, Maultrommelspiel, Gesang usw.
    Abstract: A man is sitting on the village ground, the meeting place of men. Using chips of broken stones he carves a nose sticks out of a piece of calcite stone. The calcite breaks and he carves another one. Afterwards he grinds and polishes it at the streamlet. Around him the other men are busy with plaiting, making fibres, face painting, body cleaning, hairshearing, playing a jew's harp, singing, etc.

    Abstract: Das baufällig gewordene sakrale Männerhaus wird innerhalb eines Tages mit bereitgehaltenem Baumaterial durch eine Neukonstruktion ersetzt. Etwa 50 einheimische Männer und Jungen sowie Gäste aus anderen Dörfern nehmen an dem Bau des Rundhauses mit Kegeldach teil. Die Arbeit wird von zeremoniellen Handlungen begleitet.
    Abstract: Building materials, poles and planks, are partly of sacral character. They are set up at a rhythmical run, producing a state of ecstasy. Food is distributed to the workers. The new house is covered with the old roof. Finally, the sacred digging-stick is placed in the new men's house. Small spirit houses are also constructed.
